This location was bigger than the one closer to me. I decided to pop in and check out some their dining sets and sofa setups. They have a really clean store. Only one staff lady reached out to see if i needed help on the first floor, no one else looked at me when i was checking things out upstairs but that's alright, i don't mind since i could cruise the floor in peace. The setups are nice and organized. The store felt really clean. The demo setups had some stylings that I could see in my own home. Given some of the prices of the dining room tables I would have to really be in love with the setup. They do have custom ordering upstairs where they have designers who can help you choose materials and styles. All in all didn't have a purchase today but i liked the store itself. read more

Service is very attentive and plenty of Associates helping you! The selection is abundant and something I could use and purchase! So many wonderful choices and styles to go with whatever you're trying to furnish! Value is abit high and sometimes best to find it on line but for those who don't mind those prices then they catered to the more affluent customers than average public! Great to see but sometimes out of my range. Their Clearance area is small but some good items... you get some savings but not much percentage off. I do like to wonder, it's very organized and super super clean and spotless! I like to compare prices before I purchase so I start here but most times I find it elsewhere! It seems they agree that a barely used item should not randomly start chipping / flaking. I am pleased things were reconsidered (or perhaps reviewed with a fresh set of eyes) and that my faith in a store I have long loved has been restored. Today, I noticed several chips on the side of a lacquer tray I received as a Christmas gift. Seeing that this tray has simply sat on a coffee table for less than three months and was never bumped or dropped -- the chips clearly show something defective with the tray. When I reached out to Crate & Barrel I purposely mentioned I live alone without kids or pets -- meaning I would know if any act had caused the chipping. Yet, they insulted me by explaining that mishandling the tray could result in scuffing and refused to give any refund or replacement. It would cost C&B very little to do the right thing but they would rather lose my business all together. Sad. read more

Purchased silverware from them at the start of the pandemic. Was repeatedly told that we could not return the item because the store was not accepting returns during the ongoing pandemic. Was later told we could not return the item because it was past the return by date even though the store was not allowing returns during our return window. Store could not have been ruder and more unprofessional. *** Update: Contacted corporate who set it up so we could return it at the store. The store was contacted to confirm they would accept it, they said they would, and the account was noted. And after that the store STILL refused to accept the return. read more

They have everything A to Z suitable for all budgets. Parking is tight, as it certainly is a destination place, but it's a horseshoe outdoor mall and well worth the take year round. C&B have been a staple of mine for decades. They quality is very good and the prices are very reasonable. Awesome staff, and you can order for or have it sent to. No negatives. Santa left me a very generous gift certificate to Crate & Barrel in my stocking this Christmas. And double the fun is having this Crate and Barrel practically at my doorstep. It's a really nice one. I'm a fan of the Derby Street Shoppes where this C & B is located (although I Ioathe that "shoppe" double "p" spelling). It's well-designed and all outdoors and I don't get the claustrophobic sensations and feelings of dread like I do at indoor malls (which I avoid like the plague). One of the anchors is Crate and Barrel and it has a lot of square footage. There are two floors of home furnishing delights. It's bright and cheerful inside with all the cool stuff we've all come to expect from C & B. The second floor is entirely furniture. It's dangerous for me up there because the redecorating bug bites me badly . With the exception of my visit here during the New Year's holiday weekend when the store and the parking lot were jam-packed, this location is usually quite civilized with great customer service and an always eye-popping array of goodies for my abode. That gift certificate is still burning a hole in my pocket, but trust me, not for long. read more

