I hate leaving bad reviews--but this was unavoidable. Normally, I give a place at least three visits before forming an opinion, but after today's experience at Red Eye's Dock Bar, I just couldn't overlook the service. We were seated at 3:15 PM on a Friday. There were only three tables occupied and three servers working, so it wasn't even remotely busy. Unfortunately, our server, Sydney, disappeared--twice. After taking our drink order, she vanished for over 16 minutes before the drinks arrived. Then, after dropping off our food, she disappeared for good. We literally had to ask the bus girl, Aliyah, to go look for her. And bless her heart--Aliyah searched upstairs, downstairs, far and near trying to locate our server, but no luck. Meanwhile, the other waitstaff--including a young man working the other tables--were attentive and visible. It was frustrating to watch our table become the exception in what should've been a chill, easy service window. We shared our concerns with Sydney before paying. When I asked where she had gone, she told us she had been busy doing her chores--like cleaning bathrooms and things of that nature. That only added to my concern... If you're cleaning bathrooms in the middle of a shift, should you really be serving food and drinks? To be fair, the food was actually pretty good, which makes this review even more disappointing. EH. Came on opening day, which was also Cinco de Mayo. We got a table under the tent. Waited 15+ mins for someone to come and even offer water. We were actually gathering our things to leave, when someone came. When I asked was there any Cinco de Mayo specials or HH, we were told that after 6pm HH ends, but they had specials for the day. Those specials were $8 for all appetizers. Our waitress was new, so she said she would confirm. We ordered Apps, pending confirmation. Nearly 10 mins later, we get our drinks and ask about the price of apps and were told Apps were not $8, and the order was placed. This was frustrating because I def. would have gone with my original idea of a steak taco for $17+ instead of $17+ rockfish tender apps, that I didn't really want upfront. Since we were told apps were likely $8 we decided to just order from that part of the menu to try out different things. Sigh. This place was never really my go to on the Island. It was cool to check out after so many years. Was hoping for the "Cinco de Mayo" vibes that were posted on social media, and it just fell flat for me. But go - enjoy it for yourself! We came for dinner and there was club level loud music and then a band playing during the dinner hour. So not great for chatting or even talking to our server. The staff we encountered during our visit was super nice and working really hard. Service was pretty quick for a busy Saturday in season. The view was really pretty but a place should not rely on a pretty view and nice staff alone. The food was mid in my opinion. The menu is small enough that every dish should be good and it was all just ok ish. I think if I came here at night for a band it would be a great place to hangout and party but maybe not a dinner stop. read more

My family and I stopped by Red Eye's to check out a SUP race that was going on. After finding parking in the large adjacent parking lot, we snagged a picnic table by the water to hopefully catch all the action. It turned out that the race had already passed by though! Nevertheless, we took this opportunity to order a few drinks and bites to eat. Being that we seated ourselves, we needed to track down some menus. I went in to the covered bar area and waited a few minutes for the bartender to finish his conversation to ask for some menus. He said that since we were seated outdoors I needed to see the hostess so I stopped by her stand to request menus and a server. She seemed a bit unenthused but she gave us our menus and assigned a server. Our server was great - patient, offered waters, and stopped by a few times to make sure we were all good. I ordered a caesar salad and added chicken as I was not that hungry and knew we had a big dinner planned later that day. The salad was pretty good, nothing life changing. It seemed fairly fresh and there was a good amount of chicken. I will say the dressing was a bit lacking since it didn't really taste like the classic caesar dressing I'm used to. We also ordered some crabby tots for the table that were delicious! My grandma ordered the crabcake sandwich which was a good size and came with more than enough french fries. She requested Old Bay on the side since her crabcake wasn't seasoned to her liking. Red Eye's is one of those classic dock bars in the Stevensville area. While the food is pretty basic, the views and atmosphere are really what make this place special. Not to mention there was some live music going on and the performer was amazing! After docking the yacht we wanted a quick and easy meal. The bar tender explained the local area and the many places to visit. I ordered the fish and chips. This place welcomes dogs and has quick service. Thank goodness we docked during the week because the weekend is standing room only. 5 minute wait for a hostess who seemed annoyed we showed up for lunch. Seated outside 25 minutes later, there are zero waitresses identified taking orders. Minus one loan barmaid serving drinks. On the way out without eating, and after listening to heavy metal screaming music, including the all time favorite , "she f$&@ing hates me..." My parents and I stopped in for lunch on Saturday around 11:30. We got a picnic table right by the water and had a great view. We each had a couple drinks to include crushes, a dirty banana and beer. We shared the jerk chicken appetizer which was delicious! I had the chicken tacos and a side of fries. The chicken tacos were good but didn't have much chicken in