I love this little farm because it's near my house but there are a couple of things that I don't like. Staff are not very friendly. You can come here every week and they will never know you. They used to have their own eggs but they don't anymore. They used to have really good baked goods and now it's hit or miss if there are any when you come. Things tend to be on the pricey edge. It could be so much better than what it really is. So much potential. read more

Heyser Farms is on New Hampshire a little off the road. The building is not fancy, made of wood and unairconditioned. The products, especially the seasonal fruit, are fresh and flavorful. This spring we were pleasantly pleased to find a table of perennial, summer blooming plants. We had trouble just picking out a dozen there were so many beautiful choices. Twice a week they have bread delivered and the sour dough is the best I've ever had. It does tend to sell out quickly though. There is freezer with meats. My husband always picks up chicken Chesapeake sausage when available. There is an ice cream case and a refrigerator case with yoghurt and other dairy products. My neighbor mentioned she was looking for raw milk to make cheese and we think they carry it along with fresh eggs. We always go to pick up bread and sausage and end up with two grocery bags full of irresistible items. read more

We wait all year to get our peaches here. I no longer buy them at the grocery store - these peaches are amazing!

AMAZING apples! They have such a good selection of produce. The dozen eggs are less than $5. The tomatoes are well priced and so red. It's so cool to see the apples growing there amid all the hustle and bustle of the area. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I visited the farm's store with my toddler and an entire shelf of milk in glass bottles shattered all over me narrowly missing my child. While the staff cleaned up the mess (and a customer graciously helped move my stroller out of the way), the staff expressed no concern for our wellbeing and merely handed me a roll of paper towels. When I advised Mike Heyser of this, his response was that his staff handled the situation as he would have expected. An apology would have sufficed, but that was too much to ask for. Majorly disappointed and will never return. read more

In my opinion, this is the best farm stand in the area, and I'm so lucky it is 5 minutes from my house. They always have fresh, seasonal produce that cannot be beat, including interesting varieties of apples that you can't find at a typical grocery store such as Arkansas black apples. During peach season, they always have a wide range of different peaches and all of the ones I have tried were great. You can get a large basket of apples/peaches/pears/potatoes or you can get an amount of your choosing in bags. Don't forget to get cider during the fall! It's freshly pressed and delicious. If you get there early, they have mini-cinnamon sugar donuts. I grabbed the last bag when I was there a few weeks ago around 11, but if you get there before 10, they should have ample bags. My sister has always gone here and today I was craving peaches and finally took the plunge. I'm so sad it took me so long to go!! I love that they have the story of the farm where the produce comes from! Naomi helped us check out and make sure we had everything we needed. They also have a huge variety of jams that I'll have to check out. Apples Cider, in season, is a delicacy. Non-pasteurized. Apples are fresh, wide in variety and the cookies are deeece, especially the White chocolate Macadamia. The cider is worth it alone, anytime during the Fall. read more

I've been going to Heyser farms for 4 years now. Absolutely the very best fresh, made in house apple cider in the east coast. When in season, they sell ground corn which can be used for Polenta. I find their ground corn quality to be among the best I can find anywhere. I buy enough to last for most of the year, as alternative supermarket quality is much lower quality. This is a unwell-kempt place with tired staff and honestly bad-tasting apples. There is no apple-picking here and you wouldn't want to walk their grounds; the only thing to see is a VW Bug with someone's one idea of flowers. I arrived at 9am to buy corn on the cob. I was told that they would bring some out from the cooler but it was from two days before. If I wanted, I could wait another hour and they might get a new delivery. I couldn't wait that long,so I bought a dozen of what they had. Of course, over the two days it had hardened and lost all of it's sweetness. I should have known better. But then again, they shouldn't have sold me corn that was so old. read more

This is a great place to get fresh groceries. They have a nice wine tasting place in the back and also some picnic tables under a big tree where u can spend some time eating with friends. They are famous for their apples, so you gotta try some apple cider, apple pie, apple sauce and of course just plain apples! Great place to get fresh eggs too as they have live chickens on site. They even display a chicken coop right in the front of the store. read more

