Such a treat. I love coming to Larriland each year to grab fresh fruit. I typically come for peaches but was so upset when I planned to go and decided to check online and the season had ended. It was just open on Monday and then closed by Friday. I was so sad. I still decided to go and buy some from the farm stand and to see if they at least still had some of my favorite products. They did I was happy to grab some up. They have Taharka Bros ice cream and some flavors I had never tried before so I grabbed a couple, don't judge. Not stating if they made it home or not but why would anyone let perfectly good ice cream go to waste on a hot ride home. Come on now, make it make sense lol. If I'm back in the area during harvest time, I'll definitely go back to grab up some fresh produce. read more

I went to Larriland Farm with a few friends this past Saturday afternoon for blackberry and peach picking, which are two of my favorite fruits. I've also never picked either fruit before, so I was very excited. The farm is huge, with many different sites. We stopped by the farm market first to look at various produce. There were so many fresh fruits and vegetables (if you are lazy and don't want to pick any, you can buy it here). We were very enticed by the strawberry milk (which sadly, I didn't end up buying). I did buy a bag of dry ingredients to make corn chowder for 14.99, which I enjoyed four meals of! First, we went to pick blackberries. I got one of the cartons for 9.99 (there's also a smaller one for 6.99) because I got greedy and wanted lots of blackberries. Unfortunately, it took me at least an hour to fill up my carton with the blackberries that looked ripe since most of the ones we saw looked more like raspberries (bright red, incredibly tart, and most definitely not ready to be picked). Very occasionally, I'd find a really fat and juicy blackberry, which immediately got plucked off the tree and straight into my carton. I tried some of them after picking and a lot of them were pretty sour even though they were ripe. I was quite sad that I labored in vain. Overall, it was a very hot day and with the scarce amount of ripe blackberries, I should have just bought them at the farm market. Finally, one of my friends and I went to pick peaches while the rest of them went to stare at sunflowers. We were done in less than 15 minutes since we picked ~30 for the 19.99 box (the cheapest option). The peaches were great, 2-3 days after picking. I've been enjoying them with other friends so far. If there's anything I'd recommend picking from Larriland, it's the peaches. Fun time at the farm, the prices are a bit steep for picking, and I'm still kind of sad about the lack of sweet blackberries. read more

Larriland is raising their prices through the roof this year! Field tickets now required. $15 per person in the fall. I've been picking fruit here for 40 years. Larriland is my favorite pick-your-own farm in the area. I've come to the farm every year since 2020. I've picked pumpkins, Asian pears, berries and apples here. There is no entrance fee as you just pay for the bag/carrier and pick until you fill it up. During my recent visit, I saw signs that said they will be implementing a "pay what you can" entrance fee in the future. I appreciate that the website has the harvest calendar, so you know what is in/out of season and what you can expect to pick when planning your visit. When you enter the farm, there are clear signs indicating that you have to drive over to the picking areas. Each area/crop is clearly labeled. This year, I picked apples - they had 3-4 (maybe more) variations so we picked a few different ones. The fruits are always so juicy and delicious - they never last more than a week in my household! I usually pick fruit and then make my way over to the red barn (by the entrance) to visit the petting zoo and market area. I did not see the petting zoo this year, but I could have missed it because I visited a bit later than I usually do during the fall season. I noticed that there were less freshly baked goods this year, but they still had decent options available. Overall, this is a fun place to visit with family and/or friends, and is definitely kid-friendly with options for adults! read more

One of the most amazing Apple Farms in the area. This season we were able to pick from June to October. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the Apples. There are three different size bags you can purchase and so many different types of apples to pick. When you are done you can check out the store up front and you will some many different products. This is going to be the pumpkin spice review cause I'm only covering that season of Larriland: I always try to come here once or twice a year, there's various things to do at various times of the year, so like strawberry season let's see pick strawberries, apples season let's pick apples type thing. Pumpkin season is our favorite. Speaking of which the pumpkins are reasonably priced. Lots of things for the kids to do. The store has a lot of cool local food related products. What a cute farm for a nice morning family adventure. We came as 6 adults and 2 kids for strawberry picking. Parking was surprisingly easy for what appeared like high traffic season. There were helpful guides directing car and foot traffic. I was nervous that all the strawberries would be gone given the swarm of people I saw leaving with boatloads of fresh ripe red strawberries, but there were many fields left unpicked! As we were a party of six, we had to get the largest box for 48.50. It was worth it given the quality of the strawberries as well as insane amount we fit in a box. I can see how this is a popular destination. Depending on the season/month, there are a variety of fruits to pick! Looking forward to the next adventure here! read more

