The best around in this area. The taste of the produce is definitely noticeably different from regular supermarket produce. You can really feel and taste the difference. I stopped by more often this year and I definitely like coming here. The only downside is the parking on the busy Saturdays. It can get a bit hectic since they are in the corner and there are two entrances and exits and people coming in and out at the same time. There is no normal pattern and it really shows. Weekdays do not have the pies which I heard was amazing. The one produce I keep coming here for is the white peaches but it feels like I only have like a 3 week window every year to get them. read more

What a lovely surprise to visit Lewis Orchards today. They have beautiful selection of produce to include Asian pears, watermelon, apples, okra, and cherry tomatoes and more. It's a great place for fresh baked pies to include Dutch apple pie and berry and peach. Loved the open and beautiful view in the background of shopping for locally grown and sourced fruits and vegetables. Definitely a place to visit. read more

I love their pies. Apple. Peach. Cherry. Mixed Berry. They are all delicious. Love that they have the no sugar added option, although they are using a sugar substitute. The pies freeze well too! Easy to find what you are looking for (and sadly as we found out yesterday, what you weren't looking for but suddenly had to have, as well)! 2. Love their assortment of homemade-style foods! Unfortunately this statement posted on their website is false information. Their prices are not fair. $8.99 for 1 quart size container of 6 peaches, half of which are either rotten or bruised. Ridiculous. You end up paying $3.00 a peach when you find out that 3 peaches in your container are inedible. When you check the few containers that are available to try and buy a quart of decent peachs, the employees yell at you "no switching";and when you try to explain that some of the peaches in the container are damaged, the employees don't care, they are rude and repeat "no switching". I have finally reached my fill for unacceptable customer service and poor quality. They act like they are doing me a favor by letting me purchase their damaged produce. read more

This place was amazing today. They had top notch COVID 19 precautions. On entry your cart is sanitized, and you are given plastic food gloves. "If you touch it, you buy it. " There was plenty of fresh fruit and and vegetables. We purchased okra, a couple of varieties of peppers, collard greens, and two freshly baked pies. There were at least three people buying pies so I hope that's a good sign. read more

The pies here are AMAZING. My favorite is the sugar free peach pie, but all the flavors we have tried have been delicious. Both regular and sugar free. Things we get religiously are yellow peaches, zucchini, blackberries and sweet corn. So happy to have them nearby. Wish they were open all year round. read more

Disappointed, and frankly offended. You know we drove 40 minutes to come here. The place was empty of product, no pies? Very few items unusually. Ok no big deal. Is what it is. Until: we find a nice piece of cabbage. Take it to the register so our trip is not a complete waste for patronizing a local farm business. Incidentally my wife is a farmers daughter. Sorry, No apple pay. Ok fine, we have a card. Btw the card reader had apple pay. They just refuse to use it. Oh can I see your ID for the card? Mildly irritated, this isn't 1999 and no one checks ID because you can forge a signature on a card. It's a useless method of verification. So then after thats sorted, $2.50 for head of cabbage. "Oh, we have a minimum charge for credit card use" delivered with a nasty attitude by the girl checking us out. I remember stopping by this place and having to put gloves on during cvid and you couldn't touch anything and just all these whacky rules. The folks running this place need a severe reality check. I'll be sure to write the county about getting a bus stop put here so derelicts with stolen credit cards and fake ID's can stop in daily. Maybe they will be forced to take state EBT for underserved communities. Everyone deserves the right to fresh wholesome farm produce. Run your business how you want. I won't be back.... read more

A nice local farm located right up Darnestown Road in Dickerson, Lewis offers a nice variety of produce from their farm, with their apples being the main feature during the fall. I was also surprised to find a few things that I didn't expect to find, like some beautifully green broccoli, big bunches of kale, and even some hot habañero peppers! They also have freshly baked pies on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and I'll be treating the folks at work with a lovely peach pie tomorrow morning. (Shhh, don't tell!) read more

