Knoxie's Table in Stevensville Maryland! What a gem of a restaurant! A little fancy, a little relaxed and all very good! The restaurant was hopping. Very crowded and lots of servers, bus people and workers. They were all moving around with great speed, carrying big trays full of food and constantly cleaning up after a table had been vacated. It was like watching some sort of massive choreographed musical number in a Broadway show. Almost every table was full when we arrived. Conservations and laughter rang throughout the restaurant all night. The activity added to the nice ambiance of the busy dining room. The food was very good. I started out with the half and half cream of crab/Maryland vegetable crab soup. Very good! Was it the best I have ever had? Probably not but it has nothing to be ashamed of. Okay, so maybe the thickening agent (flour?) was a bit heavy but I enjoyed the heck out of that soup nonetheless. I ate every drop and wished I had more! My main course was pecan crusted halibut. OMG fantastic! A huge piece of halibut that was perfectly cooked and presented. The sauce was delightfully sweet and savory at the same time. I loved that fish! You know what else I loved at Knoxie's Table? Sarah, our server! She was friendly, talkative, efficient, helpful and really nice to be around. From the moment Sarah introduced herself, she showed us just about the sweetest disposition of anyone I have ever met. And she was a great server on top of that! Thank you, Sarah, for making our dinner at Knoxie's Table a wonderful experience. It is a bit weird to drive over 1 hour to the Eastern Shore to go to a restaurant that is not on the water. Usually, when we drive that far, we are headed to a destination restaurant with beautiful views of the Chesapeake, cool breezes off the water or something to remind ourselves that we are in a different place. Here, in Knoxie's Table, you could be anywhere. You are not on the water, there is no view of a dramatic sunset, you don't see flocks of seagulls agitating each other for a scrap of food. But you go to Knoxie's Table on the strength of the food and, in our case, the luck of having a wonderful server like Sarah. I will have other meals where I see the Chesapeake or smell the fresh air off the Bay. But I will never have a dining experience as perfect as the one I just had at Knoxie's Table. What a delightful, cozy and classy joint! Visiting Kent Island over Christmas, my sister-in-law picked this location as a great family spot to check out. It was a Friday night and started out laid back but soon became the place to be! The crab dip is one of the best around. Thick, a little spice, lumps of crab, and a great cracker/bread to drip ratio! Usually, there's plenty of dip left over once the bread is gone but this dish was perfect with crackers and small naan bread rounds. My main dish was the shrimp and grits - a delightfully delish concoction with blackened shrimp, yellow cheddar grits, andouille sausage, peppers, onions, scallions, and cajun cream. The service was friendly and frequent. With the location and variety of menu options, make plans soon to visit! read more

My family visited Knoxie's for my Mom's birthday dinner. It's one of the few options on Kent Island that isn't bar food or a dock bar so I wasn't expecting to be impressed and honestly, I wasn't. The place is huge with indoor and outdoor seated. We were seated at a spacious booth. Service was touch and go throughout the night. We ordered a bottle of red wine and two glasses of albariño. It took about 30 minutes after being seated to finally get our drinks and when they did arrive, the server had given us rosé instead of albariño. I knew by looking at it that this was not what I had ordered so I asked if it was albariño. He insisted it was but I knew it wasn't by the look, smell, and taste. He eventually came back about 10 minutes later with the correct pours. By that point, we were starving so we put all our food in at once to hopefully speed things up. We ordered the parmesan fries, pierogies, crab dip, and beet salad to start. We also each got entrees including the shrimp and grits, crab cakes, steak, and white fish (I think it was branzino?). The appetizers were all delicious - the fries were consumed quickly and the crab dip, although not very crab meat forward, had nice flavor. They provided GF crackers as well but the dip could've used some carrots or celery too. The beet salad wasn't bad either. The entrees came out quickly before we could even finish our apps. Our order definitely was not paced correctly. The flavor of my shrimp and grits was good though and it had a surprisingly nice kick to it. We also ordered dessert - a key lime pie and ice cream(?) if I'm remembering correctly. What I do remember is that the ice cream came out quickly and the key lime pie took forever. It was weird to have our two desserts come out separately and by the time the other one arrived, the first one was already finished, making it a bit awkward. I think if the service and pace of the meal had been improved, this would've easily been 4 stars. I'm not sure if our server was new or what but the clunky service overshadowed the quality of the food. I will also mention that the check came out to about $450. Service sets the tone and service lacked tonight. The restaurant was mostly empty. We were a couple of 2 in the one area by bar. Our server, never checked on us to ask if everything was OK. Forgot a side order, which finally