This is my go-to store, locally, for some of the creatures in my freshwater aquariums. Mostly common schooling type fish and algae eaters. Their prices are about the same as my favorite specialty shop, they're just closer. As far as all the other big box pet stores in the area, this one appears to maintain the best quality aquariums. I see tanks shut down at their competitor frequently, but have never seen that here. They seem to staff employees that are knowledgeable and into the hobby themselves. They're nice to chat with while they try to capture my little creatures. It's really the employees and tank quality that leads me to give 5 stars. I would agree with others that their pricing is high on a lot of things, as is Pet Smart. However, what keeps me going to Pet Smart for all my other pet needs is that they give you cash back rewards. What I spend on my special needs animals food and treats alone earns me nearly $10 a month in rewards. If Petco would give the same type of cash back rewards, I would shop them more often. This Petco location also does not stock prescription pet foods. read more

I'm very displeased with this visit. I asked for a fluffy teddy bear look (3/8 3F) she did not do that (he got 7F) then she didn't trim his nails. The more I look I saw she had nicked my dog over ten times. He has scabs in places he could never reach. Then when I called Petco they blamed him for it. Then implied that he had to be playing with another dog to get the nicks on his body. Even though we have no other dogs. The GM Destiny was rude and said that they did nothing wrong. I will never bring my dog here again. I don't suggest you bring your dog here either. To have groomer you call a professional nicking dog repeatedly is very unprofessional. I would have been more understanding if she was in training. But to blame the owners for your mistakes and not even offer an apology for it is deplorable. They said this is his first grooming I told her by them yes but first grooming no he has been groomed before. My dog doesn't have a voice like a human and they thought they would get away with that malpractice. My mother and I knew we would bring him back the hair cut was not don't correctly. Paws not done, hair cut uneven and can see the obviously see the indents from the bare shears on him. I really don't appreciate the GM making false implications about my family and I on the phone and just not taking responsibility for her groomer that still needs training. P.S. it's honestly sad we used to come here with our previous dog all the time. His old groomer doesn't work there. I honestly should have turned around right then and there. The GM implied my dead dog was playing with my current dog. He died 3 years ago. We even informed them of that (3years ago) and she throw that in my face. A heartless and harmful environment will never get my money again. read more

Walked up to check out after getting our dog groomed. Had a coupon that didn't work but they couldn't tell me why. The cashier was annoyed the moment I walked up and was saying to the rest of the employees that she needed to go. Another woman who I guess was a manager came and checked the coupon, clicked on the terms and conditions and still couldn't explain why I couldn't use it just that I couldn't. The original cashier was extremely annoyed at this point so I said something. The cashier was rude with everything she said. The manager in her little sing song voice said "were just trying to get you out of here in a timely manner". Ridiculously rude! read more

Petco is a little expensive on their food for pets and their toys. The best deal is the cat litter and this is why I go about once a month. Get a 30 pound of cat litter and get it refilled for only $11. They do have adoption and grooming which is very nice read more

I visited yesterday on Black Friday. The sales were good- I purchased some items for my dog for Christmas. When you walk in the door there is a strong "animal" smell. This is the only corporation pet store I ever experienced this in. The floors were dirty and boxes were thrown everywhere It didn't stop me from continuing my shopping. When I got to the register a young guy was my cashier. He was very irritated he had to do his job. I thought- maybe he's tired it is Black Friday after all. Until he started chitchatting with someone that appeared to be a friend hanging out in the store. I had to wait to finish my payment until their conversation was over. Not the end of the world- but my experience could have been better. read more

I've been using this Petco for YEARS and was so disappointed when I visited today. Multiple employees were unmasked, gathering together at the registers, wearing masks down on their chins instead of over their mouths at all. There was no enforcement of capacity, distancing, or mask-wearing at all. I called Petco customer service and was brushed off completely as well. As someone who's had multiple people close to me who are essential workers fall sick of COVID-19, I can't stand this blatant disregard for the state's minimal public health orders. UPDATE: Their saltwater care has severely improved since my last review. It is still a pretty small selection, but their tanks are so much better taken care of than before. I have also started a freshwater tank and have been in here a couple times for help. Every worker has been very nice and done their best to help. read more

THESE POOR KITTENS!!! They clearly have an upper respiratory infection that looks to be untreated. This is just 1 of their 6 or 7 cats that i saw today but they all look like this. Open mouth breathing, boogers on the glass and in their eyes. I work at shelter myself and even with 3 kittens to a kennel, they're never this dirty. read more

I came by this place at 9:00 and the doors was locked. I saw an employee but she ducked in between aisles. Okayyyy so I went to petsmart which is thankfully is right across the street. We had the worst experience ever at this Petco and will never go back. We arrived there a couple of minutes before 6:30 to purchase a fish. The girl working was helping a customer right next to me. I asked her about one. She snapped that they stopped selling 30 minutes before close, again, I was right there before cut off. She then walked off and cut the lights off. My husband had a large amount of supplies for our aquarium and ended up setting them down. We will never shop here again! We'll stick with Petsmart. Prices here can be a little more than you'd pay elsewhere, but you can also get some really great deals. Check out the treats in the front of the store that are by the pound, you can get a bit more bang for your buck there with some good quality treats. Overall the selection is really great throughout the store. We use the groomer here for nail trims almost exclusively, they always do a really great job for a reasonable price and get her in and out pretty quickly without an appointment. Customer service can be a little hit or miss - largely we have really great experiences, but every once in a while you get the worker who couldn't care less at the checkout line. read more