Ya know those juice commercials where someone is in a grocery store and they pick up the juice and see like a like grove of orange trees behind it. Or like, they pick up some grape juice and they get sucked into a vineyard. That was like Lewis Orchards, but you didn't have to pick anything up. As you shopped in their half outdoor/indoor store, you could see the large barn-like doors open to a picturesque orchard teeming with sun, apples, and pure Michigan. They have everything in that little store. Local cheeses, pastas, butters ( from mccutcheons). They make their own apple crisp mixes and they have vegetables there. An insane amount of extremely large pumpkins. Pumpkins where you're like... oh they're .59 cents a pound- oh wait this pumpkin in 90 dollars. I'm talkin' pig ole bumpkins! They have cider, sparking non alcoholic wines, and of course a very wide selection of apples. I asked the lady at the front for a recommendation. She asked me what I wanted to use them for. I just said, a good eating apple. She asked if I liked this more sweet or tart. I said more tart. She told me about an apple called a Stayman that was half sweet and half tart that she thought I'd like. She's right! I just had one, it was delicious. How do you get to this place. Just keep going out on Darnestown rd. And when you think... oh this is far enough... keep on going. You'll see it eventually. They do Pumpkin Chunkin' on the weekends. What is that? Arrived at 5:20 because they close at 6pm and to my surprise found all the doors locked even though everyone was still inside. Everyone did a fantastic job ignoring us. When I asked if I could just grab apple cider I was rudely told no go away. Please support other small businesses in the area and leave this one alone because they clearly don't care about it customer service or quality. read more

Great produce, great virus protocols. Social distancing markings for the entry line. Check-in attendant reviewing protocols and dispensing food service. Wipe down of every returned cart. One way line around the perimeter with gloved clerks grabbing that particular box of peaches you point at. They grow their own, so unless it's marked with a source, it came from right there. We went on a Tuesday to just locate the Orchard for a first run. The Orchard is Friendly to Challenged Seniors. The Market was neat and clean. There was an attendant with plastic gloves to use in the market at the entrance. There were many items of fresh, canned and preserved on display. The fresh produce was displayed in a pleasant manner. I giving them 2 stars because a third of the 3 quarters bushel of peaches were rotten in 2 days. I had to rush to can the remaining before they spoiled. I will not go back there again for peaches. In addition, the staff did not know anything about the peaches or what was going to be available in the upcoming weeks. Poor customer service. If you need peaches, go to Butlers were they know their peaches. Or better yet, you can go up to Catoctin Mountain Orchard. This place is great! Wish I lived closer so I could frequent more often. I teetered on giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to the price of their products, they're on the higher side, but I went with 5 stars because they really do have great quality produce- and I feel it's worth the slightly higher cost. Regrettably, I recently cheated on them and got a bushel of apple seconds from another produce stand out in Boonsboro, and the difference was night and day. The other place I went to couldn't tell me what type of apples they were giving me, when I went to use the apples I lost about 50% to rot, and they were super beat up - is there such a thing as thirds? if so, they would have made the grade. Every time I purchase from Lewis I get respectable quality and I know what I'm getting. That makes me happy. read more

After the rains of Hannah, we decided to get out and enjoy the gorgeousness that greeted us Sunday morning. That meant driving out into the country, and visiting Lewis Orchard and Farm. 'Off the beaten path' isn't just a phrase when it comes to getting to this place, but the drive alone - in the right weather - is definitely worth it. The locally-grown produce is always fresh. Corn, beans, peppers of all sorts and colors, tomatoes in several varieties, squash - the list of veggies goes on and on. The fruit is firm and equally as colorful. They only had three varieties of apples this time 'round, but I'm not complaining as they had a new one that I'd never had before, plus AGAIN everything was so fresh (and so clean! - sorry...couldn't help myself). Another thing I like about Lewis' is that they carry a large number of Maryland's own McCutcheon's products. From barbecue sauces to peach salsa to the ever-popular apple butter - if you grew up in Maryland, you've got a sweet spot for that white McCutcheon's label. Makes me think of Fall weather every time I see it..! One final positive note: they're dog-friendly! Nothing better than ending your visit with a romp through the cutting field with Fido by your side! So the next time you're in the mood for some lovely back roads drivin', and you get a hankering for some pickled cucumber and tomato salad, then head over Lewis'! If I can give negative or even zero stars, I would. Produces seemed fresh, whatevers, but the staffs are EXTREMELY RUDE. I have an emotional support animal for personal reasons I obviously do not want to discuss with the whole world and for that, carry ID badge with me at all times. As I was entered, one of the staff at the counter said "No animals are allowed" and I explained that she's a service animal and showed her the badge. Everything was fine until this point. While I was shopping away, a fat woman came up to me and said, "ma'am, if she's TRULY a service dog, you NEED to keep her on a tight leash" and walked away, rolling her eyes. What the hell? What just happened? We were not causing ANY disruption to her business whatsoever and have come to shop! I DO NOT need to explain to ANYONE WHY I have a service dog and also, as a business owner (if she is), SHE DOES NOT HAVE RIGHTS TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND HOW TO HANDLE MY SERVICE DOG. If she's an employee, she needs to be trained on customer service. They obviously do not value their customers and I would much rather give my business to other orchards with better service. Favorite stop for pumpkins, apples, vegetables, and other goodies! I'm a regular at Lewis Orchards and always leave with bags full of goodies to take home. After visiting a lot of other Maryland farms, Lewis has the best selection of pumpkins (size, color, type) and apples than almost all the other farms. There is a very broad selection of veggies too - beans, peppers, onions, potatoes, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, squash. In contrast with some of the other farms, Lewis does not have fresh baked goods. They do have dairy products from a local distributor and plenty of preserves, jams, and ingredients for pies and muffins. The plentiful parking and wide open floor plan make this easy to navigate. The lines are sometimes long but move quickly. Support local businesses and local farms with a stop at Lewis Orchards for fresh, yummy goodies to enjoy all week! read more

