I have a 90 lb bernedoodle, who I have to admit, was pretty well behaved from the day I got him. He learned sit and shake quickly and didn't bark too much. But I have severe anxiety and it only got worse during/after the pandemic. I needed Ollie to be more well behaved than he already was so I could bring him with me to work and other public areas. And he wasn't responding to my attempt at training. On a whim, I reached out to DTE Austin to see what it would take to get my dog certified as a service animal and if it was even possible since he wasn't a puppy anymore. Jenny called me within 24 hours (probably sooner) and we chatted about my needs, expectations, Ollie, and next steps. We set up a free consultation for that week and I was sold. She was so observant and thoughtful in that first meeting and Ollie responded to her instruction immediately.
Fast forward a few months -- Ollie has graduated from obedience training, public access training, group class, and passed his public access test to be an official service dog! His behavior and confidence has improved so much. I've recommended Jenny and Donny at DTE Austin to everyone I know who has a dog!
I am also getting married in March and Jenny is helping me incorporate Ollie into the ceremony. I encourage anyone with a dog (even if s/he is very well behaved) to reach out to DTE and improve your pup's behavior and temperament even more! Group classes are also so fun and a great way for Ollie to socialize with other dogs, get exercise, and keep his brain stimulated with little "challenges." read more
