I reached out and had an initial consultation call for my wedding in June. After the call, I was told I would receive a proposal, but more than two weeks passed without anything being sent. I followed up and was told I would receive the proposal by the end of the day, but I never heard back. I reached out multiple times over the following two weeks to everyone I had been in contact with and did not receive a single response. This lack of communication was extremely disappointing and felt unprofessional for a service costing $5,000+. We had a preferred vendor list to choose a Lighting/Decor/DJ vendor from, but we're so happy that this list led us to MDM. The first company we talked to was very uninterested in selling us and instead was really looking to us for direction and decisions on everything without much guidance. Thankfully from our first conversation with MDM our contacts did a fabulous job answering any and all of our questions in addition to providing great guidance on our reception space which they were very familiar with. MDM provided pricing sheets for all of their services up front so there were no last minute or unexpected fees and we could really customize what we wanted and stay in our budget - for instance a typical uplight package maybe included 8 or so uplights and we were able to get the package priced to only include the 4 or so we needed instead - so basically super reasonable people to work with all around. Our DJ (David) came through MDM as well and we were able to use an online portal to give David our must play, nice to play, and do not play lists all in one location. A week before our ceremony we talked over the phone with David and went through the entire reception plan so we all were on the same page. When it came to the reception - we had a full dance floor the whole night which is always a sign of a great DJ and David really did a good job keeping the energy flowing all night without any lull or dead moments. Easy to work with, service was great, their lighting skills will change your space!

We used MDM for lighting, decor, and mics. Patti was very responsive at the beginning and scheduled a meeting with me to talk through all of the options and see things in person. From there she sent over a proposal and along the way was very helpful in giving suggestions, and finalizing details as we planned. They provided us with options for our microphones in case of wind at our outdoor deremony, and it worked out perfectly with the speakers they provided. Our wedding was later in the evening and by the end of the ceremony was dark outside. MDM had spot lights set up that I was nervous about because I didn't want it to be super bright or blinding in guests eyes. They were soft and ended up being perfect, our photographer even told us how amazing those lights were in helping her get great shots as it became darker. Our decor inside was so beautiful- The drapes and lighting they provided were perfect. They were able to take the grapevine balls and set them up in a different way for me- down the length of the room instead of one big cluster. Mike was able to choose an uplighting color as the room came together that matched our decor and fall theme. Everything turned out so beautifully! I gave 4 stars for responsiveness because I waited to hear back for almost 3 weeks at one point which was frustrating. They assured me it was due to a very hectic wedding season and it didn't happen again after it was addressed, overall great experience! read more

Overall great - Patti was wonderful to work with; the onsite techs were helpful and hard working. We ordered 20 up-lights and 8 Gobos in our logo, total was approximately $4k. Not cheap, but I believe it's competitive pricing for Chicago. My only qualm is that I would have liked to know that the Gobos had a specific size limit because when we arrived at the venue, the artwork on the walls had changed so we had to move Gobos around and to increase the size made them blurry. read more

Used this company for DJ, lighting, backdrop and photobooth for my wedding. This company was worth every penny!!!!! I love that they are a one stop shop and lowered the number of vendors that I had to deal with for the wedding. Patti is great with communication. She explained everything clearly with the online process on planning a timeline to the prices for the services that they offered. We got sent reminders for when payment or finalization of our items. Brian was our DJ. Very professional and he took into account what we wanted in terms of music at our reception. He also used very good judgment with music and had people on the dance floor all night. I'm Vietnamese and my family wanted to have some viet music played. Brian was great and incorporated this into the set list. We also had a photo booth. Everyone enjoyed this! The best part was that there was an attendant who put together every photo taken into a memory book and we were presented with that at the end of the night. We also received a digital copy of all the photos. Uplights were placed throughout the ballroom. I showed Patti my flowers and she was great on recommending the color. The lighting was soft and really transformed the room. We also had a ivory backdrop with draping and twinkle lights. It really framed the head table well. MDM totally transformed a boring ballroom into a vibrant, chic and classy reception. Everything went so smoothly with this company. Would highly recommend for weddings. The prices are a little high but think of your sanity of dealing with multiple vendors just to get a cheaper deal. Have peace of mind and book this company. read more

