I needed to get some paper plates and happened to pass by Dollar Tree - this location is SUPER ghetto. There were at least 2 homeless people camping out in the front which wasn't the worst part of visit, but the store was dirty and unorganized - their customer service also sucked! The cashier acted like he didn't even want to be there. I thanked him and all he responded with was "uh huh." Thanks but no thanks! read more

Similar to 99-Cent stores from Arcadia, I'm rating this store at 3-stars. I was able to locate most items I needed for work before. However, having visited them during lunch hours, the lines would still be somewhat long here as well. I'm keeping this Duarte and probably all other location(s) at a 3-stars is for the convenient large parking lot it's situated. It was always easy to find parking. And during the Pandemic, just like my coworker informed, everything went up to at least $1.25 nowadays. I just think they shouldn't call themselves 'Dollar Tree,' anymore especially when nothing is exactly at $1 anymore. Just sayin?!' read more

This place is disgusting. Whoever is managing this place is just collecting a paycheck. Nobody cleans this place at all. The floors, shelves.. the whole store is full of dirt. Honestly from the get go the cashier Peggy was giving us dirty looks as soon as we walking in. Very unwelcoming. The Slav was clearly off so it was suffocating in there. Items that they do have in stock aren't worth the price you pay for them. Then Peggy was the only cashier open and clearly doesn't wanna be there. We asked her for balloons and she said with the biggest attitude that they didn't have any helium. It was overall just a bad experience. Definitely just go to the Arcadia one. read more

I had recently made a big purchase through their website for some picture frames on a project I was working on. I received an e-mail online saying that my order was ready on a Thursday. On Friday at about 11AM, I had decided to stop by to pick up my order. Well, to my surprise, the staff had no idea what I was talking about. When I showed them my order, one of the girls had said "Well, the truck just got here, so I would wait to come back at the end of the day." This was bizarre, especially since I received an e-mail from Dollar Tree already saying that the shipment had arrived and was ready for pick-up the day before. Nevertheless, I decided to return later. The weekend had passed and I came back the following Monday. This time, the manager was there. When I had told him the situation, he seemed apologetic and helpful to try to get this matter resolved. He said the shipment never came and that it will come on the next truck shipment (next Thursday). One week later, I stopped by again, this time, the manager was there and remembered who I was. He immediately looked like he wanted to turn the other way, cause he remembered he never fulfilled my order. Long story short, my order supposedly never arrived. I called customer service and explained to them my situation. These guys kept going around in circles with excuses that I grew frustrated and asked for my money back. It was so unfortunate that I had to deal with this, but I guess you get what you for, right? read more

Fly swatters, dish soap, 4th of July themed garland, water bottles your kids will likely lose at school THIS WEEK... better to get em here for a buck than lay down an Andy Jackson at a nearby store. I go here primarily to buy stuff I categorically don't need-- like more black electrical tape. To put in my junk drawer at school with the other black electrical tape I already have in there. Or a jar of straw mushrooms. Because... straw mushrooms. Occasionally, I'll find something here that I. An also fold into my fly-tying hobby. As in fly-fishing. Yes, Mildred, beads, feathers, Mylar, fast dry clear coat nail polish... sometimes you get lucky. No peacock hackle, but then, there are miracles and there are miracles. Surprisingly this location is one of the few Dollar Trees in the northern SGV area. Smaller then other locations. It was clean and organized. Staff was helpful, I had to do an exchange and it was easy. They did not let me exchange to get a food items though. I thought that was werid. Parking lot in this plaza is small and tight. Lots of stores here so parking can be hard to find during busy hours and weekends. read more

this dollar tree stereotyped me because I was in their store with a backpack on. had an employee over the intercom said " there is a shoplifter in the store. Shame on you." however, I haven't taken anything. I then proceeded to the front to ask who is that message about the cashier gave me no answer. I asked for a manager the cashier told me that the manager is somewhere in the back so then another employee comes out and I opened up my backpack to show him that I had nothing inside well from the store. I had my clothes inside. I did leave the store and come back, but I was waiting for a family member to send me money so that I can purchase something to drink, which is why I was lingering around. The store stinks. It's hot no AC the floor is dirty. The shelves are empty. It's not even worth stealing out of. read more

My brother was raving about a Dollar Tree being better than the 99 Cents Store. Little did he know that they are a chain store and there are multiple locations. To think, he's just discovering this place and could have been saving on items that he's never found at the 99 Cents Store... oh brother! The 99 Cents Store does have competition though. The Dollar Tree has carried a larger selection of party favors & supplies, seasonal items, and balloons far before the 99 Cents Store did. You'll find a lot of craft supplies, home decor, and items you'd see at places like Big Lots (but it's cheaper here). Last Christmas I got a battery powered string of Christmas lights to decorate my "Ugly Christmas Sweater" for the now popular themed party. I have no complaints, you get what you pay for. More bang for your buck. Not that I need to use them, but they now accept food stamps at this location. read more

I go to Duarte sometimes in order to get to Target, Big Lots, and 99 Cent store all at once, also the thrift Store in Azuza! Went to this Dollar tree for the first time ( and probably last!) They did have lots of things I was looking for but , no Frozen foods section.. They had one cashier who was full of Attitude very RUDE As I was getting my money out to pay, She literally ORDERED me as to where to STAND! Are we in Martial Law? I never got the memo! In line to make my purchase when another cashier opened up and called me over. He had not logged into the register then had technical issues. He called the manager over and she refused to use her open register to take me because she was going to cash out soon. The cashier who was attending me then told me to go back to the end of the other line. When I said that he pulled me out of the line in the first place, the manager then said if want the items I had to wait in line again or I could just leave. I was ballin' on a budget for my March 2015 wedding and they had a great selection of (gold) photo frames that I used for bar menus, table numbers, etc. Varying sizes -- 4x6, 5x7, and larger -- which was great. Found tons of scrapbooking supplies too -- stickers, gluesticks, scissors. This is one of the nicer dollar stores I've been to in the area! Clean and organized. read more

