We had great annual meeting at the Chez for Association of Indian Cardiologists 03/29/25. Everybody loved the place. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. Chez is one of the coolest venues in the city! I'm an event planner in Chicago, and I've produced events at Chez over the past 10 years or so. Recently, they installed an entirely new sound system, full LED wall, and lighting. You have to see it to understand how impactful the changes are to the space! The lighting is incredible, and super affordable compared to bring in a separate lighting company to do the same quality of work. For my particular event, we had a Video DJ come in and supplemented the video content that the venue provided. But honestly, the venues video content is amazing. They have an entire catalog of different colors, patterns, animations, etc. i've previously done a bunch of weddings here, but after producing a recent birthday celebration, I was reminded that the space could be used for literally any type of event. It's a genuine blank canvas, and you can make it your own. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Lovely event venue that photographs well and is like a big blank canvas to any party host. The only downside is that the acoustics in the room aren't the greatest--there's nothing there to soften the sound, so it's big, open, echo-ey and potentially very loud space. Otherwise, the venue is beautifully presented and is certainly malleable enough to host just about any function. This was also the site of the famous Chez Paree supper club. I spent quite a bit of time researching it while at the venue and wish that the venue would play up that history a bit more--it would certainly spark the interest of individuals who are passionate about this fun part of Chicago history. read more

We had a formal dance here over the weekend and it was incredible. The staff was incredible and easy to work with, specifically Mar. She responded quickly and was willing to work with us in every aspect necessary. The venue is in a nice and safe part of the city. It is beautiful inside and can fit many different event needs. We began planning our wedding before we were even engaged (thankfully I had a then boyfriend who understood my reasoning why I couldn't be going to grad school, working full-time AND be engaged all at once, haha). Naturally, the very first step in our wedding planning process after deciding that we wanted a New Year's Eve wedding was securing a venue, where we could have a ceremony and reception, and throw a huge party. We looked at Chez right after they opened in late spring 2014, before they had even had a wedding yet. Firstly, we were extremely impressed with the space itself. It's a large, all-white lofted space with a beautifully modern chandelier at the entrance and an impressive glass staircase. It was essentially a blank canvas for us to do as we pleased. There was a coat room (important for a winter wedding), an elevator from the street level for vendors and disabled or elderly guests to use (it's on the 2nd floor), a "getting ready" bridal room, and lots of bathroom space. After checking out a couple other venues, the beautiful space, location in the heart of downtown Chicago and the staff at Chez led us to book the space a year and a half out from our wedding. During the wedding planning process, our contact at Chez was responsive, informative and helpful. One example is that two weeks before the wedding, Chez made an announcement that they were getting in chairs and tables that everyone that booked a wedding for 1/1/16 or after would get to now use at no cost. Since we were spending thousands to outfit the space with these items, and since we were one day from the cutoff, I asked whether we could also use the chairs/tables at no cost. With no hesitation, we were allowed to use the chairs; however, all the tables were not delivered in time for us to use. We were very happy with the last minute savings, nevertheless. Our wedding materialized in the space exactly as we had hoped! We would not hesitate to recommend Chez for any couple looking for a contemporary loft space with lots of potential for personal touches. Do note though that if you're planning to have your ceremony and reception there, you will likely have to rent pipe-and-drape to divide the ceremony/reception space and cocktail hour and to hide the tables during the ceremony. We knew we would have to do this, but we had no idea just how expensive it was going to be. read more

