My dog Banjo is a bullmastiff. He has gotten to stay here a few times in 2019. His most recent visit was during Christmas. I knew he was having fun but was bummed I couldn't see him. I remembered they told us at drop off to just IM through Facebook to check up on him. So I sent a message and within 5 minutes got a response! Shortly after I had pics to see him playing with the other doggies. So cool! I was impressed with the response time as I texted later in the day. And was happy to see he was doing well. We've been boarding our dog Tucker 2-3 times a year since they opened and have always been very pleased. The first time we took our dog he was nervous about being left with strangers, but he was happy and tired when we picked him up. Now he is excited when we drop him off and can't wait to get in to day care. He absolutely loves Suzie, and you can tell she genuinely loves dogs. Someone mentioned a "dog smell" in a review from 2011. I figured the smell was normal, but the staff must have noticed because the smell is gone, and I don't remember it being there in at least the past year. One slight downside is that their prices have increased, but pretty minimally ($20/day for boarding, used to be around $18). Our pup LOVES going to Dogtropolis. We go out of our way to go to the other side of town to take her here. She runs happily in every single time and comes home worn out from playing with the other dogs. She doesn't really require much grooming, but we always have her shampooed and get her nails trimmed on longer visits and they always have her cleaned up and ready to go when we get there. Never been disappointed with a trip here, and they treat her like family. They remember her every time she comes in! Only concern is that she's always VERY thirsty when we get back in the car, but we always keep a water bottle for her. Not sure how much water they're given during the day. read more

First I will say that I have 6 very small dogs and have used Dogtroplis several times over the past few years for our grooming needs. For the most part have been satisfied with their groomer Yvette's talent and feel Yvette has always been good and pleasant to work with. For that matter the entire staff has always been very friendly. On Wednesday September 23, 2015 I had 4 of my dogs groomed and 3 of them looked very nice. My male Maltese was not as good as had been previously. He had longer facial hair on the right side with a lot more bulk than the left; his ears were not blocked off as requested, his eyes were very uneven also. When I dropped my dogs off I asked the attendant to have Yvette call me and she did not call. Possibly did not get message? I called to speak with Susie the business owner and our conversation was not a pleasant one and by that I don't want any to think there was yelling etc. Susie was very even tempered and spoke politely but it was the way she handled my concern. She started by saying that I have complained every other time I had my dogs groomed which is not even close to an accurate statement although I do recall at least one occasion that I had a minor concern and was taken care of with no hassle at all. This time however, Susie to my surprise suggested that I may want to consider another groomer because Yvette has been grooming for thirty years and never gets complaints. Now if I was constantly complaining as previously stated, I would have stopped taking my dogs to her long ago. This is only common sense that you would not continue using their services if you were not happy or at least that's the way I do business. My surprise was that Susie did not ask to see the dog and when I offered to email her a photo she was not interested. I did tell her that as a business owner if I had a customer with a concern I would at the very least want to see what they were concerned about and attempt to resolve the issue. Susie was more eager to tell me about their reviews and rating on Angie's list than she was about resolving my issue. Susie did offer to refund my money and I explained that was not the purpose for my call and opted not to accept a refund (call me crazy) but again that was not why I called. I just wanted them to see my dog and fix it nothing more nothing less. Susie it's great to have good reviews and the rating on Angie's list but if you continue with your attitude with regards to customer care, Angie's list will not save your business. Losing just one customer for me in my business would not be acceptable. One customer at a time will add up quickly. I just wish you would have shown enough interest to have asked to see my dog so since you didn't I decided to post his pic for all to see and form their own opinion. You will also see on my FB page. Overall I believe you have a good business and pray that my recent experience was not the norm and for that reason I have decided to take your advice and do business elsewhere in the future. read more

We used them last October for a birthday party weekend at our house, having dogs gone seemed safer not having to worry about gates getting left open. Although my dogs were not mistreated I think they were ignored. We have a mini pin and a lab mix, the mini pin had lost weight clearly he had not been fed properly, he has never had any issue eating away from us before. But the bigger issue for me was the fact that we paid for our large 100 lb dog to be groomed before picking up we picked her up at 4 pm and she had not been brushed nor was she dry at all, and to top it off they charged this as a giant dog so we paid like $75 to bring a wet dog home that I then had to brush and comb out for a couple of hours to keep her fur from matting. I don't think they new how to handle a large dog. read more

