During the USA vs. Australia match, a buddy of mine and I decided to grab some food. Funny enough, we actually met while traveling through Europe, only to find out we both live in Chicago. He lives in Logan Square and had been to The Harding Tavern a few times, so when he recommended it, I didn't hesitate. We've eaten our way through a good chunk of Europe together, so I knew his recommendation wasn't going to miss. I kept my order simple, or so I thought. I went with the buffalo chicken wrap. At first glance, you'd probably think, "Safe choice. It'll be good, but nothing special." I can confidently say that's the wrong way to look at this wrap. I'll be the first to admit that I don't usually order wraps. One of the biggest reasons is that so many places struggle to make every bite consistent. Too often you get one bite that's all lettuce, another that's mostly tortilla, and another that's just chicken. A great wrap should give you a little bit of everything in every bite, and that's exactly what they do here. The buffalo wrap isn't overloaded with ingredients, but it doesn't need to be. The chicken is cooked perfectly with a light coating that's still crispy while staying incredibly tender and juicy. The buffalo sauce ties everything together without overpowering the wrap, and every ingredient complements the next. It's a simple wrap that's executed exceptionally well, and honestly, one of the best buffalo chicken wraps I've ever had. It might even be the best. The day couldn't have worked out much better. The USA beat Australia 2-0, I got to catch up with a good friend, and I found another spot that's earned a return visit. I'd come back for the wrap alone, but the whole experience made it even better. I'll definitely be back, and I already know I'll be bringing friends and family with me. Until next time! read more

I was really looking forward to some classic fish and chips tonight, especially since The Harding Tavern advertises using cod. Unfortunately, what I received was almost certainly not cod, but rather the much cheaper and, frankly, much less appealing swai. While the portion was generous, which is usually a plus, the texture and mild, somewhat muddy flavor were dead giveaways. Swai is a bottom-feeder, and it often has a distinct, watery mouthfeel that's just not what you expect from good fish and chips. It's truly disappointing when a place tries to pass off a lower-quality fish as something it's not. For those who don't know swai, I highly recommend doing a quick search before you encounter it disguised as something else. It's just not in the same league as cod, and if you're expecting the latter, you're going to be let down. This place really needs to be more honest about their ingredients. Two stars for the ample serving, but a significant deduction for the fish fraud. read more

Stopped in to The Harding Tavern after happy hour at the Consignment Lounge. We grabbed a booth and the server greeted us and brought us waters immediately. He was very attentive. I got the crispy bbq burger, which was absolutely delicious! The fries were crispy and fresh as well. My friend got the fish and chips and she said it was flakey and fresh as well. The ambiance around isn't much to look at, but it's a typical bar. Overall, I think worth the prices especially since the service was great. Came here on a freezing cold December day to meet friends for lunch. Place was warm and cozy. Lunch deep is great for $13 you get a burger, fries, soda . You can get any hand held for same price. I'm usually a smash burger fan but the specialty burger was sooo good , very juicy . I are the whole thing and I never do that. Friends got chicken sandwich which they liked and it was huge . Forever delish , lots of beer options but their tap beer is mostly craft . I thought $7 for a garage beer tap was a bit high but it seemed like all taps were priced at $7 and up. Service was chill. We came in late, kinda bar hopping in the area; we enjoyed our Martinis, the TV's were easy to watch and hear. Waitress was funny and friendly. Space was typical; nothing special, it was spacious, we sat at a high top in the corner. We only ate fries, they were hot & crispy; we enjoyed them! Stumbled upon The Harding Tavern while discovering a new area and we are so glad we did. The Fish and Chips were truly the best so far, the batter was cooked perfectly and the fish so fresh and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka was so delicious. The Harding Tavern is located on Milwaukee just south of Diversey, and is just around the corner from one of the entrances to the Logan Square - CTA Blue Line station. According to its website The Harding Tavern is named after The Harding Theater, which was at this spot from 1925 to 1963 (how about that?). My love and I have been to THT a couple of times, once for happy hour beers and once for a casual dinner with peeps. The beer list is pretty good with rotating drafts, such as a Revolution Oktoberfest special. There are lots of TV's showing sports if that is your jam. The service for our weeknight party of six dinner was quite good, as we snared a table right away and our water glasses were filled nonstop. If I counted correctly, five of us had burgers with fries, and the other ordered a flatbread that was the thickest flatbread that I have ever seen. My Crispy BBQ burger featured a load of fried onions (yum) and white cheddar and bacon too, but only a squirt of BBQ sauce. God, I love me some dive bars, more so when they're located in centralized locations i.e. on a major street, sandwiched between two train stops. The Harding Tavern is so much more than your average dive bar, though. With dine-in seating, you have premium beer/cocktail options on top of meals fit for any type of day. Their tap options are stacked, in my opinion. They have a rotating 'pint of the month' that highlights an alluring $5 price tag. Special mention, these guys have Goose Island Bourbon County stout on tap, which, to me, is incredible. I'm never in the market to buy a full bottle of one of these drinks, so a 10 oz pour is just right. The tavern itself is pretty compact, with the bar area located in the middle of everything, so it's pretty easy to get a tender's attention. Service is always prompt no matter the time of day. Brunch deals are available with their complimentary mimosas with a brunch entree purchased and a $38 package deal that includes a bottle of bubbly + OJ. I think the THT is a solid option to grab a drink in Logan Square. Great to bring some friends, to bring a first date, or to just grab a drink and watch a sports ball game alone. No judgment! Its accessibility alone to the NW side of the city is reason enough to check this bar out. read more

