This spot still remains UNDEFEATED! The best lobster roll in my opinion! Now, as of late I haven't been a fan of lobster because of the seafood aroma--iykyk!! But DJ CLAM SHACK doesn't have that issue. There is no indication upon entry that they serve seafood. Which is a plus. The bread is a bit toasted and buttered. They give you the perfect portion of lobster and adding in the side of coleslaw that comes complimentary is an added bonus! I was looking for a dinner spot and decided to stop by after seeing how good the reviews were! The reviews were right!! This place was also featured on diners, drive ins and dives and for good reason! The vibes here definitely scream key west with some picnic tables in the back and nothing overly fancy! The service here was fantastic! Everyone smiling and chatting! Very friendly and gave different recommendations! The food: I decided to go with the shrimp roll since I am not a fan of mayo and that is used in their lobster roll. The shrimp were fresh, tender and had a perfect amount of seasoning! Loved DJ's clam shack! We went for a Thanksgiving dinner and the place was pretty packed, so highly recommend visiting during off hours to avoid the crowd. DJ's clam shack is a cute little shack on Duval street that sells awesome seafood. We ordered conch fritters, onion rings, and conch taco and LOVED all of them. Personally loved the fried conch (vs. conch fritters) because you could taste conch better. Conch fritters were still good, but conch mixed with batter / flour killed the flavor a bit. DJ's clam shack is a casual grab and go for lobster rolls, clams, and other eats. We ordered to go and it was quick and efficient. Unfortunately they ran out of clams at around 7:30 pm so we weren't able to order their most famous dish, but it was a packed new years night. We instead ordered the 2 lobster rolls, 2 clam chowders, and fries to fill our stomachs. The lobster rolls were so clean to eat, with no issue on spillage or too much on top. Clam chowder was also decent, after traveling back to hotel, the clam chowder was still warm. Definitely a great spot to get your fix, would love to come back to try the clams next time! read more

DJ's Clam Shack may have the best lobster rolls I've tasted in my life. Located on Duval Street, the heart of Key West's commercial and tourist scene, DJ's Clam Shack is easy to spot. It's a hop skip and jump away from Walgreens if you need a visual cue on it's location. When we visited, we ordered a regular and overstuffed Maine lobster roll. Both rolls came on perfectly crisped buns with healthy helpings of lobster. Even the regular roll was piled high with deliciously seasoned lobster and every bite was lobsterific. While not cheap at $25 for the regular Maine lobster roll and $42 for the overstuffed Maine lobster roll, for the amount of lobster in each roll, the price is very fair. If you're in for lobster or seafood, DJ's Clam Shack is definitely worth a visit. read more

It's a little place with some seating on the side and some tables in the back. The food delicious and just the right portion. I had the lobster roll. Apparently they were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives so the prices were a littleeee steep ($25 for the lobster roll) but I think it was worth it! Food came out super fast and although it looks small, there's more tables in the back to accommodate a lot of people. My party of about 20 were able to fit in the back area. We had a stop here on our cruise and the Triple D show about Key West happened to be on the night before where they covered DJs. The staff was super friendly and helpful while trying to figure out all of the really good items on the menu to chose from. We did order some friend clams for the table to try. They were delicious and cooked perfectly. For my meal I chose to go with grilled garlic shrimp roll. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, large and flavorful. The kids when with the chicken strips and pork taco. My daughter thought the port taco was tasty, but a little spicy. Also the Tacos are HUGE so be warned that you might want to share some of the food. The tenders were cooked well and very juicy. They also have different beers (some local good ones as well too). Seating is outside and there is some cover and shade, but it does feel warm if you are in the sun and there is not a breeze. read more

Had to try the famous lobster roll cooked in traditional Maine style with mayonnaise. It did not taste as fresh as when, I had this in Maine, but it was good and adequate sized for $25. A little to much mayonnaise and to their credit they did not use fillers so worth it if you really love lobster rolls. My son enjoyed his beef hotdog served with pickled onions and jalapeños. The conch fritters were pretty good not my favorite but good and did enjoy their dipping sauce which tasted similar to honey mustard. My favorite was the steamed clams and really loved eating the garlic bread after it had been soaking in the clam juice. You order at the front window than someone brings you the food. One caveat if it is raining and you see that the front is filled do not think you will be able to find a safe place to hide from the rain in the back. They put covers in the back but the rain does get through them not as bad as a direct hit but will still get wet. read more

We also ordered conch fritters which we were told had to be sampled while in Key West. We were not fans of the fritters unfortunately. Service was great.
