If you're looking for the PERFECT night out in Chicago--stop scrolling, cancel your plans, and RUN (don't walk) to Game Night Out in Lakeview. I had no idea what to expect since it was my first time, but baby... they DELIVERED! Not only was it our friend's birthday celebration, but it turned into one of the most hilarious, creative, and downright FUN nights we've had in the city. Let's start with the true MVP of the evening: ABBY. THE. HOST AND KERRY Listen... Abby didn't just host. She guided our chaotic group like a game show goddess sent from above. She hyped us up, roasted us just enough to keep it spicy, and somehow made everyone feel like the star of the show. I am convinced she has superpowers--energy of a cheerleader, comedy timing of a stand-up comedian, and the organization skills of a professional event planner. If you go, do yourself a favor and REQUEST ABBY. No, seriously. Don't be shy. Ask for her by name. Write it on a sticky note. Tattoo it on your arm. Whatever you gotta do--JUST GET ABBY. Now the games... OH THE GAMES. These weren't your basic "I've done this before" party games. These were clever, custom-built, laugh-until-your-stomach-hurts kind of games. It felt like a mix of Family Feud, Minute to Win It, Jeopardy, and pure unhinged brilliance. * You compete in teams. * You scream, you dance, you attempt to spell words you suddenly forget how to spell. * Your competitive side WILL come out. * You will question your friendships (in the best way). By the end, we were sweating, laughing, and high-fiving like we just won the Super Bowl. Even the birthday person said, "This is the BEST birthday I've had in YEARS," and honestly... facts. The vibe? 10/10. The staff? Elite. The location in Lakeview? Perfect The memories? Core. Locked. In. I cannot stress this enough: Game Night Out is a MUST-DO Chicago experience. Whether it's birthdays, team events, date night, friends' night, or you just feel like being competitive for no reason--THIS IS THE PLACE. And remember... ASK FOR ABBY and KERRY!! She's basically Lakeview royalty at this point.

Our work team had a virtual game night out to celebrate the end of the year, and boy was it fun!! We played 5 different games on zoom and were broken up into teams. Even though my team, the Jingle Ballers, sadly came in 2nd by 1 point... we still had so much fun! Our hosts Anneliese and Collin were fun and led the various games with energy! It was such a fun night with our team. While they did mention they are stopping their virtual option, I'm sure their in-person offerings are just as fun! I would definitely recommend this for any work team or group of friends that love some competitive game play!

Guess who's back? Back again? The WINNERS are back. Tell your friends! That's right... my work team decided last year was just too much fun that we had to do our end of the year virtual party with Game Night Out again! And... it was such a BLAST, yet again! We were broken up into teams and put into game rooms where our hosts Collin and Annelise took us through a series of games and matches. They were hilariously witty, captivating, upbeat and fair game masters. We played entirely new games from last year! So kudos to Game Night Out for having lots of clever engaging games up their sleeves. (emoji claps) Again... I'd highly recommend this for a remote team building activity as you'll definitely share smiles and lots of lols via your reliable Wi-Fi connection. ;D

BOOK THIS EXPERIENCE! We had so much fun with our group of 8! Food/Drink: You can bring your own food but I would recommend eating before hand or bringing more snack foods as opposed to a whole dinner. You can order pre-made cocktails here, wine bottles, or beer cans. You have to finish all your alcohol and cannot take any leftovers home. When you arrive you get checked in and brought to a room which looks like someone's home (which I loved!). We had time to order our drinks, say hello to each other, and use the restrooms before the games started. We played a total of six games which were all fun and a good mix of old school board games with newer games you probably have not played. We were split into two teams and it fulfilled my competitive soul. A HUGE shoutout to Ben and Rio for being amazingly funny hosts who just went with the flow and our vibes! Our group can be chatty and hard to handle sometimes and they did such a great job keeping us paying attention and moving through the games seamlessly. Parking: there's parking available in the parking garage (game night is on the fourth floor of the century building) or street parking that's easy to find.