I really love going to the Dollar Tree (every store location is different though because some stores have more things that you may be looking for than others). In fact, some of my wedding finds were purchased at this Dollar Tree location (weddings aren't cheap ya know). I love that there are quite a nice selection of party items, celebration items, DIY project craft items and such. And of course your typical dollar tree junk as well. Love that this place sells those nice mylar birthday balloons and 2 for $1 greeting cards. This Dollar Tree location is located in the same plaza as Ralphs, right next to WIC and Subway. There is plenty of parking. (by the way, 99 cent store is across the street that shares the same plaza with Big Lots and Slaw Dogs) Great little store to just go in and browse around too. read more

How anyone can weave their way around using the shopping carts is beyond me. If you're claustrophobic, might want to go elsewhere. There are other Dollar Tree's that are more spacious. I'm a regular at Dollar Trees and 99 cent only places bc I like to treat myself to a useless item (even at targets dollar section) once in awhile but this place also has useful stuff like gift bags, decorations, cups, plates, etc. This one even sells bday balloons!!! I love the little useless and useful stuff. I was going to buy the 'as seen on tv' convert a bra strap from bed bath and beyond for $10, but the dollar tree had it for 4/$1. Whaaaaaaa! So many steals here! This does tend to get messy but what do you expect.... It's a dollar store. Parking They have a large lot but be careful... I almost got ran over by a old person... Yes...don't laugh! I am one of "those" people. I love the dollar tree! I buy little knick knacks here and there. Usually my spree is for gift wrap and gift bags, but lately I've been coming home with tons of mini candy bars:kit kats, snickers,reeses,twix and butterfingers just to name a few lol. I haven't been to too many dollar stores in my life, but this one was a pleasant surprise and a step above the few I have been to in many ways. They have a great assortment of goods, and I came in because my son needed some valentine's day cards. I was eating nearby and figured 2 birds 1 stone. I was able to purchase Marvel's Thor valentines at a buck a box, and was able to get 3 bags of candies to affix to said invitations for 3 bucks. I walked out paying 5 bucks and change, and took care of 30 children in my son's class. Wow. Awesome stuff, will definitely be back sometime. read more

Went to the store on Friday around noon. I was shocked to find the line to pay was so long. Least 10 customers. I only had 2 items but the people in front of me had least half cart load of items. Being as busy as the store was, I was very surprised there was only one cash register open. The aisles were so narrow that the line to pay blocked 3 aisles. Patrons were evidently upset and kept asking Alexis the cashier to open another register. She apologized and kept working as quickly as possible. What was impressive about her was that she continued to tell each patron she rang up regarding a new item in the store and if we would like to purchase it. Wow..now that's a way to move inventory out of your store! Now to the disappointing part and why this store did not earn extra stars. Lack of teamwork! Inez...a worker..who may be the supervisor came out of her office a few times. Each time with the phone to her ear. She seemed to ignore the complaints from the customers about the long line and didn't seem to even want to help out. At least 3 of the customers including myself commended Alexis on being such a hard, dedicated worker who seemed to show great poise despite the lack of support she seemed to have from her peer. One of the customers even went to the extent of saying that Inez should be fired! Being that I only had 2 items to pay for, I decided to stay in line to pay vs walking out so that I could personally compliment Alexis. Not sure how she took it as she seemed to become timid. Makes me wonder if no one has complimented her on her work before. The corp office may want to re-evaluate the roles both these employees have and consider reversing them. read more

Awesome staff!!! I went in there looking for some candles and I couldn't find the ones I needed so I ask the sales associate Letty and she was soo nice and helpful and went to see if there were any in the boxes she was opening to stock items. She saw that there wasn't and offered to check the back for me and on her way she found the display of them! She helped me carry them to the check out and offered to ring me up!! She saved me a trip to the other dollar tree and saved me time by ringing me up on the spot. This is the 2nd time that I've gone and the staff has been amazing! read more

LOCATION: Its located in a shopping center with sufficient parking. Plenty of eat spots around to grab a bite after a long day of shopping at the Dollar Tree. VENUE: I imagined it being bigger yet I was surprised to find it somewhat smaller than the other dollar trees I've visited. Maybe its just my imagination, I cant really recall. The store was well organized and more items that I thought. Regardless of my thinking it to be a bit smaller, it still has a nice item selection. PRODUCT: My intent was to purchase organic soap which I figured they probably didn't carry, I was right. I ended up walking away with a spray bottle, cat toy, and something else that slips my mine. My cat is going nuts over this cat toy (fish on a string) and have yet to find time to see if the spray bottle works (too busy yelping). SERVICE: I saw a few staff maintaining the aisles and never had a reason to ask for assistance. I found what I needed and headed to the cashier who was friendly, quick, and professional. OVERALL: I do not mind this Dollar Tree at all and glad its not too far for quick item pick-ups. Its not too far from a 99 cent store which shouldn't overshadow the Dollar Tree since it has nice variety. I would come back. read more