Being a young adult now and having to buy my own pet food and supplies, Petco helped me realize the options out their for my pets. Granted, I did all the research, but shopping from home on their website helped me narrow down my choices. If you're animal doesn't like the food you choose, they have a donation box where you can put your open bag of food in, and they let you get a new bag. With in store pickup and their rewards program, it was even easier to make up my mind to start shopping at Petco. The rewards are a lot easier to add up than other pet stores, and you can get discounts on instore pickup. They have more natural options for my cats with less preservatives and add-ins; not only food but the cat litter as well. To lead into a change, there's two different ways this review really could go: What you have already read about Petco, and what I wish they could have that other pet stores already have. I still shop at Petco, but not for cat food. They don't have their own brand of cat food, which makes buying healthy conscious brands a bit more pricey. The brand I use to buy was always in stock, but not in every size. Regardless of me switching food brands, they had the brand I bought on sale just about every other week (which is when my cat food would run out. 9 out of 10 times I got it on sale) They don't have as many options for cat bowls, toys, collars, etc. However, I bought a cat tower on a holiday weekend and ended up saving 40%.... which is a lot!! Overall, there isn't anything wrong with Petco! They're still more conscious of healthy choices compared to their competitors. Their fish section is so grand it has me wanting to get a fish and decorate a tank every time I go in. The reptile section is pretty bare in my opinion when I go in. It's not dirty or smelly (which can be a give and take because there are animals available for adoption so it depends on what day you go in). Oh and! If you like themed toys and supplies, they always have something interesting that you wouldn't find at any other pet store chains; Hello Kitty, Star Wars, Dr. Seuss, etc. read more

LOVE this store! It's always super clean. They always have a great selection to chose from. I really like their grooming salon. My dog goes there every 6 weeks except now they aren't taking apts with covid-19. They did an excellent job. It was a little pricey 40-45, but they did a fabulous job! I have never had an issue. She looks like a show dog when she is done. They are so nice and usually it takes 2-3 hours sometimes a hour!! read more

Great selection of pet clothes out of all the pet stores I have been too including Target, Walmart, and Petsmart. We adopted our second pet from their adoption days in coalition with the Southside Humane Society about 2 years back and I have been very impressed. This place SMELLS. I realize it's a pet store, but I have been to numerous pet stores and not experienced this stench. Pet stores are always much more expensive than Target or Walmat, and I don't need anything fancy, so I prefer to buy my cat food from a store I am already at instead of making an extra trip. When I do need special items, I prefer to go to Petsmart, it is cleaner and nicer. One nice thing I do have to say is they allow a cat rescue shelter to keep cages of cats in their store. This really helps the cats find homes and get adopted! read more

The employees are friendly and helpful when I can't find what I'm looking for. I come here to buy specialty dog food for one of our poopers. Almost $20 less than if I were to buy from my vet. It blows that it is in a strip mall that is slowly dying. It's a far drive from downtown, but it's slightly easier to get to than other Petco stores. One thing I wold recommend: do it yourself dog baths. Then I wouldn't have to have another pet store in my repertoire. read more

Overall it is a pet store, so there are bound to be moments of smelly air. I've always liked Petco over others because of the service and their rewards program is better than some others out there. This location though, doesn't always have the best staff. The selection and prices are good, but when you get to the check out, it goes downhill. The last couple times I have been there, the check out process has been incredibly slow. One register open with 5 people in line is too common here. And once you get to the register you're lucky to get a smile that isn't forced. Service in other departments aren't any better, and I've heard people call for help more than once before someone finally decided to actually help them. read more

I've been shopping here for a little over 3 years. They've really expanded their natural pet food offerings. I've noticed a lot more natural dog treat offerings lately too. The fish department is great. They have some the largest cichlid selection I've seen in a chain store too. They only have fresh water fish, but that's pretty common for chains. There's always someone cleaning or scrubbing tanks, and they're pretty knowledgeable. I think that shows they care. They won't make stuff up just to get a sale. The prices are a little higher than other chains, but the rewards program more than makes up for it. You get 5% back on all purchases. Not too bad. read more

I love PETCO. especially this location. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, especially Brittany and Joyce. They always make you feel welcome and you leave knowing more than you came in. They suggest the right products for your pet and don't push products. Great selection of toys, collars and leashes as well. The only negative thing I have to say about this store is that there is an older lady who volunteers there (I think she works/volunteers for a food co. and pushes products) I don't think there's anything wrong with suggesting your co's products but she even had the nerve to say maybe I was buying a ball that was too small for my dog. FYI he loves and plays with that ball everyday so I will never take advice from you ever. Maybe you need to retire. But all in all this is a good location. I live closer to the speedway petco since I moved but travel the extra miles to go to a store that knows me and treats my dog right. He's always excited when I tell him we're going bye bye to petco. I'm getting him groomed Sunday so hopefully we'll have a good experience. read more
