We hired DJ Chicago for our wedding just last weekend, 10/22/17. Our experience was so incredibly positive. From our first meeting with Dylan, my now-husband and I knew DJ Chicago was the right call. Dylan was incredibly helpful as we were planning our reception and forming our must-play list. When we were at a loss, he had great suggestions, and overall he made the entire process as easy and stress-free as it could be. On the day of the wedding I threw Dylan a curveball and requested an additional song be included in the processional music literally 10 minutes before the ceremony started. He wasn't phased and was able to include the song without issue. Throughout the day he kept everything flowing nicely, and once it was time for guests to hit the dance floor it was packed until the end of the night. He never yelled over the music or killed the mood with a weird song choice, which we've seen lesser DJs do at other weddings. Congratulations if you're reading this you just found your DJ! Mark was absolutely spectacular at my wedding - he actually made the music even better than I had imagined it ahead of time. In preparation for our wedding day, Mark took the time to discuss with us at length the types of music we liked and particular songs. We must've blasted a million ideas at him during our meetings, and this guy put it all together into an absolute masterpiece. Even more, his transitions at the wedding were flawless. Mark seamlessly increased and decreased the tempo with matching BPM (beats per minute) songs. This is the sign of a true professional "master of ceremonies". And he actively responded to what the crowd was responding to, taking this thing to a whole other level. It was absolutely customized to my people and my night. Awesome. DJ-Mark was awesome. He was professional, friendly, accommodating, intuitive, and efficient. He played exactly what we wanted, and was able to get a lot of obscure songs that we asked for. He's happy to download any song you request at no charge, he says it builds his library. He also played crowd pleasers (according to our musical taste) and had everyone grooving on the dance floor all night! The highlight was capping the night off with a Bohemian Rhapsody sing-a-long with all our friends and family (even my grandma!!) :D We had made some special requests that we thought might be difficult, but Mark pulled it off with ease. I used DJ Chicago for my wedding reception at the Chicago Botanic Gardens on 5/14/16. Chris, our DJ, was great! He ran the walk-in, toasts, and dances expertly and efficiently. He also knew how to keep the dance floor moving all night long. He used all of the songs on our must play list and expertly knew which song request to fulfill and which ones to ignore. He did a great job! I met with DJ Chicago twice prior to the big day. They were easy to work with and I found them very reasonable. I also appreciate that for a small fee I was able to rent uprlights for the dance floor and they were also able to provide us with a remote speaker for cocktail hour which was in a separate location. I have never written a review - so, the significance of actually writing one now for the beloved DJ-Chicago carries some weight. I had been to a super fun birthday party (theme: Prom Across the Decades) when I first encountered them. I was so impressed by their sense of flow and pulse on the crowd, that I reached out to them for my wedding party. We had it at The Dawson restaurant. They were professional, communicative, and engaged with us. They truly were dedicated to us having an amazing experience through them. That being said, it also helped that we were very prepared upon our first meeting. At the advice of a friend, we knew the percentage, genre, and examples of songs that we wanted to curate for our whole night. And they delivered. Nick was our DJ and he couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. We had a prep phone call several weeks beforehand and he was super prompt with his follow-up notes and correspondence. "Wall of sound", "best DJ ever", "best playlist ever" were all phrases uttered during and after our wedding. We had a wedding of 200 people - all ages, from all over the world (literally: Paris, UK, South Africa, Korea, Israel). No one was sitting down. I danced so much I couldn't feel my pinky toes for about a month later. I didn't want to be that person who started a conversation and then left midway through because I needed to dance to a song. And every song was that. Nick executed a mixture of hip hop, R&B, 80s, 90s. He hit all the highlights just at the right moments. Many people said it was the best wedding they had ever been to, and I think a lot of that is owed to Nick and DJ-Chicago. We are so happy we chose them. You can't go wrong here. read more

We worked with DJ-Chicago for our wedding in June. They were incredible. Our meetings with Mark and our DJ, Chad, were always smooth, low-stress, and fun. The day of the wedding, Chad was just outstanding. Nick created one of the most fun dance parties I have been to, and it just so happened to be my wedding! From the first time we chatted with Nick on the phone, we knew he was a good fit for us. He was clearly very passionate about his favorite music but also didn't feel the need to force a specific style or genre. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of all music and how to build off of our ideas and the crowd to find songs that we didn't know we needed to hear. He knew exactly what to play and for how long to keep the energy going and get everyone involved. Nick also coordinated with all of our other vendors and kept the festivities running smoothly. Nick also was able to quickly recover when he overloaded the venue's power supply with too much bass (a great problem to have!) Nick will crank it to 11 when the situation calls for it and deliver a memorable evening for everyone in attendance. Alec DJ'd our wedding at the Newberry Library a few weeks ago and I would give him 6 stars if it was possible. I fancy myself a bit of a music snob so I was going to hold our DJ to a pretty high standard. (To introduce the bride, I had an audio engineer mix a Sigur Ros track to work as a :60 piece with cross fades and a cresendo just as she appeared...I took this seriously) We met about a week out from the wedding and instantly Marc (the owner) and Alec put all my fears to rest. They were detailed, knew exactly what I wanted, offered suggestions, and by the end of the meeting we'd pieced together a schedule for the night that my wife and I were ecstatic about. On the night, Alec made sure we were happy whenever he got the chance, was a total pro, was adored by my parents (not easy to do) and my friends a like. Loved to work with them. read more

