Biggest and most amazing dollar store I've ever been in. It's near my dentist so after every appointment, for a reward after leaving the tooth torturer, I stop in just to be amazed. My only complaint is - they have a good size parking lot in back but to get in, you go down a long driveway that won't fit one car in each direction. So if you're going in and out and someone comes the other way, someone has to back up to let the other go in/out. If some idiot comes flying in the other direction, make sure you have your insurance card handy. read more

Bad experience So I'm trying to return an item but I didn't have the Receipt.... First they told me without sticker and receipt we can't do anything, and I had the sticker but no receipt, they called their manager, she was so busy she didn't even answer her phone, and when she answers she is like no receipt we can't do Anything. I had my bank statement that shows I was there what time and when..... Only this location sell this kind purses, but they don't know what they have or what stuff they're selling.... Price is not much they could exchange it . If you are looking for a dollar store, this has to be the holy grail of dollar stores. Clean, organized, friendly staff. It's got a TON of items in a variety of categories. I went for their crafts amd decor for a birthday and I swear they could compete with Michaels on items, but on price they beat Michaels by at least 100%! Used to love this place. It's two blocks from where I live and has everything. Half the stuff is great priced too. I've recommended kids from the local high school to go and apply here as a great first job. The general staff is some of the nicest people. But today I went into the store and was followed around the entire time by a really overly creepy man. I was in the store for 20 minutes and he followed me for roughly 15 of that time. But it wasn't just that. He would walk up behind patrons and peer over their shoulders and try to look into everyone's purses and such. I get trying to protect your business from theft, but there is a line. At one point he walked to the end of an aisle and just stared at me for a good half the time I was in the store because I wanted to see how long he'd do it. It was so awkward I took a picture of him to try to make him feel weird so he'd leave me alone. I saw what looked like him taking a picture in some ladies bag with the tablet he was carrying around. He walked away after and she said I think he took a picture of my stuff. And I said I'd noticed it. I said something to the cashier, where I found out he is one of the owners here and was immediately put off by the whole idea of shopping here anymore. Almost let it go. But then a little later my wife went by and had a similar experience. Came and told me about a creep who was so close he probably knew her blood type. Caught him basically right over her shoulder where he then pretended to do inventory. I showed her the picture I took and she was like yup that's him. Said he looked into her purse when she was looking to see if she brought her bank card which made her feel very unsafe. I've heard from friends of the store that this store has gotten hit hard by theft. I get being protective over your business. But there is a right and wrong way to do it. read more

When I was there at the 1st time, I liked the place. They have pretty many products. Everything was $1.25+tax. However, the catch is nothing is refundable or unchangeable even though the product has a problem. What is it? Is it a mafia ownership store??? I was So thirsty. They had cold bottles of perrier, so, I bought it. I brought it to my car and opened it and drank it, but there was no carbonation. Cardonated water in the glass bottle doesn't have carbonation? That means it is really old or they stored it wrong. It is the same as I bought a loaf of bread and it has mold in it. So, I asked for exchange, but the manager lady said she can't exchage or refund after I made $15.66 of purchase from them. Really?? Put yourself in customer's shoes, lady.. I Just asked for exchange.. not even refund cuz I was thirsty anyways.., but she just refused it. She did not even say an apologetic word. Is it even legal to sell that condition of products..? I can't open all the bottles to check up if it is ok before I purchase it. I was so upset about her attitude and the quality of the product they sold me not only about the money.. Decent selection but the cashiers overcharge me every single time I've been there! I'm not sure if it is intentional or they are just not bright, but I have seen completely random items on my receipt that I did not purchase, on at least 4 separate occasions. They also will give you a very hard time trying to return anything, they will make up excuses not to take back items even when their return policy states that the items are eligible for return. If you do shop here I suggest you watch them like a hawk while they are ringing you up, and inspect your receipt thoroughly before walking out! read more

