Today was my first visit to this little bakery counter within the Mercado san Augustin. They have a small refrigerated display case with about 10 cakes for sale,slices of cake in small containers for purchase and a separate cooler with drinks for purchase. On the counter they had a placard with all the possible flavors one can order. There was a "Dawn" flavor which is vanilla cake with all types of fruit added in. I purchased a chocoflan to bring into work for a birthday. I had prompt service and they accept major credit cards. I wish them luck in this little spot. Cake was good but service is terrible. Came in to get my cake an hour after they'd opened and the lady at the counter just ignored me and just went about her business. Then she stood in the back and was just stirring a pot. I said, "Hi, I'm here to pick up a cake." And she looked at me with no expression and said just to wait a moment. You can get three sizes of deliciousness, large round cake, small round cake, and slices. I encourage you to try the slices that are geared towards the southern arizona crowd. Looks like they are mostly a large cake to order operation, but now that I know they have slices I will be back for some sugar overload. I've gone to this bakery for a few years now, since it was brand new, and the cakes have never disappointed me. I also bought a raspberry chocolate cake for a friend and it was heavenly! The owner is very nice. Depending on who is working, Spanish may be their main language, so if you don't speak Spanish, be ready for a lot of pointing and nodding. Also, there is no menu online, since they don't have a website. That can be both a positive and a negative.
