Frequent flyer when visiting Winter Park. Food is great! A few of my favorites: anything with their special queso dip! If Adam is behind the bar you will not have a bad drink. He can whip anything up! We were lucky enough to watch the Eagles win the supper bowl from the upper level bar. Our server Melissa was AMAZING. Not enough words to describe how hard of a worker this gal is. Kuddos to her. We watched her take care of the whole upstairs without a cup ever going empty. Very impressed. Doc's is my fave place in the village. The queso fries are a.maz.ing, (get the 'Mary Jane' beer from New Belgium). Menu prices are high, typical for in resort, better than other places on Mtn. Queso fries are best deal on menu. Servers and bar tenders are usually cool. I've had the range of horrible service to exemplary, with more on the positive side. I try to sit in bar area and have had good service there cause can snag someone coming by. Patio is nice in good weather but don't be in a hurry cause the service can be real spotty. They don't have fireball (or didn't a couple of years ago) but they have Jim beam cinnamon which is almost better. They also have a shot ski. Did I mention the queso fries? I am shocked to see the reviews for this place are so low. A group of four of us all ordered different entrees, and WOW! We all ate every last bite on our plate. The meat, the sides, the beer... it was a great dinner spot. The only thing that disappointed us was the lack of respect from the staff. Our waiter treated us as a huge inconvenience when we weren't quite ready to order and even walked away from us when we were mid-sentence to pick up the check on another table. We've been to Doc's twice this past week. Both days we're consistent or I should say consistently bad. Likely because of the summer months, the place seems extremely understaffed for the crowd that they are getting. You can't really blame the wait staff for this because it seems like all of the waiters there have a number of tables and they just can't get to them fast enough. The food itself is okay and by saying okay I think I'm being generous. The first time we went, I thought we just caught them on a bad day, and we wanted to give it another try. But the second time we went it was the same exact experience. We really wanted to like this place given the great setting, but can't recommend it. In short, great location with terrible service and mediocre food. You're better off going to Vertical, lime, or Pizza Peddler in my book. read more

The restaurant is short-staffed. After waiting for 40 minutes, I asked the waitstaff where our food was. They said the kitchen is busy and our "rushed order" would be out as soon as possible. I said, "we'll it's been 40 minutes and we had 45 minutes to feed my kid before needs to get back on the mountain. Now I have to cancel his order and feed him a bag of chips!" If you come here, ask for Brad the bartender. Sit in the bar area. He was on it and was always making sure that we were all good. The service was great, and the place had an inviting vibe. The food was great, and the margaritas were spot on. It is in a great location in the Village. The customer service was also great. We strongly advise coming here. Was almost closing time and the waiter told us about a bbq rib special they had that day. Thinking it might be the kindest and quickest thing to order, our family ordered 4. We are from the south, and cook and know, good slow cooked pork so we were not expecting much, but what we served, OMG, cooked to perfection fall off the bone ribs with homemade sauce, accompanied by fresh mashed potatoes and charred fresh corn. So many restaurants lately I have left disappointed with substandard flavors and service. Here it was not the case. A surprising importance in food quality, that I didn't want to go unappreciated. Doc's is one of the restaurants at the base of Winter Park operated by the resort. Like all of them it is very expensive for mediocre food and drinks. We visited at lunch time during the Christmas break week, so of course it was crazy busy. The wife's burger was nothing special for $17, but it was acceptable. The big disappointment was the $12 bowl of chili. A few shreds of hamburger, a scattering of beans and lots and lots of tomato and onion chunks in a bland, watery soup. Army cooks would be ashamed to serve this mess. Just buy some freaking canned chili for cripes sake! It is dirt cheap and hundred times better than this glop. It took us twenty minutes to pay the bill once we were ready to leave. We had to track down the hostess to have her find our waiter, who eventually showed up and then disappeared with our credit card for ten minutes. Hopefully Aspen Ski Company will chose to turn over operation of some of these restaurants to outside vendors. Until then we will remember to bring sandwiches and spend our dining dollars in town. read more

This could be, and should be, so much better than it is. Sure, it's right at the bottom of the mountain and has a nice selection of beers, but the food is absolutely abysmal and the prices are ridiculously high for the quality and service you get. We spent $200 for a party of four for dinner on a Tuesday night. There was one waitress working the entire room. The chips and cheese sauce appetizer was lifeless and tasted like it was made from a flour-based mix. The entrees arrived before the salads. Food wasn't as described, and while there was a lot of it, it was just blah and unsatisfying. We love staying at Winter Park's base village in the comfortable, well-equipped condos, but the food options in the village, and on the mountain lunch spots for that matter, are just subpar, especially for a world-class ski resort. You'd think the parent company would overhaul the food and drink options to keep people from venturing downtown...which is where we're going for dinner from now on. read more

