But upon completion back in September, Dan stated he would seal at no cost "a month after" - that didn't happen. His commit to doing so is the only reason we didn't do it. As a result, it got beat up with the constant weather events and will need to be resurfaced. But second: we contracted with him to do a gutter replacement well in advance of the forth coming rain. It took almost 4 months before he showed. He offered a discount off of the price; then when he finally did show, he only removed some of the existing gutter and left without installing any new. He even left his ladder behind for some reason. Multiple emails for followup status have gone unanswered. It's the lack of communication and unfinished task (which can cause roof damage) that forces star drop. Previously he had indicated that they moved "far up north" - so it's possible he needed to change his service area but hasn't. That's on the business though; if you accept a job and money for the job, you complete the job as agreed. Which might mean something as simple as booking a hotel nearby for a week until the job is done or something.

Rather than do unnecessary work (which would have benefited him), he gave his honest opinion, which benefited me. And rather than grouse for having to leave with no hope for financial gain, he was pleasant and seemed happy to give the advice. It was a great example of trying to benefit the customer.