From our first meeting with MDM to the end of our reception, MDM was nothing but spectacular and professional. We used them for their DJ services. First, we met with Patti who was very knowledgeable of our venue and the requirements we needed to make our wedding entertainment successful. She was very accommodating with the several meetings that we had with her. We never felt like we were being pressured into a package that we didn't need. Based on our music preferences she was able to match us with DJ Nick. DJ Nick was everything we could have hoped for and more. From early on in the process he was able to accommodate our music preferences and give us suggestions. We had very specific requests throughout the night and he was able to fulfill all of them. He introduced himself to our parents prior to the event and was a stand up gentleman throughout the night. He was always prepared and kept us on schedule, letting us know when speeches were coming up, first dance, etc. Once the dancing portion of the night began, the dance floor was never empty. He was able to keep all generations on the dance floor all night with a variety of different eras of dance music. We were thoroughly impressed and received numerous compliments on how great the music was. Several of our friends inquired about DJ Nick for their own weddings coming up in the near future. We used MDM for our wedding and we had such a positive experience. At our first meeting, we met with Patti and we were sold immediately. She was so helpful and easy to talk to about what we were looking for in terms of entertainment for our wedding. She met us at a coffee shop in the city close to our apartment in order to make it more convenient for us. I really liked how she showed up with an ipad at the meeting so that she could show us examples of the lighting that they offer and review the website with us. We really liked that MDM offered both DJs and lighting so that we didn't have to look for another vendor for the lighting package. We also really liked the online planning form that we used to select our event timeline and music. We made changes up until a few days before the wedding and it was so easy to use. We also really appreciated how flexible their payment schedule was. Most importantly, I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed working with our DJ, Robert Nicpon. Robert met with us face to face about a month before the wedding, again accommodating a location that was convenient for us. He took notes all through our discussion and then sent an email outline of what we discussed, which really made me feel secure that he was on top of it. He went out of his way to accommodate some very specific requests, including a mashup of the traditional Jewish wedding Hora and an Arabic instrumental medley, which I'm sure was a request that he does not get often. My fiance was extremely particular about the music, which versions, volume, transitions, etc. and he patently agreed to do exactly as we asked. In addition to being excellent to work with, we found Robert to be an absolute pleasure to get to know on a personal level. We felt that he really look the time to get to know us as a couple and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him as well. We wanted a little extra lighting for our wedding at the Rookery, and MDM was very reasonable with their pricing. It was a long drive to meet with their staff, just to look over pricing and then let them know later what we wanted to do. The only other negative was that we wanted a really dark eggplant purple color light, and they explained that the more expensive LED lights would be the only type that had that color available. On the day of the wedding, the color was more of a maroon which they had on display in their studio with the less expensive lights. We were still pleased with the overall look the uplighting gave the room, but probably should have saved ourselves some money and just went with the standard lights. I would recommend making sure they show you a sample of the exact light and color they will be using so there aren't any surprises on the day of your event. It's been nearly two weeks since our wedding now, and we still can't stop talking about how much fun the night was, and how much fun our guests had! The MDM team played a huge role in that - specifically Patti, DJ Aumir and Sigi. Our wedding was really diverse - I'm half Indian and my wife is of Chinese descent. We had people here from all over the world, all ages. And they all had an amazing time on the dance floor. Let's start with Patti and team. Planning/Music/Sound was something that we definitely put to the back burner as we had lots of other cultural fusion events to also think about. Patti was great - I could seamlessly ask for recommendations, and trust that everything was taken care of. Probably the vendor that I communicated with the least, yet they delivered everything without a single misstep, and beyond our expectations. We added in