If you want a good zongzi in south Philly, you can grab one here. It's warm, good amount of red beans, peanuts, and pork belly. If you want the buns, the recommend coming here in the morning because at the end of the day they are drier. Three percent fee if you pay with card

I would say you have to definitely go early we went at almost 5pm on a Saturday and they were out of almost everything I wanted to try. I asked them and they said to come early. We did try a few things, the butter bread was good, a mango tiramisu cup was delicious! I got the red bean and mung bean pastry cakes for my niece and she liked them. I tried the lotus and taro little pastries as well and I wasn't a fan. I will try to come back early to try all their wonderful breads! Friendly staff

What a cute find. Lovely little bakery with tons of traditional Asian options (buns, custards, etc.). Mix of savory and sweet. We ended up getting a LOT of things as we had so much trouble deciding between everything and everything was so cheap! Some were better than others but definitely glad we got a nice array. They also sell bubble tea but we opted to skip this this time.

They have an amazingly large menu for such a small low key place. One of my favorite bakeries in Philly!

I stopped by the other day because the sign was too cute to pass by plus an Asian bakery on Oregon avenue in Philly ! Yes lemme see what they got! It's small but cute inside. Coffee was good. The two women behind counter were nice and u formative and helpful. If you want to try something new and different go here and give it a try. They have some unique stuff to try. I will definitely Turku try again when I'm in Philly.

Love that there is an Asian bakery in South Philly! Everything made fresh and usually sold out by the end of the day! They are currently selling mooncakes for the Mid Autumn season. My favorite is the BBQ pork bun, the Chinese tamales (joong in Cantonese), egg tarts, the red bean cakes, almond cookies, and lychee smoothie. The staff there are so friendly. Saves me a trip to Chinatown as well

It was pretty full when I got there because school just ended, but I got a matcha latte with aloe (it was a last min. topic decision because they ran out of tapioca pearls that day) and my friend got a strawberry milk tea. Both were great, and the server genuinely seemed like a nice guy. We also got a pineapple bun and butter cookies (they were kinda pricey) and they were rlly good! I'll definitely come again to try a few more of their drink options.

Came here to pick up a bag of breads and pastries last weekend. Store was pretty empty by the time I came (around 5:30) so come early! I got - 4 pandan egg tarts - 1 ham and egg bun - 1 snow mountain bun - 1 butter and sugar bun Unfortunately, the ham and egg bun was moldy so I can't comment on the taste. The other two buns were pretty dry and flavorless. The butter and sugar bun had a super light sugar glaze and I think butter slivers inside and the snow mountain bun had a slight sugary crust on top. Both bread portions were very dry. The egg tarts were okay but the custard part was more jello like in consistency and more sugary than I was used to. The crust was also not flaky pastry crust but a cookie crust (just as a headsup!) service was super friendly, but would probably go back to the Asian bakeries in Chinatown instead.