came after I asked him for it and he brought it out after I was done. Very disappointed on overall service based on it being quiet. Mussels terrible, sandy and lacked flavor. Stay away from ordering, you will be disappointed. Caesar salad lacked flavor and any Parmesan cheese. Halibut was very good, spouse really enjoyed it. Lamb was good. Pepper jack creamed corn was served nice and hot with great flavor. Would try it again to try shrimp gumbo, my original thought to order. This is a popular local place. The venue is attractive, although not on the water. But communication was really weak. My retired women's group from Annapolis holds happy hour events each month in the local area. The group now includes Kent Island. Before we plan an event, I contact the restaurant management to verify the HH pricing, the bar area layout, and whether we need a reservation for our group (typically 12-20 people, with separate checks). I emailed both the general manager & the restaurant manager at Chesapeake Bay Beach Club, and neither one responded. So after a couple of weeks, I finally called and spoke to whoever answered the phone at the hostess desk. We were told that the HH pricing was just inside at the bar, no outdoor seating. So when we arrived today, we set up at a high top table inside the bar. The bartender came over and said we could sit outside too. The weather had cleared so we moved ourselves & our stuff outside. Then a server came out and said they would not honor the happy hour prices if we were outside instead of inside. Since we had moved the group once already, we elected to stay outside and we paid the higher prices since we were sitting 25 feet away from our first table. (They blamed a new employee but that was not really the problem). The food was fine, but not memorable. We shared the crab dip, the calamari, sliced ahi tuna, chicken drumsticks, and the caprese flatbread. So it you want a pretty venue, not on the water, and you don't mind being flexible as the information keeps changing, try Knoxies. read more

We arrived early for our 6:30 reservations so we went to the very lively bar to wait to be seated. There were only 2 seats left, with patrons not only having drinks, but others eating dinner. Once seated at our table in the large dining room, the sound level was a lot lower than I expected, which is always good thing. There were 6 of us and we shared a delicious Crab Dip as well as a Calamari Bowl and a Gambas Ajillo (Spanish-style garlic shrimp, crushed red peppers, Sherry, and toasted Ciabatta.) The entrees ran from Rockfish, to Sea Bass to Crab Cakes. Three of us went for the Tavern Pot Pie. (Braised beef tips, pearl onions, carrots, celery, sweet peas, gruyere cheese, and potato dollop). There were 3 dollops, almost enough to call the dish a Shepard's Pie. Everyone enjoyed their choices. With 2 beers, and a cocktail at the table, the bill per couple before tip came to around $100. We decided to dine on the Inn and Chesapeake Bay Beach Club property and glad we did. The service was immediate and attentive, we love the farm house atmosphere. It was a Sunday so a little slow but I've seen it packed and it's never too loud. The main reason to come is the food! A wide selection on the menu, and the portions are perfectly generous but more importantly full of delicious flavor. Whether you're staying on property or just want to pop in for a great dining experience, I highly recommend! I do suggest reservations for the typical busy dining days and times though! Now, I always side eye hotel restaurants as being bland and not fun! Not Knoxie's! Located in The Inn at the Cheaspeake Beach Club, Knoxie's Table has a menu to satisfy all appetites. We had to complimentary drink tickets from the hotel so we started with a margarita and the mango cocktail. Both were delicious! For appetizers,, we ordered the Calamari Bowl and Cream of Crab Soup. Now this isn't your average calamari. It has lightly fried vegetables with a balsamic glaze. Very nice done and so flavorful. The soup was nicely balanced and had a decent amount of lump crab. We then ordered our entrees of the Filet Mignon and Chilean Sea Bass with Green Curry. The filet overshadowed the sea bass as it was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and melted in my mouth. The shrimp were very seasoned (which I wasn't expecting). The fish dish was good, but the steak was AMAZING! If you're ever on Kent's Island, give Knoxie's a try! read more

Loved Knoxie's and wish we could've tried everything on the menu during our stay! If you're ever in the area definitely check it out. You can enjoy dinner inside or outside and then take a walk around the stunning inn with lots of places to chill outside by the fire with a glass of wine. Upon booking our stay at The Inn at Chesapeake bay beach club we were given an $100 food credit to use at their restaurant. Thank god we were otherwise I'm not sure we would've stayed for the food! We had a 6:30 reservation on a Friday night and the inside and outside were both packed! Our server was so sweet and knowledgeable, we ordered all of his recommendations. Delayed review! My parents and I were heading to the Bay Bridge to catch the last summer sunset and wanted to grab dinner first. We got to Hemingways around 5 PM and they already had a 45 minute wait. Luckily, I called Knoxie's and they were able to hold a table outside for us. Success! We had a socially distanced table outside and a super nice waiter. We were