One of the main reasons I liked this location was for their self-checkout option. That's no longer available! With that being said they should have more cashiers. Aldi has a great business model, including store brands and reasonable prices. This location's staff is generally helpful. But this location needs to move customers through checkout more quickly and more fairly. The previous self-checkout stations helped speed and fairness, with a single point of entry, but they've been removed due to theft. (Theft might have been managed by having a self-check staff member like other stores.)Now that we're back to staffed checkouts, this location needs to arrange things more fairly. This location always has people loitering around asking people for stuff. They are always crowding the entrance and they don't do anything about it. They are always asking for your cart to get the change. The lady always has her 5 kids outside asking people to buy them something. It's truly uncomfortable shopping at this location. You always get asked for something entering when you just want to shop in peace. Please do something about this issue. read more

Truth be told, I prefer to go to an ALDI than most other grocery stores. I like that it is all just one brand and you don't have the pressure to choose between a well known named product or the off brand. It's all off brand here (for the most part). This location was setup just like all the others. You know, you get funneled in and right down the aisle that has a mix of snacks. Of course you want to pick some of them up. I took my time going through the store and having to really look for items that I wanted. Some items were picked over and some items weren't where you would expect them to be. After some time in the store we headed to the front and made our way through the checkout area. I appreciated the fact that they had the self checkouts. Even though there were only a few of these registers it somehow made it go much quicker at the registers. Honestly, it was kind of great, you could pack your bag as you scanned if you wanted. It was pretty great and easy while we were coming to the end of our day. read more

We love Aldi. The stores have mostly the same brands. Depending on the location, you may see items for that area. Northern Virginia will have inventory not stocked at SW DC. The Beltsville location is near IKEA. The aisles are wider than other Aldi's. At Hyattsville, if someone has a giant pallot of items, you can't move your cart through. At this store, there is room to shop while employees load the shelves. The employees were helpful even when busy stocking items. The produce area was decent. The Halloween items were creative. You could overdose on pumpkin flavored items here. There were four open registers. Customers were the focus of the store. I wish this location was closer. read more

This location tends to be better stocked than the one closer to my house. And since I make frequent LAX runs, I just end up stopping here on the way back! If you're not familar with ALDI, you have to use a quarter to get a cart (which you get back later), but I've always been too lazy to go through that process LOL. What I usually do is just grab an empty box or yes my reusable grocery bag to carry things around. I don't hoard, thankfully. There's a very specific healthy pita bread I like to get, and it's always available for me! I also enjoy their occasional odd flavors of hummus -- always down to try the crazy ones no one else will! And here's the kicker -- SELF-CHECKOUT. I don't know exactly when it happened, but this has given them the ultimate comeup. Their lines could get pretty long and cumbersome. Between that, the prices of my essentials and the organized layout, all good for me! A regular shopper, for sure. read more

Hey everyone once again I just had to stop in one of my favorite grocery stores. I purchased some of the Stonemill everything bagel seasoning. I purchased the Asiago cheese, Himalayas pink salt & jalapeño. So I had to go home and fix something so that I can try one of the seasoning & of course the Asiago cheese seasoning is my favorite it's a must purchase. Then I purchased some Antibacterial scented wipes & these wipe i would say is a highly recommended purchased. Because they left my hands soft they don't have a weird smell it don't leave my hands sticky. I purchased the cherry blossom & Hawaiian coconut both scents smell just like what it is. Now these two are my favorite scents ihat I try to get my body spray or lotions in these scents. But If you don't like these scent they do have two other scents. The best part was twenty wipes in a box was only forty nine cents so I definitely will return in purchase more. They're individually wrapped so they can easily be place in a book bag, lunch bag, purses, or anywhere else maybe needed. Also I been purchasing these v8 sparkling beverages for a while now. They are so refreshing and delicious they're made from black & green tea. One source of vegetable so that a big deal for me any way I can get more vegetables in daily it's a winner. Did you know that Aldi is Trader Joe's old maid sister? I wish he'd gotten to this site first. The emphasis is on rock bottom grocery prices, fitting into the niche between Dollar Tree and Food Lion. Minimal fresh meat and produce, almost entirely house brands on non-perishables. Don't expect to find anything that is even slightly out of the mainstream. Name brands are typically liquidations, be sure to check the expire date. House brands often match big brands in quality - I'm happy with the English muffins and woven wheat crackers ("Triscuits"). Excellent values on staples. Keep an eye out for their Deutche Kuche house brand of German foods. I've bought food with Marks and these are on point Must know: Bring a quarter, which you will need as a deposit to unlock a shopping cart. No quarter, no cart for you! At night, bring a flashlight as there is no street light on the cart line and you will need it to find the slot for the quarter. Bring bags. Some cardboard boxes may be available, but if you can't find one they will sell you bags, twice as much as MoCo bag tax. Credit cards are now accepted! read more

