I love this bakery. Everything they make is so good. This review update is for their rosca de reyes (three kings cake). I didn't know they offered them, but I called to ask and lucky me, they were accepting orders the day before! I stopped over while waiting for a smoothie from next door, because I saw they had tamales, I bought a half dozen corn tamales for 14.00 - not bad at all! I preordered a cake for my daughter's birthday because tres leche is her favorite so we were really looking forward to it but unfortunately it just didn't meet our expectations. Collectively as a family, we found that it was pretty dry and not very flavorful. Additionally, I arrived after my cake pick up time and my cake still wasn't ready. We had to wait for them to add finishing touches and I was in a bit of a time crunch so it was a bit of a hassle that it wasn't ready but the staff member was nice and kind and helped as fast as she could. Based on these reviews, I wonder if it was a one off but I'm not sure I'll try it out again. read more

Wanted to try them out so I ordered Tres Leches for my daughter's birthday. 1. She said it tasted good but design is lacking. 2. They said they NOT do any smaller cake with custom decor for under 15 servings and it costs $132 at that size. This is unfortunate as it's a big student population and a parent like myself would willing to pay under about $75 for a smaller more design-customized cake that feeds 6. 3. Got a Vanilla Tres Leches here that was really yummy but definitely a bit pricey. The vanilla flavor was very subtle but I appreciated that the Tres Leches wasn't unbearably sweet. If you need any kind of message written on it, they'll do it on the side because the space on top is minimal and although the writing was beautiful, nobody noticed it! The packaging could definitely be better because this is a cake that drips a good bit of the liquid it's soaked with and because their cake pan is so shallow, this liquid ended up on my car seat and on my hands. The shop itself is smallish but they have a good variety of things to offer, and the folks who work there are nice. But ultimately Tres Leches can be found all over and for me, the price was a bit high compared to others you can buy in less pretty locations but equally delicious spots! read more

Yummy!!! Beautiful cakes and delicious! A coworker brought in a cake from here and it was very good. I stopped in today and they sell whole cakes and cakes by the slice. I got 2 slices of tres leches (vanilla and marble) and they were good! I love that they sell them but the slice, just enough. I will definitely be back to try other desserts. was super excited to try this spot while i searched for a german chocolate cake for a birthday ! I placed the order a few days ahead online, got a confirmation number and a day and arrival time. Upon arrival i was not greeted kindly, the lady then proceeded to search and was unable to find my cake and was not communicating what was going on. She finally found what was supposed to be my cake but in a larger size and made me feel bad about a mistake not made on my end. I said it's fine if it's bigger and she proceeded to tell me "it's fine for you but not for me". i offered to pay for the bigger cake and was shoed away and told "just to take it". What started as a new exciting experience turned into a poor interaction due to something that was not in my control. The place is super cute, they have a full display case. She asked me if I could send her a few pictures if I had any (I did) and I chose the filling and flavors all over phone. This made me nervous since I had never ordered from them before. So, I pick up the cake and I'm greeted with two bright smiles and I see the cake... it was exactly how I wanted it! Perfectly made! Now the real test.. how would it taste? We recently visited Dolce Pastello after having brunch nearby to check out their offering of sweet treats. They've got a pretty wide selection of homemade baked goods from sweet breads to pies and flan. My husband ended up ordering some flan to go and said that it was creamy and had just the right amount of sweetness. I ended up ordering a couple of half dozen tamales of different flavors (chicken mole and pork salsa verde). The chicken mole was excellent and the masa wasn't overly thick, so it didn't overwhelm the flavor of the tamale. We've saved the pork for later, but I'm sure it will be just as good! There is no question that the desserts I have had from them are outstanding, and delicious. However, their business practices will make me never to use them for a special order again. Ever. Ordered two cakes for a special engagement/birthday celebration. Paid in advance. 5 days before the event I called to cancel as the celebrants came down with Covid and could not host their special event. They refused to issue a refund. After several phone calls and conversations they finally said the best they could do was a $90 refund and a credit against a future purchase of roughly $50. The original order was for 140. If I had sought the refund closer to the time of the event I could understand their reluctance. But 5 days notice seems like plenty of time. They have lost our business for any future special events. read more
