The food has always been amazing, but now I don't have to do 2 hours of research to see if the truck is out to eat it whenever I want. The drinks are strong. Plus they have Club Mate - the greatest beverage ever invented. The space is cozy, the staff amazing, and it's not far from my house. It's the perfect addition to the neighbourhood - oh and in case you couldn't tell from all the extra U's in my words, I'm Canadian, so having a place that serves poutine and caesers nearby is a god damn dream. read more

I've heard rave reviews about the food from the DMen truck and my boyfriend surprised me and took me to the DMen Tap for a relaxing date night. The environment is relaxing, inviting and the music being played was awesome. Gotta love the consistency between 3 Floyds & DMen tap with the vinyl! Great touch, guys. The seating area is limited, however, I wasn't expecting this to be a restaurant so it was more than enough and it was comfortable. The artwork on the walls is pretty bad ass to check out while you drink and/or eat. The food/beer will not leave you disappointed! I was so excited to try the poutine since I had never tried it before, only heard about it. Between my boyfriend and I, we ordered the poutine, Doner salat, and Doner kebab. Everything was phenomenal. Seriously, so damn delicious. I love the fact that they offer vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options as well. I don't live close to this area, but this is well worth the travel for me. I look forward to coming back with friends for a chill night of drinks and good eats! You're doing great, DMen! Much love from Chris & Carmen (Tabb's familia). read more

So, I did not go to the bar - I'm sure that it was fine. Beer is beer, right? I'm a believer that there's a space in the world for food trucks, and a space in the world for restaurants. Food trucks are convenient, but have a limited menu. Restaurants are less convenient, but have a more extensive menu. Food trucks congregate so that everyone can find something to eat, somewhere. Restaurants have a wide enough selection that everyone can find something to eat, right there. DMen Tap is a food truck-turned-restaurant that didn't get the memo that the menu needs to be more expansive than a food truck. Looking at the 3-item menu, I didn't see anything I had any interest in eating. They were quick to point out that they had vegan options too, but basically every menu item consists of: - A meat (or vegan meat substitute) with curry sauce - some salady-type stuff - a starch (either fries or bread) Want a burger? Nope, not on the menu. Want schnitzel? Nope. Salad? No way. For what it's worth, the Spouse liked his food, even though it came with stuff on the side he had to pick out (tomatoes, etc.). So the food they have is good. Hopefully as they get more business and expand, they'll also expand the menu. If that happens, I'll be back. read more

TL;DR: Food good but limited options, expensive everything, 6ft high counter to order from is stupid. These guys have a long way to go if they're going to make it even a year. They don't seem to understand a restaurant is different than a food truck. The food ordering process is simply stupid, as you stand next to a counter which is ~6ft tall, talking to a not so friendly women who can hardly hear you due to the vertical distance away. Even payment is difficult as you can't reach the tablet to sign (assuming you've paid by credit), the women attempts to hand it down to you so the transaction can be completed. Once your buzzer goes off indicating your food is ready, you back to the same idiotically high window and attempt the balancing act of food transfer with hopes of not dropping your food from as high as you can extend your arms. Don't forget to grab napkins too, because why would you expect a restaurant to have napkins available where you are sitting..... just stupid. Next, you are forced to find a seat at the bar (since they removed the majority of tables that used to reside in this place when it was Square Bar) if you plan on sitting, otherwise you will have to stand next to these very small shelves that run along the east wall, so everyone in your group can stare at the wall together. Drinks, great idea! Note that you will have to open a separate tab at the bar since the billing system is inexplicably not connected to the bar system. Perhaps it's somehow interrupted by the record player used for their music, which was clearly more of a focus than restaurant logistics. Food: the silver lining of this place. Although you are limited to only a couple options (again, they don't understand that this isn't a truck and they can make use of a full kitchen), it is very good. I would recommend simply grabbing your order to go and getting out as fast as you can to avoid the logistical nightmare. Be prepared to be paying hefty prices for everything. For 2 people, ordering a Donor each, side fries and 1 beer, I spent just under $50. This is far higher than it should be for what they have to offer. read more

