Reminds me of MacArthur Mall in Norfolk, VA. Good mix of retail, clothing/shoe shops, jewelry stores, pop up carts/counters, and food places. My one critique as a visitor on a mission is the food spots are not centrally located like most malls. All in all, a safe / clean place to eat and shop with plenty of parking. read more

I don't go to malls often because online shopping is so convenient these days! Even when I do go, it's just to pick up something I bought online most likely! Was visiting the area this past weekend for a friend's wedding and stayed at the nearby Marriott. We walked around this mall and it felt a bit outdated! Looks like it's been here awhile. If I'm not in this area, there wouldn't be any need for me to ever come here. They have the populular stores: Macy's, Sephora, JC Penny, MAC, Bath & Body Works, Victoria Secret, XXI Forever, H&M. On a Saturday it was quite busy. The Apple store had a line out the door. There's lots of food options as well: fast casual to sit down. I've been coming to this mall for many years. It houses many of the OG spots (Macy's, H&M, Cinnabon, Sephora, Sushi On, etc.) as well as newer spots (Donutchew, Merlo, etc.). Starbucks has relocated outside the mall. There are so many food options available ranging from quick pickups to dine-in. The mall is always decorated beautifully during the holidays, which was always when I came here historically. Luckily this mall has a lot of stores still standing, or newer stores. We usually try to visit the mall as soon as it opens on a weekday, so it won't be as busy. There are the usual mall-walkers, but seems to fill up closer to lunchtime. There is plenty of uncovered and covered (parking garage) available around the mall. read more

This is about the Santa at Fair Oaks. Not him, specifically, but his staff. We've been coming to Santa here for 14 years. The line has always run smoothly, reservation or not. This year we have spent well over an hour in line. Not just a long line, but not moving at all. The same space. They have not let a single person from the line into the area to wait for Santa. We were told on arrival it would be 15 minutes until we could go in. An hour later, no entrance in sight. We're going to a different Santa next year. Absolutely ridiculous!!! read more

This all used to be awesome and then so many amazing places left. We stopped going but when we had our son we started going again because he loved playing in the fun zone. It is a great way to get out his energy and interact with other children. Now they just got a train that circles the fun zone. It cost $10 to ride the train. It is so loud and all the kids stop playing. Not everyone can afford $10 for one train ride. Awful and very inconsiderate. I will be calling the management everyday until they move the train and I pray that anyone reading this does the same. This is a free fun zone that is inside and perfect during the winter. This is hands down the best mall West of Tyson's Corner. They offer a wide variety of shops anchored by Marcy's and JCP, as well as a Macy's Home store. There is also a Sephora and an Apple Store and a variety of dining options ranging from quick bites like Haagen Daz to Cheesecake Factory, Brio and Texas de Brazil. There's also a DMV branch and for fun evenings out a Dave & Busters (separate building not attached to the mall). Plenty of free parking is available. read more

Nice mall, lots of parking, they are not as big as Tysons but they have a variety of shops. It was stroller friendly, I do wish they had more elevators on each end so we don't need to walk from end to end. It's a shopping mall. As e-commerce has clearly shown, and the pandemic probably finished it off, traditional malls won't be around much longer. It is evolution in some ways. While yes I spent time here as a teenager, I'm not exactly waxing sentimental about it. At one point Fair Oaks was the place to be. Alas now it does have a Macys, Dicks Sporting Goods, Dave and Busters, and a Apple store. Other than that, I can't find much to be enthusiastic about. Perhaps the unique old modern art has appeal to some. The elevators no longer have the fountains to view. A lot of stores come in, and then they roll out. Annoying kiosk employees bother you to check their wares. You might think this sounds harsh, but I interpret this as alright, but nothing to write home about. Most folks go to Tysons or Mosaic. My apologies as there is a Cheesecake Factory here, and their cheesecakes are delicious. read more

The waitress in our restaurant (The Lazy Dog Restaurant? The Hungry Dog Restaurant?) never brought our drinks until the meal was half over, but served herself well at the end of the meal by asking if we knew how to use the billing gadget. When I said "No," she "helped" us by showing us how to use it, clicking the 20% tip option. She was a thin and spindly creature, so I said nothing. It reminded of me of a door-to-door solicitor who came to my home collecting for a charity. He came to my door and told me he couldn't accept any donations for less than $50. I later found out he was working on commission, and got half of whatever he collected. Now I don't open the front door, the minute I see someone outside with a clipboard. I make it a policy, in fact, never to open the front door at all. The mall has a number of boarded up shops, but those that were open had a nice selection of things. Most looked attractive. One or two of the shops are of the variety that one used to be able to find at Landmark Shopping Center: container ship container dump sites. Didn't exactly say "upscale" to me. In one store selling starving artist paintings (worth $25 to $70), the proprietor tried to tell me one of the starving artist paintings was originally worth $4,000, but he'd let me have it for $450. Pure snake oil. At $40 it was overpriced. The prices of most of the items in the stores were ridiculously high, obscenely high, with the exception of J.C. Penney. Thank God sanity still prevails somewhere. It looked to me like one of the anchor stores has closed, and, also, that Macy's annexed a different anchor store location that failed, creating two Macy's stores instead of one. The second annex site is called "Macy's Furniture" or something like that. The place looks like what you'd expect if Dubai and Guatemala had a child. I half expected to round a corner and encounter someone on a donkey selling oranges. They're making a strong effort to keep the place going, and to give it the appearance of being tony and stylish. I hope they succeed, but my cash won't be haunting these environs. read more

