Lobster fest in Key West and a cruise ship in port makes for a very busy place. This establishment was featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives so it was sought out by many. You order at a window and they bring you your food to the table. It is mostly shaded but still outdoors. The feel like temperature was 103. Had the lobster roll at $30. Very good and lots of lobster meat. The staff was nice and helpful. I'd love to try more of their selections in a cooler season or later in day.
When I looked up best lobster rolls in Key West, DJs made everyone's list no matter what site you viewed. From the front, it looks super small with no seating but there are actually seats in the back. I loved my lobster roll. It was really good and came out surprisingly fast. The fries were really good too.
The OG of the Clam shacks! Everything here is fresh and delicious and worth it! The overstuffed lobster roll was delicious! The fried clams and cracked conch were good but i preferred the clams better. Service was really cool. It's a tru shack with seating in the back. Dope spot with good ppl

One of my must-haves when traveling on the East Coast is a first-class lobster roll. And not the New England version with mayo. I want as much plain, unadulterated lobster as possible, stuffed into a beautifully grilled roll. Lucky for me, DJ's offers a Maine-style lobster roll: a grilled roll, warm lobster, and a small cup of melted butter. Food: The emphasis at DJ's is clearly on the food. The menu isn't large, but they offer all the classics. Most of us ordered the lobster roll, and we also had a shrimp po' boy, a cup of clam chowder, and a basket of conch fritters. Everything was delicious. The lobster roll featured generous pieces of tender lobster. The roll was perfectly grilled, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. There was plenty of melted butter to pour over the top, making it a bit messy, but absolutely worth it. This was a lobster roll to remember. The clam chowder was also excellent, creamy, well seasoned, and filled with good-sized pieces of clam. The conch fritters were the best we had during our time in Key West. I also sampled the shrimp po' boy, which was served on the same grilled roll. The shrimp were tender, with just the right amount of breading. Service: This is a small stand that has clearly mastered the art of serving excellent food in a compact space. There was a line when we arrived, and it took about 10 minutes to reach the counter. The person taking orders was friendly and helpful. Even while managing a steady flow of customers, they took the time to check in and chat briefly, which was appreciated. After ordering, we were given a number, and our food was delivered in less than 10 minutes. Atmosphere: The space is small but offers counter seating in the front, along with additional tables along the side and in the back. It's not fancy, but it's clean, efficient, and easy to navigate. We were pleasantly surprised to find covered seating in the back that accommodated our group of six. While we were eating, we experienced the only rain of our entire Key West trip. We got a little wet, but it didn't dampen the experience. The lobster roll was amazing and one of our favorite meals of the week. Definitely a place I would return to.
First place we ate at in Key West based on reccomendation from a friend. We had the conch fritters and lobster roll. Food was good, relaxed laid back environment. Good for a quick bite to eat for lunch. Can take food on the go or there is an eating area in the back. Would come back.
When you visit Key West, you must get a lobster roll! I've been to multiple lobster roll spots in Key West, and DJ's is definitely high up there! Me and my friend ordered both the lobster roll as well as the fried clams. The portion of fried clams was huge, definitely worth the price! The lobster roll was very tasty as well, the perfect ratio of lobster meat and mayo. DJ's does get crowded, but they do have a good amount of seating. Highly recommend!
Had my first Lobster Roll here so can't compare to the average however if I visit Key West again I will definitely be stopping by again! I got the overloaded lobster roll which while pricey was quite good! The service was great with the guy at the counter asking about what sights we'd seen and even recommending other local spots to visit and food try. The restaurant is open air and absolutely "beach casual" so no need for fancy attire of anything like that. I would love to come back and try other offerings in the future! Definitely stop by if your a seafood fan or looking to try some new seafood dishes!
Easy to see why this is a local favorite. They were only open from 11-4 when we're there which made it an easy lunch pick. I had the conch fritters and a shrimp po' boy with some onion rings. The fritters were stuffed with meat and delicious. The po' boy was stuffed with shrimp, pickled red onion and a tangy slaw. My wife had mahi mahi tacos which were huge and delicious. Amazing lunch spot in Old Town.
Well, if DJs is recommended by Guy Fieri when in Key West, of course I'm gonna go. So DJ's is located directly on Duvall Street, which is the most touristy and most highly trafficked part of Key West. There's usually a line and that's for a good reason. It moves quickly though so don't give up hope. I believe they're primarily known for their overstuffed fresh lobster roll and rightly so, but they do have plenty of other fish selections, including steamed clams, coconut shrimp, garlic, shrimp, roll, conch, fritters, and mahi-mahi fish tacos. They also serve a selection of beer and sodas to go along with your food that you can either take away or eat in on the back patio. I gotta say it was so good We went there twice. Both times we got the over stuffed lobster roll and I gotta say the brioche bun is fabulously buttery & crispy soft and it's big enough for two people to share, but you might still be kind of hungry afterwards. We also tried the coconut shrimp & the steamed clams which were good, but the real star was the lobster roll. Very tasty with a crisp cold beer by the way.
Loved this place! Quick walk from the pier and the food was reasonably priced and delicious. Mojitos were 2 for 1 with a variety of flavors. My hubby had the Cuban...he said it was super tasty. I had the lobster roll that was jam packed with delicious, fresh lobster. We both left full and satisfied. Also...they had really cute and clean restrooms.
JUST as good as I remember! Imo for the price you get a hearty amount of fresh flavorful lobster in the most tasty buttery toasted bun. Got our order quickly despite going at lunch time.