Skip this place. The chicken sandwich was awful because it was 2 or 3 inches thick - way too thick to be eaten as a sandwich. We asked the waiter and she said its always that thick. They need to change this. This is one of those scenarios where they are clearly not listening to consumers. Burger was ok but not that high of quality. We didnt even like the fries, as they had some awful seasoning on them. I hardly bash restaurants but this one is bad. Service was bad too - they forgot a drink. We had a large party and the servers didn't seem very experienced in handling all of us. I could see the frustration and stress in their faces from the beginning to the service to the end. A friend asked for a side of fries with her order and the server she asked replied, "Okay ma'am, but we're busy so I'll do what I can" in a somewhat rude and exasperated fashion. The pot roast sliders were good. 4/5. My girlfriend's Cajun bloody Mary had great presentation and taste. 5/5 Service was very sub-par and they messed up my order, the entree was meh. 1.5/5 A lack of professionalism was very apparent. I'd also like to add that I have worked in the restaurant industry for 10+ years, so my eyes are very sharp and critical though I understand where servers, managers, and kitchen staff are coming from as I have worked every position and I do my best to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. read more

I've eaten here before but this is my first review of the place. This place is very convient to the Village and the base of the hill. The initial service was very quick and we had water in front of us before we knew it. We weren't quite ready to order so she came back a few minutes later. We ordered the half sandwich and soup. We had chili with a BLT and a Reuben with vegatable beef soup. A few other customes received their food before us when they ordered after us and it did take much longer that it should have based on how busy they were and the difficulty of the dishes served. The BLT had one very wilted lettuce leaf, two slices of dry bacon (no moisture at all), one mini slice (the butt of the tomato) on very dry slice of wheat bread. I should have sent the sandwich back but I guess it's the Minnesota nice in me and I did tell the waitress this. The soup was an average chili with a little kick. The Reuben was good but the waitress said she had to send it back a few times because kraut was requested to be left off when the food was ordered. The vegetable soup wasn't very tasty and lacked consistency. As we were waiting on our food I did see some very good looking dishes come out like: a wrap, onion rings, burgers and oriental chicken salad. Will I come back? Yes, and I'll stay away from the soup and BLT. read more

A group of us made a visit to Doc's Roadhouse because our tickets to Trestle Bike Park came with a free beer at Doc's. We sat in the lounge area, were given menus, then sat around for about 10 minutes, clearly ready to order, before the bartender finally walked over. I tried the buffalo wings, egg rolls, and buffalo chicken tacos. We actually didn't order the tacos...we ordered wings, and got the tacos instead, but they told us to keep them. I guess it kind of worked out, since the tacos turned out to be the best dish we got. Unfortunately, that wasn't saying much - the egg rolls were kind of mushy, and the wings were a little soggy despite the fact that they must have been freshly fried since they messed up our original order. The beer selection is decent, and they have a happy hour from 3-6 with $3 drafts. The service is definitely lacking though. On top of taking forever to get our order and getting it wrong once they did, the bartender actually forgot about one of the rounds we ordered, and when we did get it, the beer was weird - on the flat side, and not nearly as cold as I would expect a draft beer to be (I should probably note that our other beers were just fine). Based off of the food quality and the service mistakes, Doc's would be squarely in one star territory for me. They get one back since the waitstaff were pretty friendly, and did comp us some things because of the screw-ups. read more

Disgusting. I had the tomato soup and mini grilled cheese. Soup was oatmeal like and way too salty. Grilled cheese was two cheese-like slices that weren't even melted. Kids meals at 10 dollars each were just as bad. Mac and cheese and fries for $10. Luckily my kids like boxed Mac cheese. Beer choice was Mary Jane and it was the only saving grace. Slow. Expensive. I feel like this place is getting a bad rap, even though we had a fine time here. We went (5 girls) to Happy Hour and my friends were raving about the Pork sliders. The other Apps were basic bar food, nothing amazing. Beer was good, and the service was great (we had a wonderful server). Doc's Roadhouse has always been my go to place after a long day of snowboarding at Winter Park resort. The food is great, the bartenders are awesome and they always know what drink to make me when I had to the bar. The bartender Brad always remembers me, even though I only show up there a handful of times per season. Good times, good food, great people. read more

We dined here on our first night in Winter Park. We are from Pittsburgh and they happened to show the Penguins game when we were there, which was fantastic! We had good food. I enjoyed the grilled Reuben and fries. Prices were standard resort prices, i believe my reuben was around $15. Overall, decent food, bar atmosphere, and a good overtime win for the Penguins! Grilled cheese with pot roast is a gut bomb. If you need the sleep it's the meal to order. I think the prices are high for what you get but it is a resort place so you know. It's been almost 20 years since I've been to WP, so I was looking forward to checking out some new places that didn't exist the last time I was there! This place was dead quiet (day 3 of the season), so we had the pick of the place regarding where to sit. We chose to sit outside in the sunshine, and our waiter was very quick to get our drink order, get us our utensils, etc. My kids both ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, and I ordered the pot roast grilled cheese. OMG. That was AMAZING. The biggest reason for 4 stars vs. 5 is that even though we were the only folks in the place, it took almost 20 minutes for us to get our food... and they'd been open for about 45 minutes already. My kids had to slam down those grilled cheeses in record time for them to wobble on over to their afternoon lesson. Food was delicious, and I'm happy to go back in the future and try out some other good looking dishes on their menu! read more

In short, the food was incredibly expensive for a casual restaurant (around $40 for a small flatbread-style pizza, a salad, and a beverage), and tasted microwaved and bland. The service was awful. One person in their party asked for no onions and when onions were nevertheless included in his dish, he reminded the server of his request.
