On previous occasions, I've been to this Wegman's to pick up food from the hot bar. Perfect spot to grab a platter of food for a party or event - the ribs and wings I got were hot, tasty, and very popular at the party.

The moment we walked in, Mom stopped at the very first display like she had been hired to inspect it. That's when I realized she set me up. I picked the wrong cart, and she knew it. The store itself was impressive -- bright, clean, and packed with every food item known to mankind. Honestly, it was a little too packed. Every aisle felt like it was competing for "Most Stuff in One Space." But everything looked fresh: Meat Seafood Produce All looked like they were posing for a magazine. The Bakery: The Trap We Walked Into The bakery was the star of the store -- managed by a Black woman who was professional, friendly, and on point. She stopped what she was doing to check on us, and that's when the trouble began. The bakery was loaded with: Cakes Cupcakes Cookies Desserts that looked illegal And they were running a sale. A dangerous, wallet‑threatening sale. Mom and I stood there for what felt like hours, mouths watering, debating desserts like we were choosing stocks. We bought way too many. I blame the sale. And the frosting. And the smell. And the display. Basically everything. The Full Store Tour (Thanks to Mom) Mom and her walker inspected every single section of the store. Every. Single. One.I'm convinced she saw things the employees didn't know existed. By the time we reached checkout, my carry cart was overflowing like I had robbed the place. Another Black woman walked us to her register -- also professional, also engaging, also packing our bags like she was building a sculpture. She explained the discounts we received, which made the total hurt a little less. We walked out with two full bags, my hands full, and my "one item" dream shattered.
