The reps just kept saying that they needed my app open but it wouldn't open in the store. Apparently the phone number wasn't updated but they wouldn't even ask about an email address to find my number. They just kept saying they needed the app open. I wasted my time trying to pick up my drink and it was a futile attempt at getting my birthday reward. The second girl kept acting like I was lying. There are many stores that have been and still are standing in this shopping center for decades, which are/were my go-to shops: -BJ's Wholesale -Kohl's -Walmart -Best Buy There are also newer shops that have popped up since the last few years such as Aldi. Olive Garden is an OG restaurant, but there are also many other options such as McDonald's, Taco Bell, etc. They have expanded this shopping center over the years to accommodate the shoppers, growing traffic as well as nearby residents.

There are also various eateries, including Chuy's, Pho Bytes, Arigato Sushi, Dulce Crepes, Yu Noodles, Bombay Cafe, Fairfax Bakery, Nanjing Bistro, Grill Kabob Express, Wingstop, and many more. The parking area in front of Walmart is often full and can be narrow, making it confusing for first-time visitors to enter and exit. In contrast, ample parking is available on the side where many of the eateries are located.

Now this has become the closest UNIQLO from our home. Yay! Parking is easy with plenty of open spaces (although the store was packed with customers.) I usually enjoy browsing HomeSense for unique home items, but my recent visits left me…read moredisappointed. When I checked out on my last trip, the young gentleman at the register kept yawning and barely acknowledged me -- it came across as lacking basic manners and customer service. To make matters worse, a picture frame I bought turned out to be damaged in the corner when I unwrapped it at home. When I brought it back to return, the sales associate spoke to me in an accusatory tone and insisted that I had damaged it. I explained that I discovered the damage only after opening the packaging, but she refused to accept the return. Thankfully, I asked to speak with the Manager, who checked my receipt, realized I had purchased it just the day before, and resolved the situation professionally. I appreciated the manager stepping in, but the interaction should never have escalated to that point. Glad it was ultimately corrected, but the sales associate definitely needs better training in communication, customer courtesy, and how to handle returns without blaming customers.

Anyway...while he was at his appt., I decided to walk around the shopping center (FairLakes Promenade). I had seen Home Sense before but never got around to checking it out. Finally, got to do that today. At first glance, it looked like it was a furniture store. Yes, they have lots of furniture but a deeper look showed there was so much more. There are towels, bedding, kitchen utensils, household cleaning items, rugs and decorative items. My intention was just to look not buy. However, when I saw the food items, I realized that I needed a shopping cart. Things that caught my eye...imported pasta, pasta sauces, spices, sweets and a cleaning formulation for shower doors and mirrors. Truthfully, there were other items that attracted me but I exercised will power. For example, I saw a lovely vase but my sensible side said "we don't need another vase." There was artwork but sensible side said "We have enough of that and only so much wall space". When I went to check out, the cashier was friendly. I found out, when he tried to get me to sign up for a credit card, that they are part of a conglomerate that includes TJ Maxx. No, we don't need another credit card! My haul ended up costing $35 plus change. Once we were home, I showed my husband my haul. He asked what it cost and was pleasantly surprised. Aw, gee! I'm so proud of myself :D So, no regrets for paying Home Sense a visit!

There are a few boutique type of stores. These all have me yawning as I drink coffee. Situated on Jermantown and 29, this is a good location. It's certainly close to 66, and other intersections traversed heavily. It looks better than the dump of a strip mall slightly east of here. Getting in and out during midday is a cinch. Rush hour can change this. I wish they had more exciting retailers, but the snooze button is what's going on.
