The store is not the problem, its the workers!!! Especially the one who checked us out. He really took his time, I bought 5 balloons and waited for 30 minutes. And they need to work on customer service. Even just a simple, "hello" would be awesome. I just don't understand completely ignoring someone who says hi how are you, as you are ringing them up.

    Messy aisles.

I was on the hunt for a specific item from Dollar Tree so I went to about 5 different stores around the area. In my opinion, this was the worst one. Items were scattered everywhere and even with aisle signs, I still had a hard time finding what I came there for. Not an employee in sight to assist me so I ended up leaving. After being to a Dollar Tree in Vienna, my expectations were high. Everything was spotless and shelves were stocked. Employees were very helpful as well. Ehhh, I would only come back to this store if I had no other choice.

Yes! Everything is a $1 here! So why not grab a few items. I recommend to shop here for balloons, gift bags, even wine glasses for parties as is your guest brake them they are only $1 also office supplies and even some school supplies. With other items like example candy, snacks and cleaning supplies due the math by ounces as a lot of time is cheaper shopping somewhere else. Not because is a $1 is cheaper. My favorite is plastic containers, as people tent NOT to return your Tupperware or better containers. Also last minute decorations for the holidays like Halloween!

    Cleaning items on the cheap.

Why do I always forget about this place!? Ran out of dish soap and other kitchen items and made a mental note to stop by Dollar Tree. They have basic household stuff that you would end up paying well over five times as much at any other store. - zip lock bags, all sizes including freezer bags $1 - dish detergent, huge 64 oz bottle $1 - decorative iced coffee cups $1 - dish sponges $1 I'm a sucker for seasonal decor. I always have to have to have the decorations up on the outside of the main door to my place to correspond the upcoming holiday. So, its time for me to put up some red, white, and blue for the 4th of July! On this visit, I noticed the card section. I rarely go down this aisle. Obviously, they have cards for $1. However, on the backs of the cards the price says $3.85...so if you buy a card, nobody will know you only paid $1. I mean, its no biggie. But for some reason whenever I receive a card from someone, I have a really bad habit of looking on the backs of cards to see how much it cost them. They even have tons of cards 2 for $1. Seriously!? And the backs say like $2.85, so nobody will know you paid .50 cents. And they were pretty decent. Not fancy, heavy duty paper like at your over-priced Hallmark, but pretty decent quality. Birthday cards, wedding stuff, Father's Day cards, Happy Graduation, money holders, etc. I will be back!

One of the best dollar stores around the area. Always looks clean and tidy and has a lot of good quality items all for $1.00.

When I checked out on my last trip, the young gentleman at the register kept yawning and barely acknowledged me -- it came across as lacking basic manners and customer service. To make matters worse, a picture frame I bought turned out to be damaged in the corner when I unwrapped it at home. When I brought it back to return, the sales associate spoke to me in an accusatory tone and insisted that I had damaged it. I explained that I discovered the damage only after opening the packaging, but she refused to accept the return. Thankfully, I asked to speak with the Manager, who checked my receipt, realized I had purchased it just the day before, and resolved the situation professionally. I appreciated the manager stepping in, but the interaction should never have escalated to that point. Glad it was ultimately corrected, but the sales associate definitely needs better training in communication, customer courtesy, and how to handle returns without blaming customers.

Anyway...while he was at his appt., I decided to walk around the shopping center (FairLakes Promenade). I had seen Home Sense before but never got around to checking it out. Finally, got to do that today. At first glance, it looked like it was a furniture store. Yes, they have lots of furniture but a deeper look showed there was so much more. There are towels, bedding, kitchen utensils, household cleaning items, rugs and decorative items. My intention was just to look not buy. However, when I saw the food items, I realized that I needed a shopping cart. Things that caught my eye...imported pasta, pasta sauces, spices, sweets and a cleaning formulation for shower doors and mirrors. Truthfully, there were other items that attracted me but I exercised will power. For example, I saw a lovely vase but my sensible side said "we don't need another vase." There was artwork but sensible side said "We have enough of that and only so much wall space". When I went to check out, the cashier was friendly. I found out, when he tried to get me to sign up for a credit card, that they are part of a conglomerate that includes TJ Maxx. No, we don't need another credit card! My haul ended up costing $35 plus change. Once we were home, I showed my husband my haul. He asked what it cost and was pleasantly surprised. Aw, gee! I'm so proud of myself :D So, no regrets for paying Home Sense a visit!
