Servers in the bar! Great beer options, TV's in the bar. Close to downtown! Food looks AMAZING!

We had the cheddar fritters, a burger, and fries. Everything was delicious and arrived quickly.

Whenever we're in the Stowe area, we always find our way to Doc Ponds. The menu is simple, but the food is consistently delicious. A few weeks ago, we were in town and ended up visiting twice, both times for lunch. I ordered the smash burger on our first visit and the tostadas on the second, and both were great. The smash burger was delicious and exactly what I needed to satisfy my greasy cravings. We also ordered fries for the table, which were served with a delicious mayo-based sauce. The tostadas were on the lighter side but still packed with flavor! Although we were seated right away on both visits, our food took at least 30 minutes to arrive each time. To make matters worse, a family seated next to us - who arrived at least 10 minutes after we did - received their food before us, even though many of their meals were the same as ours. The service also wasn't the best - which seems to be typical. On both occasions, the servers didn't seem particularly happy to be working. That said, we still enjoyed our meals and the cozy atmosphere. The wood-burning fireplace really makes the space feel warm and homey. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area and am hoping for a better experience next time.

Service was attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. Everything was clean and esthetically pleasant. Inside was a bit dark for a sunny 11am day in July, but other than that, I was super impressed with everything.

Good spot. The weight took some time. I really liked chicken sandwich. A ton of chicken. I love the sliced pickles. I like a lot more than the burger. We got a double patty. Burger and the patties are way too thick. It was way too much meat and the balance was off. I will get a single patty. The fries are OK. A little soft. The maple pie was insane. So tasty and a must do in Vermont. The meat salad was nothing special. Didn't really taste like anything.

A really solid place to visit. Really enjoyed our time here. Good food and good selection of beers. Kids menu was also available at a decent price. Would have loved to sit outside as it was such a nice day out however all the seats were already taken. The Caesar salad was nicely dressed and crisp. The breadcrumbs topping made it nice and crunchier. The wings were very good - fresh, with awesome smoky/sweet flavour. Highly recommend! Great service provided too, our waitress was really friendly.

Food was phenomenal. Staff is very friendly. They have a plethora of vinyls and a sound table with record players. Great vibes. We had the chicken sandwich, the burger, and macaroni and cheese.

Got the mac and cheese and beet salad to share for two as a light lunch. The beet salad had an unreal dressing on it that was light, and the beets were fresh and sooo tasty. Wouldve loved for the salad to be a bit bigger though. The mac and cheese was incredible, it had panko crumbs on top, adding a crunch. Although we did not try any beverages, they had plenty of beers on top in addition to alcohol free drinks, and milk milkshakes. Nice spot, easy parking in the lot, and great vibes.

This place rocks!! The food was good and servings were large. The sevice was good and ambiance was as well. This was our last night in Stowe, so I am glad we had a good meal for our last meal.

a hipster bar spot with some yummy food options! We ordered the fried chicken sandwich - the fried chicken was perfectly cripsy and paired well with the maple mayo. I just wish it was bigger! We also ordered the baked VT cheddar mac and cheese - it was just okay. I liked the noodles but the dish overall was just bland. The Caesar salad was super crunchy and loved the sauce and cheese ratio. We had a slice of pie and the daily pick was the maple nut - YUM! So sweet and delicious, paired well with the whipped cream on the side. Service was very chill and efficient!

Doc ponds is my favorite restaurant in the Stowe area. Very cool vibe that actually plays vinyl LP's. Outstanding tunes, drinks and food.

We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Not bad at all!! Our server was energetic and accommodating. She cheerfully answered all our questions and honored our request to get a margherita pizza as an appetizer. The aforementioned pizza arrived in no time. It was good. Not the best ever, but still quite solid. The star of the culinary show was the salmon entree. Both my wife and I got it and we both loved it. It was a big piece of wood fired salmon and came with a nice assortment of roasted veggies. I'm talking real veggies--zucchini, broccoli, fingerling potatoes, the works. Neither one of us are big drinkers, but there are LOTS of microbrews on tap if you're into that kind of thing. The dining room was lively without being too noisy. Both of us enjoyed hanging out there. It would be a great place to have a beer and watch baseball on TV. Will definitely return the next time I'm in town.

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

For a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast who happily spends weekends wrestling with a stubborn transmission, this should be absolute nirvana. It has all the makings of the coolest venue in Stowe. Sadly, the execution is a tragic misfire. The primary reason for this failure is the owner, Chris, whose approach to hospitality borders on outright hostility. Our evening began innocently enough. I arrived with a group of ten friends, mostly local Vermonters in our late twenties and early thirties. My fiancée is thirty-three but routinely gets carded for looking younger. It is a perfectly normal procedure. She handed over her legitimate Vermont ID, it was scanned, and we proceeded to order. Then came our twenty-five-year-old friend, visiting from California. Upon inspecting his out-of-state license, Chris abruptly decided the ID was a forgery. Without a shred of preamble, he confiscated the card and unleashed a barrage of expletives, loudly demanding that our entire group leave the premises immediately. At first, we assumed he was joking. When it became clear he was entirely serious, we politely pointed out that our friend had a flight home the next day and strictly required his identification to travel. Chris responded by threatening to call the police. We actively encouraged this, calmly suggesting that law enforcement could easily verify the license and resolve the misunderstanding. Faced with a group of composed patrons actively inviting police verification, the owner seemed to short-circuit. He threw the license at us and continued to shout. As a bizarre parting shot, when one of my friends calmly asked for an explanation, Chris pointed at my fiancée and aggressively voiced his disbelief that she could possibly be thirty-three years old. Alfie's possesses the raw architectural potential to be a brilliant, vibrant space. Yet, if you walk past, you will notice it is often inexplicably dead. After suffering through this particular brand of toxic behavior, the mystery of its chronic emptiness is entirely solved. If you find yourself in Stowe, you would do well to keep your foot down and drive straight past it.