This is my second time at Larriland Farm, and both visits were so much fun. Last year, I picked peaches and, today, I picked sweet Rainier and Dark Sweet cherries. The Rainiers are my favorite. The line was long when I got there at 9:00am, so you really have to get there early to get the best selection. I've been going to Lariland since my first grade field trip (38 now). A family tradition w my kids now. I'm sad to say they've bit off more than they can chew. It's just Butler's but without the experienced. Very rude and overwhelmed staff. Bad food trucks. And no pumpkin patch. There are other better farms in the area. RIP Lariland. read more

Terrific experience at Larriland Farm. Will definitely return. We chose a Saturday morning during Memorial Day weekend. The staff told us this was the first weekend of the season for strawberries, they only started picking strawberries earlier that week. We called in advance, the recording gave perfect information, extremely helpful. There were hundreds of cars when we arrived around 10 am. We wanted to arrive before the day got too hot and too crowded, and we are glad we did. The farm organized the crowds really well and had staff around to help. We got in line to purchase a box, we hardly waited at all. Very quick, efficient, and friendly. In contrast to some pick-your-own places, you just buy the box and fill it with as much fruit as you can carry. You don't need to return to weigh and pay. We were directed to walk down until we see staff (in red t-shirts), and we walked down to the last row, there were plenty of staff and lots of people picking. We were escorted to a place on a row, and started picking. The rows had straw underneath the strawberry plants which made the strawberries clean and delicious-looking. Super easy to pick, The FlavorFest strawberries were incredible. Beautiful, plump, bright vibrant flavor, and they don't get crushed too easily. We spent about 15 minutes to fill our box and walked back to our car. The crowds were all well behaved and courteous. Really fun to see families picking with children, although some children could not take it after a few minutes and were hot/dirty/crying/tired. So if you bring your children, please be prepared, have the children well rested, come in the early morning before it gets hot, and have plenty of distractions and drinks for them. A wonderful experience and we would definitely return. read more

Found this on 21+ absolute best pumpkin patches in Maryland. This farm made it to #2 on the list and it was a 30 minute ride from the house. No entry fee and ample parking spaces throughout the farm. You can pick your own apples and vegetables but you can't use your own bag. They have designated shopping carts and baskets if you go to the store and designated Larriland Farm bag. They have a lot of fall festivities such as hay rides, corn maze, food trucks, and a boo barn for the kiddies. Unfortunately, dogs/pets or eating while picking is allowed on the field. Larriland has great potential but is missing some essential elements that I would've hoped to have seen. First, their food options are very limited and expensive without setting an ambiance. Chicken tenders, fries, hot dogs & hamburgers were the only food options during our visit. As a fall-oriented activity I would've expected more than fair food (maybe soup, comfort food, etc.). We purchased a tender & fry basket which came with only 3 tenders that fit in the palm of our hand (really). There were 2 types of apples & 1 type of pear available during our visit; be sure to check the website & call to see what fruits are available. It was a great workout and fun selecting from what was present! The on-site market was veryyyyy expensive. About $10 for a bottle of bbq sauce expensive. Seeing as most items weren't farm-made and were imported, the price didn't seem justified. We purchased 2 adult slushies and they were clearly liquified. I would have thought they would tell us the slushies weren't "ready" vs giving us straight juice. After a request, we were allowed to exchange them for bottled drinks. To end our visit we bought some donuts (unpictured). The donuts were essentially pre-made donuts, ran through a toaster oven to re-heat and then shaken in small Tupperware (with sugar) before being bagged. They weren't soft, were barely warm & the overall flavor wasn't good. Lastly, there's no indoor bathrooms. Families with small children -- be sure to prepare accordingly! When I went, you could either pick blueberries or sour cherries, so we went with blueberries (try to find out what they offer that day before going). $3 for the small box (1 person allowed in field) or $6 for the large box (still only 1 person in field) or $25 for a large bag. It was definitely a popular activity - there were lots of other families there too but maybe because it was a very hot day, but it did not feel crowded and everyone had masks on. Plus there are rows and rows of bushes so you can be distanced from other groups quite well. When you arrive, go straight to the blueberry fields and there you can pay for the boxes to start picking. There's a pond, goat petting station, and a barn selling local goods. I would like to come back to pick their other fruits!! read more

