Loved Docs! We tried a platter with grilled shrimp and fried clams with a baked potato. We had a fish sandwich with coleslaw. All was so tasty! The hush puppies were yummy. Canal location - I am a longtime customer - 1st as a longtime vacationer then in 2014, I moved to OB. They advertise the best shrimp in the civilized world but personally I go because I can get those amazing onion rings before my meal. The last 2 times I've been, the onion rings have had a thicker batter than they have ever had before and they are not any good. I waited until getting them a 2nd time last night before reviewing just incase there was a substitute cook. I was so disappointed but only because of my onion rings. The meal was great as usual. I'm so glad they have offered the winter special as after the prices went up after covid and they did away with the lil'un platter, I have only been able to go occasionally as a retired person. We really enjoyed our meal at Doc's but especially our waitress, Kellie! She was outstanding and made our visit memorable! We will be back for the great food, but we sure hope Kellie is working that day, we will ask for her! Please order the fried shrimp, they make a bold claim but they back it up! Great steaks. My wife's filet was the most tender I've ever had. My ribeye was cooked perfectly. Before Dinner we played ring toss connect four and corn hole outside. Our server Cheslee took great of us, and the manger Will even came by to check on us. They heard it was our anniversary and even prepared a special appetizer for us. read more

Stopped by last Sunday because Sea N Suds was closed for whatever reason, big disappointment. The restaurant itself was new, nice and clean. Our waiter was exceptionally nice and friendly. Thats where all the good ends. Menu was typical for touristy seafood. Mostly fried items. The prices were silly high for run of the mill fare. We decided to go easy for lunch since we were here and out of options. Each got a bushwacker, cup of gumbo and split 1/2 doz raw oysters. Bushwacker had ZERO alcohol in it, beware of their drinks here. Gumbo was average and oysters were small. This all tallied to $67 before tip! Not a fan! Other reviewers seem to enjoy it and didn't mind high price for small amount of food. I will be skipping this one from now on. read more

Came at 5pm since it was super busy every time we drove by later. Sat at the bar. Derick and Drew were great-super friendly and attentive. My husband had a steak and I had shrimp 3 ways. This restaurant looks like a chain restaurant from the road. I've actually passed it up a few times thinking it was a knock off of the back bay Docs. Was in the mood for a steak and this consistently ranked in the top 4-5 in the area. Steak was as advertised. Tender. Delicious. Full of flavor and perfect marbling. Sides were delicious. I had to order a half dozen fried shrimp to test the banner of "worlds best". I have to say, in my little world it reigns supreme as well. Enjoyed every bite of my dinner. Wonderful service. Save your $. Overpriced for quality and freshness of food. Everything fried was over breaded and greasy. The raw oysters came out after our dinner entrees and were warm, clearly not fresh and made us sick within a few hours. The oysters are also not dressed and you have to make your own cocktail sauce with the warm ketchup and warm Worcestershire on the table and a bit of horseradish they provide. I've had better crab cakes from the freezer of our grocery store. The gumbo was also bland and the service was poor. Well they claim to have the best fried shrimp in the civilized world. That claim may be a little bold but I can say that they were the best shrimp I've ever eaten. Hand breaded not frozen and PERFECTLY cooked which is a rare feat at a restaurant. The platter comes with an insane amount of fries and some outstanding hush puppies. I wish I knew their slaw recipe. My wife had the crab cakes and you could taste the freshness of the crab. They even had a set up for you to make your own cocktail sauce. My only complaint would be to get the draft beer and glasses a little colder but it was busy so that may be the issue. Not enough to keep me from giving 5 stars and coming back again. read more

Terribly expensive for low quality food. We got a seafood platter and a chicken sandwich, the sandwich was small, tough, and flat. The platter was smaller than expected, the stuffed crab had imitation crab! So wrong especially for it being $35! The fish was even tough and I've never had tough fish. We were so blessed to go to Doc's for dinner. With severe allergies in our family - they were able to accommodate this. Perfectly! We partnered with the manager Tylor to start and he set the stage from start to finish. My experience here was just awful. I am not sure what these folks are thinking but I really would be surprised if they are there when we return next year. Let's start from the very beginning. Our Hostess was kind enough and promptly sat us at our table. Within a few minutes we were greeted by our waitress. I will not use her name but it is safe to say she was on some heavyweight medication. She had difficulty placing our order. We were a party of two and stopped for a quick lunch. It literally took ten minutes to send a hamburger, cup of gumbo, half a pound of shrimp, and 2 sodas through her hand held. She asked me three times if I wanted cheese to which I answered yes 3 times. Now, I wish I could say that's where the bad part stops. The food was absolutely disgusting. I believe my burger patty was a frozen precooked patty or one from the day before. The fries were definitely refried when I ordered them because they were chewy and inedible. My partners shrimp was served with a congealed fake butter sauce of unknown origin. We would have sent it back but our server never returned until she picked up the plates. By this time we just wanted out. We asked for the check as well as the woman next to us. She was by herself. Our server confused the checks between the two of us and had to ask what we ordered once again. If this place wants to be a steakhouse, it's got a long road ahead. However, our server knew nothing about the menu when we asked questions about the featured meals and lunch specials. The server took our orders wrong. When the food arrived it was cold and the fried fish we ordered was like rubber. We ordered a burger and it was a pre frozen patty that wasn't seasoned. I was going to give 3 stars but gave 4 because they are dog friendly. To give the bottom line up front, this is an average place with average food and below average service. We brought our small dog and they welcomed him as an extra member in the party. We went on a Monday but yet the wait was still 40 minutes so you really need to arrive early. Next there is limited parking. We drove around for 5 minutes waiting for someone to leave. We ordered our food right away and our salads came immediately but we waited another 20 minutes for our appetizer. Our waitress never even came back to check on us during that time. When I finally saw her and got her attention I asked about the appetizer and she acted like she had no idea. Then a couple of minutes later she comes out with our appetizer but no small plates to split the dish. After 45 minutes our food finally comes out. The shrimp was very tasty but just a tad over done. I also got the 14oz ribeye and it was cooked to my order but the cut seemed to be less than quality such as one of those bulk order meats from a chain restaurant. It had a lot of gristle and just not what I expected from the previous reviews and advertisements. Then after our food was delivered our waitress checked on us and said she would be right back to check if the steak was done correctly but sadly we never saw her again until about 10 minutes after we finished our food and asked for the check. From our arriving until we walked out was 2 hours and 10 minutes. I guess this is what you get for a tourist location. read more