Came to this location on Mother's Day...not sure if it was the fact that it was a Sunday or the fact that it was Mother's day, but I was slightly underwhelmed with the store, it's selection, the cleanliness, etc. Everything was kind of out of place, there were boxes in the aisle, the produce if available was less than desirable. It isn't what I am accustomed to in an Aldi. On a positive note, I was able to find some great finds, and the staff kept the line moving quickly and was quite pleasant. Aldi is A-OK in my opinion. You get the basics, but then there are some things you will find that will surprise you. For instant, marzipan stollen for $2.99. My German-blooded pal loves this stuff. Specialty cheeses for cheap. However, if you see something you like, buy a lot of it as it may be a limited item and never return. I did not see one advertised item, and the herb plants for $1.99 were sickly looking. However, milk, cheese and eggs are much cheaper than the big chain stores. Advice: 1) Do bring your own bags or pay the ten cent per bag fee. You can always use the bags to recycle your paper products at home. 2) Do bring a quarter for the carts. I think it is great that they "rent" you a cart, as you get your quarter back when you return it to the line of carts. No errant carts to be found in the parking lot rolling towards your car. 3) Try a no brand name cracker. It won't kill you. read more

Busy store and very hard working people. They have an extensive bread section but I'm leaving carbs alone until after my cruise. I went specifically for vegetables because I heard through the grapevine that they had a great selection of produce. LO and behold they did and I got tomatoes, grapes, lettuce, and a whole bunch of stuff I hope I eat! I also got a bunch of high protein power bars that I can take on my trip next week. I love the prices of Aldi's and now they are getting better with their selection of fruits, vegetables and meats! I was able to come here and spend less than $100.00 dollars for groceries for the month! And come home and fill the fridge, freezer and cabinets!! I can't do that at Giant, Safeway or Shoppers without spending $200 easily if not more! Thank God it's just me for the most part and occasionally my boyfriend and we are able to keep food in the house! I'm hooked on Aldi's!! Truly, this is a bargain hunters paradise. While, it may not have the largest variety, you have to give it 5 stars because it is the best at what it does. Aldi provides a great deal and lots of bang for your buck. Prices are probably even better than Costco and it makes a lot more sense to buy food her if you are shopping for 2-4 people. Last week, I brought groceries for the week. Compare this to your grocery bill... 2 loafs of bread @ $0.83 a piece, 2 XL pizzas I think $5 a piece, pre-med salad mix? $0.89 cents each (probably makes enough side salads for 4 people, full salads for 2) Jar of peanut butter? $2.89 box of cereal? $1.39 for 17oz box milk? $2.99 for a gallon There were a few more items that I bought and I can't remember the exact prices, but my total bill came out to under $40 and we have enough food for 2 people for probably 1-2 weeks. I mean, if you wanted to, you could live off of Aldi as a single person for $15-20 a week and probably have decent variety in your meals. It may not be the ideal nutritionist recommend diet, but it would probably be much better than what most Americans eat. I would really recommend it for a poor graduate student (I know there are quite a few down the street at Maryland), or anyone who just wants to spend their money on other things. read more

Oh my goodness, who are all these people belly-aching about Aldi's?? To the people complaining about the quarter deposit for the carts: um, yea, that's how they offer such cheap prices, because they're not paying someone to chase down carts all the damn time. And as for the bag fee, that's par for the course everywhere in PG County, Montgomery County, and DC. If you'd rather just pay a higher price for groceries, then Aldi's is probably not the right place for you. I hate grocery shopping in general, but Aldi's is great. It's a small-ish store because they don't carry eighteen brands of ketchup, they just have the house brand, which is again good for you and your pocketbook because it's both tasty and cheap. Look, forget the ketchup, Aldi has shockingly good sweets (premium chocolates, etc). Kind of like Costco, there are certain products they stock all the time, and then random things that come and go. Similarly, they're not spending money making the store look "cute," so don't come here thinking it will be nice like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. The only reason I don't come here more often is I can get 95% of what I need here, but not everything, and I hate making multiple trips. This Aldi location had stepped up its game and raised the bar for grocery stores in the area. It was recently renovated and if not for the signage you would not even know you were in Aldo's. More brand names than any other Aldi location that I have visited. Gluten-free options. Fresh veggies including plantain and avocados! I get me Kefir from this location to make my family healthy smoothies. I get wild caught salmon. I get gelato and fruit bars! The customer service is much better than Safeway or Giant. I have a love-hate relationship with Aldi. Though this Aldi is one of the better in the area (staff, selection and availability of items, and cleanliness), it still has the long lines and the frustrating layout of aisles. Costco is across the street so, I like to stop here when I'm in the area to get a few low priced organic produce items and, also, items I don't care to buy name-brand. The items are far cheaper than the average grocery store and comparable quality, but everything is not good here, so buy cautiously. Also, as with any store, check the expiration dates. A friend of mine says she brought home food and the expiration date had already passed. If you have patience and in the area, I recommend giving it a try. read more