We chose Chez to be our wedding reception location in June 2018 and booked it during summer of 2017. The online scheduler to view the place was super convenient! The place is breathtaking, and ceilings are very high. Additionally, it is located close to Michigan avenue. With majority of our guests being out of town, this was a huge plus! Chez is a like a white canvas, you can make whatever you want of it. Due to the recommendations from our designers, we decided to use lights as our main form of décor, and it worked like a charm. Chez accommodated all of our needs and was one of the few places that was willing to be open till 2am if we needed it (we used it till 1am). The rental also included beautiful ghost chairs and large rectangular tables. The staircase provides a different touch from the rest of the places we saw, and we got to make a grand entrance walking down. The views from up there are also amazing as you can get a bird's eye view of the place. Lauren was of great help. She was very open to our ideas and always open to accommodate anything we needed. She also made herself and the place available whenever we needed to come by and see the place or show the place to our family and friends (which was a few times throughout the year). She turns on the AC for one hour and then turns it off so all guests are MELTING from the heat. Even if you tell her to turn it on she lies about it. Shady owner shady place. When we first set foot into Chez late 2015 as a possible wedding venue we fell in love at first sight. As soon as we reached the end of the steps on our way out, we decided to walk back upstairs and choose a date with Lauren. The booking process was easy and Lauren was so helpful in answering any questions and providing recommendations for vendors. Fast forward to June 2017. Months prior we worked with Kristie when it came to securing our vendors and setting up meetings. She was attentive and prompt for any questions or concerns we had. One of our biggest worries was a hotel was being built next door to Chez and on our wedding day they would be installing a crane. This meant the street would be closed. We were very worried about our vendor deliveries and our guests finding the place. I was upset since every bride wants their day to be perfect. Kristie consistently emailed us with updates of situation and any news from the developer of the new hotel. We were so worried about noise and did not want this to interfere with our ceremony if they decided to work on the hotel during our Saturday wedding. Anyway, Kristie did an excellent job coordinating with our vendors for deliveries and going above and beyond to make sure our day would be great despite the project next door. Chez was kind enough to give us a gift by upgrading our flower wall back drop, customize our bar, and providing us with additional flower bouquets for our anniversary dance. They were compassionate and thoughtful to ensure our day would go to plan despite of the situation. They even had additional staff to receive our guests outside and direct them into the venue. The only hiccup for our day was the air conditioning malfunctioned. It got so hot inside at one point my Husband and I started sweating and our guests were complaining (I thought they were coming up to the sweetheart table to congratulate us but that wasn't the case) which I thought was embarrassing. People were even coming up to our parents to complain and tell us. I was constantly bugging our wedding planner to talk to them about it and she told me they had someone on site fixing it. We didn't feel it was fixed until about 5 hours later and this was pretty bad when it was dancing time. We were there early (3:15pm) since we finished our pictures early around the city and we noticed it was hot but thought they had the A/C on low since it was 90 degrees outside. In the end, we were glad it was fixed at some point. This was the only major flop that day. My recommendation would be to make sure to do a check on the A/C hours before the event starts so no one has to suffer especially during the summer months. We had beautiful decor done by Revel for our day and they did a fantastic job by creating a space that I envisioned. Overall, Chez is a beautiful space and Lauren & Kristie are great to work with. read more

Lauren was wonderful to work with - from the moment we met with her she answered all of our questions, met with us initially at the venue, and continued to be prompt via email leading up to the day of the event. My wedding ceremony and reception were both at Chez in October. Like all beautiful venues in Chicago, we needed to book a full year out, so don't delay if you want it. The experience was wonderful from start to finish. The space is positively gorgeous with a modern, loft look, stark white interiors, elegant drapery and gorgeous restrooms. The service was nearly perfect with just a small hiccup at the end, but our wedding guests were so complimentary about the wedding that it was easily forgotten. We had approximately 150 guests and everyone fit very comfortably. The only drawback we found was Chez only works with approved caterers (you're free to choose all of the other vendors with no restrictions). Though we understand why, we were limited in the type of food we could get and pricing was much higher for the approved caterers than what we wanted to pay. I highly recommend Chez for your wedding or other events. It truly is a blank canvas you can do so much with-everyone will love it! read more

I attended a company holiday party at Chez recently. Based on pictures, I was expecting the space to be sterile and uncomfortable. Not the case. The table layout and settings were well thought out. The bartenders and servers were outstanding - engaging yet not overly so. My only complaint would be that the bathrooms are up a glass staircase. Not the greatest for ladies in heels. read more

My team and I photographed a wedding at the Chez this past Saturday. The venue is stunning, modern and spacious. The white walls mixed with window light provided a bright and beautiful room till sunset. The staff was friendly and super accommodating to the guests and to the vendor staff. They provided us with a service elevator to bring our gear up to the main floor and exit the main floor. Their manager was extra friendly with providing us an extension cord and safe storage room for our gear. We had our wedding here last June, and it was perfect. We had 110 guests with our ceremony and reception onsite, and worked well with the draping and the lighting we installed. The venue was really flexible with our installation of additional lighting, and the space was immaculate. Our guests still comment on beautiful the space was and not to mention how convenient it is for a loft space in Chicago vs. many others that do not have nearby hotels and amenities. Our professional organization recently rented the CHEZ space for our annual awards ceremony. We had a great experience with the space and the team from CHEZ! The space is modern, crisp, and very elegant. Its design is clean and allows for minimal decorating if your budget is tight like ours was. We love the floating glass staircase, the large windows and flexibility in set up because of the open plan. We also appreciated that they had on site the clear GHOST chairs that added to the elegance of our evening. The vendors CHEZ suggested we work with were all very nice and came through. From the caterer to the AV company, it was all very positive. Our organization is led by a group of elected and volunteer leaders. The CHEZ team was very accommodating and were able to handle multiple calls and requests as well as site visits for walk-throughs and verification. I planned a Casino Night event for my company at Chez a few months ago and it was the perfect venue for us and ended up being a great size for the amount of people we had (around 180). The event planner, Lauren, was super easy to work with and was accommodating for everything we needed. They have a great list of vendors that they frequently work with so that made it easy to find companies that were already acquainted with the venue.