I come to Larriland Farm with my friends and family various times throughout the year to get the farm-to-table experience (and take awesome pictures!) They have a pick-your-own option throughout the year to pick raspberries, strawberries, apples, pumpkins, peaches, and more. I visited for my birthday in august to pick peaches and the workers were very kind and explained which peaches were ready for picking and how to pick the best fruits. It is a great learning experience, and the peaches were delicious too! My last visit was in October to pick pumpkins with some friends and we had an amazing time. I was surprised to see food trucks, Apple fritters, hay rides, and goats all just for visiting the farm. Many other places in the area require paying a fee to visit and get these types of attractions. I always keep an eye out for when Larriland is open and what fruits, vegetables, or flowers are available for picking. This is a great activity for all age groups, especially for little ones in the spring and summer. read more

This is one of the largest pick your own farms in Howard county, MD. You can pick from apples, peaches, variety berries, tomatoes, flowers and more. You pay by the bags, basket or bunch. A great time was had by all. It was the perfect time and quite a perfect day for picking apples and vegetables, as well as enjoying a hayride, maze for the kids and eating delicious, freshly cooked apple fritters paired with cold or hot apple cider. Over the years, it had become somewhat of a family tradition to visit during this time of year to pick apples in preparation for holiday apple pies, cobblers and weekend morning fried apples. I hadn't been here in awhile, but today's experience was even better than I remembered. This place has really blossomed over the years. There are now food trucks onsite with a variety of food options Some vendors only accept cash, so it's best to have cash on hand for some activities. The hayride was $4.00 per person and they only accept cash. There was no entrance fee for farm entry, but pretty much everything else had associated costs. Parking is free. We arrived at opening time, so there was ample parking available. As the day progressed, the influx of vehicles was hectic and parking was relatively scarce, but everything still ran smoothly. I find that it is a nice place for a family outing with so many things to do. If being outdoors in rustic surroundings is your kind of thing, I recommend it. read more

It's a nice family or friend outing and it's nice to pick the fruit and veggies yourself. If you don't want to pick, they have The Red Barn which is a store for you to buy already picked fruit, veggies, and other goodies like cheeses, milks, and fudge. They're good all year and their Fall festivities are fun! They have a hayride, pumpkin picking, and some fresh hot apple cider and apple fritters you can get! Our little family have been going to Larriland Farm for many years beginning with strawberry picking season. We've made going to this farm a family tradition. Each May/June, we would travel here to pick the ever so delicious plump red strawberries and then venture back in the Fall for apple picking. One year, we tried the cherry and spinach picking. Cherry picking has a short window to pick to get them before all the good cherries are picked clean. I'll update my review once we go apple picking this year. For this review, it is our recent experience with strawberry picking in 2021. Our family went on opening day. It wasn't too crowded and the picking was good. They changed the payment a bit- we paid a flat fee of $45 for the biggest cardboard tray. I didn't mind it because it's supporting local businesses and the strawberries are amazing!!! Depending on the three container choices determines how many people you can have in the field with you. For example, the smallest container allows 2 people in the field. I get it and it makes sense to me. I find it annoying when people are eating the strawberries (and other produce from their farm) in the field. To me, I consider it stealing. It's like going in the grocery store and eating an apple then leaving. (rant over... lol) The strawberries we picked were smaller than usual but they were packed with sweetness and a bit of tart. When we got home, I delivered some to my sister and parents. Then I cut some up to put in the freezer for smoothies. The rest we ate them as they were or sliced them to put on cake. There are so many ways to use these strawberries and that is the fun part about getting them too! After picking in the field, we always visit the big red barn for extra goodies we cannot find locally. We ended picking up some strawberry shortbread mix, radishes, bacon, local milk, fresh ground beef frozen, honey, garden pasta sauce, and a honey stick for my daughter. They had this enclosed hive on display to how the inside of a hive operates. Lastly, we visited the goats next to the barn. We got to give them some pellets they have in a gumball machine. Overall, another epic visit to Larriland Farm!! We will be back again in the Fall! read more