We were told this grocery store was cheaper, what I didn't realize is they meant cheaper in a bad way. Not only do you have to 'rent' the shopping carts, but they also charge you 10 cents per bag and the store itself doesn't have crap in it. The commissary at the Dahlgren Naval Base is larger than this place and up until now I thought that was the smallest grocery store I had ever been in. There is also a hippy stink to the place and the self righteous aura of disdain for anyone just looking for cheaper groceries is apparent. My recommendation? Go down Baltimore Avenue for a few miles and shop at the Shopper's Warehouse. They don't charge you for bags and they don't rent you carts and believe it or not they're cheaper since they're in PG county. read more

I personally like ALDI's. It's the bargain version of their owner, Trader Joe's. I have seen all types of people from all backgrounds shop here and it has a nice neighborhood vibe. There aren't a lot of grocery options in CP, so I'll take what I can get. If I could, I would rate it 3.5 stars. If you shop mostly brand-name items, you will be disappointed here. There aren't a lot of international, specialty, or personal/home items either. Like Trader Joe's, they have a couple choices of everything (if any) and that's it. Sure, ALDI doesn't have everything you will need, but there are lots of surprises, too. Ibuprofen and vitamin gummies for $2. Bakery style bread, specialty cheeses, frozen items, and dairy that would cost you double at Shoppers. Even though the produce aisle is limited, the food isn't decaying like some of the big-box grocers. I don't shop here every week, but its a great place to get cheap everyday items you will always need. Although a lot of people might think "renting" a shopping cart for a quarter is weird, it keeps the overall costs down and protects your property. ALDI doesn't have to pay employees to herd carts in the parking lot and you don't have to worry about rogue carts damaging your car. Plus you get the quarter back when you return the cart. read more

Just went for the first time tonight. New store just opened near me. Prices were great, $1.49 for a gallon if milk! The produce was also nice. Mostly generic items, but excellent prices on them. One star for the service I received here is an overstatement! Gena is the rudest person I have ever met! I drove my mom to get TP and picked up 2 packs for myself. She screamed at us loud and rude to social distance even after I informed her that she was my mom. Then when I placed my TP on the convarebelt it kept going while she was ringing up the customer in front of me. I informed her that one of the packs she had was mine(she should of known because she already had rung up 2 for him and that's the TP limit in there) she screamed "well you have 5 packs between the 2 of you!" I said , "I don't even know him and I just wanna make sure you don't sell him my TP" she laughed and yelled "well you shouldn't of had it on the belt! Only one person on the belt at a time!" Then when I get up there I told her I was paying for my moms and she was hesitant to ring me up even tho my mom was present with me. So after that I said we don't live together do you wanna see ID? She was just so snide and rude. I asked her if she used to be police and she told me that "you need to chill out" I said "no you need to calm down , we are all in the same boat" in any event my mom had went to the bathroom and I went to the car. My mom said on the way out of the store the cashier said "your daughter is just so nice!" The lady was rude and I Bet if you go shop in the next 60 days with this covid-19 going on , you will really get to see just ok how nasty and rude she is to customers. Great selection at half the price of a regular grocery store. I found my favorite tea here because they carry off brand overstock items and I haven't been able to find it again anywhere else. That's the one downside to how aldis is run - you are never guaranteed to find the same thing twice. read more

