Came from TSC to see what's changed. I've seen a lot of bad reviews. Parking lot was fine and was able to access a handicap spot. Neighbor was surprised to see the produce, even after I had mentioned it several times. An employee was stocking the Valentine's Day merchandise, even though we have a week until Christmas Day. Everything was well organized. Prices were typically Dollar General, not inexpensive nor expensive. Some workers are nice, but the Latina manager, Anthony, and this Latina girl with black long hair and glasses are 'very' unprofessional. The manager at this location is quite rude. She had an issue to address with me, and instead of waiting until I finished at the register, and pulling me away. She loudly made some comments and Completely embarrassed me. Totally unprofessional. All in front of other customers and her cashier. Wasn't stealing or even being rude. Totally something she SHOULD have addressed in private. Will not be returning and have told friends and family in town to no longer shop there. Corporate, do better. I go to this store a lot , I use there weekly coupon and have used it to buy the rug doctor shampoo but today they said I can't use it for that anymore?? And the coupon said it's not for the rug doctor rental Not for the shampoo s they should charge it on the coupon to say or any of the products. I made sure I had enough stuff to use it and what groceries and cleaning products cost every little bit helps so for them to not honor it since it's not clear was not right I won't shop here again I'll go to another store were they aren't rude about explaining this. I got stormed at by around 5 workers, felt threatened because I was being accused of shoplifting. They were all speed walking towards me and the head manager asked me if I had anything in my pockets, I said no, because I did not, then I got asked if I was sure, I said yes, and the head manager said something along the lines of he's going to check the cameras to see if I did not steal. They approached me as if they were loan sharks and were going to attack me. I would put 0 stars if I could. read more

Jeanette was rude when I asked if I can use the restroom, cut me off before I was able to finish my question and She gave an over explanation as to why the women's restroom was closed. They are always making up lies, and accusing people of things. They have cameras so they really need to stop that. Some of the workers always seem like they're having a bad day. Food selection is okay, not bad if you're in a pinch. But there are better places to go for sure lmao. read more

Ever since store has gone under new management customer service is horrible. Only one or two cashiers open when there is a huge line, literally down to the toy aisle. Manager doesnt care either, all he does is walk around the store & make it look like hes actually doing something. Previous manager shawn was very quick to have his employees open more registers & get all the customers out within in five minutes or less, lines moved quick when previous manager was around. Now, I go in for one or two things & take 15 minutes to get out of the store . Shelves are always empty, store is a mess! Pass employees have all quit as well, noticed a lot of new horrible employees. read more

The dollar general store is a bit misleading. It opened at the beginning of 2012 in the old Mar-Val grocery store spot in downtown Ripon. They did a lot of construction to change the fascade and made the interior look more industrial and warehouse-like. The store itself is NOT a dollar store by any means, even thought the name sort of indicates that. The store has groceries, along with frozen foods and some basic produce and beverages, as well as home goods, seasonal items, clothing, and drug store type products. It seemed to have quite a few older people shopping around in it, which may be what they are targeting since the store is surrounded with the bethel retirement communities. The pricing seemed fairly in-line with other stores. I would go here if I was in a pinch, otherwise I would continue driving to Target or going to a grocery store for more selection/better products. read more

Went to DG Ripon today to get 6 red and white helium balloons. Asked clerk at check stand 1if they had. She said yes and got a other checker on 3 to wait on me. I told him I needed 3 red 3 white helium balloons. He went to see if they had helium. He came back a d said yes. Then went into managers office for instructions or key or something. Manager came out then and said all they have is mylar balloons so I would have to buy my own balloons. A d $1 each to fill. So I went to party isle grabbed a whole bag of red and bag of white. Took to helium room and manager said it would be more than $30 to fill. I said no I will buy both bags but I only said to fill 6. 3+3. 6. So then clerk begins filling balloon when manager comes out and says, "you have to buy the string, we dont have string to tie them". YOU ARE KIDDING ME! so I go get a package of ribbon...not string. The clerk seemed to have trouble tying the first string. Couldn't do it. And it was only 3ft long. So I told him we could put the balloons in a bag and I would tie them at home because they were for outside. They needed long string tied securely. So he.proceded to try to put them in DG bag. Only one balloon fits per bag. When I saw that I said wait no I dont want to pay for 6 bags so I went and got a box of trash bags. The manager now has gone to his office and closed door. The clerk said he would ring me out on check stand 3. 2 bags of balloons, package of 6 collored rolls of curling ribbons. Didn't have plain single rolls. Box of tall kitchen trash bags, and 6 helium fills. UNBELIEVABLE! ...THE WORST MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE I EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY 65 YEARS. EVER. I SHOULD HAVE WENT TO THE DOLLAR TREE STORE. I WILL NEVER SHOP DOLLAR GENERAL AGAIN...EVER...DOLLAR TREE IS FRIENDLY AND HELPFULL AND RESPECTFUL AND CLEAN. read more

Not a big fan of this store, but maybe I'm just not a big fan of Dollar Generals...in general. This location used to be a Mar-Val super market. It was small, had a deli, butcher shop, and a bakery, and had friendly employees that nearly made up for their small selection of grocery goods. This Dollar General has none of those things. They completely remodeled the store prior to opening a couple years ago, but the place still seems old and dirty. The employees aren't rude, but they are certainly not over the top nice or helpful. I prefer SaveMart or CVS for buying just about everything they sell at Dollar General. read more
