Tony and I were driving the back roads in Maryland when we came upon this Orchard Farm Fruits & Veggie store....not a stand, a store! Tony took the opportunity to smoke, while I shopped. I purchased a Watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, peaches, squash...I love stopping places like this...it reminds me of my parents

What a lovely surprise to visit Lewis Orchards today. They have beautiful selection of produce to include Asian pears, watermelon, apples, okra, and cherry tomatoes and more. It's a great place for fresh baked pies to include Dutch apple pie and berry and peach. Loved the open and beautiful view in the background of shopping for locally grown and sourced fruits and vegetables. Definitely a place to visit.

A nice local farm located right up Darnestown Road in Dickerson, Lewis offers a nice variety of produce from their farm, with their apples being the main feature during the fall. I was also surprised to find a few things that I didn't expect to find, like some beautifully green broccoli, big bunches of kale, and even some hot habañero peppers! They also have freshly baked pies on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and I'll be treating the folks at work with a lovely peach pie tomorrow morning. (Shhh, don't tell!)

Ya know those juice commercials where someone is in a grocery store and they pick up the juice and see like a like grove of orange trees behind it. Or like, they pick up some grape juice and they get sucked into a vineyard. That was like Lewis Orchards, but you didn't have to pick anything up. As you shopped in their half outdoor/indoor store, you could see the large barn-like doors open to a picturesque orchard teeming with sun, apples, and pure Michigan. They have everything in that little store. Local cheeses, pastas, butters ( from mccutcheons). They make their own apple crisp mixes and they have vegetables there. An insane amount of extremely large pumpkins. Pumpkins where you're like... oh they're .59 cents a pound- oh wait this pumpkin in 90 dollars. I'm talkin' pig ole bumpkins! They have cider, sparking non alcoholic wines, and of course a very wide selection of apples. I asked the lady at the front for a recommendation. She asked me what I wanted to use them for. I just said, a good eating apple. She asked if I liked this more sweet or tart. I said more tart. She told me about an apple called a Stayman that was half sweet and half tart that she thought I'd like. She's right! I just had one, it was delicious. How do you get to this place. Just keep going out on Darnestown rd. And when you think... oh this is far enough... keep on going. You'll see it eventually. They do Pumpkin Chunkin' on the weekends. What is that? Of course it's when they shoot a giant pumpkin out of a cannon. Dare I say it? Fun for the whole family!

Great spot. Fresh vegetables and amazingly varied pumpkins and gourds. The view is nice, as is the drive there from DC. Enjoy

We reserved a private space with a private tasting, which made the day feel extra special and perfect for a large group. For many of our guests, it was their first time visiting this location, and everyone had such a great time. One of the co-founders, Greg, personally led our tasting and was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, welcoming, and checked on us throughout the afternoon to make sure everything was going smoothly. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. I also appreciated that some friends who don't drink were still able to enjoy themselves thanks to the non-alcoholic options. The property itself is beautiful with scenic views, plenty of space to relax, and such a peaceful atmosphere. We had amazing weather the day we visited, which made it even more memorable. If you are looking for a great place for a birthday, celebration, group outing, or just a relaxing day with friends, I highly recommend! We will definitely be back.

There was PLENTY of seating still - lots of large and small tables scattered throughout the property. They also have seating inside the winery at a small bar. The wine itself was really nice; we had several bottles of the rose at the table. It was light, crisp, and easy to sip in the nice weather. I was impressed that they also had 2 non alcoholic wines; the non drinkers in our group were happy to have some options made just for them (which were delicious also). There is a third party pizza business that had food offerings; we had many different types of their pizza which were all good. Very smart to have a food option for folks to enjoy while we sip our wine. Overall, the property is wonderfully maintained and the wines meet all expectations. I'd recommend giving this spot a try if you're looking for a nice winery north of the beltway!

My Mom had their green beans as a side and I had a few - they were crispy and very good. Too many places over cook things. Waitress behind the bar was great. Nice 'neighborhoody' casual atmosphere. Any Marylander of the Boomer and GenX generation knows about O'Donnell's RUM BUNS. I used to come here with family back in its heyday and these were served table side before our meal. How crazy is that, a nice lil somewhat sinful dessert BEFORE some MD crab?! Those were the days! The rum buns are more nostalgia more than anything, I wouldn't say they'll blow your socks off, but hey, nostalgia is nostalgia. Well, I'll need to dine in here for a full and complete verdict, but my quick grab and go visit was a tad chaotic. Service for taking orders could improve - you walk in, there's a seafood counter to your left, bakery counter to your right (both were unmanned when I walked in) and in the middle is a deli section with the cash register where I assume they take orders. We stood there for a few good minutes before getting anyone's attention despite the fact a manager asking staff (not customers) if everyone was being helped. Clearly staff did not know who was waiting to check out, take orders or just waiting for their orders to arrive. So it was just weird. No one greeting you as you walk in either, it just also weird because there's no clear line anywhere you stand. Otherwise, rum buns were as I remembered them. Also picked up crab dip and chicken salad from the grab and go section from the back and they were just ok, not bad, not great. So will come again for a future visit hoping to have a much better meal and experience!
