Perfect neighborhood bar. The food is really good. I had the chicken ceasar wrap and my friend had the grilled cheese which has a crispy cheese as the bun. I never had anything like it, highly recommend. I had the berry lychee martini which was perfect for a summer evening

    Rugby early morning! Great crac

While the Wolfhound is an Irish bar, it is so much more. On my first visit, I asked a question and immediately was given a detailed explanation and in depth answer. I was immediately greeted with a friendly warmth. I felt I was visiting family. Over the years, that has not changed rather it has deepened. Plenty of fun and jovial banter. Drinks are served efficiently in upscale glassware. Food, some items unusual but so flavorful. Try the breakfast sandwich, with hand carved ham and addictive potatoes. Also the brussel sprouts appetizer - unique and a real treat for the taste buds. Fish and chips has probably the best fish I have had in Chicago over the past 30+ years. Don't forget to get some of the delicious scones to take home with you. Baked on site by the owners Mum, a true master baker of all things Irish. Entertainment on a Tuesday evening should not be missed, enjoy Irish music with pickup musicians. Test your grey matter with the quiz night on Wednesday evenings. Very happy to have the Wolfhound as my first choice for sports; rugby, soccer, football, hockey to name a few. However, don't take my word for it, check out the Wolfhound and experience the crac for yourself. Enjoy! Slainthe

We've been meaning to visit Wolfhound for nearly the last year, always intrigued by the large skeleton outside their door dressed appropriately to each holiday/season. I've been following on instagram as well and they really go all out with all of their events. And can I just say, we are so happy that we finally made it in! Came in on a Friday night for dinner and we were very pleased with the relaxed and charming atmosphere. It's seat yourself and we were tended to right away with a great server. There are adorable lights on the ceiling, an epic menu for food and drinks, and good amount of seating. Lots of families came with baby strollers and good amount of space at the bar in front as well. We had two cocktails which were absolutely fantastic followed by mini sausage rolls, my husband was inhaling them they are so good. We had the French chicken breast and Irish dog, both tasty and beautifully presented. Followed this with the orange cheesecake (personally our least favorite item but that's okay) and another drink. Hoping to come back soon and hear some local Irish music!

Stopped in at this Avondale Irish Pub and had a great time. Bartender welcomed me in with a smile and great old fashioned. I ordered the full Irish breakfast and every component was traditional and delicious. Took half of it home. Great energy in an inviting space. If you're free on a Tuesday there is live traditional Irish music.

Cute bar and friendly staff, but the service was painfully slow. It was not busy, as it was a Sunday afternoon just before 2, not quite lunch or dinner. After we ordered our food, it took 50 mins to come out. The fries were great, and the Fried Chicken Sandwich tasted good, but half the chicken was too thick that it overtook the sandwich. I appreciated the generous piece of chicken, but it didn't go well. Decent bar food if you're not in a hurry and in the area.

I've eaten here many times now. The owner is Irish, a firefighter, musician and has a passion for food. Everything is made from scratch down the the ketchup. The chicken sandwich, full Irish (all day) breakfast, chicken strips & cheese curds are my favs. They have a brunch menu on the weekend with home baked Irish soda bread and other goodies. I can't say no to their mimosas! I've recently tried the soups which were generous in size and the perfect winter warmer. They have different soups on rotation. I've also tried their late night menu which has delicious pizzas, the best sliders and more. All the staff are super friendly especially Emily who makes a great margarita! It's fairly easy to get street parking nearby. They have a good schedule of weekly entertainment (live Irish trad sessions, quizzes, drinks & food specials and other events). I think it's a good neighborhood place and definitely worth a try.