Went here for the first time last week. Brought my neighborhood crush. She thought I was hip cuz it had just opened. It was a Friday evening. The place is a little small/intimate. Not a ton of tables, but we managed to snag a couple of spots on the back rail by the kitchen ordering window (they could use some hooks for jackets under the rail, that'd be nice). Anyway, the ambiance was solid. A little dim, but there was a nice energy, and the music wasn't too loud. Couldn't place the style they were going for. It was kind of German, and kind of punk, but the music wasn't. You order drinks at the bar, and food at the kitchen window. We shared the currywurst and the poutine. We both really liked the currywurst; good complementary flavors. The poutine was okay; the gravy was a little runny, and the cheese curds seemed just thrown in, some of em were a little cold, others were melty. The old fashioned was solid, and they had a nice selection of beer, albeit they charge a bit more for a beer than I'd like. Otherwise, solid joint. Get the Currywurst (or should they call it the curry-best?). read more

Delicious food, fun environment with great community events, family friendly. There's also a secret kids meal menu item if you ask. Neighborhood staple! read more

I went here and presented my municipal ID, which is a completely valid form of governmental identification intended to serve populations historically unable to access identification (e.g. homeless people, undocumented people, veterans): https://www.chicityclerk.com/municipal-id-card The bartender ultimately let me stay, but she gave us a ton of trouble and said they aren't supposed to let people in with these IDs. I tried to challenge her and explain that denying the ID would be discriminatory. But when I said that, a few patrons at the bar actually tried to start a fight lol. Will not be coming back here. read more

Wow! Right now I'm eating an amazing kebab served by some great people, as they accommodate our group of six at a large table in the back playing Dungeons and Dragons! So happy that a place like this exists, and right here in my neighborhood. Owners and staff are fantastic, prices are excellent, and the food is second to none. We will be back for another long session soon! read more

Enjoyed trivia, dinner, and drinks with friends on a Tuesday night. Doner box was a great call, super unique flavors, nice portion size. Can't wait to come back and try more! read more

Great place. Nice beer selection. Good food. Cool staff.

Our favorite bar in the entire city. Great vibes, drinks, and food and amazing staff. Always interesting beers on tap. Old video games in the back room. read more

Went in for a beer. Talked with the manager Davereally cool guy gave me the rundown on the crazy D&D decor. Great beer selection really cool ambiance. Where else's Dan you drink under the overseeing cyclops eye of a purple beast? (Great story behind the origin & hidden function of this monster.) Doner Kabobs are awesome here. I'll definitely go back. read more

I came here with a couple friends on a Monday night. We sat at the bar and got a beer and then went to the food window to order dinner. The place is dimly lit and a casual bar to meet up with friends or first time dates. The bartender was nice, but a bit slow on the refill. The food window in the back is next to their menu. It's short, sweet and to the point. You can get a doner wrap type thing which is huge, and my friend said was really good. You can those ingredients also in a box, salad, and bowl, as well. I tried the box and it was a good flavor. Very different. Next time I order, I'll be sure to ask for more sauce. I also tried the currywurst. The sausage was very good. Growing up in a German family, it's always impressive to find something authentic. That came with fries and curry sauce. Most of the sauce settled at the bottom, so I had to make sure to get everything to touch the bottom. I probably would ask for extra sauce on the side to ensure optimal coverage. The sauce was very flavorful, but it didn't have a spice. It would be nice to have a mild and spicy option for the sauce. The portions are a good size for the price you pay. I also saw they had poutine on the menu which I would be interested in trying some other time. read more

