We were in the area and found the Goodwill in Grass Valley. I wish our local (Modesto) Goodwill had the clothing (and other items) selection this Goodwill has! They had some really nice brand name clothing items for decent prices. The customer service was wonderful! The employees were very friendly and easy to chat with. The manager went above and beyond by bringing me a shopping cart when she saw my arms full of the clothing I was finding and sorting through! One small disappointment to me was that the identity protection roller stamp I bought was not pre-filled with ink. I would have preferred if it was. I think it will come in handy, but to be honest I have not used it yet, because it wasn't filled with any ink (it comes in the box so the customer can fill it up). Went to buy a lantern, asked if they tested it first they said "no" then I asked if it doesn't can I return I was told "yes within 7days of purchase". It didn't work and when I went to return it the manager said "no returns" lol right right got me good they must really needed my 5 dollars .. pretty pathetic employees not trained to even the most basic of policies? read more

Simples stuff like utensils and other things are overpriced. They want more fora a spoon, fork or common bread knife than Target is selling new for one dollar each. Staff was good though and I did buy a few things. But kitchen stuff needs to be organized better. read more

This Goodwill has a very convenient drop off and is also clean and well organized inside.

Clothing wise, the selection is unimpressive but I can only blame that so much on them. That's always going to be determined by the types of donations they are receiving locally (for the most part). The shoe selection is halfway decent, though I have no idea how consistent that is. The store is clean and quiet. The prices here are on par with Bay Area Goodwill locations which is a bit much given Goodwill is fairly overpriced to begin with. It's nothing to write home about but I found a few decent items and would probably come back. read more

One of the worst Goodwills I've ever been in. The selection is really MEH, and to top it off the prices are OUTRAGEOUS. Mostly very old, outdated, very worn shoes and clothing. I shop Goodwill in Roseville and Sacramento often, and these prices are triple or more what you find in those town, which made me think they are taking advantage of being the only Goodwill up in this community. On my visit, they had a bunch of new lamps and cheap particle board furniture, and it was insane how they priced it. Some cheap, off brand lamps that were technically new, but they were $40, $50, and $60 bucks with no lampshade. You can get no name lamps at Target cheaper, and they'd be current styles with a lampshade. There were some cheap, flimsy pressboard dressers and storage carts which were up to $129. At a Goodwill. Staff seemed nice. Thats about the only good thing about this Goodwill. read more

The service at this goodwill is exceptional. The floor manager Anna always has a smile and is very helpful to find even little things to the customers. Even people who are in the street and trying make there way. I am so grateful to the men and women in this store. They are rare and willing to go the extra mile for any customer that needs help. I'm a former employee that had been working for Goodwill for about a year. I cannot believe I wasted so much time in this disgusting place. Goodwill's main selling point is they provide job offers for those who have difficulty finding jobs elsewhere. But don't let this fool you. A job at GoodWill, ESPECIALLY at this location, is not something anyone should have to endure. The biggest problem I have is with the management. I did, and still do, really like a few of the managers. Dan, you're my man. And I have no qualms with Anne or Logan. But where it really gets disgusting is with a certain middle-aged, blond haired manager I won't name. This woman is the type of manager NO ONE wants to have. She tries to present herself as sweet (I actually believed the act for my first few months, and was confused why other employees complained about her), but if you work with her enough, she'll show her true colors eventually. From my experience, she'll show heavy favoritism for some employees, letting them get away with things she'll punish others for. She'll never give straight answers for these punishments either, just leaving you confused. Worst of all, she seems to find enjoyment in this. She seems to ENJOY IT when one of the employees is disciplined. You can see the glee in her face. How she's still in a position of management is beyond me. The management isn't my only problem with this place, however. The conditions are awful as well. Employees aren't allowed to sit when doing work in which sitting would be a lot more comfortable, such as pricing items at a desk or sorting quality donations from ones they can't sell. Instead, employees are forced to stand on these so called "low fatigue" mats, which I can tell you first hand do absolutely nothing to reduce fatigue. Employees are expected to stand in one place for their entire shift. Please, DO NOT choose to work here. It's not worth it. Safeway is right next door, and they're always looking for new employees. I've heard it's not that great there either, but it's surely better than working at Goodwill. read more