It's an Irish bar, having little Irish- it's a bar that serves food. We arrived and we're seated at a high top table, sprinkle lights cover the ceiling with loud music playing. We were greeted with enthusiasm- as we asked about what we should order or what was recommended we were told that you can't go wrong with anything on the menu; our handhelds are awesome, for an Irish bar our pizza is outstanding. We make everything in house. The excitement and confidence as the server / bar tender reviewed with us was real. We had ordered the spinach dip, fries and a pizza to start. Spinach dip was average, the chips were great though, a take on cool ranch Doritos, the fries needed salt, the aioli didn't save the day. Our server came back around 30 minutes later explaining that the kitchen was behind and the pizza would be out right away. 20 minutes later the pizza arrived. Soggy bottom average sauce cheese falling off because it was undercooked. He apologized. We had asked to place our order for our main entrees and additional cocktails. Chicken was just not good at all, it wasn't cooked enough for a crunch exterior, the cheese was overwhelming and the dill was overpowering. The French did didn't do any better. The meat missed the mark on seasoning, the cheese was soured bc of the combination of provolone and Swiss- there wasn't much of a balance of flavors at all. We placed an order for a few cocktails (none worth trying, bland and boring) and our second order never came ti the table - Pizza - even if it were cooked correctly, would have still missed a three star review. The sauce was off- blamed by the rush of food in the kitchen is an excuses that they forgot to place the order and rushed it. The restaurant portion had two tables full of 4 or less at this time. 7:30 reservation and leaving at 9:30 for a bar with food is too long in my opinion, several kinks that need to be addressed. When we were waiting for our check- we were told that another table had accidentally received our bill and paid it and left, they had asked us to then pay their bill which was less but also not ours. In a shady transaction that could have been avoided. That may be the biggest flaw in this entire evening.

    Espresso martini

I went for dinner at about 7:30pm on a Thursday night. We found the sign to seat ourselves and we sat and were greeted and received our waters. Our actual waitress did not check on us too often, as we were tucked in that corner of the bar. However, other staff checked in on us and made sure our waters were full. This place had one of my favorite burgers and espresso martinis. I enjoyed my dinner of the braised pork shoulders. The potato's and broccoli were warm and flavorful. I really enjoyed all of the food and drinks. This place would be perfect if service was just a bit better.

    Very good pizza

They had a terrific Valentine's Day dinner $95 for two people which included a small amuse-bouche each, an appetizer to share, individual entrees, and a dessert to share. We loved the crispy broccolini and were fighting over it. The entrees were huge portions and packed with flavor. I consider myself a scallop connoisseur and in all the restaurants we've ever been in, these scallops were cooked beautifully. They had a perfect sear to them on the outside but cooked perfectly on the inside as well, 10/10 no notes this is the scallop I will compare all future scallops to. And the duck confit, oh my...we also fought over this dish which paired incredibly well with beans to our surprise. Chocolate cake had a beautiful strawberry sauce on the bottom. Everything was incredible including the service. Cobblestone remains our favorite in the area and is loved by all the locals. Thank you for a perfect Valentine's Day dinner.

It was not an "Amuse bouche" which is a single bite item, it was much more but I'm not complaining about that! The appetizer was grilled octopus over sweet potato mash. I learned that day that sweet and grilled octopus is not a good mix. It was nearly gross. I picked the octopus up and tried to brush off as much of the sweet potatoes and possible. The octopus tasted good but was over cooked. My main was the branzino. It was charred to a crisp and full of bones. It did not taste good and was extremely difficult to eat. I did not taste the German chocolate cake for dessert but was told it was dry and people barely touched it. My husband and others are our table got short rib goulash, which was served like a steak with gravy. It wasn't tender like short rib should be. He said the flavor was good at least. Someone got the fish and chips and said it was flavorless. Someone else got the burger and said it was also charred and over cooked. Over all, pretty disappointed. Cute place with decent service. Hopefully this was just an off night.

The ambiance is really nice without feeling too "stuffy". Bar was gorgeous and service was friendly and helpful, allowing my boyfriend to sample some wines before going in on some bottles. Prices were what you'd expect for a trendy natural wine bar. The complimentary corn nuts in the antique dish were a cute touch. The charcuterie board with mixed meat and cheese was really small though. Only three pieces of cheese for five people... it made it feel like an awkward fight over who'd get to try some. The gluten free crackers were appreciated though. We ended up ordering more food including the "party tray" which I would describe more as charcuterie nachos. We didn't really know what to expect with this one so we got the canned mussels but it really would've tasted better with the prosciutto instead. It included a whipped cheese, olives, and cornichons piled onto potato chips. Less of a tray and more of a nacho-style dish. If we return next time we're in town, I'd skip the food and focus more on the wine. Beyond that, it was a fun time!