Went in to return a gift for a store credit. The box is in perfect condition and the flatware insIde still I'm unopened wrapper. We were told without the receipt or the email oof the person who purchased it we couldn't be given a store credit. So I guess if you get a gift and want to exchange it you have to tell the person who got it for you. Absolutely horrible customer service I finally spoke with someone from. I bought a large beautiful blue rug from Crate and Barrel in 2019, almost 2 years ago. Last week I found a hole in it, where you could see the backing of the rug. I took a photo on my phone and went into the store. They looked at the phot and my receipt, which I saved. 3 days later a new rug was delivered to my house. I did not have to argue or plead my case. They just took care of me immediately and replace the rug. You can't get better customer service than that. They stand behind their products and were very pleasant about the exchange. I was a big fan of Crate and Barrel until the day I ordered my upholstered bed from them 3 weeks before we were moving in to our new house as we were assured of delivery by the time we moved. Nov-3 was the date of order and Nov 25th was when we moved in to our new home. The order status was unknown until Nov 25 and when we called they mentioned a Dec 3 delivery. When we called back on Dec 3 we were told Dec 13 was the delivery. Not a surprise when we called on Dec 13, Dec 18 was told as delivery. Today on Dec 18, We got a call that delivery was scheduled for Dec 20. No reason provided for reason for delay, though I spent hours on the phone trying to expedite it and even went to the store twice to check. Wish we had known it was going to take that long, we could've at least looked at other options. Now after 4 weeks of sleeping on the floor with a baby, we have little hope they will actually bring it on Dec 20th. Beyond frustrated.(Order Number: 60203753482) Edit on 12/19: Just got called to be told they are not delivering on 12/23. I need to ask for a refund and get a better bed at a different store. Now that this is the premier C&B of the South Shore now that the one in the South Shore Plaza has closed, the service, stock availability, and the quality has not decreased at all. Yes, some of their items are expensive. Yes, some of it is really expensive. However, this is one of the few places in which price matches quality. After we got married, we received a lot of gifts from our registry from C&B. A few things we had to return as we received duplicates (of those who can't order from a registry or choose not to, but I digress...). The staff at C&B are well-versed in the post-wedding rush of new brides loaded with bags and gift receipts. The staff at C&B made it easier by returning all our unwanted items and loading it on to a gift card. Then, armed with our 10% off coupon (ps, it's a bonus if you register there!) we were able to get what we wanted. The return policy is very generous. A few plates arrived chipped from shipping and one glass had a crack in it from shipping (unbeknownst to us as we opened them months later). No problem at C&B. We exchanged them and the staff re-wrapped them for the travel back home. The staff is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. If you see a product you want but that is not available on the sales floor, they will get it for you. If you see something online whether it be from C&B or another merchant, just ask and they will do what they can to get it to you. Bottom line: ask and you shall receive. I went to the Derby street location last weekend and there was a "Masks required" sign on the door. They have lost me as a customer. I'm a big fan of Crate & Barrel, but the Derby Street Shoppes location really takes the brand to the next level. Location is a big part of the appeal of this store: you can shop-til-you drop at any number of big-brand or small, specialty stores, grab a bite to eat, and never even have to move your car once. The Hingham Crate & Barrel is not only beautifully and aesthetically designed, but has two levels for your decorating and designing needs. The first floor houses seasonal items (hello, fall!), flatware, dinnerware, all things kitchen, some furniture, and lots of home decor. The second floor is the furniture store of your dreams. Revamp your entire home-- from living room to dining room to bathroom to bar-- on the second floor. I love that everything in the store draws your eye in, and there's no shortage of different design options to be found. Additionally, the price tags are right there on every item, helpful for those who are just browsing and don't want the usual salesperson's pitch. That being said, the staff at Hingham must be specifically trained in helpfulness. They're keen to assist you in any way they can: fetching items from the back, calculating the cost differences between sectional arrangements, discussing your needs for a dining room table. I think everyone loathes a "salesperson", but the Hingham store employee instead lends a listening ear and a helping hand. We, too, like other reviewers, opted to have part of our wedding registry at Crate & Barrel. I turned it on its head a bit, and asked people to buy silverware off our registry in lieu of bridal shower gifts. Worked like a charm! We got two physical sets of silverware, and enough C&B gift cards for 6 more sets. I was so excited to see the 10% off coupon, which they send after your wedding date to "fulfill your registry". I'm so glad we went with Crate & Barrel, in terms of style, accessibility, and quality. I'd definitely recommend it to other brides (or moms?!) to be. I am shocked by the lack of customer service and communication provided by this Crate and Barrell. I ordered a piece of furniture nearly a month ago and was told to pick it up in two weeks. I called to confirm it was there and was then told it had been pushed back a week - no one had reached out to inform me. I was told I would be called the following week. A week goes by, no call. I call back only to learn the shipping date would be pushed back until the end of the month. Once again, no communication - I only learned this because I called. The blame continued to be shifted to the factory but a company as expensive as this should be more cohesive. This is something I would expect from Walmart. No one even offered meaningful explanations, coupons, or some method of making up for this expensive product being shipped A MONTH LATE with no communication. I've cancelled the order and will never order furniture from Crate and Barrel again. read more