them and they really overdid it with the sauce. Even though I wiped some off I feel like it was too much. My parents both got the chicken Chesapeake sandwich but without the crab dip. They both enjoyed their sandwiches. My husband had the smash burger which he enjoyed. I would rather send the management a letter direct but I have had no luck with that. I have always enjoyed Red Eye's. I was at the bikini contest on Father's day. What a disappointment with the MC. I don't think he could of gotten any lower. He made a disgrace of the girls and the people attending. If Red Eye's wants to lower their standards ,then they are on the right track. A few years ago when I attending this contest it was done with class. He basically offended just about everyone there. I am married and my husband was with me along with my 34 year old niece and husband. She made a comment that he was class it down. My husband and nephew felt the same way. The contest can be fun and done with class. I am not sure what the MC was going for, no one in the crowd laughed at him everyone just kinda looked around and saying to each other, did he really just say that. This was a stop on the Crush Bus with BMore Around Town. I loved the location and that there are so many different areas you can choose to dine. I decided to taste the crab cake and order some fries. The crab cake is not lump crab meat but still had a great flavor to it. It was served on top of corn with a sauce which I really. We were having an amazing day out on the boat with friends in town. We told our out of town friends that red eyes was a great place to go, they even have a dog menu for our furry friend! So we went out of our way to come here, after docking and walking up to the front entrance a young man with an Orange security shirt on said "no dogs allowed." We were shocked and asked if this was the place that had the dog menu... he said yes, but with a live band, you can't bring your dog in here... The last time we were here, there was also a live band, so we were very confused. We walked away very annoyed with the security guards tone of communication to us, and the inconsistencies in messaging. How can a restaurant with a dog menu not allow dogs... I did a simple google search, see attached screenshot, indicating that dogs are welcome. The security guard also did not offer us anything. He did not offer to get a manager, he did not explain that there was a change in policy (since we were here 2 weeks ago without issue), he did not offer a different place for us to go, and he did not express any empathy. 0/10, would not recommend if you have a furry friend. read more

To finally make it here on literally the last day of the 2021 season...truly a blessing. Upon entry, there was a lot of love on the dock with guidance on how things work. From there, we were blessed with an amazing waitress in Emily and then my home girl Alex came through to show love and do what she does as a sound engineer. May can't get here soon enough. During a road trip overe Labor day weekend, me and some friends ended up at the Red Eye's Dock bar for lunch. I had never been but they told me that the food was pretty good. COVID precautions are still a thing so we had to sign in, get assigned tables and make sure that we had masks. This part I didn't mind and understood given our global situation. Our wait wasn't long, there was plenty of people going in and out of the dock so we expected the service to be fast and the food to be good. Once we were seated we ordered drinks and some of my friends already knew what they wanted and ordered right away. By the time the waitress came back with our drinks we were ready to give our orders. I had ordered one of their Orange crushes, it basically tasted like and orange sugary soda with a little alcohol. It was basically a cheap drink. I highly don't recommend you waste your money on it. As for food, I ordered the Rockfish street tacos for $14. The dish is just two little fish tacos with a bunch of toppings. The fish tasted fresh and so did the avocado, red cabbage, and cilantro. Not to mention the lime added a nice touch but I felt it was too little food for $14. Nice to take a picture of but I wanted to taste better. It was nothing special. There was no blackened flavor. Since the drink was a cheap item and the dish just didn't wow me for a seafood taco, one of the big reasons for the two star is the fact that the timing for my groups dishes was all over the place. The people that ordered right away got their food quickly, then the rest of my party got their food in waves. Basically some of us had to watch our friends eat while other tables that got their after us, got their meals and paid before the rest of us got our dishes. We had to wait over an hour after our order to get serve! This was unacceptable. I had asked the waitress several time on the situation of our orders and she basically stated that the kitchen was backed up. This didn't make sense with what we saw, when other people that sat down after us got their food and checks and left before we even saw our food. It felt disorganized and we nearly walked out until a couple of servers had our dishes. On our way home from the beach, a few friends and I wanted to stop somewhere by the Bay bridge to grab a bite and watch the Ravens game... only issue we had a 4 dogs with us so locations were limited. I called places in the area and Red Eyes was the only locations that allows dogs, has visibility to TVs outside, AND they had the sound on for the game. Winner! So it was 8 of us and 4 dogs (crazy I know), but they were so accommodating to us it was great. We sat at the first outdoor bar area, which looked like it was a food bar, not a beverage bar, it was closed for service but they had 3 TVs with the Ravens game on with sound. We all posted