We decided to give Dolce a try after looking at the reviews. We were not disappointed. My husband tried the polenta with Bolognese and it was as good as the other reviewers noted. I had the beet salad, which was also excellent. For entrees, my husband had the lobster tail special, which was excellent, almost like a fish stew with a huge lobster tail on top. My butternut squash ravioli were good, but I would have liked a bit more butternut squash flavor in the sauce they used. The Italian Chocolate Soufflé was excellent; really great dessert. Great service, attentive without being intrusive. Food is very good - I had a Caesar salad and one of the specials - pasta in an olive oil and garlic sauce with scallops, mussels, and prawns. It was supposed to include lobster rather than prawns, but they'd run out. Good flavor, good portion - too much for me to finish - and the menu was great. So why only four stars? Running out of lobster is the only part that's on the restaurant - the main reason was noise: there were a couple of very loud tables, and the space was not able to contain the noise well. Our first time here. For an appetizer we ordered the stuffed zucchini with crabmeat and spinach with light pink sauce - delicious. I ordered the chicken Dolce. Normally I wouldn't order this, but it was fantastic! The rest of the dishes ordered were: chicken Florentine and chicken Parmesan. Both very good. Just had dinner with best friends, great conversation led to the waiter handing out dessert menus. We made our choices, whereupon my wife asked for a decaf coffee please. Waiter refused to make a pot of coffee. What? Waiter said the water in Flemington is bad. Wife suggests he take some of the bottled water they've been pouring and make some coffee. Waiter refuses. Very disappointed. I've been here twice before and already knew that the service was lackluster, however the quality of the food made up for the deficit. Unfortunately a beautiful outdoor evening tonight left me feeling frustrated and disrespected. I truly wish for more than one restaurant to be successful in Flemington. However, our polenta appetizer took over 40 min to arrive as we watched other patrons arrive after us and receive their entrees. When my goat cheese gnocchi finally arrived without explanation for the delay, the texture was mushy and the plate overdone with sauce. At no time did anyone come to check on us. The manager began taking furniture indoors and we waved him down for our check. At that point he asked about our meals and I respectfully explained that the texture was off. His reply? It's homemade and he retreated to indoors. I then brought my payment to him and calmly explained my disappointment with the experience as well as my wish for restaurants to succeed n Flemington. . Absolutely amazing! Service was wonderful & ALL of the food was unbelievably delicious! We had the Beet & Goat Cheese salad and the Buffalo Burrata as our appetizer salads. The pesto inspired bread dip that you get with your bread is to die for. For dinner, my husband had the Whole Wheat Penne with Spicy Shrimp and I had the Cavatelli Primavera (I substituted cavatelli for angel hair though). And for dessert, we ordered the Chocolate Soufflé and Canolis (you get 3 minis) with two cups of decaf cappuccino. I can't say even one negative thing about what we had this evening. The beets and goat cheese were unreal, the pasta was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the vegetables were fresh and delicious, the shrimp was flavorful with just the right amount of spice, the cappuccino was a dessert in itself, we've all tried a chocolate soufflé before but this one was perfection, I'm so excited to have such a wonderful place so close to home! read more

This is the best Italian food I have had in a very long time! Most delicious, tender and flavorful chicken francaise ever. The bread and basil dipping sauce was so good I could have made a meal of that alone. Very generous portions snd great service, without feeling pressured or rushed. Four of us went to celebrate a family birthday the other night, the food was mediocre nothing outstanding. The polenta appetizer was good a crispy outside with a soft interior, the meat sauce it came with was average as was the eggplant rollatini. I ordered one of the dinner specials, filet mignon ravioli and was disappointed. The pasta itself wasn't very good almost a supermarket wonton skin and the filling was indistinguishable, there wasn't much of it and there wasn't much taste, was there filet mignon in it, who knows? It didn't help that the sauce served over it seemed to come from a jar, the mushrooms were definitely from a can. My wife enjoyed her gnocchi and my daughters found their entrees to be "Ok". I also found it unusual no salad came with the meal. The deserts were decent and the wait staff was very attentive an A + in service. The prices you pay are commensurate with the level of food you are getting, a slight step above pizzeria or chain food. The hunt for a real quality Italian restaurant in this area continues especially since I have heard Nespolo closed their doors. read more