Briefly stopped by this mall to claim a Yelp Elite Perk. Long story short, I ended up being turned away so I decided to purchase Boba from Kokee Tea and a bowl from Mezeh. One of my favorite malls in NOVA. One thing is parking isnt a headache. I like to park far because you have least chances of your nice car of being damaged. Their food court is ok, but they have my mall staples, Cinnabon and Aunt Anns! The mall isnt crowded... mostly due to the pandemic. I love that their Dave and Buster is clean and organized unlike Maryland locations. They also have a nice shop to get your brows or lashes done. I took noticed that they have my favorite chain restaurants that isnt packed. Cheesecake Factory and BRIO to name a few. Ill definitely return. And they also have tons of Poke Stops if you play Pokemon. read more

This mall is a solid 4/5. It honestly most of the basic mall stores that you would want, as well as some completely random places that confuse you. I like to come here and just wander when I'm bored or stalling, and the selection is decent. The mall isnt too dead, which is also a plus. I did think i was gonna get stuck in the elevator here the other day because we were going up and then when it got to the top it just... didn't open. My friend just kind of pressed the open button a few times and it finally opened, but probably will not be riding that again anytime soon. I used to come here to walk around and then sit in the parking lot to do my make up after work LOL. read more

It's not fair that I don't get to come here and have Monster Roll often. They should rename it "Unfair Oaks Mall." This mall has been pretty awesome for as long as I can remember. It is fairly easy to access off the highways because it sits right alongside some pretty high speed roads. If you're coming from the south it's another story because Fairfax is usually in gridlock but from the highways in the north it can be a good mall to get in and out of. Be careful of crazy drivers that nearly crashed into me a few times around here because of their mindless stupidity. The mall itself is big and wide and has a little bit of everything. There are some spectacularly beautiful women in this mall. (Dies from lust) Both working here and shopping here. It's great for checking people out of either gender I would imagine. There is a Texas de Brazil and a good sushi buffet and a pretty good Cheesecake Factory location - and better still there is Monster Roll. A really awesome rolled ice cream place inside Fair Oaks with pretty good Bubble Tea. Anyway, I hope this review was Oakay, and it's time to move on to the next one. read more

This is a great shopping mall with various selections and shops to explore. First, the place functions as a great mall that is easy to navigate with two levels. Additionally, it is accessible to all with easy-to-access entrances and elevators. Next, it is a reasonably clean location that is great looking and has a settled mood. tl;dr: I would recommend shopping here if you like to shop in malls. We had a really bad experience, the photographer didn't look at the pictures and just took four quick snaps. By the time we went to pay they showed us the four options: Santa's eyes were closed in one, another one one of the kids was not even visible, and another one they had the kids looking back at Santa. First time here out of town. Not a bad mall. Two levels, Not crowded, decent stores from JCPenney to an FYE which I haven't seen in a while. Customer service was good in the few stores I went in. Not a fave of mine to go to but I went with my mom so she could buy some clothes from the cute little African store. I don't think they have a lot of the more popular stores that people go to besides the standard Macy's and I think I did see a forever 21 which probably brings the small crowds. There were not a lot of people there but to be fair we went during the time most people are at work so that could be why. Actually, that's probably why because I think that it's the main mall in the area. The outside of the mall is depressing and the inside is just as drab and depressing but take my opinion with a grain of salt because I hate malls but I go if my friends and family want me to tag along or if I want to buy makeup and I don't buy enough for free shipping so I go to Macy's and buy my MAC then get the heck outta there, lol. I will say my mom only came here to get the African clothes and she said other than that she doesn't care for it too much. There's an Auntie Anne pretzel shop in there and although I was tempted to get a cinnamon sugar pretzel to reward myself for being in a mall for more than 20 minutes I avoided the carbs. AOK plus a little more. Tyson's it's not. But three and a half stars for a clean, well maintained (working escalators and elevators) working man's mall with abundant parking and a convenient location. Although there aren't any luxury stores, there is a Lord and Taylor, two Macy's (one has a furniture store and a robust sale section in housewares!), Johnston and Murphy, Williams Sonoma, and Michael Kors. Services like jewelry repair and watch battery replacement are on both levels as are cell phone centers and ice cream shops to bribe the kids for good behavior! There are quite a few restaurants ranging from quick eats like Mezze, Chick-fila, and Elevation Burger to sit down, table-service casual like On the Border and that Sushi place to a little more upscale like Brio, Cheesecake Factory, and (my personal favorite) Texas de Brazil! Although one of the larger anchor stores has been closed down for years, construction is wrapping up (inshallah) on a Dave and Buster which I'm sure will be popular with teens and young adults. Another cool thing about this mall is that it features a few cultural or seasonal celebrations. There's the vanilla Christmas and Easter but also Lunar New Year where dragon dancers, Lions, and lantern dances ring in the new Zodiac year (2019 is the boar) in grand style! read more