The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary. They charge you for any substitution. Example, my entree had honey mustard and I cannot eat that so I asked for the herb aioli instead and got charged a buck. Not that a buck is expensive but I think it's a bit silly. The service on the other hand was not the greatest. We had empty glasses of coke and it took them essentially until we were done with our meals to recognize and to offer us a refill. I had walked by The Harding Tavern a number of times and had always wanted to stop by. Situated just next to a CTA -Blue Line stop, it is very convenient for those visiting via train. As this place does not take reservations, we expected to have to wait, but were pleasantly surprised when we were seated right away. The space itself is a lot smaller than I thought it would be, with (4 person) booth seating throughout. I believe they had a few larger tables for a bigger group, but not too many. When we were there, it appeared to be only the one waitress working. With that said she did a great job managing all of the tables, and being attentive enough. Being as though we went for brunch, we could not turn down the chance of a mimosa ($9), which was good and the perfect proportion of juice/alcohol. Food was also good, nothing too special, but good. It took is a while to stop in here. We walk by a lot on the weekends and the patio is always full. They have some amazing smelling and looking brunches as we walk past. We came early on a weekday and got a gteat spot on the patio. Wow they have an amazing beer selection. Also they have some great ciders. Service is fantastic. The TST burger was very good. As the world reopens, it's nice to be able to go out and eat again. With a few of my friends moving into Logan Square, we were looking for a place was open for business and this looked like a great spot. I ordered the Tex-Mex Burger and it was incredible. I'm a sucker for a good aioli sauce and the one they have here is incredible. Paired with bacon, roasted red peppers and onion, it create a full burger experience bursting with flavor. After seeing a movie at The Logan Theater (a few blocks away)-the theater staff recommended The Harding Tavern as a good place to get chicken wings and a drink. Entry and Seating- So a friend and I walked several blocks to The Harding Tavern and immediately upon entering we were greeted and told that we could choose our own seats. We sat at a table with two chairs near the window which was fun to people watch! The Order- We ordered the barbeque wings and the buffalo wings. Both orders of chicken wings were plump, tender, and well sauced! We ordered sides of ranch and blue cheese dipping sauces (as they did not come with the wings) and instead of carrots or celery sticks your only option is thinly shaved carrots. We are big fans of celery and carrot sticks so it was a bit disappointing. In addition, we found it odd having to ask for the sides of dipping sauces (ranch and blue cheese). Furthermore, the barbecue wings were not listed on the menu and were offered as an option as they did not have the Thai Chicken Wings that evening only Buffalo, BBQ and Mango Habanero were available. While the wings were delicious (and BBQ very, very sticky!), I am not sure that we would return there to have the chicken wings again-but would probably try the hamburgers as they seemed like a popular order and looked well presented and stacked. I spent a good part of my evening on Friday at the Harding Tavern. New bar in Logan Square? I'm there! When we walked in, we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait for a table and we decided to stick around. If you want to get a table at The Harding Tavern, it's going to be tough. There look to be like 14 4 tops and a few 2 tops along another wall. The waiting area is...well...there is none. We had to stand in front of one of the doors. This place is so insanely cramped it was making me a bit claustrophobic while waiting. While standing by for our table, my friend and I grabbed a couple of draft beers. It took forever for my friend to get them as the bartenders seemed a bit overwhelmed. Pro-Tip: If the bar is completely busy and you want to be a nice person, just order a quick beer or glass of wine. Making cocktails is quite time consuming for our hardworking bartenders! They have a really solid beer list, both on tap and in bottle. I love trying new beers and am pretty familiar with many brands and they really did impress me with their selection. 5 Rabbit is my favorite brewery and right away I saw on their chalkboard they called them 5 Rabbits. Eek Gads! Someone hurry up & erase the "s"! After about 40 minutes, we were seated at our table. Now as time went on, The Harding Tavern grew on me. I think because once we sat down we were away from the uberly cramped bar area that had 4 huge TVs above the bar. I was happy once we had our cozy little two top off on the other side of the tavern. We finally got to sit, we didn't have the glare of the TVs, and our waitress was so incredibly awesome! Seriously she made our time there & I think made huge fans of both of us. She was really knowledgeable about beer, even telling us all about Local Option, and just had perfect timing as far as being attentive but not overbearing in her service. I ordered their mac & cheese to go and absolutely loved it. Their $7 Mac & Cheese has bleu, cheddar, cotija, bacon fresh herbs, and breadcrumbs on top. I could do without the breadcrumbs but overall a very good dish that left me wanting to try more of their items! I have to admit, I'm still not completely sold on The Harding Tavern however I wouldn't discount it AT ALL. I could totally see myself going solo for a beer because of their amazing draft list or with a date. It gets so crowded (as do most bars in Logan Square) so I'd recommend going in off hours to avoid having to wait. read more

