7/30/22 something to keep in mind
    John F.

7/30/22 Upon looking for something to put our mail in and hang from the wall near our front door. We did not find what we were looking for, but we did find a whole bunch of other items. I saw more charger cables, but none in the "C Type" I needed. I saw boxes of sugar coated cereal (as my mom called it), but if it is what you can afford, so be it. The dollar store has many things that can help your household out. From cooking utensils to cleaning utensils to Bananas In Panjamas and Dora The Explorer merchandise, there is something for everyone here. If you see something you like, get it before it's gone. The items might return, but don't always believe it will always be there. I saw composition books for back to school and thought about some characters In my novel who wrote in their composition book their thoughts. After a month or two, they would send it to each other. I thought about two other characters who will be doing something similar while they are in prison. This store seems like in the middle of nowhere, but it really isn't. Still, I enjoyed this visit here. I am sure I will be back here with my wife again. This store is well stocked, well maintained and polite staff members we encountered. We shall return. Oh, I did not see the bathrooms, but I will inspect them the next time we are here. I hope the bathrooms are as clean as this store.

As always in and out, not enough open registers. I'm glad it was it crowded. Great place to grabbed your extra Halloween decorations and plates. The gift bags are good quality, not so much the wrapping paper. I never understood the store sale flyer hmmm! Everything is a dollar! Going to eat my $1 M&M now. Laters...

My wife and I stopped in quick to buy some candy with the kids and it was a fairly large location. The layout was slightly different from what I usually see in a Dollar Tree but still, large. That being said, not as much as I expected as far as stock. Still, they were well stocked and we found what we needed. I grabbed a couple of RipIts while I was in as I do enjoy them. Bottom line, Dollar Tree has a lot of items from a dollar. It is a seriously good deal. Don't get me wrong, you may not get the most quality items but you can't beat the price. This location was clean and we had no issues with customer service.

    Shopped here for moving supplies.

This store is horribly managed. Several light bulbs are out and haven't been replaced. Overall is dark and dingey.

Lol…read more I work 5 minutes from this Dollar Tree so off I went to get a pair of reading glasses; thank goodness that's the only thing I need them for but I NEED them for work! *sigh* The moment I walked in the door, barely passed 8 AM, I was instantly greeted by a very polite & friendly young man. I got a couple pairs of glasses & got out; have to say reading glasses for $1 is pretty dang good especially since they typically start at $15 at most stores. I bought a few pairs because I'm infamous for leaving them somewhere since I only need them for reading & they're not on my face all the time, LOL. When I got to work I realized that I bought one with the wrong strength so after work I went back to the dollar store to exchange it for the correct strength. I had another nice young man help me exchange them & off I went. This Dollar Tree is always busy because it's in the heart of Fairfax. They usually have some really cool things that other Dollar Tees don't. It's always nicely stocked & clean. All Covid measures were in place. What else can I say... it's a dollar store.

It's a bit annoying, but where else can you get home cleaning liquids, or other household items for less? Garbage bags and other essentials, will guarantee this place will stay in business. Don't buy their shaving razors, as the adage "you get what you pay for" is true. Other than being a blood donor, I like most of their products. You can get a three pack of Dial shower soap for $1.25. That's quite good, and occasionally they'll have a decent book to buy. Have found these to be pleasant surprises. This location is very organized. Lines can be a problem, but it's hard to find help these days. All in all a decent place for household stuff.

When I checked out on my last trip, the young gentleman at the register kept yawning and barely acknowledged me -- it came across as lacking basic manners and customer service. To make matters worse, a picture frame I bought turned out to be damaged in the corner when I unwrapped it at home. When I brought it back to return, the sales associate spoke to me in an accusatory tone and insisted that I had damaged it. I explained that I discovered the damage only after opening the packaging, but she refused to accept the return. Thankfully, I asked to speak with the Manager, who checked my receipt, realized I had purchased it just the day before, and resolved the situation professionally. I appreciated the manager stepping in, but the interaction should never have escalated to that point. Glad it was ultimately corrected, but the sales associate definitely needs better training in communication, customer courtesy, and how to handle returns without blaming customers.

Anyway...while he was at his appt., I decided to walk around the shopping center (FairLakes Promenade). I had seen Home Sense before but never got around to checking it out. Finally, got to do that today. At first glance, it looked like it was a furniture store. Yes, they have lots of furniture but a deeper look showed there was so much more. There are towels, bedding, kitchen utensils, household cleaning items, rugs and decorative items. My intention was just to look not buy. However, when I saw the food items, I realized that I needed a shopping cart. Things that caught my eye...imported pasta, pasta sauces, spices, sweets and a cleaning formulation for shower doors and mirrors. Truthfully, there were other items that attracted me but I exercised will power. For example, I saw a lovely vase but my sensible side said "we don't need another vase." There was artwork but sensible side said "We have enough of that and only so much wall space". When I went to check out, the cashier was friendly. I found out, when he tried to get me to sign up for a credit card, that they are part of a conglomerate that includes TJ Maxx. No, we don't need another credit card! My haul ended up costing $35 plus change. Once we were home, I showed my husband my haul. He asked what it cost and was pleasantly surprised. Aw, gee! I'm so proud of myself :D So, no regrets for paying Home Sense a visit!

Most annoyingly, trying to get past the group raising money outside is an effort, but then you'll be asked at self-checkout and maybe even confronted by an employee to give to a charity you may, or may not, have heard of. We give to charity, we don't come to the grocery store to do it. If Giant wants to give to charity, they area multibillion dollar company.
