DO NOT TRUST DocAir. After Numerous attempts to get a mold/ water issue solved at my home the owner Barry hit a whole new level of unprofessionalism while I was trying to attempt a conversation regarding some work they had (not) done. He hung up on me twice saying "I am done with you," and "well, why dont you just hang up on me then!" He actually started in with name calling; literally. They had been hired to remedy a mold situation, and after they completely missed a moldy area under some stairs, they REFUSE to send me a copy of the original work letter, and a copy of the invoice. He knows that specific area was meant to get addressed and was missed. (He DARED me to file a complaint w/ the BBB) They came out multiple times trying to sell me on a "drain over here," and a "new drain over there" and refused any input from what we suggested was the actual problem. Every attempt at selling me drains was met with his caveat of "I reserve the right to be wrong." To his own defense the owner Barry, claims "I haven't charged you for any of those visits" and then he lead into the issue that he is tired of me calling trying to get the work done that I actually paid for. I invite, and look forward to, a response from him on how he can explain the rudeness and the VERY poor workmanship his team does. The project manager "underbids" the contracts and over charges the customer on the back end. This causes all projects to not be completed in a timely matter This company is disorganized and has a high turnover rate with employees. I hired DocAir to remediate existing mold and install a vapor barrier & dehumidifier system in the crawlspace of a property I recently purchased. My first impression of DocAir was very positive. Thomas, the technician that was dispatched to my property provided a very clear analysis of my issues and plan for remediation, I was receiving regular updates and communication from the office manager-- so I contracted DocAir to move forward with their proposal at the next available opening they had 6 weeks later. Unfortunately, that was one of the last parts of my experience with DocAir that was positive. In the weeks leading up to my installation I received zero communication about the specific start date & time, who my project manager was and how long the job would take to complete--finally prompting me to call their office to get this information after the start date originally quoted to me had passed. The mold guarantee I was sent had the wrong address listed, it took me following up with the office 4 times to finally have this corrected. Shawn and his team did a great job cleaning the mold and installing the vapor barrier but upon completion of this portion I was then made aware that the wiring and completion of the dehumidifier system was done by an entirely different department and someone else would have to come out at a later date to set this up. I received no information from the office as to when this would be scheduled. Several days passed, with still no word, when I finally reached out I was told "this will be completed tomorrow afternoon." No one showed up and no one from the office reached out to me. When I called them they apologized and said they would come out the next day. No one showed up again and again I received no word from the office as to why. As it stands now, I have paid DocAir in full for a job they have yet to complete. The work they do may actually be good but, I would not recommend this company based on their unprofessional lack of respect for their customer's time and failure to properly communicate. Very disappointing end to an experience that started out with a lot of promise. read more

Do not trust DocAir. Project: we signed a contract with DocAir to 1) remove mold; 2) install a new bathroom fan; and 3) paint the bathroom to restore it to its original condition. DocAir cleaned the mold and immediately invoiced for all work. They did not install the fan or paint over where they tried to clean the mold. I escalated the issue to the company's President Barry. He admitted the project was not complete and came over to install the fan. DocAir purchased and installed the wrong fan and again did not paint the room. DocAir refused to complete the project and became non-responsive for months. To protect other customers from DocAir deceit and unprofessional behavior, I submitted a claim to Better Business Bureau. in DocAir's response, they blatantly lie and misrepresent the work they claimed to complete. I responded with the signed contract and photo evidence of the work and email communications highlighting their failure to complete the work. Evaluate and research other vendors before selecting DocAir. From other reviews, there is a track record of the company failing to perform their duties and when they are held accountable, they stop communicating. read more

Thieves about sums it up. Look at these prices. When asked to quoute me for just a positive flow drain, they never called back. Chased them down and said "hey, if the job is just too small, tell me." "Oh no, we do work for $200" they said. Still never called back. Never called once. In short, every other professional who looked at my property has said these guys were trying to fleece me. Not cool. The actual cost to do the job correctly, $1,500. A gardener even pointed out where my water intrusion was. But hey, they can sell you a sump pump for house on a slope if you want to waste your time with these guys. read more

Levels were reading around 5.0 pCi/L during home inspection and are now around 0.7 -- considered safe by both the EPA and World Health Organization. The business was great to work with before we even moved in and handled both the estimate and installation when our house was vacant. Entire project to ventilate under the slab cost $1,890 -- quite reasonable given the amount of expertise involved. You can barely hear the fan even outside the house and we sleep much better knowing the radon isn't building up inside. read more