Right in the heart of Duval you will find DJ's clam shack. A rustic little restaurant with a real cool vibe. You will find one of the best cracked conch in town. The clam have been and still are really good. Just walk up to the window and place your order and take a seat. Then just wait for your fresh crispy sweet delicate conch to arrive. The staff is very nice and professional. I almost forgot to mention their awesome DJ clam shack, habanero pepper sauce. read more
This spot has been on my list of needs to go for quite a while. I'm pleased to say it did not disappoint. Yes, it's lobster, yes it's expensive. But it is really dang good. The warm, soft and buttery roll with the cold lobster is just delectable. We got really lucky when we walked by to order right away and the food came out very quick. It's a cute spot, we didn't explore too much since we got a seat right up front. It was worth every dang bite. Will definitely eat again. read more

I was looking for a dinner spot and decided to stop by after seeing how good the reviews were! The reviews were right!! This place was also featured on diners, drive ins and dives and for good reason! The vibes here definitely scream key west with some picnic tables in the back and nothing overly fancy! The service here was fantastic! Everyone smiling and chatting! Very friendly and gave different recommendations! The food: I decided to go with the shrimp roll since I am not a fan of mayo and that is used in their lobster roll. The shrimp were fresh, tender and had a perfect amount of seasoning! The lemon definitely kicked it up a notch! I didn't try the coleslaw. The bread was buttery and toasted to perfection! This is definitely a spot to check out while in the keys!! read more

Food was fine, service was ok. It's all outside eating which is fine but I do not prefer sweating while eating. Lobster roll was really good big pieces of lobster, but it's very expensive for what you get. read more
Loved DJ's clam shack! We went for a Thanksgiving dinner and the place was pretty packed, so highly recommend visiting during off hours to avoid the crowd. DJ's clam shack is a cute little shack on Duval street that sells awesome seafood. We ordered conch fritters, onion rings, and conch taco and LOVED all of them. Personally loved the fried conch (vs. conch fritters) because you could taste conch better. Conch fritters were still good, but conch mixed with batter / flour killed the flavor a bit. Overall, the food was amazing - a bit expensive but definitely worth it. Highly recommend when you're visiting Key West! read more

DJ's clam shack is a casual grab and go for lobster rolls, clams, and other eats. We ordered to go and it was quick and efficient. Unfortunately they ran out of clams at around 7:30 pm so we weren't able to order their most famous dish, but it was a packed new years night. We instead ordered the 2 lobster rolls, 2 clam chowders, and fries to fill our stomachs. The lobster rolls were so clean to eat, with no issue on spillage or too much on top. Clam chowder was also decent, after traveling back to hotel, the clam chowder was still warm. Definitely a great spot to get your fix, would love to come back to try the clams next time! read more

DJ's Clam Shack may have the best lobster rolls I've tasted in my life. Located on Duval Street, the heart of Key West's commercial and tourist scene, DJ's Clam Shack is easy to spot. It's a hop skip and jump away from Walgreens if you need a visual cue on it's location. When we visited, we ordered a regular and overstuffed Maine lobster roll. Both rolls came on perfectly crisped buns with healthy helpings of lobster. Even the regular roll was piled high with deliciously seasoned lobster and every bite was lobsterific. While not cheap at $25 for the regular Maine lobster roll and $42 for the overstuffed Maine lobster roll, for the amount of lobster in each roll, the price is very fair. If you're in for lobster or seafood, DJ's Clam Shack is definitely worth a visit. read more

