    Focaccia sandwich donut sandwich
    Cheri S.

I woke up super early expecting for such a large crowd. Instead I was met with a very mellow group of 3-4 people lining up to get their hands on this sandwich! Once I got to the front I ordered way too many things but this review is strictly reflective of the Sandwich. The focaccia is impeccable, it's also so big I was able to share it with 2 other people! The donut version is so interesting and it combines sweet and savory beautifully. Overall I would reccomend everyone try it at least once! If you're not a fan of sharp cheddar it has a very strong flavor and if you don't eat meat get it with no bacon! Such a fun sandwich.

Second Daughter is on the 4th floor of the Bok building and helpful signs guide you to their unassuming space. There's a small amount of seating while you wait to order at a window. I ordered 4 items, 2 sweet and 2 savory. I haven't tried the savory yet but the two sweet items, both fruit centered were delicious. And I mean that. Very, very good. That being said, it's pricey. I'm not saying it's not worth it or they don't deserve just know that the usual $7-8 you might pay for pastry is going to be $10-$12 here. Parking is a luck of the draw so keep that in mind.

Second Daughter Baking never disappoints! My birthday was yesterday. I had a yummy sans rival cake but still longed for something chocolate. I walked over to my absolute favorite bakery to get a cookie or brownie to have with lunch later today. I couldn't resist the walnut brownie, topped generously with nuts. The baker-owner and workers are always so pleasant. After patiently listening to my rant about the bakery downstairs, the person at the counter asked, "Do you want center, edge, or corner? When she handed me my corner piece in an environmentally conscious sleeve my heart melted; the brownie was still warm. I had dessert for breakfast!

Lovely lady behind the counter, very soft spoken and friendly. Their shop is very peaceful and they have a dispenser with still and sparkling water. There is limited seating but the Bok building is so big, you can probably eat while walking around. I was in a mood for savory and got the only savory option that they had that day. The mushroom pastry was very delicate and flaky - and fragrant. Definitely a good brunch option. I will definitely be back for the sweeter offerings - which they have many variations of.

Super cute hidden in a corner on the 4th floor! Little pricey but worth the treat yourself day!

A gigantic brown butter dark chocolate chip cookie!! I usually don't go for super thin cookies but this one was soo good! It had the chewy texture that I like with a bit of crisp on the edges..plus the pools of dark chocolate and the sprinkle of sea salt... I stumbled across this gem at the Rittenhouse farmers market on Tuesday! The people were so nice and they could tell I was eyeing the cookie haha.

I rate this place 10 out of 10! This is absolutely delicious- the Nutella brownie pie is absolutely amazing. I really want something savory and they do have other things that are savory, but I don't like mushrooms. I just felt that it was challenging getting into the building because it was locked. But luckily someone let us in and it was such a treat walking through the building and seeing what other businesses have to offer Support black owned businesses!

Might be the best chocolate chip cookie in Philadelphia! It was AMAZING. Also, the girls were very nice! Reminder- it's only open for walk-ins Friday-Sunday. Also, it's on the 4th floor of the Bok building. Just follow the amazing smells

The line was about 45 minutes on a Saturday morning but it was worth the wait. The pie and cookies I ordered were absolutely delicious.

Green Tea: A typical American green tea flavor, which I think is similar to a cheap matcha flavor. At least for Chinese tastes, its biggest advantage is that it's not too sweet, and the flavor is relatively mild and fragrant. Especially when the shopkeeper seemed to be scooping ice cream away like it was free, I was even more glad I chose this flavor... Sea Salt Caramel: The flavor recommended by the staff. Objectively speaking, it was indeed good, with a distinct caramel aroma, but for me, who had already eaten ice cream that day, it was still too sweet. Coconut: Less sweet than Sea Salt Caramel, but also less milky. Relatively refreshing, but still quite sweet. The server offered samples warmly, which is definitely a plus.

From the moment you step inside, the specialty shakes and sundaes start calling your name. Everything on the menu sounds over-the-top in the best way possible. We landed on an apple pie shake, a peanut butter shake (PB ice cream, PB sauce, and fudgy brownie chunks), and the Lightning Rod sundae. Each treat was clearly crafted with care. You can tell time and quality go into every detail. I loved that they actually warmed the apple pie and the brownie chunks before blending them in. That extra touch elevated everything. The textures, the flavor balance, it wasn't just thrown together; it was thoughtfully built. Now let's be real: it's pricey. Three treats ran us about $50. But they're generous, rich, and indulgent. I was absolutely stuffed, fully sugared up and ready to power my way up the Rocky Steps afterward. The nostalgic charm is half the fun. From the old-fashioned decor to serving ice cream in those classic Chinese takeout-style containers, the whole place feels like stepping back in time. It adds to the experience in a big way. I personally appreciated that the sundae wasn't drowning in sauce -- it let the ice cream shine. That said, the PB shake was my clear favorite (even if I went way overboard on the brownie chunks). Bottom line: I highly recommend it. Just consider sharing to cut down on the cost and maybe to avoid the inevitable sugar crash. Totally worth it for the experience. Bonus Tip: Bring a receipt to Shane's Confectionary and get a 5% discount on your order (or vice versa).

We ordered the crispy cheese curds (Wisconsin cheddar, smoked guajillo salsa, and charred scallion ranch). These were a unique take on the classic and I was here for it, definitely try these! I then had the wedge salad (blue cheese, nueske's bacon, cherry tomatoes, radish, pepitas, crispy onions, and thai basil goddess). There were no tomatoes on ours, and so we were given sliced avocado instead. This was an interesting attempt but not my favorite take on this dish, I probably would not get this again. However, the shrimp po boy buns came through to round off this meal! (crispy shrimp, smoky aioli, house made choppy chop, dill on two buttered potato rolls.) These were fantastic and absolutely fire. NOTE they are tiny, almost appetizer sized, which didnt bother me because after the salad and cheese curds I was feeling full already but I would go back and get two orders just for myself they were that good. All in all a great place, I recommend!