Worst cocktails I've ever had. They were so bad that my boyfriend and I had to painfully force ourselves to drink half before calling it quits. We had their Christmas themed drinks so maybe the bartenders weren't used to making those? Either way, there's no excuse to make drinks that horrible. We got 2 different drinks and they were equally as bad. They should at least test the drinks before putting them on a menu and serving it to customers. So I would say, stick with the beer at this bar because it's hard to mess those up. We didn't try to the food so I can't comment about that, however we looked at their menu and everything was ridiculously overpriced. I'm definitely never coming back! read more

A fun place for simple food and good beer. Order your drinks at the bar and food at the window. It is a limited menu. We shared the doner meat in a wrap and one in the wonderful pita with a side of curry fries. It is excellent food at a great price. We will be back! read more

Consistently good food in the neighborhood. I like the doner box with chicken and the curry fries. Easy take-out too.

Oh, the Doner. How beautiful you are. Donermen serving up their food (via food truck window) at this new spot with a killer beer selection is freaking awesome. I like their Doner Box the best - its like a the sandwich without the wrap, topped with fries, and also the classic wrap does not disappoint. You also have to get the curry fries. You can order delivery too and it does not disappoint either! read more

I just stopped in to pick up some food from the takeout window they have at the back of the bar. A friendly smallish neighborhood spot, but more importantly the food was delicious. I've been looking around Chicago for really good Doner Kebob for a while, and finally found it when I tried the Doner Men food truck. And now they have an establishment where I can get it whenever I want. read more

I've been hitting up their food truck on UChicago campus for at least a couple of years now, and I'm super glad they finally opened a brick-and-mortar. The food remains excellent, but I was even more pleased with the excellent beer and cocktail selection. Various 3Floyds I haven't seen anywhere else, interesting saisons and barley wine-styles. A great bar with the added benefit of a built in food from one of the city's best trucks. read more

Can't say enough great things about this place! My coworkers & I were blown away by the service of DMen Tap during our first session of playing D&D. They have such a cool & clean space with a top notch beer selection & the poutine is out of this world. I can't wait to try the donner kebab on my next visit. Loved the vibe in there with vinyl spinning on the turntable & excited this place is right in my 'hood! Thanks DMen for being so accommodating & we'll surely be back! read more

Four of us were told it would be an hour wait at Kuma's Corner so we ventured across the street to DMen Tap. Staff were friendly and music was interesting... a range from Jeff Beck to the Dixie Cups. They have half-off late happy hour Sunday-Thursday 8pm-10pm and drinks were excellent! For five drinks, it was just under $30 including tax and tip. They poured very heavy for the knob creek rocks I ordered and made me the best Caesar I've ever had. They have a variety of unique beers available that will suit anyone's drinking palate. I didn't get to try the food but the doner fries and currywurst looked amazing - I will be back for these. read more

Great food and atmosphere. Rotating beer selection seems to be good, a new favorite spot for me. I highly recommend the domer box, super good! read more

Sooo, Dmen was hosting an "event" featuring 3 Floyds brewing vs. Pipeworks brewing, ( a fight to the impaired! , and may the best man win..) We went over by there to see what we could see. Well, we saw things. ( Mainly lots of guys, with beards, drinking beer). The music and wall art are kind of intense, like my sister. It's supposed to be D & D themed, which, to the best of my knowledge, it probably is. (Lightning Bolt!) (I'm referring to that Lightning Bolt! video, fyi.) The beer was evanescent. We didn't get the food, but I've had a Doner kebab from their food truck, and it was amazing. So, it's kinda fun. Give it a try. read more

Love this bar. Walked in by accident, and they were playing one of my favourite songs. The poutine was delicious. I will be back.

A+ doner, friendly atmosphere, free video games in the back room. Pretty sure I just died and went to heaven.

