We picked up some salmon from the meat department, which she offered to cut into 4 equal servings for 2 meals at our cabin, wine for 6 meals - LOL - some cooking veggies, a baguette and same day made fruit tart from the bakery, sliced roasted Boar's Head Turkey & provolone cheese from the deli for lunches, yogurts for breakfast, blueberries and grapes to snack and our total was around $85. Not bad for 5 days of provisions while staying at nearby Bass Lake. Each employee we met or asked assistance from was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We came in on a Saturday around 5pm and it seems it had been a long holiday week of tourism, but they were all great. The store was clean, easy to navigate and signs were all clear for aisle descriptions. Plenty of parking in the large lot as well. Cheers! "CC"

Von's Purina Tidy Cat Litter: 2026 Aug 28 - Oct 9 (2.33 of 5)…read more A BIG thanks to Alexia (5 of 5) When it comes to our four-legged family members, you want the best for them. They can't tell you what they need in words - so you have to watch their mood, their actions, and the sounds they convey to you. We switched to this brand litter three years ago. We have had no issues -- until recently. My cats started to sneeze and make choking sounds after their toilet-use. I keep their toilet clean by removing their waste every day, sometimes twice a day. When I went in to clean during their regular cleaning time, I noticed the floor is dustier than usual. That same day, I scooped up a couple of small tile-like substance. One chunk was large enough to have me concerned. That's when I decided to find out more about the litter my kitties have been using. We've been purchasing this from Von's. *Litter issue is a 1 of 5 My first call was on August 28th, 2026. My call was disconnected. My second call was picked up by Bo, who forwarded my call to Kendra, litter specialist. I explained my concern to her. After getting her request to email the following: images of the box (front & back), the SKU number, my receipt, image of the chunk I scooped up, and my information, she said she'd mail out a certificate for a replacement. Kendra said I should receive the certificate in 10-14 days. *Kendra is a 1 of 5 I was going to give up but my friends said I should not give in to big corporations. They said that's how BIG corporations make their money - by intimidating regular consumers like you and I. So... on October 9th, I called Purina Tidy Cats. I spoke with Alexia. They have a record of my conversation with Kendra on August 28th. Upon checking, Alexia said her computer indicated that a complain was lodged but nothing was done. Alexia apologized and said she'd mail out the coupon, and I should receive in 5-7 days. She even gave me the customer number to follow up if I did not receive the coupon in a week. A week later, I received the coupon in the mail. *Alexia is a 5 of 5 Lesson learned: Do not allow big corporations to intimidate you. Keep trying. You will lose out if you don't try. DON'T GIVE UP!

Sure, but when you factor in the cost of fuel and the time spent driving to Oakhurst just to save a few dollars, the difference doesn't always make sense. I feel this store is sometimes held to unrealistic expectations for what it is. This isn't a Whole Foods or a Vons -- it's an independent neighborhood grocery store serving the local community. For the services they provide, I think they do a great job. The staff has always been helpful, friendly, and willing to assist whenever I've needed something. I haven't tried the deli yet, so I can't speak to that, but overall this store does a great job filling an important need for the neighborhood.

Grocery Outlet, Oakhurst: 2026 Aug (5 of 5)…read more There are three major grocery stores where we live, and we've shopped at all three stores. Somehow, one store kept pulling us back, and that's Grocery Outlet. There are several reasons for that: (1) The store always looks clean and their shelves are well stocked. (2) 99% of the time, the checker welcomes you with a smile and wishes you a good day. (3) All the staff are trained well. (4) The music they play doesn't break your ear-drums. In fact, shoppers seem happy to hum or sing along, which breaks the ice and make shoppers appear happy. (5) They don't change things around unnecessarily so you know exactly which aisle to go to for the products you need. Overall, I think the owners have done a splendid job in training their staff, their music choice, and the environment they created. Note: The Grocery Outlet here is independently owned and operated by the local franchise team -- Brandon and Jessica Steele

Raley's supermarkets consistently offer a top-quality, expansive selection of fresh produce. They are known for sourcing fresh, seasonal items from nearby farms, which reduces shipping time and ensures peak freshness. Their strong relationships with local farmers also give those growers a reliable retail outlet while providing customers with the best seasonal offerings. The bakery is equally impressive, featuring creative fruit pies, consistently high-quality baked goods, and the irresistible aroma of items fresh from the oven. This particular location also stands out for its nice selection of Yosemite-themed gifts and souvenirs, including hats, hoodies, stickers, magnets, shot glasses, mugs, and more. Prices here are typically 15-30% lower than at local gift shops or inside the park village. The restrooms are generally well-maintained and clean, which is always appreciated on a long drive. Overall, this Raley's is my reliable one-stop shop to grab coffee, fruit, a sandwich, and take a quick restroom break before continuing to Yosemite.