up there and had to order from the main tiki bar across the way, which wasn't a big deal because we ordered buckets of beer and multiple drinks to last us. The food menu all sounded good, but I knew it wasn't going to be super gourmet since it is a touristy spot. My hubs and I got the ahi tuna, steamed shrimp and a basket of fries. All were delicious but man they were really really really really lacking on the plating... everything was just plopped on a paper plate as if I got it from a buffet on my own. Give me a leaf of lettuce, a lemon, something to show some kind of effort! The portions were also pretty small, but like I said it was delicious, so I can't really complain too much. The group also ordered nachos, they weren't the best, I would stick with the seafood. Even though we had to order from a different bar, the service was great, there was actually a security guard that kept checking in on us, taking our plates, asking if we needed anything. Red Eye's is our stop as we head to Bay Bridge. It usually breaks up the trip. On July 5, with tornado sightings in Bowie, we stopped in, and only patrons were in the bar not on the dock. I felt compassion for the bar tender having to deal with loud patrons (it IS a bar), but did not appreciate, and was quite offended to hear one the patrons loudly use the "n" word. When I inquired I was told this was the owner of the nearby crab house establishment. I was offended and quickly paid my bill. Not a person took them to task - not even the bar tender. Red Eye's is getting four stars mainly for atmosphere and service. It's a really cool place to sit and have a beer. Bikini contests on Sundays! Now, I liked the tacos I had for lunch - the carnitas. There's plenty of pork filling the flour tortilla, but the only topping is pico de gallo. Red Eye's could really kick these up a notch with some sour cream, avocado, whatever. At $12 for two tacos, they need to step up their game. I'd really love to see more than four draft beers on tap, but they do have a decent selection of bottled beer. They're playing it pretty safe with the standards - not a lot of craft brews. I'd come here again, but mostly for the cool vibe. Don't make the mistake of stopping around lunchtime during the summer when bridge traffic is nuts, if you're heading west, that is. Your bladder will thank you. read more

This whole bar area is really a hidden gem to the DC scene. If you have a car and are close to route 50 you'll be surprised to find yourself a mere 30 min from the may bay bridge and maybe 45 min door to door for this bar. Sure that's not a trivial drive but everyone I've taken out here has loved the beachy feel it brings without committing to a full beach trip. Red Eye's is the place to go late in summer to enjoy the cooler evenings around sunset. They tend to have pretty respectable party bands on a very legit outdoor stage. You can grab tables on the dock along the water. Family friendly until dark. Service has always been good. Food is all solid, but honestly nothing amazing. Standard bar seafood like you'd expect in Ocean city. Always satisfied but never impressed. Beer selection is like a standard sports bar. The real point of coming here is the wonderful outdoor atmosphere on beautiful summer days. They have an endearing decor that is brilliantly colorful and naturally relaxing. Of the bars in the area this probably the youngest crowd. kent narrows certainly favors more of a middle aged socially active person. Don't expect to meet a bunch of kids in their 20s but on average the crowd is fun and energetic. Tip: have a DD and wander around to the various tiki bars on docks in the area and enjoy dancing to top 40 tunes on nice nights. Red Eye's is not a bad spot to stay put. Give this place another try. It is currently under new management. The place is cleaned up and there are servers!!! The new menu offers more than regular bar food. New Ahi Poke bowls are amazing. Shrimp salad roll was better than Nick's in Baltimore. Staff was pleasant and the venue, is perfect. You can always tell something about the management...you have happy staff, that means they are treated right and then in turn treat your customers right. We love going to Red Eye's by boat because it allows us to see family on the other side of the bridge. Just know that although they say they are dog friendly they don't allow dogs 2 hours before and during days when they have a band. They also start charging a cover charge 2 hours before too! (We went on a Sunday afternoon when the band was 3-7). Also 21 and under are not welcome during that time too. We will have to plan even more in advance if we want to bring either or go elsewhere. Red Eyes Infamous Summertime Sunday Bikini Contest and all day Live Music extravaganza is the absolute biggest party happening within a hundred miles on any given Sunday afternoon. People come from as far as Delaware and Pennsylvania to attend this all day event. The beer is cold, the big name local bands never disappoint, the girls in the crowd are wearing bikini tops & daisy dukes, the guys in the crowd are shirtless, the view right on the water is great, and everyone is having a good time. There's are two ways to arrive at Red Eyes... By water if you own a boat or by land if you own a car or motorcycle. So when you pull up don't be put off by the rows and rows of custom bikes at the walk in entrance. The bikers that hang out here are all a very friendly crowd. One look at the very well trained, very professional, and noticeably present security staff as soon as you walk in and throughout the dock bar should put any doubts you have immediately at ease. Trouble here is seldom, and in the rare instances when someone does get out of hand, they're always quickly dealt with and ushered out the front gate. Food on the weekends is only served off the outdoor grill, so don't expect more than Hotdogs, Hamburgers, etc... They do have a little more extensive menu that's cooked in the kitchen, but I guess that's only available to the Weekday evening crowds. If you get hungry for something more, Harris Crab house is on one side and Annie's is on the other. Despite the motivations of some of the other questionable reviewers handing out a single star reviews, the Bartenders are always attentive and friendly here. With 4 outdoor bars staffed with multiple bar tenders, two girls set up with ice tubs full of cold beer, and a 5th indoor bar too, getting a drink is never a problem even when the place is packed with a few hundred people. If you've never been to Red Eyes, it's definitely worth checking out. And if you've already visited, chances are you'll keep coming back for more! read more