If I could I'd give 3.5. Its right off the Logan Square blue line station. I love the seating since almost all tables are near windows, aside from the bar. Pros: We ordered the Papas Con Chorizo, which was delicious! The potatoes in it were so good and the potatoes on the side were equally delicious!! We also ordered the Thai wings which weren't as good to me. They were also super spicy for me, so if you like spicy with a kick I'd definitely get this!! Cons: During nice days out, they open the windows and keep the door open. Since they do this a lot of bugs and insects come in. I had to shoo more than a handful of flies and other bugs away. Something else I didn't really like was not having the wings coated in the sauce; the sauce came on the side, which made it hard for my entire wing to be covered in sauce. read more

I love coming to this bar for many reasons, great food, service and specials. Appetizers are half off after ten o'clock and they are open late as well. If the weather is nice they also have outdoor seating as well. I had the THT burger which happens to be one of my favorite Burgers. The meat they use is freshly house ground roasted garlic beef, brie cheese, arugula, spicy fresh herb aioli and some applewood smoked bacon also comes with fries. You also must try the pork belly skewer, made with spicy sesame glaze, roasted peanuts and napa cabbage. They also have a beer that most bars do not carry, the White Rascal and it is so good! Covid-19 Isolation Review- We ordered some burgers from THT during quarantine, and they were delicious. I would recommend the burgers if you're looking for something that is filling and reminds you of summer. While we did not dine in/ or in their patio, we'd love to check their patio out when Covid-19 is all over. We ordered- CLASSIC BURGER (house-ground beef, tomato, onion, lettuce, brioche bun, lemon aioli, house pickle, choice of cheese). I enjoyed this burger because it felt 'light' for a burger. CRISPY BBQ BURGER (house-ground beef, white cheddar, crispy onions, barbecue sauce). I don't really like BBQ sauce. I think it can overpower burgers. However, this burger had the right amount of sauce, and its sweetness went perfectly with the crispy onions. I would like to shout out the MVP of the meal, the fries. While the burgers were good, I feel like I don't ever expect fries that are anything special. But the fries that come with your burger are salted perfectly and have cilantro on top. So good! read more