There are a lot of things I like about the Aldi store in Beltsville. The prices are amazing and their store brands are (with few exceptions) as good as or better than their name brand counterparts. In my experience the staff are friendly and efficient 90% of the time. It's close to home (closest, in fact) and right next to my TD Bank branch. There are access points both on St. Mary's and US Route 1, the latter with a traffic light so I can safely turn left on Route 1 without having to wait forever and have to floor the accelerator to get back in traffic. So yeah, many good things. I don't even mind the 25 cent cart rental or the penalty for forgetting to bring reusable bags; lower costs, save the environment and such. (And really, if you're in a hurry you can bite the bullet, buy more bags and leave the cart for someone who will cheerfully return the cart for you to make $0.25. You will probably still come out ahead over shopping at the full-price chains.) If it were not for the negatives I would shop there for almost all my regular needs. So, what are the negatives? First and foremost is the parking lot. This Aldi location has waaaay too few parking spots for the amount of business they do, the lanes are narrow and the parking spaces are narrow as well. I don't know whether to blame Aldi or whatever developer bribed the zoning board for a permit for such a small lot. Whatever the reason I sometimes drive up and cannot find a spot so I end up going elsewhere. Secondly, the selection at this Aldi isn't that great. I'll chalk this up to being a small store of a bargain chain, but it's annoying at times when you can't find all the ingredients you need for a recipe. Also, for some items the availability is intermittent; one week they'll have something I love to buy there and other weeks it's just gone. It's disappointing to make the trip and come up empty-handed. Third -- and I have confirmed this with friends and family -- produce items bought at this Aldi do not seem to last as long as they do when purchased elsewhere. Bagged lettuce (I'm busy; don't judge me) for instance starts to turn brown in a couple of days. I've had similar experiences with other vegetables. Maybe they buy older produce? Maybe it's that they don't keep things as cold and/or mist them on displays like the bigger chains? I don't know, but I've learned not to buy veggies there unless I will use them within the next 24-48 hours, tops. Last but not least (and I realize this is part of their model to offer low prices) the place is constantly an anthill. Lines often grow long, shelf stocking staff all but push you out of the way, empty/disorganized displays abound and the aisles are really narrow. And, when you get to the checkout the cashiers hurry you so [much] it makes you feel like you're in the way. So, in summation, if you like great prices and can shop here during slow times this is the place to go. Don't forget to bring your bags or a quarter for the cart, and don't expect to find everything you need there every time. Other than the irritations this is a well-run store. read more

Had never been to an Aldi's so visited this store a few weeks ago. I went during the week around 1:30 pm. The first thing I noticed was there were only 2 or 3 handicap parking spaces. So I drove around the tight small lot for a while until I found a space. I realized after I parked that could barely open the door to get out so had to pull out and look for another one. Found a spot, took my bags and went to get a cart. You need a quarter to unlock one! I didn't have change, so took my bags in and filled them with as much as I could carry. Great prices, good selection and fun stuff. I'm on WW so I scan a lot of foods to see if they're point worthy. Lots of those. The manager was helpful and friendly. Folks giving her hugs and conversing as if they were family. I did stumble around in trying to get my groceries into my bags since I had to share the cashier's cart with someone else! My second visit was less cumbersome. read more

This grocery store is simple and straight to the point. I decided to go here to save money during my off week and I was pleasantly surprised to spend under $50 for all of my key items. I wouldn't say this is my go to store, but I would definitely go back... My only complaint was that the store was missing key items and the store itself was disorganized and messy. read more

I always enjoy checking out new products at Aldi's. This location is newly renovated with an expanded meat and frozen foods section. They have the best Pueblo Lindo Tostadas I've had anywhere. They're always fresh and extra crunchy. The cheese selection rivals that of Trader Joe's but some of them are limited time/seasonal only, so if you see it and wanna try it, you should buy it...it probably won't be there when you get back. The prices are competitive and downright cheap compared to the other mainstream grocery store. Aldi's serves a segment of the population that may be considered undeserved, however they are bringing fresh produce and quality meats and other products to the residents of the area. Even though it is not my regular go-to grocery store, I'll continue to patronize it for those unique finds I can't get elsewhere. read more

My cousin came to visit and she loves Aldi. I took her and fell in love. I'm not a fan of off brand items but the chocolate covered almonds and egg turned out to be quite good. I absolutely love the vegetable selection and the variety of cheese.... I paid $27.00 for a 1/4 lb of smoked Gouda at the Union Market and at aldi I got it for $2.99. I'll be back for sure. I still can't figure out how to get .25 back out from the cart so I always just see someone leaving and hand them the quarter. read more

PRICES PRICES PRICES. (If only real estate were that easy.) Each week they offer 6-7 fruits / veggies for THE lowest prices anywhere. I shop at many grocery stores. These prices are the best. Anything in the store is good (except their creamy salad dressing. Maybe it soured on the shelf or wasn't to my taste buds?) It's a small store with 5-6 aisles total. There are no electric carts if you are in need. They have a little bit of everything... The "cheerios" are $1.20! I can't tell the diff. Their chocolate is imported from Germany as are many other gourmet type foods. Buy: Eggs, milk, cheese, frozen foods, plastic bags, tissue, spices, sugar, snacks, snacks, snacks = again, the prices are insanely LOW! Go once, you'll be hooked. TIPS: You need a Quarter coin to get a cart. They rely on you bringing back your own cart to save money on hiring someone to run around the lot for YOU! Ha! Add this walk to your fit bit total! Also BYOB. (Bring Your Own Bags). You can buy the Aldi's bags for a dime. That's double what others charge but the bags will last 10 times as long as they are VERY sturdy and HUGE! You pack your own bags from your cart after check out. There is plenty of counter space to do that. Shorter wait times! Again, you save money with no baggers to pay. read more
