Order your food at the counter and they bring it to your table when ready. We ordered caldereta, sisig, dinuguan, BBQ pork skewers, fresh lumpia and for the sweets: Milo iskrambol, mango float, ube buchi, and because we spent over $40, I got a FREE mais con yelo! Heck yeah!! Of course, the kids loved all the sweets! They couldn't pick a favorite between all the frozen drinks: "all were sooo good!" Food was all good also! I came across this place while looking for another store. When walking into Big Bazaar be ready for a fabulous surprise around every corner. This store is very bright and clean and very organized. I am not familiar with Indian food and spices but I have no problem testing and trying something out. Like my momma always says " You won't know until you try it" and so I did with many things from this store. I just grabbed a basket and roamed from aisle to aisle picking up anything that caught my eye. I found this really tasty Lychee drink, some tasty frozen cheese filled parathas, spice soda (this is definitely and acquired taste- think of it as a savory masala soda, but I just had to try it), some natural shampoo and facial cleanser. I believe some of my roaming around aimlessly looked like I needed a tour of India and that's what I got. The beautiful & gracious owner, Lavanya, came over and introduced herself. She walked around the store and answered all my questions. She explained the uses of many of the different spices to the natural remedies you can create from them too. She was full of so much useful information that our conversation lasted over 10 minutes. Now I must warn you, once you have filled up your basket and are ready to check-out you will walk towards the front of the store but before you get to the registers there is a table to the right full of homemade Indian treats, one of them being a huge and tasty samosas filled with curried potatoes and peas I believe. These badboys are so big and only 99 cents. So originally I bought 4 samosas. Once I had checked out at the register, I went to my car, put my groceries in the back seat and sat in the car. I was curious of how good the samosas were, so I decided to take a bite. And then another bite and another bite. All I know is that the 1st samosa was gone and I was like I have to go and get some more. Now don't judge me, I mean I ended up purchasing 10 samosas, but they weren't all for me, ok maybe 3 will be for me, but they were absolutely wonderful. Once I was home I turned my oven to 325 and heated up the samosa which gave the pastry a crispy texture, a little dab of the mango chutney or the tamarind & date chutney I bought and me and my family had a delicious afternoon snack.

I arrived half an hour after opening and it was crowded. Long lines for people using WIC vouchers. Most of the produce tags were written with their Spanish names. Some produce had no price tags and I didn't want to stand in line without knowing the prices. I had to ask about the fresh mushrooms that were $5/$8 depending on the size of the carton. There were food booths selling stuff like pupusas for $3 a piece. No entertainment on my visit. It's nice to know their is a place for people to use WIC for fresh fruits and veggies. The only fruit I saw was apples and small plums. Even though Yelp lists the address as University Ave, it's actually on Ann Street and you can't enter off University Ave. I had to backtrack and weave through the neighborhood (with the help of my map app) and find Ann St again to park a block away. DO NOT USE APPLE PAY HERE!!!!!!!…read more There is no sign posted saying that Apple Pay is currently not working, so I had no reason to know there was an issue. I placed my order, they rang everything up, and the payment was declined on their end. However, the charge still reduced my Apple Cash balance and shows as "pending" on my end. The employees told me the pending transaction supposedly will not authorize, but apparently this has happened before. If they already know there is an issue with Apple Pay, why is there no sign at the register saying, "We are currently unable to accept Apple Pay"? Had there been a sign, I obviously would not have used it and this entire situation could have been avoided. Now my money is tied up in a pending transaction, I have a screenshot showing the charge and the reduced balance, and I couldn't leave with the items I had already attempted to purchase. I asked the employees for help and asked to speak with a manager. I was told the manager wasn't there. I asked if they could call the manager, and they told me they didn't have a manager's number and refused to call anyone. The only solution they offered was for me to come back tomorrow and talk to the manager. So, essentially, their payment system has an issue, they apparently know about it, they didn't warn customers about it, and now I'm expected to rearrange my plans and come back tomorrow to deal with the consequences. The employees also seemed completely lost about what to do. The only response I kept getting was, "I apologize for that." I appreciate an apology, but an apology doesn't resolve the fact that my balance has been reduced and I don't have the merchandise I attempted to purchase. I ultimately had to buy the item using a credit card instead, while now having to wait and see whether the Apple Pay transaction actually processes or eventually gets reversed. If it does process despite the store not completing the purchase, I'll have to contact the card issuer to dispute the charge. The frustrating part is that this could have been prevented by something incredibly simple: PUT UP A SIGN. If Apple Pay isn't working, tell customers before they use it. Don't let the transaction fail on your end, leave the customer's money in pending status, and then tell the customer to come back tomorrow because you don't know what else to do. One star because the actual problem wasn't just that Apple Pay didn't work. Technical issues happen. The problem was the lack of communication, the lack of a warning, and the complete lack of any useful assistance once the problem occurred.