Never trust employees, supervisors or store owner at dollar king in 1222 E. Colorado st. Glendale, CA. They are bunch of liers and crooks. I had to purchase 3 items and I told the cashier I will be needing only two, but because she already rang the 3rd item and I wise running late I told her I will be using two of these and return the 3rd item in couple hours. In hour and a half, I went back to return the 3rd item, the same cashier "Marine", "said I have to give you store credit", I said I want my money back. She went to the supervisor and came back telling me the system is not working right now, came back later today or tomorrow. I went back the next day, another supervisor took the item and my receipt and gave me a gift receipt. I said what is this? she said a store credit. I asked for my original receipt, she refused to give it back to me. explained to her what happened the day before, she contacted the store owner (she said) then came back and said she can't do anything only to give me store credit. Bought some mini fans, and needed to return them. The manager on site said she couldn't take them back because "There aren't any on the shelf, we're sold out, so I can't take them back." Wow! It's probably the most popular dollar shop in town. There are so many people buying things here. Two guys are in the parking lot directing people to turn in and out of parking lot. Insane! I have never seen any dollies store like this. It's like a Trader Joe's version of dollar store. (Weird example.) Things are very organized and the price is reasonable. Even thought it's not 99 cent, but with the selections you have in the store. I think it's pretty good. I came in to get some Christmas gift wraps and bags. Was planning a birthday party and randomly found this store. Came inside and walked out with so many cheap goodies and trinkets for the birthday decor. You can spend a good hour or two in here, because everything is $1.11. I think I spent at least $30 on party decor. They give you 14 days to make exchanges, but no returns are allowed. I'm glad I came here first to get some of the party supplies, and also coupling it with a trip to Party City and/or Hobby Lobby. For those that don't know about Dollar King - it's definitely the king of dollars! You can find a lot of quality stuff (even a real harmonica - not that cheap plastic kind) here for a $1.31! I like coming here for nice gift bags, simple toys, and bake goods. How does it compare to 99 cents and Dollar Tree? Well, it's just different. There's something amusing about cruising the aisles while thinking to myself, "No, that's a dollar? Stop playin'!" or "Dude, that's definitely a dollar." You just never know what a Washington can get you these days. Found a nice glass drinking pitcher my first time around. I could already see it being passed around a breakfast table, pouring out fresh squeezed orange juice or sweet tea... but so much for that. I ended up using it as a terrarium. Dollar King is comparable to other dollar stores in many ways but trumps the competition when it comes to makeup. A whole aisle is devoted to it with brands like Jordana and L.A. COLORS. My goodness... this place has EVERYTHING (and it's well organized!)!!! I thought Dollar Tree was the ultimate Dollar Store, but Dollar King is far more superior. You can find all these random hair gels, dyes, school supplies (including those transparent plastic binders that they sell at Office Depot), baskets, and an endless supply of cosmetics! Eye liner, Eye Shadow, lip stick, & more random colorful things. I'm sure they're not the best quality make up, but I'm sure kids will love 'em... plus its just ONE dollar! I found the same high quality ceramic dog bowls that they sell at PETCO for $12.99 each for one dolla here! You can also find amazing masquerade masks here. Masks include interesting high quality, cut-outs, feathers, glitter covered, and bedazzle masks for just ONE DOLLER! Michaels would easily sell these mask for $20. Did I also mention a wide arrange of fake flowers? Get your mom/girlfriend a gift that will never die... for just --- Okay, I'll stop. But seriously this place is worth coming to. I love Dollar King they have everything there hehe. I usually go there to buy things that I know won't be cheaper anywhere else . They have a great selection of different useful/random items, which is awesome! :D I recently bought a lot of baby shower decor for my sister and bought beach sand buckets and shovels . The place has everything (some good quality, some "ok", but hey it's a dollar store) for a low price. There is ample parking in the back, staff always knows where items are located. Our 102 yo friend called asking for an eyeglass chain! Now I had no idea where I'd find one easily! But realized there was a Dollar King store just up the street from her assisted living facility. We found a parking place easily, ran in, and the very helpful young lady stocking shelves took me right to the end display! Our friend was so pleased...and we all shared a laugh when John told her the chain is solid gold! By far one of the best dollar stores I've been too. Clean, well stocked. Don't worry it's not one of those that draw you in with the "dollar" in the name only to have certain items over $1, everything is actually just $1. The staff is nice and friendly and actually happy to be there, the management actually want to help and do what they can. As far as dollar stores go, I'm pretty stoked this one is as close to me as it is. Yes the 99Cent Only stores are good, though they always have exactly the same stuff and not much variation from store to store. Thank you, Dollar King! They have tons of stuff that I can't find elsewhere for $1 and some items I find myself staring at in disbelief... because more than likely, some small child made it in some third world country and we get to purchase it for a mere dollar. Not funny, though how else they sell half the stuff they do for so cheap is a complete mystery to me... well, I guess that goes for most dollar stores but anyhow... They do have an enormous aisle devoted solely to makeup and nail polish, though I can't seem to buy makeup that isn't a brand, sorry... others seem to love it though and to be perfectly honest, I have definitely been tempted because it doesn't look too crappy. Their craft isle (yes that's right, I said it, craft isle!) is pretty awesome too considering I've never seen an entire aisle for crafts alone and it always seems to have things I could design into something else... a definite plus with the Jennster. The store is pretty large and never overly crowded, lines (if present) are always efficient and the large parking lot around the back is never full. The reason for 4 and not 5 stars is probably because I think they could stock more (if not better, more brand name) grocery items. They definitely have some but the 99Cent Only store trumps them in that category. If you need a reason to be tempted to drop by, some of the items I've picked up here were: BBQ tools with wooden handles, ie spatula, tongs, brushes & forks... helium balloons! and a decent card section for bdays, holidays & such... Little mini pet toys, always a plus for our 6 pounder ;) Tons of holiday decor... Halloween costumes (now anyway), some cool xmas ornaments (some cooler than the average plastic crap.. ie multicolored peacocks!) Gardening supplies (though I think these are somewhat seasonal), from knee pads to pots and tools, etc Craft supplies, ie foam &/or wooden letters, scrapbook paper!, stickers, acrylic paints, tons of randoms really... Get in and check it out for yourself if you're the dollar store hunting type. They really do have lots of totally unexpected finds... for crying out loud, I even found a costume jewelry ring that had a large rose setting studded with crystals... sounds tacky lol, looks nice when accessorized properly.