Y'all rock real hard. The Happy Hour deal is great. 1/2 off quality beers, like 3 Floyds. This place is relatively new, so come in and show it some love. Their kitchen is open til midnight, which is amazing. Good German street food, quality beers, and to top it off they play vinyl. I mean come on go and check them out already! read more

This place rules! The truck was great as it was but this was a great addition. I smell empire! Its cool not to be hassled by a server as you can order as you feel. Great idea that I have seen done at other places. The music was tight they play records, and have very eclectic taste. The day I came in they were spinning the new xx before it was released into Nigerian funk into Peter Gabriel era Genesis! I see these guys sticking around and growing with the neighborhood! read more

Enjoyed a delicious curry wurst while sipping a limited edition Three Floyd's IPA in a comfy booth on a cold, grey evening- what more could you ask for?! Great food, great beer, great atmosphere. Plus, really nice, clean bathrooms. And I brought my baby- he liked it, too. read more

I went to this restaurant nostalgically hoping to capture some memories of one of the foods I grew up with, doner sandwiches. Ordering at the window is awkward due to it's height even though I stand a 6'. Not a big deal. I feel bad for the order taker who has to lean out of the window to hold the pad for you to sign for every credit transaction. I sat on the cushioned booth which sunk me too low for the tall table. Cool if you want to feel like a little kid at the grown up table but I switched to a stool. I ordered the beef and lamb doner sandwich with a side of small fries. The food was brought to me by the server. The sandwich was open faced on a square "pita" bread with the meat and veggies on top sitting on foiled paper. The fries were in a small paper tray with sauce on them. It's a doner sandwich so I wrapped it up with the foil at one end and started eating it like a doner sandwich... with my hands. Very tasty and very... cold. The fries on the other hand were piping hot. My guess is the sandwich was made and it sat waiting for the fries. Sitting open and not wrapped didn't help with the heat loss. Some of the meat was refrigerator cold. I would recommend wrapping it up (like in the picture on the wall!) while the pita and meat is pipping hot and served that way so it retains the heat better. The amount of meat was also disappointing. It's should be the star of this dish. At $12 for the sandwich, and $3 for a relatively small amount of fries, it didn't feel like I got my money's worth, especially meat wise. The fries and sauce were excellent. The sandwich, although cold, was tasty. The meat was somewhat overcooked and just a little dry but decent. The lettuce, tomatoes etc. were fresh. Cool bar, cool music. This place definitely deserves another visit. read more

Love this place! The vibe is casual and relaxed and the food is so so good. I have ordered the salat, wrap, and Poutine. It's amazing food with Great quality. I'm really happy this place opened up! read more

Was waiting for this to happen! Donermen in one spot!! Try the currywurst w/fries! Good beer.....Great food.....Awesome service!

Hmm. I'm not sure here. Dmen seems to be going for kind of a rocker thing, yet it has a very yuppie feel to it. Even the "rocker" staff are only rockers in that Chicago kind of way - they all look the same, are in a clique, have the same boring tattoos, etc. At that point, they're just boring self-satisfied yuppies. Don't get me wrong, it's not some horrible place. It just seems a bit contrived and like it's a place for tattooed yuppies. read more

Pretty just ok place. I went for a tap takeover and the beers were nice but I never had the food. But I would go back.

Tasty food and friendly service. Their beer selection has a lot to offer and you can customize most all of the food items. The traditional doner kebab is incredible! read more

A quirky down to earth bar that has great beer and curry wurst??? Easy 5/5.

We ordered the curry fries from the food truck. The spices were good and the fries were good quality.

This is my favorite bar in the city. All of the staff is amazing, the food is outstanding, they always have good beers and cider on tap and sometimes they even have mead. They don't have kombucha on tap but If they did they'd be perfect. *chef's kiss* read more

My boyfriend and I stopped in here a couple of weeks ago for dinner. The food options were delicious but limited. I really enjoyed the cheese curds. If you like their food truck and you don't mind eating food that will likely give you a heart attack then this is your spot. We sat at the bar and the service was fine. The beer selection was pretty good. My only complaint would be that they need to have more non-IPA beers on tap. I would definitely come back. read more