One of the better restaurants in the area. We usually try to go once a month. Great food and ambiance. My wife had the mushroom ravioli and I had the chicken francese - both were excellent as was the tiramisu we had for desert. Love this restaurant! I loved it when it was the Italian Bistro in Highland Park, and I love it again as Dolce here in Flemington. The food is always excellent, the service equally excellent. Tonight we enjoyed the pear salad, and our entrees were chicken parmigiana, veal saltimboca and butternut squash ravioli. Each one was flavorful, tender and delicious. Oh, and the bread with the pesto is a great start to the meal. We enjoyed a leisurely meal and wished we had room for dessert, but the portions were so generous that we just couldn't. However, I happen to know that the Tira Misu(sp?) is so incredible that you shouldn't miss it when you dine there. Did I mention that I love this restaurant? read more

I've been waiting to try dolce since I saw it open up and it did not disappoint! I got the the goat cheese gnocchi and it simply melts in your mouth. My husband got the lamb, and while I not a huge fan, the rizzoto with it was out of this world. Will definitely be coming back! read more

We were looking for a nice BYOB to have a celebration dinner for a dear friend. Someone in the group of ladies that were discussing on where to go, mentioned Dolce. We all live local in Flemington, so thought it would be nice to try a place nearby. I made reservation for 11 inside the facility, since they also have outside dining options. Our table was set up so nice with white linen tablecloths. The waiters were so polite, and attentive. After settling in, we looked over the specials of the night, which was a Wed. evening, and to see what the menu entailed. There were many choices of salads, seafood, chicken dishes, and pastas. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad for my appetizer. It was delicious!! For my main course I ordered the lobster and crab ravioli which was one of the specials that night. Again, the food was wonderful! I would highly recommend Dolce's for a night out of fine dining. Ambience, service, presentation, quality of food and price was great! First time I have ever been to Dolce and I was blown away with flavor. I had the fried calamari which was perfectly tender and not over cooked. A delicious Cesar salad which was also flavorful. Healthy pieces of lettuce and just the right amount of dressing. As a main course, I had the chicken parmigiana; which was tender, juicy, and flavorful. We wanted to try something different, and since this was a new restaurant we wanted to check it out. We were a little worried since they were new and there's usually kinks when a new place opens up. However, I have to say that the Decor was absolutely beautiful. Attention to detail was very much focused on. The food was plated beautifully and artistically. Just because something looks good, doesn't mean it will be good however, it tasted as delicious as it looked. Vegetables were not over done and not overly ladened with butter. The food wasn't hidden behind or under the accompanying sauces. It was a perfect balance of flavor and ingredients. We started with a salad, and the salad was not swimming in dressing, however you can taste it and it enhanced the greens accompanying fruit. . Even though the outside dining was on a main street, it was purposely set up to look attractive, surrounded by pots of flowers and lighting. The choice of outdoor furniture was outstanding. That's important when you're enjoying a good meal which I feel you won't be disappointed. We had the veal saltimbocca, veal fungi and chicken florentina. We tried the chocolate soufflé for dessert, and it was truly one of the most delicious soufflés I have ever had. read more

We made our first visit on a Tuesday evening. It had rained recently and the front door was open; a few flies were came by for a visit. We had to ask for the AC to be turned on, as the fans on the left side of the restaurant were not operable. Our salads (extra charge) were limp and not chilled. The bread was the usual plain, white sliced sections and the green sauce served for dipping was thick and tasteless. Our entrees were OK, but nothing special. Based on some of the reviews that we read, my husband and I had high expectatiions. We have been wanting to try this place. We started with beef carpaccio and the crabcake. The beef carpaccio was excellent. The dressing that was on the salad was wonderful. My only complaint was that the red onions were a little overpowering, The crab cake was too much breading and the sauce was not all that great. The crab cake did not have much flavor. I ordered the Chicken Dolce and it was OK. The egglplant was cut too thick and it was charred on the grill and didn't really add to the overall flavor of the chicken. The dish would have been better with just the roasted red peppers and goat cheese. The mashed potatoes were very thick, not creamy and had no real flavor. My husband had the stuffed pork tenderloin and ate about half off it before he got to the stuffing portion of it (Fontina cheese and spinach). The pork was a little dry.The service was good. If I want to be real picky they do not set the table properly, salad forks were on the inside. I ended up using my dinner fork for the appetizer. Not that it's a problem but it would have been nice to have the bigger fork for my dinner. (didn't realize that until I went to eat my chicken) read more