I love buying local when ever I can and Lewis orchard is the place to do it. This weekend we picked up fall gourds for decorating, a great basket of Sun Crisp apples, local onions, a wedge of cheese, peaches and a Birch Beer. They also have mums and pansies along with sauces, jams, jelly's and country crafts. They also have a Pumpkin Chucker, if you want a good laugh go up in the fall and try the chucker. This is the best orchard around! Almost all the produce comes from their farm. The corn and peaches are to die for!! Very high quality fruits and vegetables. We live a couple miles from Lewis and we are here all. the. time. I get milk, cheese, eggs here... All local! Their produce selection is always great and I love their cobbler and crisp pre mixes. I've been blowing people away with my "baking ability." Their crops have been especially incredible this year and its a no brainer: buying local has been cheaper than Harris Teeter and you're supporting a great operation buy receiving a quality product. My favorite orchard in Maryland! Seriously this place should be on a visit MD commercial. I don't live nearby whatsoever but every year I make a special effort to visit in the fall for the awesome selection of apples. The staff is great and if you're around for the pumpkin cannon that's just an added bonus! While I always visit during the fall I have also visited in the spring and summer months as well. Regardless of the season they have an evolving selection of fresh produce. Awesome pumpkins in October! If you're coming from a distance, I recommend bringing a cooler with you. I mean lets face it, when I make it all the way out here there's a 99.99% chance I'm stopping by at least one other place on my way home. Whenever I've failed to bring a cooler along (usually thinking oh I'm just getting apples) they of course have some sort of dairy item (cheese!) I want but can't get because it has to stay cold. Also before you head out here make sure to check their hours for that day/season before you leave. There's been several times when I've wanted to make the trip but didn't because I'd be cutting it too close to their 5pm close time. read more

Everything in its season, with particular emphasis on apples, peaches, peppers, and very nice corn that we're already missing. This place is kind of in the middle of nowhere (at least to me), but it is SO worth the drive. I decided to go on a whim after I saw someone recommend their sweet corn on social media, and I'm SO glad I did. Their produce is amazing. I got blackberries, a dozen ears of sweet corn, a basil plant, and some peaches, and all were delicious and in my opinion reasonably priced. I also really liked everything they're doing to keep everyone safe during the pandemic: washing down carts, giving disposable gloves to all the customers, requiring masks, having customers follow arrows through the stand, and having certain produce be handed to you by an employee. You also have to buy anything you put in your cart. Overall, a great shopping experience and everything was so yummy! I will definitely be heading back! read more

I rarely ever leave bad reviews- usually because if a problem arises an establishment will take care of the issue. I tried this farm off the recommendation of a few people. And am sad to say I am highly disappointed. While the produce is good and they offer other products, the staff is so terrible. Rude, unwilling to help and even talk about customers in a negative manner within ear shot of other customers. With so many farms to choose from in the area, I am glad to say I won't have to return to get fresh produce. I have to upgrade my rating to 5 stars. Lewis sells a larger selection of homegrown produce than Butler's or Larriland. On the 4th of July I purchased the following fresh and delicious items all grown right here at Lewis in MoCo: green beans, peaches, black raspberries (fantastic! - but season is very short), blueberries, cucumbers. The corn they had was from the Eastern Shore, but soon they should have their own. If you are trying to eat locally and you live in MoCo, you should definitely check out Lewis Orchards! read more

I'm a wedding planner, and one of my recent couples got their wedding pies (it was a pie-instead-of-cake wedding... yum!) through Lewis Orchards. Linda at Lewis Orchards was wonderful through the entire process: So easy to reach, helpful, and communicative! The pies were incredible. They tasted just like summer, and the wedding guests all loved them. The orchard even cut all the vent holes on the pies in the shape of little hearts. So sweet!