This spot still remains UNDEFEATED! The best lobster roll in my opinion! Now, as of late I haven't been a fan of lobster because of the seafood aroma--iykyk!! But DJ CLAM SHACK doesn't have that issue. There is no indication upon entry that they serve seafood. Which is a plus. The bread is a bit toasted and buttered. They give you the perfect portion of lobster and adding in the side of coleslaw that comes complimentary is an added bonus! Their servers are super quick and friendly and this will continue to be a must spot when in Key West! read more

So sad to read that this place is temporarily closed. Hope they re-open soon!! We decided to try this place during a day visit in Key West in May. Quaint restaurant. Limited seating in the back. Unisex bathrooms, which were clean. A canopy of tree branches provided extra shading from the heat, in addition to the shade sails. Food a bit pricey but understandable due to the items on the menu. Our orders were delivered quickly. A must try; their fried Ipswich Clams!! So full of flavor, moist, and tender. Really good!! Their Lobster Roll had huge pieces of lobster meat, so worth the price. If you like seafood, especially Ipswich Clams and Lobster, I would definitely recommend this place when they re-open. ok read more

Had to try the famous lobster roll cooked in traditional Maine style with mayonnaise. It did not taste as fresh as when, I had this in Maine, but it was good and adequate sized for $25. A little to much mayonnaise and to their credit they did not use fillers so worth it if you really love lobster rolls. My son enjoyed his beef hotdog served with pickled onions and jalapeños. The conch fritters were pretty good not my favorite but good and did enjoy their dipping sauce which tasted similar to honey mustard. My favorite was the steamed clams and really loved eating the garlic bread after it had been soaking in the clam juice. You order at the front window than someone brings you the food. One caveat if it is raining and you see that the front is filled do not think you will be able to find a safe place to hide from the rain in the back. They put covers in the back but the rain does get through them not as bad as a direct hit but will still get wet. read more

Had dinner here the other night while in Key West and it didn't disappoint. You go up and order then they bring it out to you. They don't have any inside seating and the outside seating is limited but we found a spot. The service was super friendly. We ordered tacos and conch fritters and both were very good. The fries are average. The portions are huge and the prices are decent for what you get! Overall a cool stop in Key West! read more

I'm really happy I stopped by this spot during my trip to Key West. I was looking for a lobster roll and this one did not disappoint! Apparently they were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives so the prices were a littleeee steep ($25 for the lobster roll) but I think it was worth it! The roll was buttery and perfectly warm and the lobster was plentiful and tasty! The staff were very friendly as well and there were plenty of seating along the sides and in the back of the restaurant, though I'm sure it could feel crowded at times depending on the season/tourists. read more

Food came out super fast and although it looks small, there's more tables in the back to accommodate a lot of people. My party of about 20 were able to fit in the back area. The lobster roll and clam chowder were really good and were my favorite things from what we ordered. Def a must try if you're in the key west. read more
We came for the famous lobster roll and it did taste AMAZING and worth all the hype - 5 stars! It was quite expensive though... $25. We also ordered conch fritters which we were told had to be sampled while in Key West. We were not fans of the fritters unfortunately. Service was great. Nice guy behind the counter gave us tourist recommendations along with friendly service. Ambiance was great. There are a few outdoor tables in the back. But we chose to sit at the counters on the stools in front to people watch. I rate the place a strong 4. Couldn't give 5 stars due to the fritters and the cost. Would recommend! read more

DJ's Clam Shack looks like a small establishment from Duval Street but they actually have a nice back area as well. I must have passed by it multiple times. Not until I was actually looking for it I realized that this was the place! The menu is very small. I had the regular lobster roll and it was delicious. The lobster was fresh and buttery. The roll was full of flavor. The price for the lobster roll reflects the quality of food. The service was fantastic, they brought our lobster rolls to our table very quickly and offered us water. I never had lobster rolls so delicious. Definitely worth it! read more

Is there any difference from the Maine lobster roll from the over stuffed lobster roll other than the amount of lobster?
As the name implies, there's a lobster roll, and an overstuff lobster roll. i guess you could call them and ask how much more lobster is in an overstuffed lobster roll vs. the regular one. I suspect when I visited, I purchased a overstuffed…
Are the "Ipswich clams" the whole big belly clams? Only thing I have found in Florida are the strips & they aren't worth the price. Sure miss the Ipswich clams...first place I head for when I go back home to New England.
They are Ipswich whole belly clams at about $28 for a very large serving. They also have regular, also delicious, clam strips which are around $11. I love DJ's and stop by several times a month!
Does anyone know what kind of bread they use for the lobster roll? it tastes a bit sweet to me so i dont think it's regular white bread

It's a cold lobster roll full claws and tails, perfect amount of mayo on a delicious loaf of buttered bread. Fish tacos are also great here!
