Had to go with the plain slices because that's always my starting point when trying a new pizza place and they were decent. Sauce to cheese ratio was good and the under carriage was crisp but the crust was too crunchy for me. The guys at the counter were friendly and although the place is dated it was still clean. Ordered 2 Pies, Bruschetta & Margarita & Zeppolis. Paid $50 and I completely regret it. The pies were literally thrown together and the pizza was undercooked. Super annoyed. We ordered 3 pizzas from Dolce. We had all already started to eat; as we were hungry from waiting for the pizza to arrive. Long story short; there was a long strand of hair baked into the cheese pizza that someone was eating. GROSS!!! Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of it, but it's disgusting!!! It's good to have a pizzeria in the area. With all the franchise pizzarias in the city it's good. Now I've been there when the original owners had it and it was pretty good. Recently, I ordered 2 Eggplant Parm sandwiches. Now , my father was a cook in Italian restaurants and even owned and operated a pizzaria in East Orange Back Indah late 80s and I cooked lots of sandwiches. However, I was hoping that the eggplant was good, Wrong,,, the eggplant was dark Grey colored. I personally would not serve that or suggest something else. But my thoughts were: How can you screw up an eggplant Parmesan but they did royally. The portions were huge but in the trash it went and the bread was fresh and gave it to the birds. Seriously, Dolce eggplant is not something you can make and put in the freezer for months then serve it with a smile. It's not right to serve dark grey colored eggplant. Note, if you don't sell your eggplant in 2 weeks, throw it all out. Go to the market buy some fresh eggplant and push it on menu. However, don't serve old Frozen Eggplant to customers. Their pizza crust is ridiculously thin and crispy by default, and unlike any other pizza dough I've ever encountered - and not in a good way. Almost like a cracker-pizza experiment gone wrong. Also, their cheese is far from quality - it is an oddly white mix of something cheese-like, but not a nice chewy mozzarella as one would expect. Let me cut to the chase - this pizza is gross. They have a great website with all the bells and whistles, and a huge menu - but the pizza is disgusting (can't think of a better word as I sit here trying to decide what to do with $20 worth of inedible pizza.). The crust is tasteless and baked to a crisp (but not in the good thin crust/cracker way). The sauce was bland and over powered with oregano all at the same time. Some of the toppings have an artificial flavor. Honestly, dominos is a much, much better option (and they have a pretty cool website too). First time ordering from here since it changed owner's. Ordered pepperoni and a veggie pie, both very good. All veggies were fresh, not canned, other than the mushrooms. The dough has a nice flavor too as the previous poster mentioned. The pies came piping hot (and early!) and the driver actually came back to deliver the soda he had forgotten. You can order online, which we did (the site is nicely done and not glitchy) and they offer a 10% promo code for first orders if you register, so that was nice. Pizza was fresh and made promptly. Not like some other pizza spots in the area. Just the right amount of cheese too so when you pick up the slice it kind of hangs a little off the pie. The dough was very tasty too. Allowed for the good kind fold one handed that made for easy eating. As for the people they seem very friendly and look to deliver really good service. Star Tavern and Ralphs in Nutley are the only other pizza spots I eat. This one just made its way into my pizza spots. read more

I ordered mild wings online with garlic knots. To my surprise when I got home all I had was fried chicken and garlic knots. I called the shop to notify them of thier mistake and the guy on the phone said ohh you ordered online and we don't have mild wings. I asked so wouldn't have been good customer service to call the customer and notify them that they didn't have what was ordered, or even when I came to get my food to notify me that they didn't have what I paid for. This place is 5 mins from my job and it was great. I enjoyed the slice of cheese pizza and the antipasta salad. Very filling! and they even gave bread and butter with it. I ordered right from Yelp and my order was ready when I arrived. The store looks clean and well kept. The service was good too. Unfortunately, the extremely kind delivery driver made an honest mistake in giving me someone else's order. No big deal. However, it became a big deal when the restaurant called me and asked that I put all the incorrect food back in the bag to give it back to the delivery driver who would then bring it to the correct person's home. They made sure to clarify I didn't touch anything. I stated I didn't eat anything but DID open everything to confirm it wasn't my order and even ripped the tightly tied plastic bag open. This was acceptable to them and they decided I would just place all the food back and give it back to the driver who was on his way back to my home. They even asked that I switch the broken plastic bag with the bag that held my CORRECT order in which was soon to be delivered by the driver. Mistakes happen and I don't mind that the driver gave me the incorrect food. I DO mind that this establishment finds it acceptable to have food that was already delivered be taken back and given to another customer instead of making them a brand new order. It's concerning how trusting they are that someone wouldn't tamper with an individual's food and trust that they didn't touch it although they have absolutely no idea who they are speaking to over the phone. VERY concerning and unethical business practices which most definitely are a health liability. The driver informed me he would return the food to the restaurant because he agrees this was extremely wrong although his honest mistake in bringing me the wrong food. I place zero blame on him. Dolce Pizza asking that the driver bring this same food to another person's home is 100% WRONG. The previous pizzeria @ this location was terrible, even Domino's Pizza was better & I really hate Domino's!. I swore I'd never order from it again. Then I saw it changed owners, calling itself Dolce. I went in, tried it & and have been a customer ever since this past spring. The pizza tastes just like NY pizza: flavorful, with the right balance of cheese and tomatoes. I love the fact that I can get toppings on a personal pizza. The cheese steak sandwiches are terrific, and the subs are good, too.You can customize all of your orders online; that's fantastic! I work long hours nearby and order food on an almost daily basis. I've found this area's Italian restaurants/pizzarias to be a disgrace to North Jersey and Italians. (I can say that. Macartney isn't my maiden last name) Craig of Dolce's stopped by, introduced himself (Nice guy, helped me sell a car), invited us to give them a try and the rest is history. They deliver, their food is best in the area (and I've tried them all) and the owners are cool. My favorite part is that they don't scrimp on the salad dressing. Perfect amount. Chicken Parmigiana sub was great, and the pizza I had the other day was great as well. Can't wait to eat my way through the rest of the menu. A+ read more

Things started off great when Dolce opened and I was a frequent customer, in-person and delivery. Little things went wrong but I overlooked it - missing items, wrong beverage, cold or poorly prepared items. Management was courteous and worked hard to make things right once I let them know. But, tonight, I got burgers made with smelly beef and the wrong toppings (which didn't matter because the beef was bad anyway). I didn't bother complaining and I won't bother ordering again.
