We fell in love with this venue…read moreright away when we visited and heard the sweet story about how the owner renovated it to surprise his wife for their anniversary. The decor reminded me a classic elegant movie. The planning process was a little stressful, but Amy was super friendly and really seemed to want to make us happy. The food was tasty, but I wish we could've tried more of it before choosing our menu. (We could only try 2 entrees and none of the super long hors d'oeuvres list. They also didn't have photos to look at, which would've been a decent alternative to trying the food.) On wedding day, the servers took away my plate before I ate any of it, after I specifically asked them not to. And they also told my grandmother there were to to-go boxes. I understand if I wasn't the bride, but that was pretty frustrating considering the amount of money we spent on the reception.

The food was yummy- the risotto was my favorite. Although I usually don't like pesto, I enjoyed the pesto here. The desserts- WOW! What a spread! The key lime, fruit Tarte, tiramisu cake, and the eclair were my favs! But the brownie bite, cheesecake, caramel, and pana cotta were also great. Also- there is street parking as well as a public garage around the corner- I think it's $2 for 1 hour or less, $3 for 2-3 hours, and I'm not sure what the prices are above that. But very reasonable for Chicago area.

I had the pleasure of attending a wedding at Belvedere Chateau, and let me tell you, it's easily…read morethe most stunning wedding venue I've ever seen. The place was immaculate, and you could tell it was meticulously maintained. While I'm not sure who handles the catering, if it's the venue or someone my hosts hired, the pastries and finger foods offered were absolutely divine and plentiful. I particularly loved the assortment of sweets and desserts laid out before the main meal. As someone with a serious sweet tooth, I indulged in quite a few treats. What I appreciated most was that everything was bite-sized, allowing guests to sample a little bit of everything without feeling guilty if they didn't like something. So if someone is reading this, get the pastry chef's number. After the sweet indulgence, the main courses were served. Starting with soup, followed by salad, and an array of main dishes served family-style. I enjoyed the family-style servings as it allowed me to taste a bit of everything. However, the protein portions were quite generous, and after all the sweets, I found myself quite full. While the main entree was good, I have to say the other dishes stole the show. Now, let's talk about the dance floor - it was massive! Having such a large dancing area was a refreshing change from many other weddings I've attended. What else is there to say? I feel like, for me, as a guest, I look for very few things when it comes to the wedding: the food and the venue. Belvedere Chateau checked both boxes, so I was a happy and very full camper.

I recently hosted an event at Palace Regency in Cicero and unfortunately had a very disappointing…read moreexperience. Communication with the owner was poor from the start. Calls and messages often went unanswered, and when I raised concerns about issues during the event, they were dismissed rather than addressed. On the day of the event, several things went wrong. Dinner service started late, the food was served cold, and there was only one bartender for approximately 130 guests. Drinks that were supposed to be served during dinner were never delivered. When I asked staff for assistance, no one was able to help or identify a point person in charge. Additionally, the venue was still being set up when it was supposed to be ready, which added unnecessary stress while I was trying to decorate and prepare. Instead of offering a meaningful resolution, I was offered a small discount for a future event and tickets to a band, which felt inappropriate given the situation. Overall, I was unable to fully enjoy my mother's event because I was busy managing issues that should have been handled by the venue. I would not recommend Palace Regency based on my experience.

The space is gorgeous on its own -- not a blank slate at all -- so we didn't need nearly as many decorations or flowers as we did at other venues we considered. Our guests raved all day about how beautiful and unique the building was. One of the biggest advantages is that the entire venue is yours for the day. There are no other weddings or events happening at the same time, which makes everything feel calm, special, and centered on your celebration. We had a Sunday brunch wedding, held our ceremony downstairs (very cozy and intimate), and our reception upstairs in the ballroom. The flow between spaces was seamless, and the ballroom floor is amazing for dancing. The sound system was excellent -- speeches and music were crystal clear. Gretchen was wonderful to work with throughout the planning process. She provided vendor recommendations, kept us on track to meet deadlines, and answered all of our questions. We used J&L Catering for our food and Schaffer's for alcohol, and both were excellent and the liquor from Schaffer's was a significant cost savings. Another huge bonus: so many essentials are included with the rental, such as tables, chairs, silverware, and plates. At other venues, those items can be surprisingly expensive to source. Logistically, this location is hard to beat. There are several hotels and great restaurants within walking distance, making it incredibly easy for our out-of-town guests to enjoy an entire weekend in Evanston. Our local guests appreciated that parking is free in Evanston on Sundays and close to the venue. There are also plenty of bathrooms on the same floors where all the events take place -- a small detail that makes a big difference for guest comfort. Finally, it felt meaningful to support a historic building and philanthropic organization rather than a large hotel chain. Overall, we highly recommend The Woman's Club of Evanston as a premier wedding venue in the greater Chicagoland area. We couldn't imagine having celebrated anywhere else.

It is a gorgeous old mansion with deep roots; the manager (Gretchen) is kind, reliable, and so easy to work with; the preferred caterer we used (Catering by Michaels) was raved about by our guests; and the gift of bringing your own alcohol was huge. Our guests kept commenting on the uniqueness of the space, how great it was to have a pianist playing during our cocktail hour on the first floor, and how joyful and bright the ballroom looked. It was honestly beyond anything I imagined. A few extra things of note - our guests stayed at the Graduate Evanston which is barely a block away (no shuttles needed!); there is a huge parking garage across the street so nobody was looking for parking; and have I mentioned how beautiful the space is? I wish I had a reason to throw a huge event again - I would go back to the Women's Club every time. Huge thank you to Gretchen and her team!
