Smart & Final is alright. Smart & Final has a wild pricing system. You will come in one day and a certain item will be one price. You come in the next week and that same item has doubled in price. The third week, the same item will be less than on the first visit. And this is all without that item even going on sale. Sometimes prices are great and will beat their competitor's prices. Other times they will grossly overcharge you for something you can get at a fraction of the cost elsewhere. This pricing inconsistency makes it difficult to want to be a frequent shopper. That being said, they do offer a wide variety of items. They might carry a particular obscure brand that you can't find at any other grocery store but might not carry another super popular or mainstream brand. They also sell a mix of individual and bulk items with a huge liquor selection. The staff members are very friendly. They don't hesitate to drop what they're doing to help you or grab something from the back. The store is organized a bit awkwardly so when there aren't many workers, the line gets long and wraps into the aisles. Since its renovation, this store became huge and industrial. I would not necessarily recommend this as your go-to grocer. read more

They have a bathroom but won't let customers use it. I give them lots of my money and they would not let my 3yr old use the bathroom. She peed her pants running across lot to sanwhich shop they immediately let us use their bathroom. I had to carry my daughter with soiled shorts on back into the store to retrieve my other kid who I left with a full cart of groceries I was about to purchase beforehand, and said leave it let's go! So embarrassed for my baby and mad as f I was crying. They profile customers. read more

I've been shopping here for years and I never thought I'd be writing a negative YELP about this store. For the last decade, particularly from 2015 to 2020, you could tell this store was well managed. (I think the manager's name was Anthony. I could be wrong) No longer. Tonight, after saying nothing to me after I said "Hello" the checkout clerk mumbled something I couldn't hear. After I said, "Excuse me?" She mumbled it again, making ZERO effort to speak clearly. (Don't you just LOVE it when low-talkers make you, make them repeat themselves over and over?) So I said, "I'm sorry, I can't hear you" to which she bellowed, "DO YOU NEED BAAAGS?!" as if to say, "How dare you make me repeat myself!" I told her I didn't need bags and I guess that meant to her, that once the items were scanned, her job was over. After I paid for my groceries, I had to reach over the payment terminal to slide my groceries, which were bunched around the scanner, to the end of the counter and put load up my cart, as the checkout clerk and the employee standing next to her watched me. I'm not kidding. They weren't helping the next customer, or talking, they were WATCHING ME DO THEIR JOBS. - Then she handed me my receipt to which I said, "Thank you" which she ignored, turned around and started helping the next person in line. - I was a district manager for Trader Joes for 8 years and I don't think I EVER saw an employee blatantly ignore a customer like that. I realize people have bad days, but this isn't just one thing. The employees here act the complete opposite of how they did not too long ago, like management completely changed/they have an absentee manager. A couple weeks ago the "contactless reader" on payment terminal scanned one of my credit cards that was still in my METAL wallet. (?) I told the clerk I didn't want a charge going on that particular card and she stood there, puzzled. So I said, "Can't we just delete this transaction and start over?" Without even thinking about it she said, "Ummm, naw, we can't do that." She could, she just didn't want the hassle of getting the manager, etc. I had to argue to have the error, no fault of my own, fixed. (No customer should have to argue for that) I wouldn't write a comment like this based on just one negative experience. Everyone has a bad day. But the employees seem generally unhappy, disinterested and poorly trained. If this is what Smart & Final employees are going to be like, I may as well shop at Winco. read more

If I could give no stars I would. Here I am having a great day this Kelli wants to kill it. Before I even had a chance to ask a question I handed her a box and said "I'm sorry I wasn't to sure to do with it." Thinking they had some In the back because they had 3 boxes on display before I could even get my full sentence across Kelli wants to give a snappy attitude for no reason, remind you I apologized before any others words and came out. Then I tell her like hey that was kind of aggressive I didn't even get to ask you my question before you snapped and she still was rude after that then proceededs to walk over to her coworker stand and say "I'll tell you later." Like girl wait until you're off the clock to talk crap about your customers. Then didn't even want to touch my money like something was wrong with it like it was over $200 I was giving a $100 at a time and she wouldn't pick it up for whatever weird reason. Clean, conveniently located in the shopping plaza and well-stocked! I come here to buy in bulk for work events. They have a great selection of flavors, brands and supplies. It's my 1-stop-shop! For example, I had to host a root beer float for a summer event which meant a ton of people! I purchased gallons of ice cream, several bottles of root beer (they have different brands to choose from and diet or regular), cups, spoons, napkins, etc. I will be coming again since summer is right around the corner and I have another event in a week. Smart and Final is newly renovated and has expanded! They took over the Rooms Express store and it is large and has so many deals and new areas to explore like a coffee section, bulk foods, fresh produce, and the prices are insanely low even more than Walmart. I like how they buy in bulk and pass the savings onto the customer. The management is very customer oriented and friendly, they all go above and beyond to assist the customer. I will be shopping there very often for my home and grocery essentials! read more

I have bought 3 rotten watermelons from here & 2 spoiled cottage cheese. Cashier asked if I found everything, I said not really, there is no coffee or regular pine sol on the shelf & she said oh. I asked when fresh watermelon comes in she said I think tomorrow. I told her about my recent experiences & she said did u bring them back? I said one cottage cheese I did but the next was spoiled too & i'm sorry but i'm not coming back multiple times with a cut watermelon. Majority of the time, we have great service. They have great prices! When some of the items run out on the shelf and I ask if there are more in the store, most of the time they help me find it. A couple of times they've told me they've ran out of it but then I find it sitting like right there. The lines are long most of the time. However, the manager and staff make up for that! read more

First time at this store Saturday evening. Found plenty of items on sale- Big Plus! Check out experience was a complete nightmare! Check stand #2 light was ON but no cashier. Waited a bit then went to another line. Customer ahead of us purchased many items. Not sure if the customer forgot or had a damaged item but the cashier left her register to look for something? Not usually a big deal, but she must have been gone at least 10 - 15 minutes! Meanwhile the lines continue to grow (other open register is 10 items or less). The missing cashier for checkstand #2 shows up but takes the customers from the less item line. Our missing cashier walks past the end of our line and says "I think I found it but I can't reach". Then continues to keep walking to the other side of the store. My items are on the conveyor belt so I wait a few more minutes. Like anyone I become impatient. I'm pressed for time so I decide I cannot wait any longer! I walked out of the store leaving my items on the belt. I felt bad but there's absolutely no excuse for a cashier to disappear for such a long length of time while other customers are waiting! Couldn't she have called someone for assistance? Was she even allowed to leave? If so, for that long? Where's the manager? The store was very busy, how can she account for the register inactivity during that time?