Hit and miss. Sometimes good items (rarely) but what I find comical are the asking prices on items. Pricing items that can be found elsewhere cheaper or marking the item at a price that was once considered new. Keep in mind Goodwill receives donations thus making huge profit off what is donated. Really hope customers begin to see the greediness this company bleeds. It's not the employees at the locations but the ones running the show. Most of the items found here in Goodwill or at other locations can be found new at other stores. read more

Well they are always available to take whatever donation were willing to offer, it breaks my heart that there aren't more places to donate items that are willing to take all the household items. I just refused to drive all over town to give my very nice household items to whomever feels like taking my donation that day and then going to another thrift so you load the rest of he items. Sometimes you can find something great here, sometimes it's just a huge mess. Okay mostly it's a huge mess, especially the crafts area, forget trying to find anything, and you are afraid to take something off the shelf because everything will tumble, like Jenga. The cashiers are super nice and so are some stockers but I had a guy say something really off color to me and it creeped me out. The younger men trying to stock are always in a bad mood, I think they really hate their jobs. One thing I have never understood about any of the Goodwill stores is they put everything in the giant bins to stock the shelves, but there is no care. If they are stocking plates or cups, so much damage is done in those bins and in the stocking process. What is the point? They could actually sell way more items if they didn't just dump everything in a rolling cart to get broken or chipped. It makes no sense to me. Why not use carts with shelves for the breakable items? Other thrift stores do. read more

Not one single piece of clothing on the ground, everything was in the correct spot and just so much to look at! I am about to start a movement and post pictures of some of the most ridiculous torn up trashed items they are trying to sell and of some of the most ridiculous over priced tags on these used items. There has been a complete change in this store. A few months back they had some higher ups in the store apparently shaping things up. Since their invasion it has went down hill. There was a tall guy with shaggy blonde hair who was watching the counter and when an item was rung up he walked over to look at it and loudly said "go ahead - this isnt marked right" then stormed away. I was in line and watched this and I was feeling sorry for the lady buying the item. The cashier just opened his eyes big and didn't say anything. I go into this store once maybe twice a week. I'm not a re-seller but I do look for items I need and occasionally find a little treasure for myself. I went to the store about five days ago and saw a wired basket. 8x8 chicken wired basket with handle, lined with burlap and christmas ribbon. There was a bright orange sticker with a price $14.95 but surely ot was donated from a closed business. I left it. Went to Safeway yesterday and decided to drop by Goodwill. The basket is still on the shelf. I decided to take it to an employee to check on the price. He confirmed that $14.95 was indeed the price on an 8x8 dusty chicken wire basket with dusty burlap and bent christmas ribbon. Why so expensive? I was told that since the big guys came in the Grass Valley location now ships out most of donations to other stores towards Sacramento and receive items from different stores too. But $14.95 for a basket that was next to a modern plug-in sewing machine marked for $20? I loved it when this Goodwill opened. Went in every week and came out with stuff and got a deal. Now there is nothing there. Very slim pickings. Whoever from up high went there to make it better only ruined it. Now the go to Goodwill is in Roseville. Unfortunate. read more

I was drastically looking for a new leaf blower when a kind, handsome young man named Logan led me right to the leaf blower isle. He was very polite, handsome, and ready to satisfy all of my Goodwill needs! Definitely my favorite manager in the Grass Valley location, and the handsomest! He helped carry my leaf blower to the front for me to be checked out. A very handsome, well-raised young individual, I think he is single as well! Did I mention he was handsome? I will never come back here. The lady at the counter was rude. They require all customers to wear a mask yet don't hand them out. Not everyone has a mask it there back pocket. If your going to require customers to wear a mask at least have some on hand to offer the people that don't have one. The city gives PPE to local businesses for this reason ! read more

I went into the new Good Will Store up here in Grass Valley, California. I was not real pleased at what I saw. Stuff were just thrown in the shelves not even straightened really messy shelves. They really need to work on straightening and organizing there products on the shelves better. I won't be back to overwhelming looking at the thrown items. How can you find anything on the shelves with all the stuff everywhere. Someone. needs to go in there and talk to the staff that works there on how to straighten the items on the shelves do it is easier to look at the items better they need help majorly. read more
