I asked my HOA for a referral to a good plumber that the association uses. They gave me the phone number for Doheny Plumbing. I called and was able to get Jack F. to come out immediately. I mean, having your drains back-up is a nightmare. He quickly got my drain situation cleared. Then I asked him if he could return soon to replace one of my toilets that had been giving me trouble by the tank filling valve "running" frequently...which costs me extra water charges. I purchased the new toilet myself, and Jack returned three days later to install the new fixture and haul away my old one. He also changed the seat for me, putting the existing seat onto my new toilet (it was much better quality). Jack did such a fine job that I recommended him to my daughter, who lives less than two miles away. She was having the same tank water "running" problem with a very old toilet. She had Jack install the same commode that I had purchased, and now we are both happy. Doheny always does a good job; their plumbers are well trained. Tub spout was not installed correctly, (they had manufacturer directions) had to get them back out, was charged for both services. Added a toilet install to their second visit, they did not fasten the toilet or caulk the toilet. For the price charged I was expecting a comparable service. read more

Do not call have them out this week. They were supposed to come out and look at it quoted instead they came out, looked at it tore the whole water heater apart charge me a couple hundred dollars instead of quoting me and just left my water heater pulled apart, waste of money. I contacted Doheny Plumbing the last of April. I would NOT recommend them under any circumstances.  They were unresponsive to phone calls or follow-up.  It's online 'mission statement' has absolutely NO value.   The service person was an hour late & then was going to instigate overtime charges. The majority of the service call was spent explaining for the 4th time, the problems that needed attention.  I was charged $269.00, an overcharge of 1/2 hour (10 minutes of which was for writing up the bill) & ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was accomplished!   I was left with ALL of the same problems  - a COMPLETE waste of a lot of time and precious money on my part & a lot of stress.  There was NO  acknowledgement or response to my letter to them to them regarding all of the above. WARNING** DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY** A client of mine, who is an older single woman requested service from Doheny Plumbing only for them to come out and do NOTHING, then charge her $200. When I called to speak with the plumber who went out to service the faucet, he told me he could not identify the brand and therefore he would not know how to fix it and recommended we call the manufacturer (this is why we called you). This is absolutely unacceptable - if your job is to fix things and you cannot problem solve to a solution how does one consider themselves professional? I'm honestly just in shock at the level of incompetence. Like you do this all day every day... for years. I could go on but unlike this company, I actually have work to do. ALWAYS READ THE REVIEWS** Unfortunately, our client didn't read the reviews. A wise person once told me that even if there is one bad review look for another company because they can drown out the bad reviews with good ones and you will never know. What happened? Doheny used to be a really good company for years our go to call place. The Dad fixed some great problems for us and we paid them great. Lately we had this really bad experience where they did not bring working equipment to job and were not able to clear a toilet because of it and walked off job upset at equipment or someone at company and said nothing was due or anything just left. In a panic had to call Roto Rooter and luckily 30 min later they arrived and cleared the toilet as their equipment worked and paid $800. 6 months out of no where Doheny sent us a late bill $579. Tried to tell them what happened and they just refused listen or see the Roto Rooter bill. Paid in protest their $579 bill for uncompleted work, who needs headache crap from a vendor right? Now they are threatening for a few extra dollars of a made up late fee a lien on company property for the time the bank took to send the check and arrive to them. This is the kind of business they turned into, bill you for work they did not do and threaten to file a lean for a late fee on a bill you had no idea about. This is so wrong in many ways. Glad our credit card on file expired over the six months as they forgot they could charge the account credit card. My recommendation is to avoid this vendor. Its not about the money, a misunderstanding, but the break in trust. Very sad. A vendor has to earn a customer's trust, a customer has only to pick a vendor. read more

I had an awesome experience with Doheny Plumbing. I needed to get my gas line rerouted and I was desperate since my renters would not have a stove till the gas line is rerouted. Doheny plumbing was able to schedule a tech (David) to my residence within the hour. Amazing!!! I was very impressed with David's hard work and honesty....... Honesty you ask? I paid David in cash and did not realize that I handed him more cash than the bill. David called me and informed me of the error and met me at our local Walmart parking lot got the overpayment resolved. Doheny just got a loyal customer for life!!!! Called late last night @ closing time the person i spoke to asked me if it was an emergency or if it could wait until the am. We are also a business and was not an emergency so the next day was fine. I was expecting them to say between 8-5 someone would be out .... but NO the gentleman on the phone said between 8-9 am WHAT !!!!! i first thought we will see. well guess what little after 8 am here shows up the plumber. OMG what a surprise someone keeping the appointment no call from them saying well something else came up no he was here :). This morning at 5:30 am we began hearing water pouring out from some where. We discovered it was from the water heater in the garage. After turning off the water, we were kind of freaking out. Not knowing who to call at this awful hour and from having seen your trucks about town, I called in for service. The operator was extremely helpful and sympathized with us. We deemed it not an emergency and were told someone in the office would call around 7:30 am. At around 8:30 am, we received a call from the office to discuss the problem. With panic in our voice, the male employee quoted our problem and said someone would be over after the 9am appointments. At approximately 11:30 am, your truck arrived with our new water heater. I was gone most of the time but my husband said the two servicemen were polite, professional and worked diligently. Both guys were great and cleaned up any mess that was created. They also explained the heater to us and even met our dogs! I just wanted to thank you for the timely and professional service you provided to us today. It's quite an inconvenience not to have hot water and just how lucky we are to have such amenities in general. We will be sure to call Doheny Plumbing again. read more

