In February 2024 signed a contract with Kody for a wood deck replacement to trex composite. This would include stair replacement as well. Planned to come out 2/27 to start project texted the day of and said another issue came up with a prior job site and they wouldn't be out. Showed up on 2/29 at about 10am worked 4 hours and left. Showed up on 3/1 at about noon worked about 5 hours. 3/5 wanted me to do a walk through as he thought he would be done that day I hesitated but agreed as I needed to go to work. Another mistake I made. The following day I noticed multiple things that needed to be corrected stair railing not screwed together in places, missing screws in boards, screw plugs missing, post rail missing, bad seam on the fascia board looked bad, I texted Kody who was having surgery and would be unavailable for a week or so but would come fix issues when recovered. 3/15 was supposed to come fix issues didn't come out. 3/23 had to text for follow up. 4/5 again had to text for follow up. 4/8 showed up to fix railing in the process of taking the railing off slightly bent one of the spindles, didn't fix other issues he needed to order stuff to finish fixing or replace. 5/1 supposed to come out sometime during the week did not show, again had to text to see when he was coming back. 5/23 had to text again on when he was coming to fix the issues, said he could come out the following week. I was going to be gone so had to make it 2 weeks later. 6/6 showed up to fix issues had to leave within an hour to get a new drill bit. Pointed out the bent stair railing spindle he didn't think he had done it when he took it down but agreed to replace the railing. Almost 5 months later haven't heard from him about fixing this. All in all the deck work that was done was very poorly done for being a professional. This wasn't the cheapest quote nor was it the most expensive but because of this company I will be hesitant to use small companies because Kody has given small businesses a terrible reputation. Poor workmanship, lack of communication and not trustworthy. Do your research Kody may have done good work at some point but this year his worked didn't measure up. read more

Kody and the whole crew completed a stunning and custom deck on our property in NW suburbs. We had three other deck companies come give bids and in the end all four were fairly comparable. But Kody at Barefoot was the only company that actually provided design consultation and advice on how to build our custom deck. The crew was friendly, professional, and safe. Kody coordinated all permits and paperwork. We had no problem trusting all employees on our property during the day while we were at work. But most importantly, the end result is absolutely perfect. I've posted pictures for reference. We selected Trex composite naturals in Rocky Harbor with the black aluminum railing system. The boards are placed on a diagonal with a center board. The new deck which Barefoot Decks built for me a couple of months ago turned out fantastic. Everything about the experience was first class.I gave them a 5 star review at that time. During the last couple of months a couple of the boards (treated lumber) warped and needed to be replaced. I called Kody and they came out and replaced the boards. No problems. Warped boards are not their fault but they want you to have a first class deck. They were just so helpful, making sure that everything about the deck was perfect. I requested a quote for an upcoming project we are doing to expand our deck. The owner came out and did measurements and told me He would send the quote out in a few days. A week later, still no response so I call and get I touch with one of the owners. He said he would get back to me and never did. We had our Trex deck built in May this year. This was our 1st time having a deck built, and the professionalism received from Bob & Kodi was horrible. On several occasions Bob & Kodi were quick to discredit another decking company we were originally looking to go with. Saying the other company was a horrible and their quality of decking is poor (even though they were also another Trex builder). At the beginning of our project we were told not to "micromanage them", even though we wanted to be kept in the loop of the status of our project because we've gotten burned in the past by others. In turn, our deck was shorted 1.5 ft on the width because they did not double check their measurements. They just went off the specs that were on another company's quote, which Bob offered to price match. We discovered the shortage after measuring our deck for new outside furniture. After the deck was built, we were told they would lay grass seed down on the areas that were turned up from the digging. That was never done. We followed up with Bob & Kodi a couple days after the deck was completed, but it took them several days to get back to us. Bob tried to rectify the shortage of our deck and offered us a discounted quote for a rain drainage system to go under the deck; and said he would get us the quote within a few days. Several emails were sent after that discussion, with no responses. 6 months later, we still have not received that quote or any other form of communication from Bob or Kodi. ALSO, I found out from my builder that Barefoot Decking did not reinstall my siding correctly and will most likely now cause a leak in my basement this winter.... NEVER AGAIN!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!! read more