in a bit of a rush and he was able to make sure we could order, eat, and pay super quickly. We shared the: -Calamari Bowl: Yum! By bowl, they mean platter. Lots of crispy calamari and the pepperoncini added the perfect touch. -Jumbo Crab Cakes: These were polarizing. I thought the crab flavor was good but my mom thought there was something a little off about them. Either way, not the best crab cakes either of us have ever had. -Daily Special: I think it was the Rockfish but I can't remember. Either way, it was delicious!!! Nice and light with summer cucumbers and tomatoes. Exactly what we needed. -Braised Brussel Sprouts: I'll never say no to brussel sprouts and enjoyed these! This restaurant was conveniently located inside our resort. The resort was aesthetically appealing and so is this restaurant. It was a rainy evening, so we didn't want to venture outside if we didn't have to. Our servers name was Kim and she was absolutely wonderful! She was friendly, humorous, personable and pleasant. Her meal recommendations were spot on. I had this "out of this world" rockfish dish. My wife had crab soup that she couldn't stop raving about. Even the drinks were made to perfection. I enjoyed a few "Tom Collins" that helped me wind down for the evening. Service was quick and we had no complaints. There was live music and the musician was awesome. He played music from various artists and we definitely enjoyed that added feature. I wish I would've got his information. It's rather far but if we ever decide to have a function, we'd definitely consider this guy. The only reason that I did not give this place (5) stars is because it was freezing in the dining area. Had dinner here last night with my husband brother and sister-in-law and wasn't as impressed as I expected to be. It's a nice restaurant at a fun resort but the food didn't live up to expectations or for the price. I had the short ribs which eere good but the gravy was so rich and strong I couldn't eat even half of it. I had the creme brulle for dessert which was so sweet I could hardly eat it. My husband had the parmesan crusted chicken which was good but he was disappointed with the peanut butter chocolate pie. I've had heartburn since the meal and felt a bit nauseous last night. We went here for the first time about 2 years ago and I have been wanting to write a review ever since, but never got around to it and I honestly can't even tell you what we ate besides fries (because I order fries everywhere I go). However, since that time, my husband and I have brought up wanting to eat here again several times. So although I can't remember what I had the first time around, just know it was memorable enough that we wanted to go back. SO we finally went back for new years, and it's still taken me 3 months to write this review haha. Now this time wasn't as impressive as the first time (for my vegetarian entrée anyway), and they change their menu so often I still can't remember what I got (I know this review is starting to seem useless haha). BUT the one thing I do remember, because I posted a photo here on Yelp, is the cinnamon sugar donut toffee ice cream sandwich we had for dessert! Now that made the entire meal worth it for me. It was likely a seasonal item, but let's hope they bring it back next year! Anyway, my memory hasn't deterred me from wanting to eat here again so I would absolutely go back! It's one of the only restaurants over the bridge that offers vegetarian options and the ambience is pretty nice as well. We will be back and I'll be sure to post more photos or actually review what I ate other than the dessert next time lol. read more

Complimentary bread includes biscuits and banana bread with butter and jams. The banana bread was awesome and they were really generous about giving us more. The crab omelette was pretty good- light hollandaise, the eggs were alittle underpoached, but I liked the collection of crab meat piled next to the egg/biscuit. The bread was moist and flavorful, and the potatoes were really good - crispy, some caramelized onions and hint of Old Bay seasoning. Generous portions! After ordering the tuna poke and calamari bowl to share for the 2 of us, we were too full to order 2 entrees so ended up sharing one. The tuna poke presentation was very nice...could have used an acid of some sort, like marinating the cucumbers in rice vinegar to really brighten the dish. Similarly, we really appreciated inclusion of fried zucchini and pepperoncini in the calamari bowl, and the tomato olive caponata topping was heavenly, but providing lemon wedges to squeeze on top of the dish would have helped to round out the flavors. Absolutely wonderful dining experience for my 60th birthday. We started off at the bar for a drink, and the selection leaned towards bourbon and rye. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, describing all the upcoming special tastings. We were seated by the fireplace. The waitstaff was solicitous and efficient. Pretty friendly and knowledgeable, too. My wife's Caesar salad and my black and blue salad were phenomenal. My steak tips on my salad were incredibly tender. For starters, I love the decor and cozy fireplace. The dining room is comfy and they start turning their Southern charm on me right away with bread and pimento cheese. Ya'll sure so know how to remind me of my beloved grandmother. My husband and I have been to Knoxie's once for brunch and many times for dinner. We've worked our way through the menu and everything has been delicious. Among the most memorable items are the baked wild rockfish, farmers chicken, the burger, farm salad, a huge tower of chilled seafood and Smith Island cake. Service has been consistently good too. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED with dinner at Knoxie's. My wife and I have visited The Inn's Market Cafe a few times for breakfast and dessert (pie) and the experience has been great at hello to good bye. Unfortunately, Knoxie's did not live up to the hype or the 4.5 rating on Yelp. Here is our experience from start to finish: 1. We made a reservation and checked in with the hostess who immediately found our name and escorted us to our table. The check-in with the hostess went well. 2. Immediately after being seated a gentleman came out and poured water for the table, prior to leaving an extra bottle. We greeted him with a smile and hello...crickets. He did not respond. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he just didn't hear us. HOWEVER, he's serving us so the thought would be he would've said hello to us. 3. Soon after the waitress came out. She greeted us with a smile and hello. Frankly she did almost did everything right. With the exception of asking us if we had eaten there before and letting us know the top dishes. 4. We ordered our food. We have a two-year old with us and had to request a kids menu. We had a menu but they gave us a menu for brunch. 5. We place an order for: - Pork chops and grits. - Cheeseburger and garlic fries. - Nachos - Cream of Crab Soup - Cesar Salad - Chicken Tenders and Fries *Note we did not order seafood (exception of cream and crab soup) and this may have been our mistake. But that is yet to be determined. And may not be by me because I may not come back to Knoxie's. Out of the food above the two items that passes on flavor and presentation were the burger and the kids chicken tenders. The Cream of Crab Soup was above average. It wasn't warm enough, and we had to add pepper to bring the flavor out. A side of sherry would have done this dish a lot of justice. The Nachos were absolutely terrible. The chef overthought. A simple dish and overdid it with flavors that just don't mix well. The nacho chips were decent, they appear to be home made but likely were out of a bag and heated. The burger was cooked properly as well as the garlic fries. It's a burger and they got it right. Kids Chix Fingers: see earlier comment above. Cesar Salad: the salad dressing was good and the lettuce was crisp however it taste like it just came out of the refrigerator and then to the plate and to me. The lettuce should have been grilled and lightly peppered immediately moved to the plate and then the dressing should have been added. My opinion BUT it would've been better. The pork chop was absolutely the worse pork chop I have ever experienced. The meat was chewy and salty. And the side of grits was below par, the veggies on the side had absolutely no flavor. I don't think the chef understood the basics of preparing a good pork chop. First know your meat, season it before putting it in the skillet, and never ever take a pork chop right out of the frig and then to the skillet, and yes you must let the meat rest when it is removed from the skillet. It builds the character of the meat and "grows" the flavor. I let the waitress know I didn't like it. She apologized but still charges me for the meal and did not offer a remedy. This is disappointing. And frankly does not fit for this establishment inside the The Inn at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. The front desk staff is amazing, the staff in the Market is amazing. And anyone we ever encountered here has been A-1. Unfortunately as they say one bad apple can ruin a bunch. Now to the waitress she was not bad however she needs training on how to respond to a customer that is it satisfied. I give a generous two starts out of five. For now I'll stick to the Market and when RSG time for Dinner I'll turn left out the driveway to the Stevensville CrabShack, or right to Hemingway's. read more

Our waitress brought out some champagne to start the evening and made excellent recommendations for cocktails and whiskey as well as dinner. We were in the area for the weekend and decided to come for dinner. My husband had the duck medium rare and it was amazing! I had the crab cakes and they were huge with a lot of crab meat. We liked it so much we came back again the next night for dinner. This time I got a burger and it was huge! It was on a baguette with lettuce, cooked onions and cheddar cheese and came with Parmesan fries, and my husband got a salad and added shrimp. I came here on my birthday, an August Sunday evening, with my family. We sat outside - they have a pretty patio area. The server was attentive. The smoked salmon deviled eggs appetizer was very good. I had scallops and risotto, and they were both good, but not especially memorable. Overall, it's a good meal (somewhere between 4-5 stars-worthy) and the ambiance is really nice. Pretty awesome food, big mistake our dinner came before our apps. Not sure if dinner would it have been better if it came at the right time. Service was friendly but kind of lean, I think the holidays bring more customers than staff can manage. The onion dip is a great table pleaser. The cream of crab soup has put The Narrows Restaurant on notice, delicious! Only detractors was our hostess who was put off that we didn't want a table in the noisy bar area.