We have a 1yr. old Boxweiler (Boxer/Rottweiler Mix) named "Karma" and it was our first time boarding her while we went on our yearly family camping trip. When we dropped her off the paperwork from the vet had all of her shots up to date except the Bordetella vaccine which we thought was part of the vet shot package and wasn't. The vet also didn't tell us that she didn't have it (or suggest it) as she is an indoor dog. I was told most vets won't unless you ask for it. DogTropolis let me go buy the vaccine at Rule King ($7) and they gave it to her for me so I could leave her in their care. Anyway long story short she came back well groomed, and cared for. She was also much more calm, and some of that "puppy" jumping around energy was more calmed down as well. She also listened better to her training commands. We were very impressed with the staff, and the care she received that we will be taking her back there in future, and for nail/grooming care. Thanks DogTropolis!! I never give reviews, but I'm only doing this to protect the dogs. I had several problems at the kennel. I really wanted to support this place because it's a small company, husband and wife owned, and the prices are reasonable. I talked with owner after my experience to tell her I would not be bringing my dog back and she seemed very apologetic. I don't think the problem is with the owners, the problem is with the staff. When we checked my dog in the girl at the front desk had no idea what was going on. I was nervous about leaving my dog in her hands, as she did not seem confident in what she was doing. When I came back a day later I could hear the groomer in the back of the kennel screaming and cursing at the dogs. That is not an effective way to treat the dogs. It makes me wonder how my dog was treated when she was there. When they finally brought my dog out, the woman didn't know that I had brought in a leash. They seemed very disorganized, and I had no faith they properly took care of my dog. The girl told me my dog played great with all the other dogs. But I know that my dog is very aggressive toward other dominant dogs, which leads me to believe she was not taken out of her cage, and I was lied to. As soon as we walked out the doors, my dog pooped and peed on the sidewalk, as if she couldn't hold it any longer. I wondered if they had let her out of her cage at all. And, the worst offense of all: My dog was there for 24 hours and when I brought her home her bag of food had not even been opened--which means she WAS NOT FED for the 24 hours that she was there. She was so neglected that they didn't even FEED HER. As soon as we got home she unusually drank her entire bowl of water, which makes me wonder if they even gave her water. THIS IS ANIMAL ABUSE. read more

After taking my dog here for several years and never having a problem with management or staff I went to drop my dog off a few weeks ago and noticed an extremely foul cat urine odor as soon as I walked in the door. That made me upset. Then the staff proceeded to try and tell me of all the additional charges, that I never paid before. That did not help my mood. When I picked up my dog I was met by the owner Susie, which I've never had a problem with. She basically couldn't believe my behavior towards her staff. Not one time asking exactly what happened ed because she new it all by the recorded exchanged she always records. I called last week to schedule my dog and was told they are not to take reservations from me. I asked to have Susie contact me to explain why she also cancelled my several month old reservation coming up in September. I never received a call back! Extremely terrible way to treat a customer even if she didn't agree with my interaction with her staff or not. I have found a WAY better establishment and happy this happened! It doesn't smell like cat piss as soon as you walk in the door, it's much bigger and my dog don't have to pee and poo in a tiny concrete patio!!!!!!! I will NOT recommend this poorly ran business to anyone! Good riddance! read more

Just wasn't comfortable with this one. My main issue with the place was that the crates and play areas were in the same room so there was always a lot of noise. Also they were wire crates and not truly divided pins. Although the smaller crates had some sort of divider I was worried that they were to close together. Also the dogs in the play area were not constantly supervised. Things can happen so quickly even with normally good dogs that I always want mine supervised. While the owner has good intentions and clearly likes dogs I couldn't leave mine here comfortably. read more

We have been boarding our two fifty pound dogs at DOGtropolis for about two years. Our family lives in CA and so we have to board the dogs about four times a year for a week to two weeks at a time. The staff is always very good with the dogs and helps me get them in the shop when I get there and out to the car when we leave. They have their own kennel at night and get to play with all the other dogs during the day. We tried 2 other dog boarding facilities before DOGtropolis and when we would pick up the doggies they would always be depressed and sometimes wouldn't eat for a week, but after we pick them up from DOGtropolis they are happy and tired a great combination for when you get home from a long trip. This is a great family run facility and I plan to take my dogs there for as long as we live in Indiana. read more

They did a good job on my two cocker spaniels. I will say that their previous groomer always complimented about how well behaved they are (low being blow dryer! Lol) so I can't speak to how they would groom a difficult animal. The place does have an odor, but seems clean besides that. read more

NOT HAPPY AT ALL! To much to complain about!! First they told me to drop off by 830 & my dog would be done being groomed by 1030 or 11 at the latest..I called at 1045 NO ANSWER I called at 11 NO ANSWER i called at 1145 NO ANSWER called at 1230 NO ANSWER remembered they were closed 12-2 now pretty up set...left message at 2:00 I was on my way and girl called and said not ready yet?! I was pretty mad she pretended she didnt remember telling me about 1030 11 he would be ready. THEN I went at 2:30 to get him (door was locked) had to knock my dog was still being groomed SHAKING ALL OVER-he had been groomed before and didnt mind it at all just afraid of other dogs. When I got him in my arms he was practically climbing over me to get out the door. (NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE at other groomers) THENshe told me my dog tried to bite her~! OMG pretty upset to hear that-to me that means they were hurting him- he has NEVER even snipped at anyone before EVER...when he came home he hacked all evening long so I think they choked him with there grooming collar - HE FINALLY stopped shaking all over about 10pm...he still is wincing about his lower area (i think cut tooo short ) but causing him alot of pain and its 3 days after...WILL NEVER GO BACK-dogs roaming everywhere behind closed door NO MATTER WHAT SIZE DOG (when I went you could see back area when I picked up curtain closed it all off!! ..only 1 GIRL there when I dropped him off and only 2 when I picked up (mother & daughter team NOT GOOD!) I had an uneasy feeling when I dropped him off and I wish I would of just left and listened to my instinct!! IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG-I WOULDNT GO HERE!!!! read more
