First of all I may be a compulsive shopper but I actually check the expiration dates on any item I put in my shopping cart. This store fails that test with too many items with short , same day or already expired dates. This is a failure on the manager level. Second issue is a major problem at checkout. The store is commendable in that it hires a large number of packers who are intellectually disabled but there is evidently no back up or oversight. Time and time again I return home to find missing items or whole bags. Granted I should probably keep a hawk eye out for every movement made by the packers but is this really my responsibility?

After two shopping experiences, I am blown away by the difference as the Publix across the street is deplorable. The staff here is friendly and helpful. Every item I've wanted on sale or not has been in stock. They have every type of publix branded cheese available including the shaved Italian mix and crumbled goat cheese. So far the produce selection has been stellar. They also had a full seafood counter with everything in stock. Perhaps Publix is still a pleasure if you go to the right store.

As an adult, I was my grandmother's caregiver when she could no longer shop for herself. She would send me with her check, her ID, and I'd show my ID. This was never an issue. Ever. Fast forward to now -- I'm caring for my dad. He's feeble, can't walk well, can't hear well, and cannot comprehend things the way he used to. I handle his grocery shopping. I did it three weeks ago the exact same way. No problem. Today? Suddenly I'm told, "No, you're not on the check. It's our policy. We can't accept it." When I asked when the policy changed, I was told it never changed and whoever helped me before was "wrong." I'm calling BS on that. So let me get this straight -- I can present his ID, my ID, I'm clearly the caregiver, and you're still refusing the check? For elderly people who still use checks because that's what they know? Yes, checks may be old school -- but so are a lot of your loyal customers. The ones you claim to care so much about. Thankfully, I had the money in my own account today, and going forward I'll be fine -- I have a better-paying job starting soon. But that's not the point. The point is this policy (or the way it's being enforced) is ridiculous, inconsiderate, and completely disconnected from reality. Between this experience and the way it was handled, I will no longer be shopping at Publix. After a lifetime of loyalty, this was the final straw. Do better.

It is always clean, well organized, and easy to navigate... they make small changes but for the most part the setup of the store remains the same. But more importantly, it is the people. There is something special about being around fellow service members and veterans. Only we truly understand each other. There is a shared experience that creates an instant sense of connection. Every visit turns into lighthearted memorable conversations, laughter in the aisles, and sometimes we make new connections. It feels less like a chore and more like community time. My father only gained assess recently so we are still getting used to the ins and outs of everything. As I am not listed as a "caregiver" for my Dad, it is kind of a pain to have to always stop and get a day pass for me to be able to drive him back onto the base but small price to pay. There are plenty of items that we do not buy there as they are close to the same price as Publix or other stores and if the stores are having a BOGO, there isn't a chance but there are tons of stuff that are lower in price and worth the drive. I am mindful of pricing per pound and chicken is not something we'll ever buy there as really the options are limited and pricing, not worth it, especially compared to Sam's or other club pricing. Recently, we tried out their online Click 'N Go and though it is extremely helpful for someone like my Dad who has trouble walking around much, I was somewhat disappointed. There is a specific item that my parents love and the quality and pricing is amazing so when ordering a large amount of numbers, the butcher staff told the Click 'N Go staff they didn't have enough packages to complete our order. I actually ordered 2 days ahead of time, not because I thought they would set them aside for us by 2 days but so they knew they had a large order coming up and would have time to prep and be able to complete the order fully but no success. On a hunch, I felt there would be a good chance that if I walked into the store and they would have more in the meat department and I was right. They had more than enough and we were there early so I know they prepped them that morning and just didn't want to have to do more for the store itself. Honestly, why does it matter if it goes to a Click 'N Go order or to someone walking in the store? I did mention this to the staff member that brought out our order because she apologized for not having the full order... she was shocked because she said that she specifically talked to them about our order as she was also the one who walked the store collecting our items. At the end of the day, we got the number of packages we wanted, but I shouldn't have had to walk into the store to do so myself. Just complete the order if you truly have the numbers to do so. I don't feel it was appropriate to act like they didn't have enough because they didn't want to do more work or that now I'll always feel I have to go in personally to check if the numbers are off. Other than that staff issue, we have had zero issues with customer service and everyone has been very helpful when trying to find something. They always are very accommodating towards my Dad and his need to go sit down while I am checking out for him. He is a typical Marine and even at the age of 78 with very bad knees, refuses to use any motorized carts, etc. so he gives them his card and goes to sit down while I handle the rest for him. Be sure to be mindful that the baggers only work for tips so be kind, ESPECIALLY when they are taking out your groceries for you and packing up your car.
