This is one of my favorite local spots! The atmosphere is fun and the staff is always kind. It's just an all around very laid back place with good good. Angie is one of the bartenders and she's just so fun! Always engaging guests and efficient. Even when it's busy ( which it often is) she's never frazzled! My boyfriend's family lives around Doc's and we go here ALL the time. But not because the food is amazing, just because it's convenient. The food is good, nothing spectacular. I've tried a few items such as: the cold plate platter, made up of awesome chicken salad, too fishy shrimp salad (possibly made from frozen shrimp), a bunch of packaged crackers, and fruit from a can (didn't touch this). The nacho appetizer, made up of chili, jalapenos, tomatoes, cheese, and lettuce with salsa and sour cream on the side, nothing special about these but I would like to try the chicken instead of chili next time! the spinach salad without bacon/bacon dressing- which was pretty plain and consisted of spinach, red onion, and mushrooms, I could've passed on this salad and enjoyed a platter of fries instead.. hah! there goes my diet. Pros: $3 margaritas during happy hour, $4 margaritas when it's not happy hour -fried rockfish, the french fries & onion rings, and their chili -great service, the waitresses are attentive and friendly (+!!) -fried oysters are good. -stuffed mushrooms are a hit or a miss, consists of 4-5 mushrooms stuffed with crab meat. I received different opinions about this appetizer though -house made chips are yummy! I like the seasoning on them and they're kettle cooked. -corn bread (if you ask for it) comes out warm and with butter. I love cornbread. -Caesar salad is good, but get the dressing on the side because it tends to be heavy Cons: -Avoid the tuna BLT/tuna on salad if you want it cooked a certain way. It's always cooked more than how you want it. -the upcharge for fries (worth the $2 though) and toppings for your burgers are .75 each. -a cup of soup is $6....whether it's Italian wedding or Maryland crab... read more

Doc's Riverside Grill was an oasis for us on a recent Eastern Shore road trip. Driving on a hot Sunday afternoon we found nothing of substance (or really, nothing open) in Chesapeak City or Chestertown and were parched for some good beer by the time we reached Centreville. We never would have find the place were it not for Yelp - thanks, Yelpers. Docs doesn't appear to be beside a river - it's outdoor dining area is a walled-in patio. It's nothing fancy, but it has a GREAT beer full of microbrews list and some tasty appetizers (we had the homemade chips, covered in sauce with bacon - healthy it ain't). read more

I just don't find this place special. Average food for above average prices. I think the draw of so many people has been the lack of places to eat in the Centreville area. However, I think now that the economy is getting better and new places are opening back up that this location will be less attractive to the locals. It does have probably the biggest bar in Centreville which will always be an attraction for some, but the food really is not worth it to me. read more

Highly recommend Doc's Riverside Grill. Went on a weekday for lunch during COVID. They exceeded recommendations for safety, clearly invested in keeping staff and patrons safe. Service was exceptional. We had the good fortune of having "Susie" as our waitress and she could not have been nicer, more efficient or more accommodating. Food was great and service and hospitality were even better. They have a large, heated tent that kept us both warm and isolated from other patrons. Features dependable food and a friendly waitstaff in a pleasant bar atmosphere. The place is divided into a dining-room side and a separate bar area lined with TVs showing sports. Since that is an option, it's unfortunate that there are TVs throughout the dining room as well. What is unacceptable, however, is that the owner insists that all TVs in the dining-room be on and tuned to Fox News. Polite requests on separate occasions to have them switched off or the channel changed were met with flat refusal. This was to a group of regular local customers that eats there weekly and it really detracts from what would be an otherwise enjoyable meal with friends. read more

First time here at Doc's Riverside stopping on the way home from vacation. Sure glad we did. The Maryland seafood and veggie soup was chock full of shrimp, crab, and Scallops, along with tender veggies. Service was superb, very attentive staff. The shrimp salad wrap was filled with large shrimps in a tasty sauce, too big to eat in one sitting. If I'm passing through this quaint town again, I would love to go back to try other seafood options. Prices reasonably selected for seafood and sandwiches. read more