We had a wonderful time wandering through this countryside farm. They had several areas separated. The Main store is large and open. They sell all kinds of seasonal produce, apples, cider, cheese, eggs, milk all from local businesses. Large selection of honey & preserves. Specialty items as well. Behind the store on the lower level has local food trucks, cotton candy and ice cream. In the field by the store they had pumpkins, squash, and autumn decorations. Cute witches and some fun boards you can stand behind for pictures. There is a large parking area and on the other side they were doing hayrides. A couple miles down you can pick your own pumpkins. My friends and I visited this farm yesterday, and this was my first fruit picking experience. I was really blown away. The farm was easy to find. The volunteers made finding the different fields and parking seamless, and also they explained the picking process pretty well. The fruit here is definitely cheaper than if you were to buy it in the supermarket. The blueberries were three dollars a pound, the blackberries were also three dollars a pound, and the raspberries were five dollar something a pound. Sometimes if you go over 5 pounds or go over 10 pounds, there is a discount rate. The signs also tell you how to know the fruit is ready. The beet farm was less popular, but it was a real treasure find at $1.49 A pound and there were so many beets to pick and they were pretty large. Of course, your experience will vary depending on what time of year that you come, but in mid-late June this year, there were so many blueberries and they were really easy to pick. The blackberries were a little bit more difficult to find good ones because a lot of them ended up being pretty sour even if they were all the way black. There were not that many ripe raspberries at the time that we went. Overall, I definitely recommend coming to Larriland Farm! The farm is beautiful with a large pond in the middle that offers a nice breeze and picture taking opportunity. read more

If you're looking at the line for apple fritters and wondering if it's worth it, yes, IT IS WORTH IT. Tip, there are TWO lines. The right line is to order, and the left line is for pick up. The apple fritters were an absolute 10/10 here. I loved the small bites, the funnel cakey dough, and the freshness of them. The cider, however, didn't come out hot and it was just a tad too sweet for me. Same goes for the cider found in the market. As for the apple picking, there were plenty when we went the 3rd week of October and the apples were perfect! We picked up some golden delicious, winecrisp (as a substitute for granny smiths), and a few braeburns. I love how there are rows sectioned off so they can be picked at proper times--whereas Homestead farm allows people to pick wherever. This ensures that the apples that you get to pick are ripe, big, and perfect to eat. Overall, definitely one of my spots to pick apples in the area and for good reason! read more

We had a great morning here! It was one of the few farms in the area that didn't require tickets or reservations in advance (which are always tricky with kids!). Fields were large enough for social distancing and everyone needed to wear masks - and thankfully, everyone was! Appreciate the farm's considerations during this pandemic. Kids had fun picking apples (pay per bag) and picking their own pumpkins (69 cents per lb) - a real pumpkin field with pumpkins growing on vines so overall great learning experience, too! This weekend the golden delicious were ready and they taste great! Kids (who usually aren't the biggest apple fans) have been eating them nonstop since the car ride home, so it's been a winning day for everyone! We picked a peck of peaches today. Somehow we filled a large box of pretty peaches unbelievably fast, but it was fun. I learned that peaches always feel hard on the tree and soften later, but don't pick green ones. Lots of other fruits and veggies available for picking today as well check the website for details. In the age of covid, masks are required on the farm and you buy your picking containers at the field. No reservations required and no weighing by the pound.