It was more of a croissant than the buttery pastry I associate kouign amanns with -Orange cardamom morning bun: My favorite of the pastries! Light, airy, and just the right touch of sweetness -Rhubarb danish: Very unique but not for me. The rhubarb was very tangy and a bit tough to chew. The texture was an interesting contrast to the flakiness of the rest of the pastry and the smoothness of the cream Unfortunately, I set my expectations a bit too high and the items I tried unfortunately fell short. The sausage and gravy bun was really good & super tasty but it felt like it was missing something. I think adding onions could take it to the next level. While it was enjoyable, it did start to feel a bit flat as we kept eating. Now, the cinnamon rolls were a different story! easily some of the best we've had. We popped them in the microwave for about 15 seconds, and they came out warm, soft, and absolutely delicious. Every bite was perfect. Sadly, the little outpost at the corner of Ninth and Catharine is closing. Today was the first of the last 3 days it's open. You may wonder why I'm writing such a long- detailed review on a shop that's closing - it's a tribute. I wish I could have visited it often - but while its history may have been short - my review will last 'forever'. I was standing in front of Pop's this morning just before 8 - it was opening at 9 and was expected to sell out within an hour or two. I was the first in line - there were about 20 people in line by 8:30 and double that number when it opened at 9. It was my first - and unfortunately - would be my last visit to the iconic bakery. It was early, I hadn't had breakfast so I got the Egg, Cheese and Tomato Chutney Bun. It was excellent! The bun was soft, light and had a perfect texture - a very fluffy egg, with cheese and a savory tomato chutney, made the sandwich so delicious! Next up, the Raspberry Kolache. While I was waiting for the bakery to open, I looked up 'kolache' online, as I'd not heard of it. It said 'soft, egg-y, buttery brioche roll, with a fruit filling on top'. Pop's Kolache was exactly that - the roll/bun had the same 'underpinnings' as the Egg Bun I'd just had. It was lightly sprinkled with sugar and had a luscious raspberry filling in the center that I made sure was included in every bite! What a great pastry whose origins are from the Czech Republic. You could say, 'I'm on a roll'! Next up, the Cinnamon Rolls! My pet peeve with cinnamon rolls is icing. I like icing, just not a lot of it. I may be in the minority here, but I don't like heavy, two to three inch layering of icing on a roll. These cinnamon rolls had the perfect amount of icing to roll 'ratio'. The rolls had the same fluffy brioche texture with swirls of cinnamon throughout. The buttery icing just enveloped the roll and I closed my eyes to truly savor the taste! Great Cinnamon Rolls! Last, but most definitely not least, the Sticky Buns!! If you've read any of my bakery reviews, sticky buns are near and dear to my heart. Not sure why, they just are. I quickly fell in love with Pop's Sticky Buns with Pecans - the brioche like bun, as with the other pastries, set the stage. See the attached picture - it's topped with a plethora of large, deliciously crunchy pecans in a deep caramel glaze. The cinnamon glaze was swirled throughout the bun - it undoubtedly will be a very memorable pastry on my list of sticky buns. It was certainly a special day - while I will, as will many others, miss this wonderful bakery, let's hope the Blisards continue providing their amazing baked goods to Philadelphians in the not to distant future!

I ended up getting the Playoff Party flavor, which I believe is only offered when one of the Philly teams is in the playoffs, and it was basically an Oreo ice cream lover's dream. The Earl Grey Honeycomb was also SO good. You could actually taste the Earl Grey tea flavor clearly, and the honeycomb balanced it perfectly without overpowering it. One thing I really liked about their ice cream in general was the texture because it had that perfect consistency where it's firm and dense but still soft. It's definitely on the pricier side though. Our total came out to around $15-16 for two single scoops, with one being in a waffle cone. I also wanted a waffle cone on the side, so they gave my single scoop in a larger bowl instead which I thought was really considerate. However, the waffle cone is on the thicker side so it's not as crispy. That said, for the price you are getting noticeably larger scoops, so honestly I still think it's very worth it. Would definitely come back to try more flavors.

The flavor combos - tahini fudge swirl, pistachio, lemon curd with blueberry basil swirl - sounded great. Unfortunately, the excitement for me was in name only. The tahini fudge was very toasty, but the fudge didn't hold up; pistachio had crunch but lacked the nut's flavor; the lemon curd wasn't tart enough for me, nor did I get much flavor from the blueberries. If you like a less creamy ice cream you'll like the texture. I'll try a vegan option the next time.

They have a sign saying everyone has to get a ticket number. It gets confusing when previous people didn't take or we're going out of order because some of us are still deciding or some people are picking up orders instead of buying on the spot. I think it's an Italian bakery thing to sell baked goods by the pound. I don't like how their menu is posted way far back on the wall behind the counter. If I didn't look online beforehand, I wouldn't have an idea of what to do. Well we still didn't. Since we wanted to get a cannoli and some cookies, we asked the staff whether we need to buy a whole pound/box. He said we don't if we just want a few. He didn't say and we didn't ask how exactly we'll be charged. We ended up getting four cookies: pignoli, almond macaron, old fashion italian, chocolate drop For the cannoli, the menu shows different options but I didn't get questions when I just asked for "a cannoli" which is a good thing. We ended up getting the original one with ricotta. We got charged $6 in total for all the items. Honestly we still don't know how their math works because the transaction was rung up as "cannoli $6". They have a surcharge if you pay by card. We paid in cash and it felt fine with the nice round numbers. Also it seemed quite common for people to pay cash at this spot. The cannoli was pretty good. They pipe it fresh on the spot, and you can taste the difference with a crunchy shell. I'm not sure what's authentic in terms of shell thickness and texture, but I personally would like a thinner shell. The filling wasn't too sweet even after the powdered sugar. The cookies were more fun to browse than to eat. All of them were too sweet and had extracts that I didn't like. If I picked my favorite, pignoli and almond macaron are close. Pignoli is sweeter but has nice texture with the pine nuts on the outside. Almond macaroon is strong in almond extract but less sweet and has a slight chew to it.