Just wanted to give a shout out to the owner of this company. I had an emergency leak and they sent a plumber out within 30 minutes. The guy they sent had all the parts needed to fix the problem and everything was fixed within 45 minutes. As I was pulling out my wallet the plumber told me the owner said not to charge me as a thank you for my military service. I am very grateful and will be using this service again. Absolutely horrible! The guys who came out were nice. The first 2 guys sent a camera thru our outdoor pipes and tried to clear the drain. They couldn't do it but still charged me almost $300. Said FOR SURE they could come back and clear it and it would be $799. My husband called and spoke to the owner, Jared and set it up and said they would send 2 "senior workers" who could take care of it. The guys came and were very nice. Couldn't clear the pipes as there are roots in the pipe. Which is what we were told the first time. They said it needs to be jackhammered and opened up to be taken care of. That would be at least $1400. Okay. But they still charged me $665 to come out today. I have paid almost $1000 and nothing has been fixed. I called and spoke to Jared and so did my husband. He said "that is business and nothing is guaranteed". Absolutely shady and dishonest business. I truly hope no one else will use them or give them business and pay for nothing. For sure go somewhere else!!!! And of course we are not having them do the jackhammering or anymore work for us. read more

Single mom on a budget here who tried the toilet herself. Went to Lowe's and bought an Auger and watched some YouTube videos. Didn't work. I called Doheny plumbing and she asked when was a good time. I explained I couldn't miss work and the gal on the phone said she wasn't sure the evening would even be possible but she would have someone call me back. The plumber called me back within a half hour. I explained my situation and he said he would come over that same day as soon as I got home. As promised, he showed up and almost immediately figured out what the issue was. He instructed me to never use the tablets I had been using to clean the toilet. They clogged the inside parts of my toilet. He tought me to use vinegar to keep the parts running smooth and showed me the areas that can get clogged and how to clean them. He knew it was just me and my two kids and he wanted to make sure we were helped soon. Like same day soon! His act of kindness absolutely made my week. He didn't have to take time out of his day to come help me last minute , but he did and I am super grateful. I would 100% recommend this company. Fast, knowledgeable and honest, you can't expect more. I had a clogged drain that caused a shower to backup and the toilet to flood the bathroom. After shutting off the water and cleaning up, we had to leave the house to get to a Childs birthday party, when I got home, I started calling plumbers, on an early Saturday evening. The few I could reach were tied up with jobs but Doheny had someone just finishing and he was right over. The plumber recognized that it had cleared, and then did some extra checking to make sure it was flowing freely throughout the system, inspected the cleanout, tried running lots of fixtures to make absolutely certain everything was working and then didn't charge me, since he only needed a few minutes to be certain everything was ok. Its refreshing these days to run into people and businesses that treat you honestly and with the highest integrity. I try to use local companies whenever I can. Recently I needed a plumber on two different occasions. While the plumbers who arrived were themselves prompt and courteous, I was dismayed to find out that the company does not stock their trucks with seemingly even the most basic repair parts such as valves for washing machines, inlet valves for toilets or drain hoses for dishwashers. If a part is needed, the plumber has to stop working and go get it all while the clock is ticking on your dime. Sorry but I won't be calling Doheny Plumbing again. read more

Hired Doheny to move some pipes. First off, Brian did an great job with the work, he's a great plumber and really knows his stuff. I rarely leave bad yelp reviews but in this case felt the need to do so. The problem I had was with the opaque billing and heavily inflated cost for parts. When the job was complete we were billed $500 for parts in addition to $1600 labor and nothing was itemized in the receipt. We did the math on the parts which in no way added up to $500. When we spoke with Steve to get a break down, we were very surprised at how high he was marking everything up. $20+ for a fitting (maybe $5 at Home Depot), $80 for 3/4" copper pipe (~$35 Home Depot) and the list went on. We did a few part runs for them to their supplier so we knew what they were paying for these things which is partly why we were so surprised. When we spoke to Steve about it he seemed upset and defensive that we'd bring it up said it was just part of the business (in addition to the $135-160 hourly rate). I have no problem paying the hourly, and a modest markup for parts - but 200% over retail (400% over his cost) seemed excessive. read more

We called three plumbers on the Saturday before Xmas to get a quote for six small jobs (slow drains, broken toilet, broken soap dispenser) we'd let pile up. Over the weekend, we got one quote for $500 and had not heard from another. Doheny called at 8:00 Monday morning and quoted $180-250. By 10:00 Monday morning the entire job was done and the bill was $200. We would highly recommend David and will use Doheny Plumbing again. read more