Fair Oaks Mall is going down hill fast. Hoping there is a plan to rebuild the area and revitalize the area. Most high end stores have moved out and there are no name pop up stores taking their place. It remind me of "Scranton Mall". Just hope some communication will come out, the area is so very valuable, I did hear plans they are going to do something for the area. read more

Some of the stores I saw just last year are now closed or relocated. Still, I like coming to this and other malls to see the wonderful Winter clothing style of women...with the exception of Uggs or boots that look like Uggs. Walking around this mall to make it to Sushi on Us, I saw some store I would have like to go to, but I know I will get my chance at a later time. The biggest thing I notice was the mall was packed and people and their families were smiling and having a good time. It was good to see the American people still having fun despite the government shutdown...by....we won't go there. The time one spends with their loved ones us what counts. We will return. read more

I like this mall. It's one of the closer ones to where I live. Whenever I'm looking for some gifts for loved ones or just feel like window shopping, I enjoy walking around here. I appreciate their free gift wrapping. If you buy anything in the mall and bring your receipt to the customer service center (right in front of the Express store), the kind employees will wrap your gift for free. I'm not a big hang out in the mall for hours kinda person. If I want a change of environment or need to digest my food after eating somewhere inside the mall, I'll walk around a bit. I'm more of a know what I want, go to that store and get it, get out kinda person :P A few restaurants inside the mall that I appreciate are: -The Cheesecake Factory -Texas de Brazil (not as good as Chima or Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse, but still quite tasty). -BRIO Tuscan Grille (recently opened) -Hunan Chinese Gourmet (not the best, but quick and cheap Chinese eats) -Panda Express -Todai (pricey but this buffet does offer a nice variety of sushi and desserts) read more

I always forget about Fair Oaks considering Tysons Corner is close by and Springfield Town Center is a stone's throw (maybe more like 10 minutes) from me; however, when I do come here, I'm reminded I should consider Fair Oaks more often. Truth be told, the main reason I visit is Luv 2 Play, the indoor playground that is well- suited for toddlers. It isn't really crowded which is nice. Although, I do agree with several others that the layout is confusing and, at least for me, the elevators (for strollers) are hard to find. Parking can be a challenge but when I've come on weekdays, it's easy-peasy. There are quite a few restaurants attached to the mall which is an added bonus. Unfortunately with a toddler and another due next month, I don't get to shop often for myself, but I love having H&M and Forever 21 in one location so I'll remember to return the next time I want to treat myself to some new clothes. read more

It's not as grand as Tysons Corner mall--which is about 20-30 minutes away without traffic, but it's a bit more abundant than Potomac Mills Mall/Outlet. Popular restaurants include: The Cheesecake Factory, Brio, On the Border, and Texas de Brazil.They also have fast food options like...Chick Fil A, Panda Express, and A Hibachi Grill. Desserts? Godiva, Lolli and Pops, Hagan Daz, Monster Roll, Shilla Bakery, Kokee Boba, and Cinnabon. They have stores from Macy's to Nordstroms, Cotton On, H&M, Forever 21, Papaya, Hollister, Abercombie, etc. They have a cute little Santa exhibit on the Lower Level...although the staff working there are HORRIBLE. We were just looking for Santa Claus and one lady spewed out with a glare "Dont take pictures". We didn't even have our cameras or phones out. read more

I'm not a big mall person but I like this place better than Tysons since it's not as crowded and the traffic isn't quite as insane. This place seems like it was built in the 80s and not much has been done since then. The food court even has one of those old style mall eat-in Chick Fil-as that was the only kind I ever saw as a kid in Florida. They have a decent selection of stores here and a huge parking lot so you can get a spot much easier than at Tysons. This basically the mall that I'm assuming was THE mall back in the day but it's still worth a look if you need something at one of the stores here. read more

The mall's really struggling during the pandemic. The decision to close the concierge desk removed a key selling point for the mall, which was personalized service. And many of the stores are relatively low-end places designed to keep the lights on.