Can you spy your city's OCA?

"Board games can be educational. Many board games are designed to enhance cognitive abilities, improve mathematical skills, and foster social interaction among players." ― Facts.net Who would have thought that in adulthood, trivia and board games would be the thing. At most social gatherings, there's always a game or two lying around to get everyone mingling and I love it. This does not stop at the workplace. If you're reading this, you should know my company and if you know anything about the company I'm at, you know they throw a good party! ;D Our year-end team activity was virtual and hosted by the amazing people of Game Night Out. 1.5 hours flew by in the blink of an eye. The hosts, Collin and Annelise, were amazing and the games were fun and engaging. Annelise even created the hot potato game and how fun is that!? Game Night Out is highly recommended whether you want an in-person event or virtual. Five-stars!

Such a fun and unique place to host a birthday party in Chicago! Recently went to game night out to celebrate my friend's 25th birthday. I was really really excited when she planned her birthday here, because I actually wanted to host my birthday there, but there was no availability on my selected date. The staff was really nice and thankfully patient as majority of the group was late. When we finally started playing the games, I appreciated that the staff hit the ground running so that we could make the most of our time. They explained the rules and goals of each game very clearly, and I loved that each game had all team members engaged the entire time. I love a good competition, so my competitive side was definitely shown throughout the night. There is plenty of space to serve food and drinks, along with lots of space to mix and mingle before and after the games. For the games that we played, there were some that are game night classics such as heads up, but then there were other games that I had never played in my life before! It was also really cool that some of the games were focused on the birthday girl, and Putting the teams against each other to see who knew her best. I loved my game night out experience, and I wish that there were more of these across the country. I will definitely look into hosting my future birthday parties at game night out.

The first issue being that the entire hallway leading to my room reeked of cigarettes (both days we were there). This is gross and frustrating to encounter in 2026. The second issue being that the pillows in the room were overly squishy and offered no support. I called the guest services number at 2am asking if they had firmer pillows. The woman on the phone said they have foam and feather pillows. I requested two foam pillows be brought to my room. I was pretty surprised when they brought pillows that were as squishy as the feather pillows already in the room. Definitely bring your own pillow if you prefer supportive pillows! Great, right? The photo on the Bonvoy site had a nice view of Wrigley and the view of the room they first gave me... did not. Very misleading so I asked for a better room and got it. I understand that this is 'the game' that you have to play sometimes but was disappointed given that I'm Gold Elite and usually this sort of game isn't played. The view *was* great - nice view of the park - you can even see the ivy, and of course you can see Gallagher Park which is a multi-use space next to Wrigley where player statues are. However, the soundproofing of this hotel is abysmal and they should supply earplugs and eye masks. There's a gap between the blackout curtains and the top of the window so there was a thin but bright light coming through as the sun came up. And then there was the 7am workout class. 7am ON THE DOT I heard crazy loud dance music and sure enough I peeked out and saw a class in the park. Listen, I know it's a city and sounds are going to happen but this was so loud that the hotel could - and should - take steps to mitigate the inconvenience of being awakened by a fitness class at 7am. Otherwise, hotel is fine. You're paying for the location - and you get it. Not for biz travelers. Good for families and folks traveling with pets. Room layout is practical - lots of plugs next to bed and by the desk - with included iron and ironing board, safe, robe, and slippers. No lotion in bathroom but shampoo/conditioner/body wash in shower, and soap by sink. What you'd expect (but the lack of lotion was weird). Breakfast buffet is also fine - $26 for cereal, fruit, pastries, scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc. Nothing extraordinary but the space is gorgeous and also has an outdoor area if you want to look at the park while you eat. Hotel could really shine by adding bedside earplugs and eye masks, making it more explicit upon check-in that you need to request a coffee maker or fridge in your room, and improve the light seepage on those blackout curtains. These all are easy - and thoughtful - fixes.