Stopped here to visit Great Shoals Winery and was pleasantly surprised to find a market as well! The market has some of my favorite trickling springs products from home that I've never seen outside of PA. They have everything from ice cream to prime cuts of meat. Everything looks fresh and the staff is friendly. I cannot wait to come back and see what seasonal stuff they'll have. Rented a bonfire pit on a Friday night and it was the worst experience ever - I WILL NEVER VISIT AGAIN! I hate to say it but I honestly believe this is the most racist establishment around. They were unhelpful, condescending, and had horrible customer service. I thought this would be a great opportunity to bond with friends and have something new to do on a Friday night. Over email they were very helpful and professional so I expected everything to go smoothly. If you aren't a white patron from the area expect a horrible time. I really liked this place, but I can't give it more than four starts. On the positive note, this is a great place for any group unless you are trying to pick the actual apples off of the trees........... you are not allowed!!! I've never been to an orchard that prohibited that. I actually think it makes sense, because for such a small farm where ever apple counts, it makes sense not to have people likely wasting and discarding so many though picking. It is an outstanding place for a picnic. The bar and picnic tables are ideal for a gorgeous day. Their many types of alcoholic cider are pretty reasonable ($15~) for a 750ml bottle. The negative.... we bought a gallon of cider that got onto the shelf while we were at the farm (they had run out and were waiting for delivery). So, it couldn't be more fresh, or so we thought... we actually noticed it has a use by date of the day we were there! That's kind of crazy. It tasted a little funky a week later, which is when we noticed the date. So, I don't know the situation, but some clarity over that seems expected. I would return. read more

Best cider in the state! Possibly the region! Mom is pretty traditional with holiday fare and it always includes cider from here. If you are buying your cider from the grocery store, you aren't getting the authentic stuff. Best quality and local. Win win situation. read more

When we arrived there were no donuts and they told us they were sold out. A complete waste of time and the people working there did not seem to care about the customers. Apples all have write-ups telling you some of the history, how they taste, etc.. People are nice, friendly, and always helpful! Pleasant surprise to find that pies are half price on Monday! Came to the market on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago and we enjoyed it. The market was pretty sparse, but we found some yummy dark chocolate milk, some bread (I think banana nut?) that was amazing, and tasty mini donuts to go in a bag. The pies looked spot on, but we didn't buy one, unfortunately. We were excited to stumble upon Great Shoals Winery and we did a wine tasting with some wine and cheese, which was a nice relaxing note to the day. I'd be back to check out their market again, and definitely for apple/cider season! read more

I love how they have the names and description of all the varieties of apples and peaches. This is a great find! Local honey made at Heyser's, local produce (when in season), fresh pie, unpasteurized fresh apple cider (soooo good), and the most amazing freshly made cinnamon and sugar donuts! The donuts need their own time here...they are made fresh based on your order (Th, F, and Sat). They were crisp on the outside, soft and flaky on the inside, and not shy on the cinnamon and sugar. I also hear the ice cream they carry is good, but have not tried it yet. read more

I love to shop local and support small businesses, SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FARMER. This is one of my favorites especially in the summer and fall. The farm started in the 1940's and was once a feed and seed store for local farmers. As government began to grow the farm shrunk as farms were sold off to satisfy the demand for housing. They still grow a lot of the produce on the farm including the Spencerville Red apple. This place is a gem in the community. You will find local produce, baked goods, eggs and meats. Farm fresh eggs available not even 10 miles from my home...sold! I tried this place in the winter time so I can't speak to the grounds outdoors but the indoor market had just what I was looking for--eggs straight from the hen. They had an array of fresh produce: tomatoes, asparagus, peppers, onions, squash, strawberries, pears, apples, etc. They even had avocados for $1! I have to say that avocado was the best I've had in a long time. The flavor was so rich--you know not like the testosterone veggies available in grocery stores that only resemble vegetables? The ice cream is amazing. The cider is good too. The eggs come from chickens in the back. The produce is pretty good and being a farm store is seasonal. We get the grassfed milk for the kids and I like the pickled stuff in the back. Some of the stuff is shipped in, which is expected for a suburban farm. It's not the biggest store, but what do you expect? I just like how it's a family farm, except right down the street and most of the stuff is local. I agree with the previous review regarding cider- I'm originally from the Northeast and had a hard time finding quality apple cider down this way until I discovered Heyser. Delicious! I also like that they carry local milk/eggs, and have found in general that their produce is pretty good (esp. the corn). The one thing I've found to be uneven is the fruit- in general it's pretty good, but I bought a basket of smokehouse apples last week as it was one of the few varities in stock, and they are the mealiest apples I've ever tasted. Yuck! Had to throw half the bag out, I just couldn't finish them. read more

It is wonderful to find a place with locally grown fresh fruit this close to the city. I just can't get all the way out to Darnestown any more. The fruit is fresh, tasty and tastes like real fruit instead of the mushy stuff at the grocery store. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will give you information about the products at the drop of a hat. I really like it and have gone back several times. read more