The person on the phone said they could without issue. 1:00pm arrived at Red Eye's via boat (we live in Stevensville) and once off the boat, the bouncers proceeded to explain that there is a $5/person cover for the band. We explained we called and that we were there for lunch only, and that the person on the phone said nothing about a cover, but the bouncers said they had no choice; so one member of our party just decided to pay the $40 in covers instead of leaving. After we sat down and ordered some beverages, I asked for the manager and presented with Lauren (I believe I have the name right). I explained the situation to her, explained that we are local, that we came by boat, and we called first, Lauren said she understood but she would have to check if there was anything she could do for our party. We had our lunch and spent hundreds of dollars, all while having the pleasure of listening to the band set up and conduct sound checks. 3:00pm we finished and requested our check (before the band started playing). Did the manager ever follow-up with me... NO! nothing at all. We regularly (weekly) hit one of the Kent Narrows bars/restaurants by boat with guests of ours that come to visit and play on the water. A stop on the CRUSH BUS tour I actually enjoyed this place. The bartender was friendly, the atmosphere was upbeat and I can tell under better weather conditions it would be cool. However the fried oysters were somewhat nasty and the chicken tasted old. It had me like nah when I wanted to be like yes. 10 of us went to Red Eyes last night to watch the band Defrayal. We found an open picnic table that was actually big enough to fit our whole crew and were looking to order food and cocktails. But instead a waitress came to our table and we were informed that since we didn't go to the hostess stand (no idea we had to do this or where that even was) we had to give up the table. So she made the 10 of us all get up and instead put TWO FREAKIN PEOPLE at that massive table. She wasn't nice about it, either. When we went and found the hostess stand we were told that no more big tables were available. So none of us ate, and we only had a couple rounds of drinks since it took forever to order at the bar. Look, I get that we technically broke the rules, but what kind of training do these people get where they think it's a good idea to move a large party from a large table instead of finding a more suitable spot for those two people? Our tab would've been several hundred bucks easy. Instead the experience left a bad taste in all of our mouths. Positive note: Band was absolutely amazing. Hope we can catch them again. First of all, I was on-site with a client nearby, and recommended a bunch of places around the area, and said that you could not go wrong with any of the places around. I came in not having very high expectations, to be honest. The place itself, looked great, right by the water, nice looking bar by the dock. My co worker and I sat down at the bar, and had beers, and ordered the calamari for an app, and the ahi poke bowl, and fish and chips ( I was in the mood for fried food). The calamari itself took about 15 minutes to come out, and it was probably the worst calamari I've ever had from restaurant/bar, much less from a bar/ restaurant that's near the water. We were starting to wonder about our entrees, after about 45 minutes, when the bartender came and notified us that the kitchen missed our order. He was kind enough to buy us a round of drinks, and apologize for the delay, and said that the food would be coming out in a little bit no worries, as I myself had worked in the restaurant business, and my coworker has owned restaurants. We REALLY appreciate the bartender's gesture. About ten minutes after the bartender first told us of the delay, he did acknowledge that the kitchen totally missed our order. He did offer to give it to us to-go for half the price, but at that point, we really were over the food. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE STAFF WAS REALLY GREAT. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT OUR BARTENDERS. Unfortunately, things happen. What made it disappointing for me is, it wasn't really that busy when we came in (Monday, 5 pm), and they missed our food. My friend and I were trying to think of a spot on the water and knew they were under new management so decided to give them a try! We had a hard time deciding what to get. It ended up being taco Tuesday so we went with the Rockfish tacos which were amazing and split the truffle fries. They were both great! Our waiter was new there of course and very attentive! Venue was much larger than anticipated. Had the jambalaya which was taste and full of chicken, crawfish, shrimp and sausage but that was the best of it. Very mediocre. Wife had street corn... excellent and large portions plus steamed clams. Drinks were about average. Got the bucket drinks and tasted like fruit punch, as if no alcohol was in them.