This particular location is brand new, located in the Derby Street Shops in Hingham. It's bigger than the one in the South Shore Plaza, as it has an entire second floor dedicated to furniture. It is not, however, as big as the one on Boylston Street, which has a third floor. But, for it's convenience in location, i'd much prefer this one over Boylston street! C&B is great for kitchen gadgets and specialty items. Their prices for kitchen things are very reasonable, and it's typically things you either wouldn't think of or can't find anywhere else. Their furniture seems overpriced, but then again, i'm cheap. I did see a kitchen cart there for $300 that I had bought the month before elsewhere for $40, so there you go. I do like their plate sets and glassware, but for the prices, it's not my everyday wear. read more

I adore this store, home of what I believe is the only escalator south of Braintree. Furniture style and quality are superb, as is customer service. My sectional sofa, purchased at the Cambridge C&B in 1995, would still look and feel brand new but for some of the damage to upholstery done by cat claws. Not their fault. Well worth doing slipcovers someday. For years I was smitten by the oversized mangowood one-piece dining table in their showroom. My Ethan Allen dining set is lovely, but was purchased when I had a much smaller dining room. I needed something with both more width and breadth to accommodate serving pieces down the center of the table when dining family-style, and more elbow room for parties of 10-12. I finally purchased the piece three years ago and have loved entertaining with it. Perfect for Thanksgiving, seating 12 comfortably. Actually wide enough to seat two people side-by-sde on the end. We have also purchased a coffee table for our den, a drop-leaf console table, and more tchotchkes in their kitchen department than I could rattle off here. Every time I build up a cache of Amex rewards points, I redeem for C&B gift cards and head to the store at Derby Street - sure to find something to delight. read more

On 12/11/17 I ordered 2 pillow cases @ 63.64 from the Derby Square Store in Hingham, MA. They were delivered on 12/19/17. I did not like the quality so I sent them back on the same day that they arrived, via USPS insured for $50. The USPS tracking # shows they were delivered to the Crate and Barrel warehouse on 12/21/17. Nearly 1 month later my credit card has not been credited. I called customer service and the rep said they couldn't see the transaction on line. She suggested I call the customer service team management # which I did. The first rep I spoke to placed me on hold then turfed my call to another rep who took down all of the information and stated he would have to connect me to the rep at the Derby Square Store. The rep from the Derby Square store was misinformed and thought I wanted him to send out more pillow cases. I then had to start the explanation all over again for the 5 th time. He stated he had to "research this" and would call me back. These people take buck passing and incompetence to new heights - 1.5 hours of time wasted and no resolution. I haven't been to Crate and Barrel in years because the one by me closed down quite a while ago. Went to the Derby Street location today and was pleasantly surprised. The store was beautiful and well organized. I went in to find a shower gift in a hurry. Sales associate Donna W was amazing! She was sweet, genuine and extremely helpful. With just a few quick questions she helped me find exactly what I wanted, packaged it up for me, and even gave me a little note card to attach to the gift because she knew I was in a time crunch. What a terrible experience. My boyfriend and I were shopping for kitchenware for our new home. Neither of us were dressed to the nines like the rest of the shoppers, and we were completely ignored by staff. We wandered around looking for someone to ask, and found a cluster of six associates standing around talking amongst each other, one even held her finger up to me as if I should wait my turn as a customer to speak. We finally made it to the registers after having to scour the store for the things we wanted, and waited five minutes while four associates stood around again, and we were only acknowledged when I turned to my boyfriend and commented on the customer service. I have never been so appalled in my life. My family and I used to buy all of our cookware there, and we will never shop there again. Terrible experience. read more
