In fact, it's the first grocery store I've been to in the US where the courtesy clerk (bagger) automatically brings your groceries to your car. I don't know if they do this with everyone, but we had assistance both times we shopped here. Maybe it was because my sisters are pretty, or because we had a cartful each time, or both. The prices are low, but I deduct a star for their very limited selection of whole grain breads and pastas. TIP: get the Brookshire's Thank You card to save money. It takes about 2-5 minutes, depending on how fast you type into the kiosk. It's a nice store in a very small town.

Man, this has to be one of the BEST Cheeseburgers I've ever eaten! I'm a sucker for Crinkle Fries, too. The store is so clean and welcoming. It's decorated with red booths and chairs, antique farming equipment & tools , old fishing rods & lures, old Barlow & Case Pocket Knives with Old Gunsmoke TV Shows playing on the Huge Flat Screen. There's also an old 70's Pin Ball Machine in the corner. I like it! The store carries minimal groceries, Bread, Mustard, Mayo., Pickles, Chips, Cookies, Candy, Paper Towels, TP, Cleaning Supplies, Cold Drinks, Ice, Tylenol, Advil...etc. It's all fresh and the store only carries @ 5-10 loaves Bread, packages of Cookies, & Bags of Chips, at a time. That way the food stays fresh. The Phalba Store also sells Local Seasonal Vegetables......cantaloupe, watermelon, tomatoes, squash, purple hull peas, blackeyed peas, etc., all very reasonably priced. The Shinning Star to me is their Cheeseburger & Crinkle Fries! I hope The Phalba Store will continue to stay open for many years to come. It's a great little Stop if you're ever out that way. Twice this week I was in a short line and a issue with the customers phone coupon and even though three people ended up working on the issue they didn't seem to have a clue how to resolve the problem. The second time was a weather related problem with the thank you card discounts. There is a gentleman named Henry that I have watched for a couple of years and he should be the manager of this store. His energy level and his intellect make him stand out. I've seen him be thoughtful and helpful for seniors and I can't imagine him letting a checkout line being stopped dead over a coupon or 5% discount.