Mark met with us twice and was professional, and attentive and gave good advice -- which was great because we had no idea what we were doing. He is very professional (but easy-going), has a lot of experience (it was especially nice that he had DJ'd at our venue before and knew the wedding coordinator and the lay of the land) and he is a breeze to work with. Professionalism and service were high on our priority list when searching for vendors for our wedding in October 2010. DJ Chicago was the most professional DJ company that we met with. Of note is that Mark was very responsive to all of my emails. Believe it or not, they were the only company who didn't use the word "cheesy." Every, and I mean every, other company alleged that they were not the cheesy company; but the fact that DJ Chicago was able never to use the word cheesy to describe cheesy, it certainly made us think they actually weren't cheesy (which they weren't!). Mark sent Alec to play our wedding, and Alec did an awesome job! Luckily Alec was in our age bracket so he definitely seemed to know the music we liked. I do believe that Alec is knowledgeable enough that he would be able to play for any age group. One of my big worries was not having anyone out on the dance floor, but with the music selection that my husband and I made, combined with Alec's and Mark's selections, the dance floor was the place to be. read more

The DJ is a huge part of making a wedding fun, so its a big decision. I highly recommend DJ Chicago for their professionalism and thoroughness and especially DJ Mike. We thought Mike was outstanding at our wedding. Our situation was a lil tricky since we planned our entire Chicago wedding from Toronto, but DJ Chicago made it very turn key for us. We interviewed about 4 DJ companies in total and finally we booked with DJ Chicago, based on the reviews and our interview back in March for our wedding July 8th. We meet with our assigned DJ (Mike) about a month prior to the wedding while we were in town. It was great finally meeting Mike and that put us at ease since we went through every detail imaginable from ceremony till the end of the reception. All our guests commented on what a great DJ he was and we heard comments like, "the DJ ROCKS!, Awesome play list, Amazing DJ," etc and we agree! Mike was so professional and he made our wedding ceremony and reception run very smoothly, especially since we had so many different details. My fiancee and I hired Mark's deejay service for our wedding last summer and couldn't have been more satisfied with his professionalism and engaging personality at our reception. We met with multiple DJs during the wedding planning process and when I sat down with Mark at his office in Lakeview, I couldn't have been more excited to go home and tell my wife that I think I found the perfect person and persona to emcee the most important day of our life. DJ-Chicago has multiple deejays that can play at your wedding, however Mark (the owner) was the guy who worked ours. So I would be sure to ask for him. He has great equipment, lights, the personality, and the recognition to understand how to work the crowd at your party. He has that insight and intellect. I would say I'm a person who is very attention-to-detail oriented especially when it comes to music that I like, etc. So Mark may have been surprised when I gave him my song list that was practically down to the minute for each segment of our wedding reception. That being said, he worked with me to make sure it laid out accordingly and was able to confirm and recommend songs that worked for the guests and for each of the right moments throughout the party. He's perfect when it comes to helping your personalize your wedding reception based on your preferences and likes/dislikes. You tell him your don't want any Aerosmith, and he won't play any Aerosmith ... no questions asked! My partner and I got married on November 26, 2011 and Mark was our DJ from DJ-Chicago. Mark was fantastic- he was extremely professional and very easy to work with. From our first meeting, we knew he'd be great fit for our wedding since he had such a wide knowledge of music, and seemed to really know what would get people to dance from all generations (his suggestion of Motown music was spot on). He also helped make sure our reception ran smoothly by coordinating the order of events very carefully. We discussed all the specifics for our reception at a meeting prior to our wedding, and he went over everything again with us day of (including reviewing name pronunciations, which was great because it meant there were no awkward mistakes when the announcements were made- I've seen that happen many times before!). Mark was also super flexible and accommodating; we changed a lot of music/announcements last minute, and he quickly included everything and made all needed adjustments. To his credit, I'm surprised he was able to keep all the changes straight! He also did the music and sound for our ceremony perfectly, which was something I was fairly stressed about, since a mistake at that time would be very obvious. But, he executed everything amazingly, from the volume level of the music to making sure the mics didn't give feedback. Everything sounded great! I was especially pleased with our dinner music- something I had completely forgotten about until the moment he started playing all of the artists we had said we liked at our very first meeting (almost 8 months prior). He even managed to find some fairly obscure songs for us and transition seamlessly to other, more familiar songs we liked. More than anything, though, Mark was always very respectful to our ideas, but also gently directed us in better directions when he recognized that some of our ideas probably wouldn't work out (ie suggesting a largely unknown song for the final dance). Music can be such a personal thing, it's easy to feel judged when discussing song choices. I never once felt that Mark was critical of our taste, but he always made sure that what we were requesting would actually work at a real wedding (and not just in our heads). Final added bonus: DJ-Chicago is also super affordable. :) A great choice for any wedding or event! read more
