We hired toast and jam for our June 2026 wedding because of what I read online. We met a total of three times over the course of the year to talk about what we wanted as a couple for our day and filling out a long form of what songs we wanted/didn't want! For example in these meetings we discussed we wanted no remixes, no dj talking in between songs. Fast forward to the day everything was going smoothly until reception- the songs that were played were not our vibe at all. I went up to the DJ booth several times and told him I don't want remixes and to go off the 4 hour playlist I made for him of vibes. I also gave him several must plays in the form that were not played. It got to the point where guests were coming up to me saying this music doesn't give you because they were not it at all. The dj said he would play oldie songs at the beginning for our older relatives and they were remixed and shortened. The two slow songs I wanted for the evening were remixed to fast versions. I'm so disappointed and upset because this was the only thing that went wrong and the dancing is my favorite part. When I went up to the dj booth and told him to play songs from the playlist he said he ran out of content - when I linked 4 hour reception in the document and he started playing pre ceremony songs during reception. I feel bad but I put in the work of making three playlists ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception and maybe my DJ should have also put in work. read more

We hired DJ Paul Simpson from Toast and Jam to DJ our wedding and we could not be happier with how it went! The planning before the wedding was very easy. We met with Paul initially to talk about what we wanted to do and he gave us access to the planning site where we could list what we did and didn't want him to play. We met with him again a few weeks before the wedding to go over the plan and he executed everything we asked for perfectly! We didn't use a wedding planner so Paul was instrumental in helping us figure out how the day would go. We had the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at the same venue but at different locations around the venue. Paul set us up with music and microphones for the ceremony. When that ended, he quickly moved to the cocktail hour to provide the music. After that, he moved to the reception area to announce us and get the music started. It all happened seamlessly! We also got a photo booth from Toast and Jam and were very happy with how that worked as well. Overall, this company really took care of us and made our big day run as smooth as we were hoping it would. Do not hesitate to book Toast and Jam and Paul Simpson for your event. We had an intro call with my our DJ, Alli, to learn a bit more about T&J and their process. Leading up to the wedding Alli was super helpful in our prep meetings from helping us align on music choices to going over every ceremony detail, from ceremony order / music / timing to name pronunciations for our wedding party. She even helped us fold in some last minute song additions we sent the day before the wedding! If you're looking for a stress free wedding day, avoid them. Background: I helped my best friend plan her wedding pre-covid and Toast and Jam would not refund her $800+ deposit when we had to cancel due to the pandemic lockdown. She even worked with them to reschedule to try to avoid losing the money but they would only play a venue of 50 people and her wedding was 100. My friend had strict regulations for her wedding: vaccine cards were checked and the few people that weren't able to get vaccinated due to medical reasons were all covid tested 2-days prior to the wedding and asked to quarantine. She also followed all guidelines from the city and the venue, which was an extremely large space with very high ceilings. We were only at 25% capacity. At the end of the day, Toast and Jam would not reschedule for the amount of people that were coming and would not budge on refunding or even offer a partial refund. After reading this and you still want to proceed. I get it but please be careful. Proceed with caution and read the entire contract before you sign, specifically the sections that cover unforeseeable circumstances and public health crisis. Ask to amend those, so if you do want some flexibility for changes you have a fail safe. And with the rise of delta variant cases you may need some flexibility. Read and amend the contract and save yourself from losing the money you saved planning your dream wedding. read more
