I have to say this by far is a store with the best customer service. There is a man named Barney , who has the best attitude on any given day or hour. I was in the store and all of a sudden felt as if i was going to faint, Barney got me water & a chair & even offered to call someone for me. Another dollar store full of cheap Chinese garbage. Nothing new to see here. Literally the last thing Grass Valley needed occupying this space. All the Karens complaining about the service in these reviews would do well to remember that you get what you pay for. Very rude staff and clientele. The store is usually disheveled and it's hard to find things. Always smells like old cigarettes. Their theft deterrent system is a racial profiling tactic. Only their darker skin foundations have anti-theft stickers on them. My daughter noticed this a few days ago and took a picture with her phone. Very sketchy. Hicks in this town need to get on with life and treat people with more respect and kindness. Zero class establishment. read more

Never been in this store before. Was a little chaotic! everything thrown everywhere. Not sure which tag goes to what and what price is for what. Needs to be more organization happening in here ASAP. People who go in here think it's another dollar store and then get angry and harsh towards when the realize they made a mistake. It's not a dollar store. It's a discount store. (The general saves you dollars). So regardless of people's notions, it isn't a bad store. It's a decent size, and they have a broad selection (food to clothes, feminine and toiletries to cosmetics and hair, toys, movies, holiday decorations, toys, house stuff, tech stuff, etc.) The service is good when they have full staffing but they have been short handed they tell me. They also told me they're working on that so *shrug* the prices on most of all of it are good deals, just don't buy chips from them (idk why chips in particular are more expensive there then at Save Mart but they are). Updated 10-28-15 This store is great! I found my deodorant for $1 on an aisle near the middle of the store, going towards the milk. Not in the regular place, so you need to look around. This isn't a "dollar" store, but things are definitely cheaper! Glad to see this fine store very busy when I went in, but they didn't give any bags, so bring your own. I love this store, it's not a one dollar store, so get over it. Stuff is inexpensive. Vitamins are cheap, lower than Kmart, soap is cheaper than Kmart and target. It's wonderful. Baby wipes cheaper, candy cheaper...I can go on. I will always shop here, it's out of my way, but it helps my budget for sure. And the cashiers go out of their way to help find things and get merchandise I can't reach! Kudos to them and the store. I hope everybody shops here. We need new businesses here in Grass Valley, so go and support them! read more

I love this store. They usually have everything I came in for. Love the prices on certain items. I gave Dollar General three stars because of their poor customer service and their efficiency. I have noticed the employees are not very friendly and they are frequently not at the register when u are ready to check out. I usually find the employees following around certain customers. Im guessing they have a promblem with theft. Not everyone is out to steal. Don't make paying customers wait at the register wanting to check out. Do your job read more

Overly priced I thought the employees there are not very friendly. I asked one of them a question and to help me out. They were very rude and no help at all. I was excited to have a large selection of $1 items but as it turns out almost nothing in this "DOLLAR" store is actually a dollar. There was no system for lining up to pay, which leaves customers confused plus the cashiers have zero warm or customer service skills. My cashier barely looked up from her register. I visited once...would never go back or recommend it to anyone! Very disappointed in the prices! 'Dollar General' implies generally everything should be a dollar! Quite the opposite...prices range on up to $79 for something you can purchase elsewhere cheaper! Does a disservice to our indigent population, who are on tight budgets, with a temptation to spend more money. On the other hand, 'Dollar Store' and 'Dollar Tree' in GV both carry a multitude of choices; they put thought into what they are selling; and their name is not misleading in their pricing. Granted you can't purchase a $79 tablet, but then, when I go into a 'Dollar' store, I'm not looking to purchase a tablet! So sad that another one of these may go into Alta Sierra!!!! So, so sad!!!