We asked 3 different companies for quotes to do some foundation work and encapsulate the crawlspace, and got wildly different prices for both jobs. I definitely recommend getting multiple quotes and asking as many questions as you can about what is what is not included, no matter what. While we went with a different company for the foundation work, DocAir gave a great quote and scope of work for the encapsulation. In the end, we didn't do their recommended "storm water management", as we had only minor water intrusion from the outside, but a lot of water coming from condensation on the air vents from the incredibly high humidity in the crawlspace (over 90% humidity constantly during the summer), which was also soaking and warping the wood support beams and floor joists and getting behind the insulation. We did: 1) fungus remediation, which included the tedious and hard work of removing a huge amount of dirty and wet insulation under the floorboards, 2) trenching the edges of the crawlspace and installing drain pipes and a sump pump, and 3) encapsulation with dehumidifier (drains into the sump pump), which also included sealing points of entry like pipes and external vents. Note that the other quotes were more expensive and did not even include removing insulation or treating fungus (companies often expect you to hire someone else to do that before they start work). To set expectations, they are quite busy so be patient. It took about a month to get scheduled and another month for them to come out and do the work. A two-man team (Joselino and Orlando) did all the work over 3 days, and they were professional, polite, thorough, and did incredibly high quality work. I had the plumbing inspected before they came to ensure no pipes would leak into the encapsulated space, but they still found a leaky coupling and replaced it! DocAir supplies a remote temperature and humidity meter as well so you can continually compare the house to the crawlspace (you can check the outside weather report for another comparison). It's winter now, but we've recently had a few very rainy days with humidity reaching up to 94% outside. The crawlspace humidity has steadily decreased from 55% immediately after installation to 45% (very good!), and the house/crawlspace temperatures have been within about 5 degrees of each other. This suggests that the crawlspace is effectively insulated from outside temperature and humidity. Also, you can optionally have them come inspect the system every 6 months (for $60 a visit) to ensure everything is still working correctly, change the dehumidifier filter, etc. I plan to do this to make sure everything is still working well with the combined effects of humidity and my AC vents! read more

I had a really positive experience with Doc Air. I hired them to do mold remediation in my crawl space, and then a full encapsulation including installing a dehumidifier. The crew that worked on both projects were incredibly friendly and polite, and accomplished a lot in a short amount of time. They did a detailed job on the encapsulation and even within a week I've seen the humidity level decrease in my crawl space and I'm not getting musty odors in my house like I used to. I appreciated the flexibility in being able to choose the thickness of the plastic that I wanted, depending on my budget. TERRIBLE COMPANY! DO NOT HIRE! A professional noticed that our radon mitigation system wasn't installed properly (it wasn't actually pushing the radon away at all) so we called Doc Air to fix their mistake of improper installation. I explained our concern but Diane showed zero lack of remorse or urgency and said someone would be there in a few days to fix the problem. And she said we must have requested it to be installed improperly... Umm, no we did not. And why would a professional company agree to push harmful radon at ppl's homes upon request anyway? So I called the day the were suppose to show and Diane said no one was available and we would have to wait another three days. I called back to ask for the owner of the company and Diane hung up on me. Diane is extremely unprofessional! When calling her out on the fact that she wasn't being truthful when mentioning the homeowners requested improper installation she said "I will not be called a liar" and hung up the phone again. So needless to say, this family run business sucks and should not be running. If you care about your family's health STAY AWAY. read more

Our property along with three others had erosion due to storm water drainage issues. After talking with several companies, we chose Docair. Barry Westbrook from Docair was quick to respond and excellent in determining the problem and explaining the solution. The other firms though quick to come, were extremely slow in answering questions and getting back to us with a bid. Docair kept us informed throughout the process as to when people would arrive, etc. Edgar Alvarado, the foreman, was excellent. He and Docair's workers were quick and involved us throughout the process of storm water management for our four properties. The project was very successful and the erosion has stopped. We hired DocAir to mitigate radon in our house, because Diane was very easy to work with. However, when things went wrong, the experience was horrendous. The initial radon reading was at 4.1. After their mitigation, the radon level went UP to over 15. We spoke with several people at DocAir, from Jeff and Mike, the technicians, to Barry, the owner. Everyone proposed a different solution on mitigating the issue, with no consistency. Despite initially proposing a non-invasive solution of digging deeper to pull in more air from the soil, they backed out and refused to go with that proposal. Additionally, the work was very shoddy, leaving unsightly holes inside and outside of our home. Both Mike and Barry became very threatening towards the end of our conversations, making us feel like we are at a used car dealership. Don't be fool by their initial interactions, they are complete nightmares to deal with after they have received your money. read more

Doc Air encapsulated our crawl-space & installed a de-humidifier 3 years ago and it's been working great ever since. Since it's been a few years, I called them last Wed the Jan, 21st 2015 to schedule an air-quality test. With a little one in the house, I just wanted peace of mind that our quality of air is sound. Diane in the main office was wonderful to deal with and Mike arrived later that morning. He was prompt and is a pleasure to deal with as well. Though he explained it might take as much as a week to get the results back, I got them back today(1/26/15) a couple of days early and all is good. So my experience with the company, from the major job they did for me 3 years ago, to a simple air-quality test has been very positive at every step along the way. We obtained two estimates and DocAir came in $800 less than one of their competitors so we decided to use them for that reason as well as our realtor has a history with them and she highly recommended their services. As we readied our home for sale, we had several problem areas to address before placing it on the market, but within the company there was disagreement as to what was to be done and we found an unwillingness to accept the professional input from an external expert engineer. Their price for some of the work to be done was 2.5 times higher than the competition and they kept skirting requests for a listing of the scope of the work to be done on the one key job that we wanted accomplished. One issue which they "repaired", didn't correct the problem at all, and when we balked, they said they'd "make it right" and sent the crew in to do something different, then charged us twice for the work. The second time, the problem was corrected. On another aspect of the work, their crew knocked out the power to one side of our home and they refused to honor our request to ask an electrician to find the problem and correct it. Sorry to be so negative about a company that was recommended to us by the best realtors in town, but buyer beware certainly applies here. The workers were very pleasant, they left everything clean.