The room was set up nicely with a combination of standing cocktail tables and seating to sit down in. The bar area was set up nicely and was well organized. I was so surprised to see the outdoor space next to the room where the ceremony was held. The room itself was beautiful, but seeing the outdoor greenery made it all the more magical. After the ceremony everyone retired back to the reception area for drinks. I kept trying to figure out where dinner was going to be served. While having drinks, the staff kept walking around with these amazing hors d'oeuvres! I had so many that I almost did not want to have dinner, they were that good. Well color me surprised as the same room we were in for the ceremony was transformed into a dining area, with a second room next to it set up for a band and dancing. The set up for dinner was nice and the food was actually pretty good, I mean clean your plate good. The staff did an excellent job of serving without getting in the way of things. And the speed at which they transformed the room was pretty quick. I am usually not much for wedding events but we had a great time here, in part to the lovely couple, but the venue had a big part to play in it. UNPROFESSIONAL OWNERSHIP Update: an indication of the lack…read moreof professionalism is the suggestion that I rallied my friends and family to leave low reviews in search of a refund. We already know we aren't getting a refund. The owner made that clear when we tried to remedy the situation with her over the phone. Nicolle was informed of the lack of AC during the event by a staffer who told me herself that she'd contacted Nicolle. Another indicator of her lacking professionalism is the angry emails she sent me regarding my Yelp review - no apology, just anger and threats to have my Yelp account blocked and shut down. She says we toured the venue 6 times... we saw it 3x. Finally, she dismissed the fact that her staffers were unprofessional and didn't know how to tap kegs/mix drinks just because my dad provided a generous tip. If you read the review my dad left (HJ), you'll see that his generous tip does not reflect his dissatisfaction with the service. He's just a generous tipper. I want to start by saying that I had an amazing wedding; definitely the wedding of my dreams thanks to my wedding parties and family. However, the service from the owner Nicolle was just terrible and so unprofessional. When it came to securing a contract or receiving payment, she was on top of the communication. It wasn't until after she met my now-husband and wedding parties that her friendly and responsive demeanor entirely changed. She was condescending and treated us like children. Prior to meeting my entourage, I asked about security and she said that we wouldn't need it unless we wanted it. After meeting my entourage, she told me that since my crowd is mostly younger (it wasn't) she would be contracting security for our event to ensure that we weren't serving alcohol to minors. What an assumption! Whatever age we are, we are paying her and deserve to be treated with respect. Her contract stated that a week prior to the event we would communicate any accommodations or other details for the event, including possible early drop off or arrival of decor. I called her twice and emailed her a follow up - never received a response from her except for her to tell me that she was unable to accommodate us any more - 6 days later & 2 days before my wedding. Her lack of attention to detail could have ruined my day. Bartenders who couldn't tap a keg (she knew we'd have kegs 6 weeks prior to event date) and refused to mix drinks, and her "industrial strength AC" that she promised didn't work throughout the entire 80 degree day and showed "service required." She refused to honor any of these mistakes and stated that there was an event the day after and everything was fine. Maybe a smaller crowd would have been fine but 80 people in suits and cocktail attire were drenched with sweat. Fortunately I had fantastic family and friends who made sure my day was magical. The space is cute but the professionalism is nonexistent and a HUGE headache.

We had ample space for 15 of us, with different "work zones" for our meeting activities throughout the day -- and probably would have still felt this way with double the people. It was spacious enough for us to spread out, but still feels cozy with the mix-and-match decor. Appreciated the option to have some light catering to sustain us, without having to do all the legwork for that - and Nicolle was attentive to requests during the contracting/ setup phase. For a corporate meeting - we challenged the wi-fi capacity as we had a lot of folks joining video remotely; if A/V is your top need, this may not be your ideal spot without some additional technology brought in. For a fully or mostly in-person workshop or meeting in a unique space, go for it! Looking forward to hosting here again.