I have searched for many years and many miles to find a delicious Cream of Crab soup. Doc's was able to quench my desires and send me into a soup euphoria. Everytime I get to the Eastern Shore, one stop we have to make is to Doc's. Before I head back to FL each time, I purchase 1 or 2 bowls of the soup with extra crab...ooohhhhhh sooo deliciousssss. I once ran into a problem flying with soup but found a solution. Prior to leaving on a flight, refrigerate the soup. All of the good cream and butter turns it into more of a solid that is easily reheated and just as delicious on the south end of the US. Oh Doc's.....I yearn for you!!! Everything else is very good too, but I definitely go for the Cream of Crab...See you next trip. read more

Still not impressed with this restaurant. Too many TV's in the dining room and they're always tuned to Fox! Yuk.. bet the renovations include more tv's..not to mention dishes are not prepared consistently. The only thing they have going for them is location. read more

Today was the second time I have been to Doc's. The waitstaff is very sweet and attentive. I would like to say something else positive, but I can't. The food was average at best. I know it is a sports bar, but the level of noise in the restaurant was outrageously and offensivily loud. I couldn't hear the person sitting a foot away from me over the din from the music speakers. We asked if the volume could be lowered, but our request was ignored. Unless you like loud loud loud music or Fox TV, I'd find another place to eat. read more

Good, not great food. Locals seem to really like the bar and tolerate the average food. No river or view of one as far as I could tell. Nice waitress. Not one vegetarian dish, other than a garden salad, which left my daughter hungry. read more

Decent food, but a little bit over priced. I was disappointed their crab balls/crab cakes are not freshly made. They could not even confirm if the crab cakes were made with local blue crab. Service was average, the facilities were clean, but the wait for food was a bit excessive --45 minutes. The haddock was a good deal for the price. This is excellent casual restaurant - except - There are TVs throughout the dining room all tuned to Fox News all the time. There is nothing that will ruin an appetite like watching someone explain how taking children away from their parents is a good thing. If Doc's ever decides to change channels, try the fish tacos. read more

Went for dinner Fourth of July weekend. They don't have steamed crabs which was a bummer... But, they do have delicious steamed shrimp. I wasn't very impressed by their menu. While there were quite a few things there nothing really jumped out. It's a pretty standard eastern Maryland bar. The service was great though! The food is just mediocre, or as I call it "boring". Some appetizers have that freezer quality to them, especially the spring rolls. The prices are fairly decent though. For 2 of us with 2 appetizers, a chicken cheese steak (not good) and a crabby chicken salad and 4 beers was only $40.00. They do have beer drink specials, which is a big plus. $2 Natty Boh's during baseball games. Docs is a nice go-to for a family lunch or dinner. The food is above average, and the menu is fairly deep. Bar side is lively but loud, while dining room side is quiet but bland. Friday and Saturday happy hour and dinner parking is very hard to come by. Also, you pay for the quality, as Docs is a bit expensive for its modest atmosphere. An order of wings is $10, and a call Margarita is $9, for example. And don't expect a major wine list. Beer is a better choice, with much better options. Mr. Logical, my mother-in-law, and I headed here for lunch when we needed a break from house renovations. We all greatly enjoyed our lunches, and FIL enjoyed the hamburger we brought back for him. I had the Smokey's Choice sandwich, which was huge and delicious. So were the homemade chips that came with it. MIL had the soup and sandwich special, which was also huge. Mr. Logical ordered fries with his sandwich, only because of the presence of malt vinegar on the table, and enjoyed them as well. This is a solid place for a night out. Nothing spectacular, but decent basic American food. I had a BBQ burger with chips, and the only complaint I had was that the chips needed salt. My husband seemed happy with his Ahi tuna, but he did mention it was a little overcooked. We went on the night of their Halloween party, and it was what you'd expect... loud music, underdressed women, and a few people who were well past tipsy. The server was fantastic even though the place was packed. The bathroom was pretty clean for a bar. Parking can be an issue on a busy night, so arrive early if you're going for an event. read more
