That being said, here are some of the pluses (some are unique to this location, others, not so much). 1) Cheap spices. Most are $1. Stock up here and avoid paying $5 at grocery stores. 2) Cheap kitchenware, with good representation. Need cheesecloth? get it here. Need barware? you can buy some cheap stuff here. Need non-stick bakeware? you got it, here. 3) Lots of "health food": gluten free, dried fruits/veggies, herbal teas, etc. 4) Unique to this store: helpful staff. I had to return a glass beverage dispenser that had a crack in it. They allowed me to exchange it for another one without a big hassle, much appreciated. Would love to see this place tidy up a bit, have it feel a little less claustrophobic (see OSJL in E. Bridgewater for a better example). Also, need more than 1 register open at a time, lines tend to congest the store even more.

And here's why: 1) I love their produce section. Lots of healthy, fresh, fine quality produce. Displays are neat, clean, well-stocked. Very good representation, lots of variety. 2) their deli hot and cold bar. I love that I can pick up a meal to-go that actually tastes and looks delicious. They have fresh-made sushi (you can watch the chef make it), a hot bar, a wing bar (with other fried appetizer foods), and a salad bar. 3) as I said above, I love the Big Y brand "generic" foods. Their salsa is far better than most branded jarred salsa I've had! You can save money by buying store brand, but you don't sacrifice quality here at Big Y. 4) helpful staff: everyone I've interacted with from produce to seafood to butcher counter are friendly, helpful and most important: knowledgeable. Most grocery stores can't say the same. Their employees just don't care-- these do. 5) fast checkout. Despite long lines the day before Thanksgiving, I didn't wait long to check out. I think that's an excellent representation of their day-to-day. As I said, I was a big fan before, but this Big Y is actually even better than the store I frequented in Western Mass.