ceremony coverage the day before the wedding, as well as coverage for the outdoor cocktail hour at Adler, and Sigi was able to pull our Spotify playlists and handle very niche music requests for the ceremony. It was great! DJ Aumir stole the show. We filled out our planning forms just days before the wedding, and he was able to cut music, organize our reception format and everything else perfectly. I've been to a bunch of Indian weddings within the family and can't remember seeing the crowd so lively. Everyone was energized and engaged the whole time. We had everyone on the dance floor, until the very end, when they were chanting for one more song. Everyone including more conservative aunts and uncles, friends who are into more EDM stuff, and even younger kids. My 4 year old nephew was in the center of the dance floor at one point with a circle around him. No joke. Aumir had some great mixes and really played to the crowd very well, including some awesome Indian music, which even people who aren't familiar with it enjoyed. We haven't been able to get over how many people were dancing till the very end. Never seen it before, and probably one of the best memories of the wedding was seeing everyone have such a good time. Once we learned that we could only have 50 people max at our spring 2021 Chicago wedding we decided that we wanted to share the celebration virtually with our family and friends who could no longer be there in person with us, so we hired MDM to help and we are SO glad that we did! Not only did they provide a high quality live stream of our ceremony (the video and audio were fantastic), they also facilitated a zoom reception for us during our cocktail hour which was so fun! We also loved the interactive elements they added to our streaming site, including a photo guest book and our wedding Spotify playlist. WOW! I was thrilled by the service provided by MDM, specifically our DJ Oliver for our wedding last month. I had been going through some family health issues leading up to the wedding and Oliver was beyond helpful in working out the timeline for the entire evening, something that I was not looking forward to doing. I mean, if you've never gotten married how are you supposed to know what to do? In addition to all the help prior to the wedding Oliver and MDM made sure that our day was FANTASTIC! Our dance floor was NEVER empty, from the first song to the last and it was such a great variety of music. I cannot tell you how many people commented that the DJ was phenomenal. In the past we had been to weddings with super cheesy DJs, but I didn't have to worry about that at all with Oliver. I used MDM entertainment for lighting at my June 2011 wedding at the Zhou B art Center. I had chosen to use the Zhou B art center as a wedding venue, because of the potential the space had to hold and display allot of colored lighting. After meeting Mike, I was immediately assured that he knew his stuff and had the equipment needed to create the look I wanted. Mike took the time to show me sample lighting and created the exact shades of color I was looking for. He was also willing to come out to my event venue and give me recommendations on how much lighting to use, to make the space look best. He was incredibly professional and knowledgeable throughout the process. On the night of the wedding, the lighting staff exceeded my expectations and created a more beautiful look than I had imagined. We used pin-spotting on all the tables that lit up our floral centerpieces, and blue and purple lighting throughout the room that perfectly complemented our color scheme. They were able to set up and tear down the equipment within the short timeframe that the art center had given them, and were very polite and punctual. Before I booked MDM for lighting, I asked a few other lighting companies about quotes. MDM's lighting quote was easily three or four times less expensive than any other lighting quote I received. My brother got married Sept 2011 and they used MDM for their DJ - David was their actual DJ. He was amazing. They were so thrilled with him/MDM they booked immediately and didn't even bother meeting with any other DJs. He was able to read their needs right away and was spot on. At the wedding, he was an all star. The music was great and the dance floor was packed all night. He knew exactly what this crowd needed. When requests were made by the guests he was very courteous in turning down the guest (ie saying they didn't have the song) until he was able to check with the bride, maid of honor, etc to see if it was ok to go outside of the previously determined genre(s). Overall, everyone was thrilled. Now I'm getting married and I immediately looked to MDM for my wedding. I have been talking with Patti and she has been nothing short of amazing. Very easy to talk to and understanding and not overbearing. She gives you plenty of space and understands you're busy and working on more things than just a wedding DJ. Unfortunately, it won't work out for us to have David and MDM but we still highly recommend them. Anyone who uses them will not be disappointed. Also, one of the reviews I saw said MDM did not have an office and they wished they could have seen the lights demonstrated. Perhaps this was true when that yelped used them, however, its not the case anymore.
